Claudine~ I keep coming back to your lovely blog for ideas and viewing your photos. They are indeed awesome. I am trying to decide what color to paint our master bedroom. We had it professionally ainted last week with Sherwin williams "Enchant - 6555" but it's way too bright for us.

We have cathedral ceiling with white ceiling and trim and our bedroom furniture is a dark wood finish they refer to as "tobacco finish" it's the Paula Deen "Steel Magnolia" bed and matching furniture....we have beige carpets. The master bath is Sherwin Williams "Virtual Taupe -7039"

I've looked at Restoration Hardware's "Slate" and "Granite" I've also looked at griege-esque colors and more tan-taupe; but I think that's too close to my master bath color. I would like to find a mid-gray color with a hint of lavender or purple hue for a more contemporary yet sensual relaxing feel. or I would like to make it very polished and elegant. Can you please give me some suggestions? We have

Hi Mary,

Don't fret. Most of us are overwhelmed when choosing paint color. But here's a rule of thumb when working with most color choices - avoid too much pigment - go for a grayed down or 'dirtied' color

with a subtle undertone in the color you wish to showcase in your room. Walls with too much true pigment tend to look a little juvenile. The grayed down versions are a little more sophisticated and easier on the eye For a truly adult shade of lavender, try these:

Alpaca/Sherwin Williams

Here are a few more 'subtle' colors with purple or lavendar undertones. As always, try a swatch on the wall first - you never know how it will look in the room until you do. (In your case with the vibrant 'Enchant' on your walls, paint it on a poster board with a good 2-inch border of white around the edge - so the wall color won't interfere.

las vegas wedding - the good photos

on our Las Vegas wedding adventure

and promised to post the GOOD photos when they were ready

I believe I mentioned my son was Best Man, and that they had a rather unique entry to the reception after the wedding....

after the bridesmaids and groomsmen entered

the newlywed couple made their entry

the wedding party broke in to spontaneous, pre-rehearsed dance

they had so much fun!

we made the centerpieces with these wonderful fall hydrangeas

their colors were amazing...

we brought them with us from California, and we were so glad that we did as

we found flowers are very expensive in Las Vegas because they have to truck everything in

they are at least 3X the cost !

we put a large vinyl monogram on the dance floor

Claudine, I would love to send you a photo of our recently purchased 1916 Craftsman home. It is painted yellow, with Green trim and red accents.
Many people love the colors, which are historically accurate but we find it a bit much. We need help.
Would you share your ideas with us please? If so, where can we send the image?

Thank you for agreeing to share your color advice on our recently purchased 1916 craftsman style home. I've attached the street view photo... The home was expanded and remodeled by a gifted architect in 1994... The architect made every effort to be historically accurate, including with the paint. I like the idea of being true to her vision and the craftsman style but I have mixed feelings about both the exterior and interior colors. The exterior has brighter colors and a wider palette than I ordinarily like. Inside, I'm not sure what colors to use given the extensive oak trim. I want the rooms to feel light and open. Generally, I like neutrals and love your color sensibilities. What would you do with this house?

but I can definitely see how a palette of yellow, green/teal and mauve/pink

could be a little out of the comfort range for most of us

Craftsman style is all about nature

and as style goes, was a turn away from the Victorian era

with its dark dramatic colors and elaborate furnishings

and the short period following Art Nouveau,

which took the turn towards nature, but continued in the more elaborate vein

Craftsman style was non-fussy,

Asian in inspiration

clean lined and all about nature in its subject matter,

and in the extensive use of woods and its color choices.

Like most of the eras that have passed

there are good and bad elements

things we love and things we need to change to fit our modern lifestyle -

the trick is in embracing the style and nature of the era

while making it work for us in the 21st Century

with our love of bright and open spaces, vaulted ceilings, and modern conveniences

This is a typical Craftsman color palette, greens, reds, russets, golds

the palette was strong and common to the craftsman/arts and crafts era

Bearing in mind that a true Craftsman home embraced the colors of nature,
we should be able to find some modern alternatives - here are a few suggestions:

the stonework on your home would blend beautifully with these beige/gray tones

the white trim and accents show off the architectural elements

again, the stone on your home will blend beautifully with the gray/green of the main color.

