The Smartphone Revolution: The Growth of Smartphones & Exchange ActiveSync

2011-09-24T18:22:00.001-07:00

Technology has made such an impact on society that most people won’t leave home without their cell phone, and their computer has become their best friend. This is why one of the most life-changing pieces of technology for many has been the smartphone — an all-in-one, portable device that combines the functions of a cell phone with the functions of a computer.
Brief History of the Smartphone
Smartphones are actually a relatively new piece of technology.

1992 – The first smartphone was invented by IBM in 1992. It was nicknamed, “Simon,” and had a plethora of features including a calendar, address book, calculator, email service, and even a touch screen. At $899.00, though, most people could not afford it.
1996 – Nokia launched a series of smartphones in the late ’90s that were basically a cross between a cell phone and a PDA.
2000 – Ericsson developed the R380, a touch screen smartphone that used the Symbian operating system and had a foldable keyboard. It was the first all-in-one device to actually be called a smartphone.
2002 – This was the year the smartphone revolution really took off. Blackberry was introduced with its email services, as well as the Palm Treo and its full QWERTY keyboard and Ericsson’s P800 model. Several new features were added to smartphones including the MP3 player, camera, and wireless technology. Exchange Email also became popular.
2005 – The N-Series of smartphones was introduced to the market by Sony Ericsson. These devices were targeted at business people because of their computing capabilities.
2007 – Apple’s coveted iPhone was introduced with its massive app store.
2008 – The open-source, Android operating system started to take off, supported by Google, Intel, HTC, and a variety of other developers.
Now – New smartphones are constantly being introduced to the market by all the major players. The focus is currently on getting faster Internet speeds.

Why Are Smartphones so Popular?
The popularity of the smartphone grew, in part, because of services like Exchange, and their ActiveSync and Push Email services. People loved the idea of being able to access their email and do business while on the go. With the first smartphones, it was difficult to manage a calendar and contacts because they had to be updated on too many separate devices. Exchange allowed people to update information once and have it show up on all the other device they used instantly.
Smartphones have come a long way in a short period of time. Now, we’re anxiously awaiting the technology that comes next.

Another Apple iPhone prototype has gone missing

2011-09-24T04:56:00.000-07:00

Another Apple iPhone prototype has gone missing, again lost by an Apple employee in a bar, CNET is reporting. The device, supposedly a prototype of the upcoming iPhone 5, apparently still hasn't been recovered.
The unconfirmed incident strangely mirrors the infamous loss of an iPhone 4 prototype last year, although this time things are less definitive. Whereas last year, the prototype was obtained by a tech blog and revealed for the world to see, so far no photos or details about the phone have come out. CNET reports that it's not known what the device looks like or what operating system it's running.
The chain of events, as reported, goes like this: Sometime in late July, a person testing the iPhone, presumably an Apple employee, accidentally left the device at San Francisco Mexican restaurant called Cava 22. Since then Apple has been "scrambling" to get the device back, managing to track it to electronically to a two-floor home in the city's Bernal Heights neighborhood. The twentysomething man who apparently lived there said he was at the restaurant on the night the prototype went missing but denied any knowledge of it, even when Apple offered him money if he produced the phone, no questions asked.
CNET goes on to say the phone may have been sold on Craigslist for $200. All of the information appears to have come from a single source "familiar with the investigation."
When contacted by PCMag, a spokesman for the San Francisco Police Department couldn't confirm or deny if there was a police report about the incident. He said it was relatively routine to work with a private company's security when investigating a theft, but couldn't think of another case where company reps accompanied uniformed officers into a private residence. Apple didn't respond to a request for comment, and calls to the bar, Cava 22, weren't returned.

It all sounds eerily familiar. Last year after an Apple engineer, Gray Powell, accidentally left an iPhone 4 prototype in a bar, the finder quickly recognized what he had and sold it to Gizmodo. The tech blog then proceeded to reveal the phone to the world, posting photos and a teardown weeks before the official release. Although Gizmodo and its staff escaped charges in the incident, the San Mateo District Attorney's Office charged two people, Brian Hogan, 22, and Sage Wallower, 28, with misappropriation of lost property and possession of stolen property earlier this month.

iphone 5 : the october 4 is the date

2011-09-21T06:11:00.000-07:00

It's October 4, the date scheduled for the next ceremony of Apple, which will launch theiPhone 5, and this, according to sources close to the preparation of the event, the datethe new Devoille iPhone5 while some sources also added that this does not mean that this date is official as long as it is uncertain where the company can change at any time inthe day. October 4 will be the only date of the announcement iphone 5 and will be available in stores a few weeks after the ceremony to be held, the latter which is not like other celebrations of the previous year, especially after the Functions of thedecision-CEO of Apple by Tim Cook.

