I was recently interviewed for a website that found me via social media. I actually post there, it's the blog that I shamefully neglect.. I decided to share the questions they asked and my response for anyone else who might be interested!

1. How did your passion for travel start? 2. Where was the first place you visited? 3. Favorite place you've been? 4. Least favorite place you've been/bad traveling experiences? 5. Do you speak any other languages? If not, how do you deal with that when traveling? 6. Do you have any traveling tips for our readers? 7. What inspires you? 8. You often post about your family, can you tell us a little about them? 9. Where do you currently live? 10. Do you have any goals that you would like to share with us? 11. Do you plan on moving? 12. How often do you travel? 13. Is there anything that you would like our readers to know about you?

1. I've always thrived while traveling, even when I was a younger. As an adult, wanting to move away but already having an established career has kept me from being able to do so. Traveling has been the balance in my life for the sake of my sanity. 2. I grew up snowboarding every year with my family, so I would say the West Virginia mountains during winter were my first experience out of state. 3. That's a tough question because I love everywhere I've been for different reasons. I don't think you can compare the snow covered mountains of Canada to the sandy beaches of Hawaii. They're both breathtaking in their own beautiful way. 4. Florida is honestly my least favorite place. Funny that's where I live.. I'm not one for the heat and I despise not having seasons. I don't think any travel experience is bad. The less smooth times teach you how to better prepare for your future adventures! 5. I took 2 years of Spanish in high school and still couldn't tell you anything except "Hello." I think research is key in this area. If you're traveling somewhere you know there will be an English barrier, decide if you're willing to wing it or if you need to hire a translator. I've done both in the past. However, I've found in a lot of foreign countries, they're almost as interested in knowing about me as I am in knowing about them. (Greece in particular) haha they bent over backwards to help me in every way they could! Being a young, American blonde has it's perks! :)😉 6. I think my biggest tip would be to take risks and don't be afraid of the unknown. I've found my most cherished moments were ones I almost didn't have because I was overthinking the risk or the unfamiliarity. 7. I'm inspired by go getters. People who do everything in life to the best of their ability. Who chase after their dreams no matter how big and refuse to settle for anything less. 8. My family will always come first. I think it's important to have a solid support system. They're the backbone to the life that I've created and while people come and go through all stages of life, I can always count on my family for anything and everything. 9. I'm currently a Lake City, FL resident. 10. I am constantly meeting and creating new goals. I think it's most important to have achievable goals. It's so easy to get caught up in life and if we set unrealistic goals we just end up discouraged. Start small and work your way big. You'll be surprised the progress you can make! 11. I have all intentions and hopes to move away. I'm just waiting for the Lord to open up the door of opportunity in his time. 12. I travel as much as physically possible. I work crazy hours so If I'm fortunate enough to have a break, I take FULL advantage. 13. I just want to encourage all of you to chase after what you want in life. Don't allow the worlds idea of how your life should be, dictate the lifestyle you live. You have to do what's right for you, no one else has to walk in your shoes! <3

Travel Series part 2

Since my last post was such a hit, I was excited to get started on part two! I'm slightly nervous for this post though. Because it has everything to do with finance. Finances are such a personal thing. People also have a tendency to become very guarded about the subject. So I want to pre-address this post by saying this is not the only way of going about managing your money. I'm not saying I have my life all figured out, I'm just telling you how this particular method has worked for me when it comes to saving money and more specifically how we are able to travel.

*BUDGETING*- I feel like a budget is such a broad term that is often misused.
"Yeah, I budget."
"Oh really, what outline do you find helpful?"
"Oh, well I mean I write down how much I make."
Budgets are not meant to complicate things or to make you feel restrained. In retrospect they are used for the exact opposite. I personally don't know how anyone goes about a daily routine without one, but again, different people think differently.

I spoke briefly on living within your means in my last post and this would be where that would apply. It's important to not only know very specifically how much you make each month, but also how much you are putting out. I understand circumstances are different for everyone, so please don't misunderstand me. But more often than not people put out way more than what they are bringing in and that is where you can start to get yourself in trouble. Heck, credit cards have made it so easy! I know there are times in which using a credit card is necessary, however if you use this one simple rule, you might save yourself the struggle before it happens.

If you don't make it, don't spend it. If you want it, find a way to work harder for it. Only AFTER you have bridged the gap, should you do so. I know... so simple, right? You'd be surprised how many people think it's rocket science.

*SEARCH THE DEALS* - This is actually almost one of my favorite parts of traveling outside of the actual experience. You know that super rewarding feeling you get when you score a pair of designer jeans for a steal? Well, you can do the same thing with booking your vacations if you put in a little time for "couponing."