A russet color door is a perfect way to make a welcome entry

a beige/brown/gray combination

note that all of these homes have been trimmed in white to show off the beautiful

details of the homes

taupe, black and white

another gray/beige palette

I love how the white trim is accented with a dark charcoal gray to make the architectural elements stand out. These cool gray, beige and green tones are soothing to the eye.

tan/blue-gray and white -

the tan is a slightly warmer palette than the previous colors

These would all work well -

all are organic colors without being too strong or too garish.

Now for the inside.

You mentioned you like neutrals and want everything to feel light and open -

a difficult task with everything being oak, and a particularly yellow/orange oak tone -

which, while it may be historically accurate, reminds me more of 60's paneled wood rooms or 80's country style with extensive use of oak, than how we live today.

Contrasts are what make a room interesting and there is very little contrast between the wood floor and the extensive oak millwork - making all those lovely details kind of blend together.

I know. That's what they did - wood tones everywhere -

and if you love it and want to remain historically accurate,

then feel free to completely ignore my next suggestion -

which is (speaking strictly as a designer) to change some of this oak color to white

(I feel the cringing of the true wood-tone lovers out there)

the oak details bisect this room into so many sections
it is difficult to find a place to rest your eyes

and the warm tone of the wood tends to come toward you,

making it the dominant feature of the room

because of this, I would go very neutral on the wall colors

remove the wallpaper border

and lighten this room up by painting some of the oak white for needed contrast

decide what features you like best about the room and paint the rest

as it is hard to make a room light and open when its main component is heavy oak

neutral 'cool' tones (grays, blues, greens and taupes for example)

will be your best palette with the warm wood tones

adding white trim to some areas will lighten and brighten your rooms, but

if you are a wood lover and want to keep that element,

light grays and beige grays are the perfect companion

The entry is truly special

the details in the wood are beautiful

however, again there is little contrast to showcase them

So while this is a beautiful room with lovely handcrafted woodwork, it all blends in together.

This should be a showplace. It is the first impression of your home

and a place everyone who comes to your door gets a glimpse of.

and as there isn't a lot of wall space that isn't paneled with oak

that we could paint to make a difference

you may consider some of the following examples to add light and contrast to this room

that essentially is the look I would carry through the entire house

some white painted wood

some original woodwork in the important areas

light neutral tones

SAD LOOKING BEDROOM

You have beautiful ideas! I am going through a divorce and need to update my sad looking bedroom (literally and figuratively)! I have a very small budget. I like things simple and am drawn to cozy country atmospheres. I want a cheerful color but not something I will tire of quickly. I have dark hardwood floors, white quilt bedding and brown wood furniture. I am thinking restoration hardware atmosphere. What do you think? Would a grey be too drab? The trim is BM white dove and much of house is BM camouflage. Should I change trim to crisp white? Any suggestions would be welcome!

I think a gray may be just the color you are looking for. Too drab? Only if you go with the most dreary concrete gray you can find - because nearly every color has a 'gray' version - a grayed down tone that is soothing and cool and lovely, or deep and calm.

and if you like Restoration Hardware, their Silver Sage is a green gray that is simply beautiful and looks different nearly every hour of the day

I don't think you could go wrong with any of these,

and I don't find them dreary

at all.

QUESTION #3

LOOKING TO MATCH DUNN EDWARDS GOLDEN GATE

I am working with marble gray white and black in master bath. want to do yellow, also in bedroom. What color from shermin williams best matches the Dunn Edwards Golden Gate? love that color.

Golden Gate has long been one of my favorite paint colors.

Both warm and at the same time neutral, it goes well with most wood tones.

I would recommend purchasing the true color from Dunn Edwards. To get a truly good 'match' get a tester pot from Dunn Edwards and take it to your Sherwin Williams store to match as they have a computerized matching system. If you do not have a Dunn Edwards nearby, you can purchase matched paint online from this website (please note I have not personally used this site, but it looks like they know what they are doing).

GRAY/BEIGE?

Claudine - You have such wonderful taste in colors so was hoping you could help me out! I am trying to pick a color for my living room which is in between the kitchen and the master bedroom (old house with long add on). The kitchen is a light grey with heavy blue undertones and I just painted my master bedroom in Silver Fox from Benjamin Moore which I love. I am trying to find a brown / grey color for the living room since my furnishings are more on the dark brown / reds and golds. I am hoping to switch out some of the furnishings but cannot right now so was hoping to find a color that blended well from the kitchen into the bedroom - staying away from anything too gold. Any suggestions??? I was looking at BM Kangaroo and Bennington Gray. Thank you!