A comparison : the NOKIA N8 VS THE IPHONE 4

2011-09-21T03:37:00.000-07:00

On paper, the Nokia N8 certainly looks like an impressive piece of hardware. We were taken through an early sneak peek of the touchscreen smartphone with Australian Nokia representatives and were reasonably impressed. The N8 has a 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and a Xenon flash, it records 720p HD video and has a HDMI-out port so you can watch high quality footage through a television, and it also supports Dolby Digital sound. It also has an aluminium body and is available in five colours including white, orange, green and black.

During our demo, the HDMI-out capabilities were particularly impressive — we watched a short movie clip through a full HD television and the video was clear and smooth. The Nokia N8 will ship with plenty of accessories, including a dongle to connect a USB flash drive to the phone to share, transfer and store a range content.

With this in mind, how will the Nokia N8 stack up against the Apple iPhone 4?

Feature	Apple iPhone 4	Nokia N8	Verdict?
Operating system (OS)	Apple iOS4	Symbian S^3	iPhone 4
Display technology	Capacitive retina IPS	Capacitive OLED	iPhone 4

Quoted standby time	Up to 300 hours	Up to 400 hours	Nokia N8
Adobe Flash support	No	Yes	Nokia N8
HDMI-out	No	Yes	Nokia N8

As you can see, both smartphones stack up reasonably well, with each possessing its own strengths and weaknesses. The Nokia N8 is the first Nokia phone to run the latest Symbian OS, Symbian S^3. The changes are mostly related to performance and stability, with only minor changes to the actual user interface. During our brief hands on, the Nokia N8 was zippy and fast, and offered a smooth multitouch experience, bringing it closer to the iPhone and Android smartphones. However, the menus don't look as polished as the interface on HTC's Android smartphones or Apple's iOS4, and we were left feeling that Symbian S^3 merely brings Nokia in line with its competitors, without pushing ahead of them.

Although we're looking forward to seeing Nokia really take the next step with Symbian S^4 (scheduled for release sometime in 2011), it's the N8's hardware which is getting some serious attention, in particular the 12-megapixel camera, HDMI out and HD video recording features.

The N8's 3.5in display is the same size as the iPhone 4's screen but uses OLED technology. Apple's iPhone 4 utilises IPS technology (as does the iPad, but thanks to its 640x960 pixel resolution it has been described as a "retina" display, due to the human eye being unable to distinguish individual pixels. We are keen to see exactly how it stacks up against the N8's screen, but it is expected to beat a regular OLED display. Unlike Samsung's Galaxy S, the Nokia N8 has an aluminium body that feels well constructed.

Apple Ready to Deliver 30 Million iPhone 5 Handsets with an Upgraded Antenna + Minor Changes