Some people are better off financially than I will ever be and can afford to book 5 star hotels in the ritziest of places for every occasion. However, I'm not above admitting I am NOT that person. Don't get me wrong, I don't put myself up in roach motels... but I also know that when I'm traveling I'm not there for the hotel experience, ya feel me? I want to feel safe and have a clean place to shower but come sunrise, I'm not going to be there so why spend an absurd amount? Matt and I are huge believers in AirBnB. If you haven't heard of it before, leave my blog right now and check it.. because YASS. There are trips that we do choose to book a hotel just for the simple fact of convience... however, AirBnB has saved us HUNDREDS of $$$$ and I highly recommend.

*MINIMALIST* - Again, this may not be feasible for everyone depending on what your travel plans are but we are big on being outdoors and have zero need for the glitz and glamour. SO we opt out of checking bags. Something some people don't even think twice of doing, however for two people, depending on what airline you use, checkin one bag per person each way can end up adding $200 to your trip before you even realize it.

We also MAXIMIZE the time on our vacations by booking flights that leave at absurd hours in the night/morning and you'd be surprised how much you can save just by being flexible. Sky miles are another super nifty thing to take advantage of.

9/10 we rent a vehicle where we go. We stray away from using public transportation and rent a small sedan for usually no more than $20- $25 a day. That right there is less than one single cab fair. Depending again on location that can vary, but we have found through our many experiences that not only is the convenience of having a vehicle nice, but we have saved a significant amount of money that way.

*PRIORITIES* - Honestly, that's what everything boils down to is what are your priorities. Are you in it for the fancy meals that cost more than a car payment? Because if you are, by all means, you do you boo. Is that window view overlooking downtown worth the $600 + a night?

Because I rather eat from a food truck while walking the streets completely submerged IN the town than eat gourmet food I can't pronounce while looking at the town through a window. Everyone is different. I'm just here to tell you that traveling can be done affordably. I have experience to show for it and the freedom from debt to continue doing it. I can only hope everyone who has the desire to travel can say the same.

Travel series Part 1

Listen, we all know I'm a terrible blogger, I've stopped trying to deny it at this point. I'm all over the place. I find myself feeling discouraged that I don't have time to dedicate and finally I just told myself to stop. I would wake up early, drive to my parents house so my sister could take photos for me, then turn around and change into clothes that I actually wear to work. No one wants to see what I really wear to work because lets be honest, no one is gonna be searching the internet for duplicates! lol So silly, right? I'd work so late that I would go home, crash and never even end up making a post. Instead of beating myself up over not fitting the mold of these other bloggers, why not just conform my blog to fit my lifestyle.. GENIUS, right? I have received so many comments, texts and e-mails asking about my travels. I feel like instead of forcing my blog to be something I struggle to make consistent... I should just make it me. After all, isn't that what makes blogging interesting and enjoyable to read? So here's to a new leaf.. a blog thats truly all over the place, just like me.

I feel like to be completely transparent with everyone I need to back up and share how I got to the point in life where I COULD travel. Sometimes the internet can be so misleading and posts can cause people to think opposite of what we intend. I only say this because I come in contact with so many people on a regular basis and common statements can really start to get under your skin. Such as: "Must be nice" or my personal fave, "Wow, you're actually at work for once?" I would find myself trying to defend my lifestyle when finally I had enough. Who's business is it what I do with my life? No ones. Yes, I choose to post it on the internet, but I don't need to justify anything to anyone. Jealousy makes people say some mean things. Thick skin sure does come in handy!

Traveling as an adult takes preparation as a teen! Travel has been a passion of mine for many, many years but until recently, it was a lot more dreaming and a lot less actual travel. I could go into deep detail on the budgeting and planning that was involved, if that's something you guys want to know, but for starters I just want to give you guys some tips that you can take and do with what you please.

* LIVE INSIDE YOUR MEANS * - It's so sad to me when I see people who are ultimately limited in life due to financial decisions that have been made. Hey, maybe that outrageous car payment is something they are passionate about, who am I to judge? For me, materialistic things are less and less of importance when compared to life experience. My husband and I were raised completely different growing up and honestly, many of our first years of marriage were spent deciding ( from me, more demanding.. haha ) how limited we were or weren't going to be by our finances. I praise God every day that both of us worked our way through college and didn't have loans up to our eyeballs. My sincerest prayers go out to those are unable to say the same.
I look back on the times when I was younger and all my friends were given brand new fancy cars at 16 while my Dave Ramsey in the flesh father tried to teach me the importance of working hard for my own things. Which only resulted in the ugliest chunk of metal I was so proud to have paid cash for and call my first car. Since at the time I was too annoyed, I don't think I ever had the chance to say, thanks dad! It's a difficult thing to master, especially if you were raised not to know any better, but I promise you nothing taste better than financial freedom feels. Wow, I sound like Dave Ramsey myself.