Dear Amy:

Bennington Gray by Benjamin Moore is a perfect color and I think that both reds and golds would work well with it. It can darken a room with low ceilings, though, so depending on what your situation is, you can try Grant Beige for a lighter tone if needed.

Kangaroo by Benjamin Moore is equally lovely with the warm reds and golds - and will transition just as nicely as the other two suggestions into cooler tones when you decide to make the change. Happy painting!

LIGHTEN UP!

Hi Claudine! Great website! I'm trying to figure out what color to paint our study. It doesn't have any windows and we are going to replace the door with a glass door to try and let a little more light in but it's still pretty dark. We have wideplank wood floors in there and the built in cabinets are dark brown. We definitely need to lighten the room up. Any suggestions? I'm wondering if Navajo white would work? Or maybe a very light beige?

I'm not a fan of Navajo White, basically because it was the contractors go to color all through the 90's and just ended up looking like a dirty white to me. You can add a little more pigment and still have a color that will brighten a room - try any of these:

Classic Gray - Benjamin Moore

Cliffside Gray - Benjamin Moore

BEACH TOWNHOUSE

Wow, love this website! Claudine, wondering what you think for a brand new townhouse at the beach. The first floor has a large foyer which will become a sitting room, and is open to the rest of the first floor which includes a kitchen and very large family room. I am thinking the entire first floor needs to be one color since there is no separation of the rooms. I would live a light, beachy feel and am open to anything! I also would love a suggestion for the second floor going up the stairs and hallway to bedrooms. Thanks so much!

CHRISTMAS DECOR: A WARM WELCOME

Just had to share a few pictures of the latest holiday decor - this one for a community Christmas event at a church. (see http://www.thelivingnativity.org/). My task was to make a large empty hall feel warm and inviting and to provide areas where guests could be served hot chocolate and home baked cookies.

I was inspired by the decorations at Rogers Gardens this year (see post here). I loved the red that was so prevalent in the decor there, and the woodsy, natural feel that the plaid ribbon contributed. There were fresh florals arranged in lanterns and rows of red cyclamen. It looked so warm and wonderful, I knew red was the way we needed to go, and I loved the lantern theme. With those ideas in mind, I set about planning the room with the other volunteers that would make up our decorating committee.

In a effort to get the most mileage from our decorating dollar, we scoured CraigsList for used artificial Christmas trees, shopped the dollar store for ornaments, purchased inexpensive burlap for table coverings and draping, and loaded up on pine cones. The day we started our decorating, one volunteer noticed that the landscaping crews were trimming the pine trees along one of the main highways. She grabbed her husband and filled up her SUV with the clippings, providing fresh greens for our decorating without spending a dime.

And here is what a dedicated crew of volunteers were able to create. Decorating committee - YOU ROCK!

Welcome starts at the door

DIY TIP: We created this look with a blank green wreath

added the plaid and burlap bow and stuffed it with berries,

holly and picks of red apples to add the pop of red we loved.

the small table it sits on is covered with burlap

and a battery powered candle (fire code necessity)

flickers a warm welcome

DIY TIP: You can duplicate this look with your own lantern by

adding a green pick and bow on top and using a flameless candle inside,

tucked into a bed of live or faux greens and berries.

A small redbird and some berries on the lantern top will add charm.

sharing the foyer with the lantern and drawing guests in with holiday lights and warmth

is a cluster of trees and white poinsettias

we created a very simple decoration

for the chapel

featuring the burlap and plaid ribbon

a lighted wreath and garland of greens and pine cones

and a few ball ornaments

simple and elegant

and now the hall

the once big empty space has been divided and conquered

it no longer feels big and empty

large lanterns, burlap, fresh and faux greens

pine cones and pops of red

and the plaid ribbon

make a warm statement

especially with a flameless flickering candle

the lantern element is repeated throughout the hall

as is the burlap and plaid ribbon

and red accents

but the centerpiece of the event is the spectacular 12 foot tree

sitting on top of its pedestal - a table wrapped in burlap

you'd never guess we decorated it with ornaments from

target and the dollar store, extra large pinecones

and beautiful redbirds

it looked beautiful

a grapevine star stuffed with lights

tops the tree

beautiful art and sculpture is highlighted by white burlap

draping and flanked by our craigslist trees

and what may not convey as clearly in the photos

is that it was warm and inviting and even a little bit - cozy

HOW TO DECORATE A CHRISTMAS TREE - PART II

It's that time of year again.