2011-09-17T19:41:00.000-07:00

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is set to build and ship more than 30 million of its next-generation iPhone 5 handsets by the end of the year. Kuo believes that Apple is capable of reaching this target due to the anticipation and hype that’s building around the iPhone 5, which has yet to be announced or confirmed by Apple, but is largely expected to be shipping in October.
Kuo believes that the iPhone 5 will ship with the same amount of RAM memory as the iPhone 4 – 512 MB – and that the design, which features a glass front and back, will remain largely the same. It’s also rumored that the iPhone 5 will ship with a completely redesigned antenna system, which caused a huge PR nightmare for Apple during the launch of the iPhone 4. It was discovered by users and media outlets that the cellular reception of the iPhone 4 could be drastically reduced by covering the bottom left and right corners of the iPhone 4 with a hand. Apple ended up giving users a free ‘bumper’ case to offset the antenna issues, but with a new phone comes the opportunity to fix the issue.
The iPhone 5, which has been dubbed the ‘N94’ handset, will apparently also make use of Corning’s Gorilla Glass for its front and back panels. Kuo is confident that the iPhone 5 will come in both white and black, and that both colors will ship at launch. According to his sources, Kuo indicates that about sixty percent of the iPhone 5 handsets built so far have been black, with the remaining designed in white. It’s widely known that China-based manufacturer Foxconn is handling almost all of the iPhone 5 assembly duties, with Pegatron picking up the remaining fifteen percent to help boost Apple’s launch and delivery capacity.
If Kuo is correct and Apple somehow does manage to deliver 30 million iPhone 5 handsets to users around the world before the end of the 2011 calendar year, they will be smashing their own iPhone sales records. To date, the best quarter that Apple has had was the second quarter of 2011, which saw Apple shipping just over 20 million handsets through the end of June.
The report also alluded to an improved rear camera coming with the iPhone 5. Rumors have speculated that the camera will be an 8 megapixel module built by Sony, and may or may not feature an LED flash on the opposite side of the handset from the lens which is meant to reduce red-eye artifacts in photos. Kuo believes that the size of the rear camera lens and circuitry is one of the major reasons that the iPhone 5 will have a similar design to its predecessor, but with the rumor mill working furiously to try to determine what the iPhone 5 is all about, this could change.
One thing is certain: the launch of the iPhone 5 is getting closer by the day. Stay tuned for further information and expect an official announcement from Apple any day now.

iPhone 5 release date as iPhone 4 supply dries up, iPhone 4S

2011-09-09T05:02:00.000-07:00

etting an iPhone 4 or 3GS just got harder, the surest sign yet that managing to wait for an iPhone 5 release date is about to get a whole lot easier. After consistent ship times on both current iPhone models dating back to last year which have had Apple shipping online orders within twenty-four hours, estimates for both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS have slipped to as much as a three day turnaround time. This means inventory of both current models is drying up, pointing to Apple having put both models out of production. That signals the quick rise of the iPhone 5, and it also signals something else: the iPhone 4 for both Verizon and AT&T is a goner, pointing to an iPhone 4S model to fill the bargain bin role.
The gradual bleed down of existing inventory comes amid of week of mounting circumstantial evidence that the iPhone 5 release date is rising if not quite imminent. But the exit of the iPhone 4 as of note, as Apple’s history would have pointed to it remaining as the sub-$100 bargain iPhone model even as the iPhone 5 arrives at $199 and up. However, the fact that the iPhone 4 hardware is bifurcated across two different carriers has been a messy loose end. By ending the iPhone 4 as we know it and replacing it with a universally compatible iPhone 4S, as the iPhone 5 is expected to be as well, Apple simplifies its product line.
This development still leaves a multitude of questions to be answered, including when precisely the iPhone 5 will see release date. There’s also the issue of just what the iPhone 4S will entail. Two years ago, Apple added an “S” to end of its iPhone 3G, at which time Steve Jobs said that the S stood for speed. In this instance Apple could add its new A5 processor to the iPhone 4; the chip is considered a lock to be a part of the iPhone 5. There’s also another less likely scenario.
and that’s that there is no iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 is about to take over the entire iPhone spectrum. That would entail a sub-$100 iPhone 5 model to fill the bargain role along with more expensive iPhone 5 models sporting better specs and additional features. But in any case, the fact that Apple is bleeding off existing iPhone 4 inventory signifies that it’s a goner either way. And it also signifies that the iPhone 5 is close to launch after all. Here’s more on the iPhone 5

iPhone 5 Info Specs & Release Date ?? 2011 ?????