* QUANITY vs. QUALITY * - Here is where I differ from so many others. Travel for me is an escape from everything inside my normal routine. I so badly want to move. There have been many of conversations that will hopefully become actions in the future. However, I'm not going to put my life on hold in the meantime. I use travel as a way of escaping so I don't fall into this rut of discontentment because of the fact that I still live somewhere after 4 years of wanting to leave. That being said, I rather take multiple small trips over one big trip.
My family always takes one big vacation in the winter. Its the same week every year so Dad can prepare! When the time comes, he has the financial ability to splurge. To some, thats what travel is, one trip in which you totally splurge.
For me, it's different. I wouldn't be content with only one trip. Instead, I take my time and do a ridiculous amount of research. Weighing all of the options possible to find the most affordable option. I rather budget myself while I'm away than constantly splurge and have regret when I get home. I personally canNOT enjoy myself unless a trip is paid in full BEFORE we leave. I've always been that way. So wether we postpone a little bit until we have the funds or we cut corners and maybe hit up a grocery store for lunch meat vs. eating out every meal. That is a hardcore rule that I don't budge on. It also comes in handy when I get home and have those pesky post-vacation blues... we can immediately start planning our next trip without the stress of trying to pay off our previous. I'm just saying, f i n a n c i a l f r e e d o m.

*STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES or SHOP TIL YOU DROP* - Last but certainly not least, I think it's important to have a gameplan before you leave town. What are your goals? Are you planning on kicking back or kicking it into high gear? I personally cannot STAND doing things I can do at home while i'm away. For instance: You will not catch me in a mall, sleeping in or eating at any restaurants I have in my home town.. BUT thats just my preference! Some people prefer a slower pace and relaxation. Ninety-nine percent of the vacations we take are spent outdoors, so we rarely even have those issues. However, all of our vacations are short and require an extremely fast pace due to our work schedules. So i've found the more time you spend planning ahead, the less time you'll waste trying to figure it out once you've reached your destination!

I hope these tips help you guys when you plan your next adventure! I have multiple trips that I haven't documented yet, ( imagine that, me slacking...) that I hope to reflect back on and possibly even go into deeper detail as to how I went about our planning process!

Stripes & Suede

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked, "Where do you shop?" I might not be a millionaire but I sure would be one happy camper! The truth is, I don't have a specific place I shop. I don't have a single store that I prefer more than the other... I will go anywhere with a deal. Which brings me to this post. My entire outfit is from Forever21. I feel like they have really stepped up their game as of late. I went through a period of time where I refused to walk into the store for the sake of my sanity. Like, god forbid I ask where an item is located because I'm convinced NO ONE knows the answer to that question. But I've kinda grown to like that. I'm not one of those people who walk into a store, see something on a mannequin, purchase every piece and wear it as such. I love finding random items I don't see a lot of people fighting over, and wearing them my own way. I love even more when people can't tell where my clothes are from by a silly lion emblem over my right shoulder or some kind of branding somewhere super noticeable. So kudos to you forever 21 for making affordable, stylish pieces that don't scream, HEY LOOK WHERE I SHOP. Can you guys tell thats one of my biggest pet peeves? Anyways, rant over. Moral of the story, give Forever 21 a chance... even if a zanax is required in the process! Happy Friday friends!

Black is Bae

There is a very large portion of my closet that consists of all black and there is a very good reason. Black is the answer to all of life's questions. What do I wear out tonight? What is appropriate for this occasion? What won't make too much of a statement but has "You're a smokeshow" written all over it? .. shall I continue? The list goes on but THE number one reason I wear black 90% of the time is because sharpie matches so perfectly to cover those pesky little bleach stains us hairstylists love so much. haha It's also super easy to blend into the background when you miraculously end up photobombing every wedding you do hair and makeup for. Needless to say, black is my jam. So here's me, jamming out. Happy friday loves! I finally got my hands on a Calvin Klein set in my size!! I wasn't sure exactly what size to order online and every time I went to purchase in store, they were sold out! So, shoutout to Urban for being on top of their crap and keeping things in stock! Preciate it.