Time to Deck the Halls, Jingle the Bells and Dash Through the Snow...

and time to

Trim the Tree.

Today I installed holiday decor in my client and friend Betty's house. I thought it might be helpful and fun to take you through the steps I use to decorate her artificial tree.

Naked, it's all trunk, skinny little branches, pine cones and blobs of faux snow.

A true Charlie Brown tree.

But, be patient.... it gets better!

ELEVATE THE TREE

We place it in an urn each year, to elevate it

and because it gives it a feeling of importance and a little elegance.

#1 ELEVATE THE TREE

(even bigger trees look better elevated

I put my 7-9 foot tree each year on a 18" tall chest

it provides ample space for packages, too)

LIGHTING THE TREE

On a fresh green tree the lights would come first.

Rule of thumb is one strand of 100 lights per 1 foot of tree.

I like to follow each branch out and back in to the trunk with the lights.

This makes the tree glow from the center out.

And I never wrap completely around a branch

I like to be able to remove the lights easily

Betty has a lighted tree, so my first task is ribbon.

#2 A MINIMUM OF 100 MINIATURE LIGHTS PER FOOT OF TREE

(so a 6 foot tree - 600 lights (approximately 6 strands)

an 8 foot tree - 800 lights (8 strands)

you get the picture)

ADD RIBBON

I use wired ribbon so I can manipulate it in and out, trying to keep the pattern visible and meandering down the tree. Once at the bottom, I repeat on the other side of the tree. Larger trees are easier to do if you repeat that 3 or 4 times, breaking it up into smaller sections. This ribbon is approximately 2.5 - 3.0 inches wide. Larger trees can handle wider ribbon.

#3 WEAVE IN RIBBON IN SECTIONS

(allow ribbon to disappear into the tree and emerge again.

this is a more natural look, and wired ribbon

is easier and more forgiving to work with

you will eventually get the hang of it - nothing about this is symmetrical

or even - just don't let your ribbon areas get too long or droopy)

ADD A TOPPER

Traditionally its a star or an angel, but there are many more choices to top a tree - for example we had this wonderful dangling gold glittering plant thing (is that enough adjectives for you?) and a long beaded multi-strand garland. I created a topper with the first and allowed the second to trail down the tree. Its much easier to put your topper on before your tree is full of ornaments and you are in danger of dislodging any.

#4 ADD TOPPER

(add the topper to your tree before you put the ornaments on.

use your imagination -

I've seen lanterns, wreaths, crowns, sparkling branches,

florals and clock faces top a tree

but if you are more traditional in your decorating - find an amazing star)

NEXT: DOMINANT ORNAMENTS

Betty has a collection of hand selected ornaments. Some are the wrong color for our theme this year, but most will work beautifully. Because we are using a lot of red this year, I collected the red ornaments to place evenly about the tree, distributing the vibrant color over the tree, followed by the ornaments with the most gold, her secondary color. Don't decorate only the ends of the branches. Place ornaments at varying levels along the branches - some closer to the trunk, some closer to the ends. This will give your tree depth and dimension - and it will hold more beautiful ornaments...

#5 ADD LARGEST OR MOST COLOR SATURATED ORNAMENTS

TO THE TREE - DISTRIBUTING EVENLY

(and distribute along branches, not just at the ends)

FILL IN WITH MORE ORNAMENTS

Put the rest of the ornaments on your tree,

using the same formula as above and filling in the spaces left by the first layer of ornaments.

#6 ADD THE REST OF THE ORNAMENTS

(add more ornaments, filling in the blank spots, and don't

forget to hang some in deep and some closer to the end

I also like to pinch the wire hanger so that they don't go flying

if the family dog or kids run by)

GARLAND IS THE FINAL TOUCH

If you are using garland, add it next. I don't use it for Betty's tree - it would be overkill.

#7 ADD GARLAND

add your garland last, and weave or drape it around your tree

The finished product - simply elegant...

IT'S TIME FOR A
CHRISTMAS CRAFT CLASS!

If you could have been a mouse in the corner at my house the last few days

you would have seen crazy in action -

last year I found myself at the end of the Christmas Season,
happy about the things I had created for others,
but without having made anything for myself.
I LOVE to craft at Christmas.
Having this class is my chance to catch up a little this year
and there are a lot of projects to choose from
narrowing it down has taken me literally DAYS!