2011-09-07T11:07:00.000-07:00

2011-09-07T10:43:00.000-07:00

This week marks the inflection point at which consumers are backing off from asking “When is the iPhone 5 release date” in favor of asking “Where can I see pictures of the iPhone 5 prototype” in a tradeoff which, for the moment, bought Apple some additional time as it continues to drag its heels. The prototype incident also has the benefit of taking coverage and attention away from rising rivals like Samsung’s Galaxy S2. Tired of waiting for the iPhone 5 to finally reach the market (here’s more on the iPhone 5 release date), and thinking of going with an S2 instead? Oh right, Apple goes and supposedly loses an iPhone 5 unit in a bar and suddenly the flurry of coverage reminds you that the iPhone 5 is A) coming soon, and B) the one you wanted all along.
But this week’s iPhone 5 development, whether embarrassing gaffe or clever stunt or fabricated story which never happened, won’t buy Apple much time as it continues to sputter slowly toward serving up an iPhone 5 release date, even as the iPhone 4 enters its fifteenth month of being Apple’s flagship smartphone. Would-be buyers want answers, and the tone has shifted. Back in the spring, those looking for information on the iPhone 5 were being whimsical about a product which they knew wouldn’t surface for another season. As summer progressed, that attitude turned toward one more of concern. And now, as summer winds down headed into Labor Day, the most frequent attitude we see expressed among readers toward the iPhone 5 and its fading release date is anger. That sets Apple up for an all-or-nothing gambit, and quick, as there are three ways this can go from here…
The first sees the iPhone 5 surface with a release date around October, and it’s a doozy. The specs, features, and design are all more advanced than anyone had predicted, and suddenly most angry waiters forgive Apple for the delays and dive in. By this time, seeing as how competing phones like the S2 go so little coverage back when the iPhone 5 was little more than a report of a prototype, the iPhone 5 will attain nearly all consumer tech coverage during its launch month. The little “oops, where it is” fiasco of the summer will be mostly forgotten…

The second scenario is the most painful one: after all this time, the iPhone 5 either surfaces and is a major disappointment (it’s really another iPhone 4 with just a few better specs wedged in), or it gets pushed all the way to 2012 and an iPhone 4S is released for the holiday season. This will push angry consumers into outright seething anger, as they’ll feel they were made to wait all this time for what is clearly a disappointing result. This scenario would not portend good news for the new Tim Cook era at Apple. However, there’s a third option.

This one sees the iPhone 5 arrive around October and it’s about what had been expected based on iPhone history: faster, modestly bigger screen and better battery life, sexier body style than the iPhone 4, and one or two killer marketable features thrown in, whether they be something fundamental like 4G LTE or something more left-field like FaceTime was last time around. This scenario may not see Apple fully forgiven by all for pushing the iPhone 5 release date so far past summer. But it’s the most likely one, and it’ll be enough to put smiles on the faces of most of those who’ve been waiting for the iPhone 5. Either way, by that time, no one will be talking about the lost iPhone 5 prototype, which at this point may well never surface – if it existed in the first place. Here’s more on the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 Concept with laser and holographic keyboard, is a rumors?

2011-09-05T16:32:00.000-07:00

Many of us find ourselves in the process of dreaminess. Like Football Fan imagining the results of the next day of league, many in our mind we are dedicated to thinking about how it could be the next iPhone 5 … we are not alone as a digital design company called Aatma Studio based San Francisco has done so with incredible results.

Surely we would think how well one of these terminals imaginary, is not it? A smartphone slim, large screen, lightweight, while implementing two impressive features, on one hand the projected keyboard that would let the iPhone 5 screen fully at our disposal, in fact there to highlight the originality of the way it interacts with this laser keyboard.

iPhone 5 Concept feature

On the other hand, surprised to what would happen if the iPhone 5 the future integrate the projection of holographic images. The utilities would be infinite and a gadget of this kind quickly replaces many other electronics such as televisions and others.

It’s a shame that all this is just a concept, and indeed it is impossible to see something next month when the iPhone 5 is presented; but who knows, maybe in a few years we remember this video and how Apple finally borrowed some ideas from it!