Fun fact: I rarely online shop unless I know exactly what size I am at that particular store. Because if it doesn't fit, it will never actually make it to the mailbox to be returned.

Ok, I had to include this photo ^^^ serisouly, I die! haha Incase you ever wanted to know what goes down behind the scenes of my blog photos, you now know.

I want to share with you the best and the worst thing about these pants. What do you guys want first? Yea, good news first? Okay cool.. THEY WERE FREE!!! Linda listen, Pacsun is my weakness. (Kudos to anyone who caught on to the Linda reference) I literally own half the store...only wish I was kidding. But let me share a secret.. They have this super nifty sale where you buy one article of clothing and get 3 free. WHAT! Yes, THREE free articles of clothing. So, I hit up all 4 stores within a 100 mile radius of me and load up. I'm beyond okay with how ridiculous that makes me sound. Do you have free pants? That's what I thought..

The worst part, they're suede and hot AF. Not pants I would encourage anyone who lives in FL to purchase. But ya live and ya learn... THEY WERE FREE PEOPLE.

I spent a total of $100 and came home with 12 new pieces of clothing. BARGAIN. Moral of the story... Pacsun has this sale multiple times a year, so keep an eye out.

Hi Wednesday! I don't know why I always want to wear that one piece of clothing that totally doesn't mesh with the season. (In Florida we have hot, hottest and even hotter months) So honestly, I don't know why I even own jackets...because I'm in love, thats why. I've owned this baby for years and recently It just stays on my body at all times. I just want to start off by saying this post has taken some time to pull together. For one, It took me a good while to recover from said events enough to actually be able to write about it. Secondly, this summer has been so incredible but so, so, BUSY! I know I say that in just about every post... maybe my lifestyle isn't for the daily blogger but I still enjoy it. So here's to a single blog post a month! I promise I'll make it a goodie ;)

So I mentioned how Mattie and I made a trip to Las Vegas over Memorial day weekend... but I didn't explain the real reasoning behind going. Funny story: I have this bad habit of constantly researching hikes, trails, all things outdoors that look fancy, ect.. add them to a list of places I want to visit and eventually, I make it happen. Well, this particular trail I had been eyeballing for well over a year. I did all my research ( so I thought ) planned it all out in my head and then very carefully presented it to Matthew. Poor guy, had no idea what he was getting into. I presented it as a weekend in Vegas with a little road trip to the Grand Canyon one day, all fun and games. Being the wonderful hubby that he is, he agreed and we were off. Now don't get me wrong, I wanted to see Vegas.. but my sole intention was to check this hike off the bucket list... I conveinantly failed to mention to Matt the length of the hike, the strenuosity and the time it was going to take out of our trip. SO.. after our night out on the town, I made the suggestion we should probably get a good nights rest for the following long day we had ahead.

I set the alarm for 3:30am. We had to leave our hotel by 4 in order to make it to the trailhead by sunrise. For any fellow hikers, you guys know that trailheads aren't like a mall location that you can put into your GPS and then all is well. We were in the middle of the desert and I was using a map to find this place. Needless to say, I was slightly stressed with the pressure to pull this off. Too much time getting turned around would prevent starting the trail early enough, the whole thing would be a no go. With only one argument as to wether or not I was reading the map properly.. We finally made it to the trailhead. Now let me back up for a hot minute to say, our original game plan was to start looking for a gas station about 100 miles out to stock up on food, water ect.. however, funny thing about the desert, there aren't gas stations. haha. This was mistake 1 of MANY. We had stopped by Hardees earlier that morning and ate a healthy, I'm going on the longest hike of my life, I should eat a biscuit, type breakfast.. I had a lovely cup of ice and half a biscuit left over. So that is what we started our hike with. Now normally, I would have said its not a good idea to go without food and water but thankfully I knew there was a town 10 miles in that had food and water that we could buy, so we only had to make it 10 miles. No biggie, right?