The turkey is debuting as leftovers, the kids have returned to college, and we are left with wonderful memories and deep gratitude for family, faith and friends. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Before I begin decorating for the next holiday, I wanted to include some photos of our Thanksgiving table and decorations. I am so fond of the humble pine cone this year that I just had to make it a feature...

BACK TO THE TABLE...

I borrowed some ideas found on my latest addiction - Pinterest - and put pine cones upright in mercury glass vases and vintage trophies

scattered a few on the table, too (frosted with snow) and added a couple of mercury glass pine cone ornaments.

the mercury glass hurricanes were especially beautiful when the candles were lit

and when paired with mercury glass candlesticks and votives the whole table glowed

I added silver chargers and placed everything on a brown runner

the large central pine cone was a purchase from Crate and Barrel last year.

and the mercury glass was gathered over the years from many different places

I used glass acorn picks from Michaels, as napkin rings, with brown linen napkins to complete the picture

CHRISTMAS IS COMING... and its RED!

This season is going to be a little different

My schedule is already full

but I so want to add a little Christmas class

because we are looking at things differently this year

and there are so many who have been impacted by the economy

in so many ways

I want to add a little Christmas class - or two

and teach you how to make some lovely little Christmas decorations

inexpensively, in fact - cheaply

(but they won't look cheap)

and some handmade gifts you will be proud to give

and talk about how to use what you have

to create a fresh new look or enhance the old

so think about that for a minute

while I show you photos from our girls day out

a day full of inspiration and ideas at Rogers Gardens

Red was the color of the day - mixed with neutrals of black and gray

Look closely at the wreaths, they are comprised of a smaller berry wreath

inside a larger green wreath -

great way to make a larger statement with that berry wreath hanging around your house.

Plaid was the fabric choice - it covered the walls and was the choice for the ribbon

this larger wreath incorporated three large berry covered balls, with apples and shiny red ornaments

the wall of whimsical silhouettes

were especially fun

with red and black wall coverings - they popped against the background

I loved that they broke up some of the silhouettes into two frames

and not necessarily matching ones

these would be so simple to recreate

I love how the image often escapes the frame

There was a lot more red in the florals - Amaryllis and roses (all faux, but lovely)

and in the courtyard the real flowers were stunning en mass

Cyclamen for shady spots - a favorite of mine

When my husband saw this photo he fell in love with the faux trophy heads

with the wreath around them

what is it with men and animal heads anyway?

but I will admit they were stunning

and the white porcelain heads were beautiful

and sold out

another idea to use in your home

drape garland in an area you may not normally use it, like a cupboard or armoire

spread the joy around a little

near the nutcrackers, a display of amaryllis

in urns

and another pretty double wreath idea

in beautiful vibrant red

I'm still kicking myself for not bringing Mr. Santa home with me

I loved him....

and this tree was amazing

entirely in red and crystal

loved this little bench and the cheerful pillows

black and silver - proof not everything was red

I loved the urns with the tinsel trees in them

and this area was all gold and glitter

the angel was covered with gorgeous big mica flakes

lovely

but my favorite of the day, by far,

were the lanterns

full of fresh greens and red florals

red roses, red berries, red balls

beautiful

I'm definitely doing this at my house this year

so, back to the classes

there will be a small class charge for my time

and I will collect and assemble all the materials -

(cheaper for you that way

as you don't have to buy a whole bag of jingle bells to make one santa hat)

so if you are interested in a fun little class

with maybe 3-4 inexpensive crafts to choose from

with all materials provided

with fun company

plus refreshments and lots of easy ideas for the holidays

TAKES CENTER STAGE FOR CHRISTMAS

I love a 'natural' look.

A look of fresh greens, berries and pinecones,

with perhaps a touch of frost....

That more often translates into faux greens,
faux berries and some fake snow or icy glitter touches
but the pinecones are real
and they are the star of this post....

So Let's Get Started,
here are some ideas I've been collecting - using pinecones
because they are iconic
and beautiful
and inexpensive..

these long narrow pinecones caught my eye

I love that they are hanging as an ornament, with silver baubles

and a little silver paint

how simple to make,

a large silver bead at the top attached with wire

(add a hanging loop)

and one or more large beads wired to the bottom

(add a chandelier crystal for extra sparkle)

and spray some with krylons mirror finish silver spray

or touch the edges with glue or mod podge and dust with glitter

(I can't wait to do this!)