Rumors ==========> The Mythical iPhone 5

2011-09-05T07:38:00.000-07:00

It's that time of year. Maybe it's the first hint of warm weather or the abundance of pollen circulating the air. Whatever it is, it has caused the tech world to begin swirling with chatter. The iPhone 5 is coming. And the speculation is never ending.
The only thing that's certain is that nothing will be for sure until the official Apple announcement. Until then, it won't stop us from deciphering the long list of tech rumors.
To start, let's address the biggest rumor of them all: the release date. Reports speculate timelines ranging from June to October, based on production timelines and availability of certain parts.
Although previous iPhone product cycles have been started in June, the iPhone 5 could be completely different. Many suggest September as a realistic guess; though this is the same crowd that said the iPad 2 wouldn't be available until June. Your guess is as good as ours.
And when the iPhone 5 makes its debut, Case-Mate will be ready with its latest collection of cases and accessories. The collection will feature a mixture of styles, including tough protectors and innovative luxuries, which will fit into any lifestyle.
The realistic- what's most likely to show up in the iPhone 5
White Models- The coveted white models, more rare than a Norwegian Ridgeback, are expected to be available for the iPhone 5. Similar to the immediate availability of the white iPad 2 models, the white iPhone 5 model should be ready from day one.
More memory- Users should also expect more internal memory storage than ever before, including the possibility of a 64 GB model.
CDMA Model- Will Verizon users receive the new iPhone 5 at the same time as AT&T? We think yes. Mostly because we can't think of a reason why not.
Same Design- The consensus among the tech world is that the iPhone 5 will have the same general design as the iPhone 4. It may be slightly slimmer with a larger screen. However, the general form factor would remain the same.
Improved Camera/Video Recording- We're hearing rumors of an 8 megapixel camera (!) and HD video recording.
Faster Processor- Like the iPad 2, the iPhone 5 is expected to have an A5 processor and more RAM.
HDMI Output- Just think, your FatBooth photos in HD on your TV. Can it get much better?
NFC Technology- Built-in NFC technology would bring mobile payments directly your iPhone 5. Shopping enthusiasts, take note. This could be dangerous.
The maybes- 50/50
The Cloud- It's the future. All of your internal memory storage would be held in a virtual iTunes cloud, accessible by a wireless or 3G/4G network. Cool concept, but are we quite there yet?
4G/LTE-Debates continue over whether the iPhone 5 will work on the 4G /LTE network. Internet and connectivity speeds would be the fastest yet.
Home Button- Say good-bye to your familiar friend if this rumor holds true. Replaced by a touch sensitive area, there would be no more physical home button.
New Form Factor-Could it be the redesign we've all been waiting for? Rumors include a design based upon the iPad 2 look and feel, including rounded edges.
Battery Life-Avid iPhone users can drain a battery faster than you can send a tweet. Okay, maybe not that fast. But everyone would love a longer lasting battery. We can dream can't we?
Entry Level iPhone- Basic iPhone models that do without internal memory for a less expensive option. Possible we say, but maybe not this time around.

The Apple iPhone 5 Captures A Completely New Audience

2011-09-01T09:00:00.000-07:00

There's a buzz surrounding the Apple iPhone 5 even though it has not been released. Many have rumored the release date, but this has only fueled a greater anticipation for this device.
Apple promises to push technology even further with the new version that will be available for both AT&T and Verizon phone users. The demand for the phone is greater because it will be available to smarter phone owners. The fact that the phone is no longer exclusive to AT&T contracts is somewhat symbolic. It not only marks a change between carriers, but it also gives way to other smaller changes like the color.
It has been reported that Apple has signed with a Taiwan-based company called Wintek. The proposed partnership will launch white iPhone 5 touch panels. This may seem mundane for users that have never owned an iPhone, but consumers that are loyal to the Apple brand will be enthused by the new color scheme. This is yet another change that is marking a new era for the iPhone.
Apple has maintained a strong presence in the field of smart phone technology. They hope to maintain consumer loyalty and attract new customers with what appears to be a complete redesign of the iPhone. The CPU, for example, is a new A5 design that uses a Qualcomm chipset. This new chipset has been reported as one that is three times faster, and it is designed to effectively handle the changes that the new iPhone will embody. The graphic cards are also improved.
Some of the changes in this device are widely known, but many of the new features are heavily guarded. There are tons of rumors and many speculations about the device. This is largely due to the huge following for the iPhone. When the release of the iPhone 5 was announced everyone wanted to know what would change.
It is understandable, however, for Apple to keep some secrets out of the range of headline news. There is so much competition and so many copycat manufacturers on the market. A release date that is months down the line could give many smart phone manufacturers the ability to tweak their own phones. Apple has taken pride in becoming an innovator. Their ability to keep the masses at bay is actually a smart promotional tactic. It builds ton of speculation about the device without actually giving any truly important secrets away.
Many users are just concerned about whether the iPhone 5 will surpass the limitations of the iPhone 4. The instant answer is yes. It already takes a huge leap beyond the previous versions by bringing Verizon in the equation. This brings a whole crowd of users that would have never considered a switch to AT&T. Verizon is one of the largest cell phone companies in the world. This is why Apple's new phone has to be an even better phone. It's not just an upgrade for eager consumers that are familiar with Apple. It's a chance to capture a whole new customer base that is not even familiar with the iPhone.