We pack our melted ice and half biscuit in our packs and start to head for the trail when I noticed there were signs posted everywhere that said: "ABSOLUTELY NO DAY HIKERS" my heart DROPPED. I wasn't kidding when I said I had done my research and NO WHERE did they mention they didn't allow day hikers. Matt quickly replied with, "aww sad, guess we can't go." haha but I wasn't having it. There was a total of maybe 10 people stretching and preparing for the hike and I made my way through the group looking for the trail guide. I explained to her how I literally had traveled half way across the country to do this hike, not to mention woke up at 3:30 and drove 4 hours to start but that I wasn't going to just turn around and call it quits. She responded with a, "I'm sorry ma'am but we only have capacity to hold so many people at the bottom per night and that unfortunately her group was already full.. blah, blah, blah. So I kindly asked if the trail was well marked and then walked away. Mistake number 2. At this point Matt was so annoyed with me. He isn't one to break the rules but he was in no way going to leave me ( because I had already started down the trail to keep from someone stopping me.. ) However, I must say it was slightly discouraging to see the people hiking up what we were hiking down. I asked how long they had been at it and a few responded with " 5-6 hours" I refused to turn back so I just grinned and said, oh well, we are in good shape, we'll be fine. The other thing I didn't think twice about was the rocks and how unstable the ground was. Usually when I hike I just wear my chacos and all is well. Learn from me people, BUY UGLY OVER THE ANKLE BOOTS AND SAVE YOUR FEET. ok... but for real. Thankfully we were keeping a good pace and we made it to the bottom in 3 hours. Or at least what we thought was the bottom. We entered into the town of Supai and they literally had a team of people checking you in. Since I had the bright idea to do the hike without permission, we "accidentally" created a distraction in order to sneak through. Only downfall was, we had ZERO idea where we were going. The town was so rural, I felt like I had stepped back in time due to all the cattle and lack of normalcy.

We found a little market and when we walked in I literally heard the hallelujah chorus.. they had a vending machine with crushed ice. ( insert praising hands emoji) It was a sign from God. haha anyways, we purchased a gallon of water, protein bars and enough food to last us the rest of the afternoon. I asked the young girl behind the counter which way the waterfall was and she literally just pointed, not a single word, just pointed. I'm sure the look on my face said a lot. haha but we headed in the direction she pointed. Now, I only panicked like, 2 more times because little did we know where she pointed would be like 2-3 more miles until we came upon any sign of a waterfall. I seriously thought I had us stranded. Then we finally heard it. Couldn't find it, but we heard it. After a short maze downhill we saw the most beautiful waterfall. Water the most ridiculously gorgeous color too! We set up camp, ate lunch, cliff jumped, rested up and took more pictures than I am even proud to admit.

At this point it was a little after lunch and we decided not knowing exactly what time the sun goes down, we would start heading back.. we stocked up on water again and peaced out. The best part: We ran into the tour of people we saw at the top of the trailhead on our way out. The lady asked why we were heading back out at this hour and I told her we didn't even have a tent to stay even if we wanted too. She gave us this look of concern and wished us luck. Matt and I were both slightly caught off guard by her response but I mean, what can ya do? Now another mistake we made was not taking anything that told us how far we had gone/had to go. We downloaded an app but it needed service to work (which clearly wasn't happening.) So we went solely based off what looked familiar from the trip down. haha I feel like such an amateur now that i'm writing all of this down. No judgment, okay people?

Mistake #7534 - While we were down there, we jumped in the falls. When we got out to get dressed somehow our shoes ended up soaked. Not even a mile in, BOTH the soles of my feet were one giant blister. Secondly, the not so terrible heat on the way down, changed with a quickness. I'm not even exaggerating I felt like I was in a oven. Florida is hot as heck but it's humid so I just sweat, there... you literally feel like you can't breathe. So we DOWNED our water. About an hour later... we see familiar stuff, surely we're doing alright... another hour later, we run out of water. No biggie considering we are almost out, right? Negative ghost rider. More familiar stuff but this dang trail was never ending. At this point we were just barely over half way. Finally, 2 hours later, we make it to the switchbacks that take us out of the canyon... it took over an hour to finish the last 2 miles directly UP the canyon. Tears were shed, I will not say wether from Matt or I, haha. But seriously I think I cried the entire last mile from a combined pain from my dehydration and blisters that were at this point so horrible I looked like a crippled little lady. After 5 1/2 hours, we finish what took us only 3 hours to get down.

News Flash: When you decend 5,200 feet into the canyons, you eventually have to climb 5,200 feet back out.

We made it to our car, but the funny thing now was we had to drive over 100 miles out of the reservation before we could even find a gas station. The hunger and thirst was real. We rock, paper, scissored to see who the lucky one was who had to drive and matt lost. I don't think it was physically possible for me to be behind the wheel. Imagine the WORST hangover of your life, paired with a migraine out of this world and soreness from parts of your body you didn't even know existed. That was the current state in which we were in. The closest food facility we found was a Arby's. Satisfying, right? We parked and just looked at each other. It was seriously something from out of a movie, neither of us could move.. we kinda just fell out of the car. I couldn't stand, I couldn't wear shoes, I couldn't do anything. So here was the single least proud moment of my life: I walked into a random Arby's barefoot and crippled, layed the frick out in a booth, covered my face to keep from being sick and just layed there. Matt came out of the bathroom and said, "Babe, I just peed straight brown, I think I'm dying." haha. We ordered food but couldn't eat, we just stared at it. We ended up just drinking water and crawled back into the car and drove 3 hours back to our hotel.