So you may have noticed that pinecones are BIG this year

you can count on seeing them everywhere -

these are a little more simple, hung with ribbon

I'd probably have to add some sparkle - you can never have too much sparkle :)

Fall's warmth

and Winter's dramatic contrasts.

Each of us has a particular palette we choose to dress in, paint our nails with, and plant in our garden - but when it comes to wall color even the most color courageous among us are stumped.

Some of you have specific questions, and I will do my best to answer them or at least lead you in the right direction....

QUESTION #1

Hello, I just spent the past week and weekend struggling to pick a color for the walls of our kitchen. The cabinets are beech, the countertop is ubatuba granite and the floor is a mix of green, beige and white. I have painted some samples on the walls. Putnam ivory (BM) is a bit too yellow and dark. The muslin (BM) is too light. Any thoughts? What do you think about a green or peach? Thanks so much.

Dear Anonymous: Green, beige, white and the light beech cabinets with the darkness of ubatuba granite - I think I'd go a gray/green in a very soft tone - on the light side. In the peach tones - I'd go bolder - peach is more 90's - a dated hue - but a terra cotta or persimmon is current and bolder. It would be hard for me to give you an exact color since I don't know the exact hue of green on your floor, but you may try one of these and see if they blend with your colors:
Benjamin Moores: Hancock Green and Guilford Green

Hancock Green, Guilford Green (Benjamin Moore) Vert de Terre (Farrow & Ball)

Farrow and Ball's Vert de Terre. Also look at Benjamin Moore's Soft Fern or Mesquite.

Mesquite is a little darker, but still a great gray toned green.

Dear Anonymous: Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore is a greige, or a soft grey with a beige or warm undertone. I also like Wedgewood Gray - a beautiful gray blue has plenty of light in it.

hey Claudine, im looking for a color for my new bathroom. I have an espresso vanity, multi color slate floor and white subway tile shower with slate accents/floor.
Im thinking of a grayish color. In the hallway leading up to the bathroom we have manchester tan - so I want to make sure it flows. Any suggestions.

I'll start by asking you a question. Slate is a natural stone that is multicolored in tones from dark gray and orange/russet tones to blues and greens. What colors does your floor contain? Since I don't have that information - a color that would go well with either the warm or cool tones and nicely also with Manchester tan and espresso woodwork and white tile...

Try Valspar's Autumn Fog, Behr's Flint Smoke or Benjamin Moore's Silver Gray

Blue tones would go well with warmer tones in the slate - I'd go with a grayed down blue/green - like Wythe Blue by Benjamin Moore - their 2012 color of the year. Blue in all its hues is coming back in a big way for 2012. A lighter GREEN/BLUE hue that is very beautiful with dark woods and tans is Sea Salt by Benjamin Moore.

Again, you are on the right track, I just suggest trying a couple out on poster board (2 coats) and taping them in the actual room. I also suggest trying Grant Beige, it is one of Benjamin Moore's most popular gray/beige colors. Browns look wonderful with those tones and your Silver Fox as well as the grey with the blue undertones should work as well. Good luck!

I didn't go overboard this year,

just a little Halloween here and there

my favorite bits and pieces

and one or two new

a spider here and there

some silhouettes

but I did pull out ALL of the Halloween boxes

WAYYYYYY too many

I will be going through and getting rid of a LOT of stuff

One thing I WON'T be getting rid of are the pumpkin lights

I've had them forever and put them up every year

everytime I see them

they make me smile

I've been collecting bottles here and there

old and new -

for a witch's apothecary -

I have really creepy labels, too, but haven't had the time to print them and apply

.... still, these look fun even without the labels

Our glittery visitor came home last year

I wasn't sure about him, but my husband LOVED him

so he stayed

and he's growing on me

somewhere I have a top hat for him - probably in one of those boxes....

his friend came home with me this year - a new addition

and I definitely like him better

he's sparkly too, although I don't think you can see it in the photo

I found him at Rogers Gardens and

added the tinsel and pleated paper collar

and speaking of Rogers Gardens, we visited both the Halloween

and Christmas displays there

So I told my son, away at college, that I'd decorated a little for halloween

his reply was to please leave them up until he comes home for Thanksgiving....

So, I'm apologizing ahead of time to all Thanksgiving guests who may be startled by Mr. Glitter Bones sharing our table .... its for my boy - and he's my hero.