New Technology Gadgets To Look For: The iPhone 5

2011-08-26T11:41:00.000-07:00

One of the new technology gadgets anticipations is the Apple iPhone 5 which is rumored to have face recognition and a 64 GB memory. This is a cool phone which is expected to be more user-friendly while maximizing the level of security. Sure it was rumoured to appear in the last few months, in line with normal one-year space between new launches, but Apple is not in a hurry to get it to market as the iPhone 4 is doing just fine in sales. But now new rumours are pointing towards a late 2011 official release.
The iPhone 5 is said to support video chatting, GPS navigation and as usual it will allow users to sync it with their iTunes the same as other tech gadgets. The screen will be scratch protected and which is more, users will be able to watch local television channels. This might even give way for users being able to subscribe to cable channels if any service for iPhone is available. This will be one of the best gadgets so far, never mind the best smartphone.

One of the features of the new iPhone is its PICO projector (rumoured) which will allow presentations to be projected on to a flat surface or a wall. This is good for people who buy movies and cannot carry their humongous television. They can just play their favorite movie and projected on to the wall for better sharing. The projector is useful for school projects or for business meetings. Plus why get a large Plasma TV when you can use that projector to turn each wall into a small cinema. Don't expect stellar performance, but at night you can get decent images out of the iPhone 5.
It is certain that the newest iPhone will run on iOS 5 which has been an update on the old operating system of Apple. This is also the first iOS version supporting the new iCloud service that keeps all your data in sync with Apple's own servers. And the basic service is free, but you'll have to purchase more space if you have more than 5GB of files. This is the same as other latest gizmos of Apple such as the iPad.

New iPhone 5 Release Coming Up

2011-08-26T11:16:00.000-07:00

Where to buy an iPhone 5 One of the biggest technology happenings of the year is coming but we certainly don't know when it's going to happen. Exactly the fact that it is BIG though, has created a LOT of speculation on the date of the release. Of course, I'm talking about what everyone else is talking about in 2011: iPhone 5!
There is certainly a significant amount of "BUZZ" surrounding this one and probably for good reason. I mean, let's face it, the iPhone is just one of a string of HUGE success stories that Apple has put together. That's right, iPhone 5 is just another chapter in the book of massive iPhone success after iPhone success and this is only one book in a set of others that could be written about Apple products such as iPod and iPad. Please don't get the wrong impression and leave. I am not especially a big fan of Apple or Mac stuff myself and don't feel that I am biased either one way or the other. But even the person who is watching from a distance with no emotion has to admit that there is a pretty high pile of success stories stacking up over at Apple. So considering the track record, there are a lot of good reasons to be excited about the release of the iPhone 5.

It's BIG! And since they have been able to get progressively better with each new iPhone, there is good reason to believe that the iPhone 5 will be smaller and better than ever. The readability of the screen will probably be ridiculously good, since this is one of Apple's core competencies. There is also good reason to believe that the processor speed will be significantly increased, possibly even enough to handle multi-tasking, which was a big issue a couple generations ago, but seem to have been solved more thoroughly in the iPhone 4.
The applications downloads are in the billions so there is more possibility than ever that the iPhone 5 will have "an app for that" no matter what subject you're talking about. I don't think it will be water-proof though so please don't try to get it to wash the dishes. Also nothing that involves dropping it from very high unless you have a case that protects it. Even then I don't recommend it.
So the big questions about the release of the iPhone 5 :
1. When is the iPhone 5 release going to happen? And 2. Where can I buy an iPhone 5. The answer to the first question is not going to be given away very easily by Apple, but the rumors will pretty much pinpoint it when they stop giving out employee vacations, etc. The answer to the second will be a much more interesting question this time around since AT&T has finally lost the total monopoly and lock on this phone for a contract price. Of course people with other services were paying the big money and decoding the phones, but the iPhone has gained popularity with the mainstream by having its' model available for $200 with a contract. This time around, AT&T will not be the only busy place in town! There are other companies lining up to join this club! So if you're asking where to buy an iPhone 5 you are probably one of hundreds of thousands!