The rest of the evening was a blur. I don't remember getting back to our room, or showering for that matter. Just sleep. Sleep off the dehydration and hike hangover from hell. Sleep, sleep and more sleep.

The next morning I decided to look through our pictures and came to realize we never made it to the falls in which we originally planned to hike. *DO NOT try to do this hike in one day. You will want to kill yourself if trying doesn't kill you first.
*It's the hardest place in the world to find, Do yourself a favor and hire a tour guide.
*Wear over the ankle boots or something with good ankle support unless you enjoy pain.
*Take more water than you ever thought possible to drink in one day
*Try to pick a less hot month than June, It was ungodly hot. I'm an idiot
*Bring someone encouraging... you're gonna need it.

Oh hi people!!! I'm ALIIIIIVE! ( If you didn't read that in Mushoo's voice from Mulan, go back and read it again.) But seriously, I'm about to get all kinds of chatty Kathy on you kids right now because it's been a hot minute! Work has been consuming my life. By consume, I mean, I should literally bring my toothbrush to the salon because I don't even understand the point in going home at this rate. It's funny how you pray for these things as a starting stylist and now that it has happened I'm like, whyyyy did I wish this upon myself?! haha jk. I love my clients. But I refuse to give them more than 12 hour days I have been. Which side note: I think it's funny so many people in my town have this idea that I'm always off gallivanting the world when in all actuality I'm posted up on the washing machine at work trying to scarf down a cracker while hair color processes. If I've learned one thing it's that people are going to think what they please... at 2 o'clock in the morning If I post a picture of me hiking a mountain, clearly I'm doing just that. (insert sarcastic tone.) Haha okay, that was an unexpected rant. I apologize.

My brother is married!!!!!!! The long awaited event has come and gone and it couldn't have been more perfect. I can't wait to get photos back so I can share them with you all! During all of the wedding festivities my sister was actually able to come home and live with me for the month! Having the whole family back together was such a memorable and exciting time! As nice as it was to have her as a roommate, I'm kinda excited to get back into a routine!

Matt and I have been slowly but surely remodeling our home. We've lived here for 5 years now and that's entirely too long to keep things the same. haha Nothing major since I still have my fingers crossed that we will move away in the near future, but enough to give the house a fresh look and smell of new. :) I might get around to posting before and after photos for you guys once we are finally finished!

Aside from the craziness of the wedding, remodeling, work and general life.. my photographer AKA my baby sister has been neck deep in finals for school. Needless to say she's put me on the back burner. haha I need to train one of the younger kids on the ole Canon so I have backup! Thankfully summer is right around the corner because I have lots of cute posts planned! Hope everyone has been enjoying life!! I love you all! XO

Climate Change

If only I could change climates as much as my photos on instagram portray I do.. can I get an amen? haha I'm writing this as I'm riding home from West Palm. As much as I loved the weather these past couple of days.. I would give a body part to be back in the snow!

So today I wanted to share with you guys an aggravation that I have and a solution I've discovered. I purchased this Plaid dress (yes, this is a dress, not a shirt) from Windsor ( similar HERE! ) this past fall. I actually already posted a few pictures wearing it when Bitty and I went to the pumpkin patch ( see more from that post here! ) However, I have very long legs. It's a struggle for me to wear almost any dress without looking inappropriate. At least in the sense of being able to move around comfortably without showing the goods! haha So a lot of the time I try to find something to layer or put under to help. This lace dress is actually a separate dress I can't wear by itself because its too short BUT it has adjustable straps that I loosened all the way and TADA! Layered it worked perfectly! I Also threw some tights in there considering the temps ;)

Also, can we talk about these Sorels for a long minute? I'm not one to splurge often and when I do it's usually only on sunglasses and denim.. I buy a lot of cheaper items because I know my style changes & I get bored with items easily. But if you know my addiction to being outside and my passion for snow.. these shoes were practically a no brainer investment. I NEVER WANTED TO TAKE THEM OFF. I packed a totel of 5 pairs of boots while I was there and don't actually remember wearing any but these. So if you're an adventurist like myself, I highly recommend these beauties! I want them in all black too (Check them out >> HERE!) but I think I need to convince Mattie to move to the mountains before that happens... they don't get much use in Florida.