The New iPhone 5 a Debit Card?

2011-08-26T08:16:00.000-07:00

There has been a lot of speculation to whether the new iPhone 5 will come with the NFC (Near field communication) technology but of course there are the pros and cons that come with it. NFC technology has been around for quite a while now and is used every single day in Japan to pay for almost anything with just a mobile phone!

iPhone 5 NFC technology?
The NFC is a short-range technology and requires 4CM or less distance between you and a card reader and your items are payed for leaving your hands completely FREE, but it doesn't stop here the technology can also be used for other things such as automatic airline tickets, travel cards, identity documents and a whole lot more... Now imagine your on your way to work, pickup a newspaper open it and start reading while your iPhone 5 does all of the paying continue on your journey and wait for the bus and just hop on as you pass the drivers window your ID card has been scanned all for you no more messing around in pockets or wallets! All it takes is just one swipe of your phone. Does this mean we can throw our wallets away? We will have to wait and see!
iPhone 5 NFC Security
Now I know what your all thinking... this is going to be a major headache what if someone steals your phone? Can someone swipe it without me knowing? Well the answer is NO! The technology works as follows:
1. You are at the checkout
2. iPhone 5 must be waved over the till scanner
3. Till recognizes if your iPhone 5 can make payment
4. Price appears on the till and a request for the pin is asked on the phones handset
5. Handset will keep a record of the last 30 days of transactions
6. Spending limit will be just £15 put expected to rise!
7. All transactions will appear as normal on your bank/credit card statements.
8. If your iPhone 5 is stolen and used you can claim it back as its fraud just like lost/stolen credit cards.
So the efforts have been made to protect us of theft or loosing our phones but this is all complete and utter speculation nobody knows 100% this technology will exist in the new iPhone 5 we will all just have to wait and see.

2011-08-26T08:02:00.000-07:00

New Apple iPhone 5 features and pricing will surprise all of us. Although it is yet to be released and there is no official information about any specific release date yet, but there is definitely a lot of speculation around it. As per the information, iPhone 5 is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2011, coinciding with Apple's traditional June-July and would release of new iPhone models. As far as I'm concerned, January 2011 also seems to be a nice release date. This can also help Apple correct the antenna problem evident in the current iPhone 4. They can also introduce another version 4 with the rectification rather than waiting for fifth installment.

There are reports that iPhone 5 will definitely have an improved operating system, (iOS 5), which will have the ability to access 4G networks. It will also boast of extremely fast processor (1.5 GHz), improved battery life which will have up to 14 hours of talk time on 3G and 7 hours on AG. The fifth-generation model will also have additional carriers apart from AT&T. Verizon is most likely to be another career. Video chat on 3G and 4G networks will also be a reality, which is currently usable only on WiFi. The groundbreaking face recognition technology and high video resolution ability will also be packed with newer features. And to top it all, a powerful 8 megapixel camera is supposed integrated with iPhone 5. The new phone may also have radiofrequency identification as well. Imagine this, with the feature, you can use the iPhone just like use your credit card. If this happens, you can forget about waiting in the queue at the checkout forever. You can simply pay for your items wirelessly by waving your iPhone over the panel. This is the new patented technology that is going to be introduced by Apple. The patent depicts how a powerful RFID loop can be built into the circuitry of the iPhone or iPod touch screen.
And that's not all, the next iPhone memory is going to be a gigantic 64 GB. It would also include more storage as against the current capacity of a iPhone 4 which only has 16 GB and set it to GB of memory.
If you thought iPhone for is really sleek and thinner than 3gs, iPhone 5 will surprise you more. It is going to be even thinner than the current one and will have a shiny glass back piece. The screen will be completely scratch and shatterproof. The mobile phone users will be able to assign different tones to different e-mail accounts. True GPS will be built-in too.
Don't fret, here's the good news. The price for the iPhone 5 will be very similar to the current price of iPhone 4.