Having a blog is a platform to share what you're truly passionate about. You see fashion blogs, stay at home moms that have blogs, makeup blogs, travel blogs... the list goes on. I don't like to limit myself to one specific title, which is why I like to use the term "Lifestyle blog" when referring to my own. Because here's the thing, Hair and Makeup is what I do, Fashion is what I love, DIY projects are how I unwind and travel is what I'm passionate about. I never want to have a blog that causes someone to look at my page and say, "Man, I wish I had money for that outfit." or "That's cool but I could never..." I don't think thats the point of blogging. I never want to come across as braggy, or non-relateable. I want to inspire people. Inspire them to try a new hairstyle or makeup look. To dress up every now and then.. because let's be honest, I wear workout clothes more than your average blogger. To take on a new hobby of knitting a scarf or making a cute DIY project for the house. To get out of your everyday routine and TRAVEL. Nothing makes me happier than to get a text from someone who told me that I inspired them to go hiking and asks what my favorite trails are.. That wanted to try snowboarding for the first time, what are some tips I could give them. THAT is why I blog. Because I'm truly happy where I am in life. I want others to feel comfortable in their skin and to enjoy life to the fullest. Because life is too short to be anything but HAPPY.

With that being said, Matthew and I opted out of Christmas presents this year in exchange for a trip to Utah. I would give up every materialistic item I own for the opportunity to travel the world. Matt... well, he's getting there. haha Hope you enjoy! XOXO

Be Mine... Valentine

I'm not even going to lie.. I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's day. I think it's silly to only celebrate your loved one on one specific day, but I'll use it as an excuse to dress up. Which is kind of a lie. Every year I spend Valentine's day on the slopes wearing something complete opposite of the look above. HOWEVER, I will be wearing this number out on a date, with my husband, sometime in the month of Febuary, to celebrate said "Valentine's Day." lol. Am I the only one who is totally over the traditional red or pink explosion of outfits every year? Don't get me wrong, I'll rock a red or pink lip, no doubt, but i'm going on strike and wearing all white. :)

If you're alive and breathing.. you've seen this photo. If you're a beanie addict like myself, you searched high and low for it. If you're a creative little nugget, you ended up just making one of your own, like I did.

What you'll need:
-A black beanie (I got mine for $2 at F21 on black Friday)
-Lace (I found mine at JoAnn fabric)
-Needle and thread (or a sister to sew it for you)

Simple enough, am I right? The hardest thing for me was finding lace that I liked.. I still wish I could have found some slightly more shear.. but I have a feeling this is only the first of many beanies I will be adding my own stamp to. I could lie and tell you I sewed it myself but we all know I'm not housewife enough for that.. so shoutout to my perfect little sister for sewing the lace on for me like a champ. No worries, I paid her in food and clothing privileges to my closet! Saying Goodbye to 2014..

This year has seriously flown by. So many exciting things and accomplishments that I wanted to reminisce on with anyone reading... Enjoy!

In January, I was so honored to be Featured in North Central Florida Bride as a Hair and Makeup artist! Weddings have always been a passion of mine, but this year that love and passion has grown tremendously.

I have been so blessed to be apart of 27 weddings this year. Along with various other events, it was a busy year! With no intentions of slowing down, I can't wait to see how many weddings I get to participate in 2015!

On May 17th I turned 23! I like to think I'm pretty baller at this whole grown up thing.

If you have followed me for any period of time, you know my passion for travel is intense. This year we made it all the way to Alaska! Probably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I'm so thankful for the opportunity to travel as much as we do. The bucket list never stops growing and this year I'm excited to see how many more things we can check off!

This handsome fella and I celebrated 4 years of marriage! Matthew and I try our best to live life to the fullest. I'm thankful for the adventurist side he has allowed me to bring out in him! Now if we could just figure out how to dodge the never ending question of "When will you guys have kids.. "

I celebrated 3 wonderful years at a amazing salon. I've grown to love my co-workers as though they were family. It's so refreshing to work in an atmosphere where everyone encourages each other to better themselves instead of comparing and criticizing which is what I so often see happen in salons. I'm also thankful for a boss lady who loves Jesus and her employees. Makes the days more enjoyable!

In the last year I've hiked 17 trails in 6 different states. Not bad for a Florida gal, right? haha I'm telling you, I was born to live in a huge city somewhere out West. *New years resolution for 2015: convince the hubs to move.*

We celebrated 10 years of Daddy being in full-time ministry! (My siblings and I celebrated surviving 10 years as Pastor Kids) That's so crazy to me! I'm just thankful the Lords plans are greater than ours! It's so amazing to watch everything unfold! Can't wait to see what the next 10 years bring!

These are just a few of the memories that stand out among many others. I wouldn't have changed a single thing in 2014. So many learning experiences that have shaped and developed me into the person I am today. I can truly say I'm excited and ready for 2015. Let's do this!

Merry Christmas Eve

This is the least Christmas Eve- looking post ever but hey - that's Florida for ya.

I truly live up to the procrastination queen name. I'm sure most of you already have your gifts neatly wrapped under the tree. Or maybe you're like me... I've been window shopping for a week or so and slowly started accumulating items in a pile on my living room floor. Just today I realized I'm not entirely finished buying for everyone and I haven't wrapped a single thing. Today is my first full day off since the holiday rush and I'm taking full advantage of the all black laid back attire. In this case, to fight the crowds so I can finish shopping. I hope everyone has a stress free and fun filled Christmas!

Tis the season!

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is a trip to the tree farm to cut down the perfect tree for our home. This year we cut down a tiny one due to Teagan's love for a tree her size. Haha! It worked out though because we were able to fit it in the trunk of my car no problem! I also had the most adorable idea for a tiny tree so Matthew agreed. However, we are those high maintenance people who have two. The larger tree we purchased from Lowe's which is totally cheating, I know, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do! Both of which are currently lit up and providing the perfect holiday atmosphere while I write this. The Christmas season is such an exciting time around my house! With both my family and Matt's we have so much going on there is truly never a dull moment. I'm looking forward to sharing photos throughout the rest of the month capturing those memories! Cherish this time with friends and family but don't forget the reason for the season! XOXO

Thanksgiving

Thankgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. I love the food and I absolutely LOVE the time spent and memories made with family.

I am beyond grateful that although my family is all spread out, each and every one of us do everything we can to be together. In years past we've met up at my house and watched the parade while the girls cook and the boys play football. This year we kept that tradition alive but drove to Arkansas to do so. My sister and her husband live there and the foliage made for beautiful family pictures!

I ordered these jumbo heads as a gag gift for Austin and Meg's engagement. I should have known my family would take it to the next level. These things have a way of showing up all the time. Including family photos when not everyone can be present.

I just want to give a quick shoutout to my sexy parents... because lets be honest, they're saints.

Winter is trying to make an appearance in Florida. Emphasis on the trying. Beginning of this week it was 80 degrees.. yet here I am, typing this in front of my fireplace wearing fuzzy socks. Am I the only one who's surprised anyone watches the weather channel these days... I mean, all you have to do is pick a social media sight and you'll find screenshots of the temp and status' left and right with everyones opinions. haha I'm such a hot natured person that the cold doesn't bother me in the least! I'm praying it hangs around... because that would be nice.

Fair festivities

The fair is my favorite thing about living in a small town. Something about it totally kicks off the holiday season for me. Of course Bitty and I had to make a date out of it! If these pictures don't completely make you melt, then something is wrong with you! I tell my parents all the time for as many times and she is mistaken for my daughter, i'm using her as a tax write off this year.. Haha but seriously, Teagan is my pride and joy.

I'm not a huge fan of the rides at the fair.. something about being able to put them up and take them down in the same week makes me fear for my life. It never fails though, I still ride them at least once. BUT THE FOOD!!! THAT is why I literally go every single night. Nothing beats a sausage dog and funnel cake for dinner. Can I get an AMEN? I mean, I had to up my cardio at the gym to make up for it but it was totally worth every bite. I say all of that to tell you a story. Teagan refuses to ride the rides. She couldn't care less about the food. That child is drawn like a magnet to the carnies and those dang games that might as well be labeled "traps that steal your money."

Teagan decided she was going to try her hand at winning a fish. She walked up to the Carnie with more confidence than I'd ever seen in a 6 year old. She asked the gentleman if she could throw the ball and try to make it into the fishbowl and he politely handed her a ball. Here comes the genius part: She throws it completely out of the tent, in the opposite direction and pretends to act defeated. The carnie then proceeds to say, "It's okay sweetie, you can try again!" He hands her a basket full of balls and she might as well have said, "game on sucker!" She warmed up that little arm and rubbed her hands together like she was about to pitch in the world series. On her second try she made it with no assistance from anyone. Needless to say, Teagan walked away with a free fish from a carnie who fell under her charm. Her fish's name is "Fish." It's been one week since Fish became a Cunningham and I pray it has a lifespan longer than the average for the sake of her first love. He wore a seatbelt home from the fair that day...
