Moron Watch # 2 - Facebook Photos Edition

Nope!! There isn't any dearth of morons in this world!!

Its just that, there is some 'stuff' that was keeping me busy from the past couple of weeks. More on that later !

Anyways, why do you think people click pictures? To create memories, right? Right! So, we agree till this point. Now why do people share pictures? To share memories. Simple!

Now my question is - who would you want to share your honeymoon memories with? Or rather WHY on the earth would you want to do that?? Every time I open Facebook, I find myself staring into a badly taken picture, with the guy holding the camera in his right hand and his nayi-naveli-dulhan in his left hand! More than 50% of the space in that picture is taken by the new-grooms arm (with a wrongly spelled tattoo of his ~~girlfriend~~ wife's name on his wrist!). And most of the times, the poor wife is pushed out of the frame with only her one eye and half-a-nose making into the picture!! :D :D

Now why would I or someone else want to see that?

Sharing wedding pictures is cool, as you give an opportunity to the lazy ones to witness your wedding from the comfort of their own bedrooms! But honeymoon pics!!

From what I remember, few years back there was a news about a couple from some PDS K R Puram sharing their pre-marriage honeymoon video! It didn't go very well with their parents, teachers and friends i guess ! :D

Ab bhaisahab, aap apne honeymoon pe jaake gaaiye, bajaaiye *wink wink*, ya naachiye! Hame aisi bakwaas fotos dekhne ki koi iccha nahi hai! :D

As they say - Every idiot with a camera is a photographer these days, and every idiot with a camera and a new-new-wife is a Moron in the making... :P

The Secret Letters Of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

I guess most of you already know my love for the book - The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari (those who don't should read that post) :D

So, when guys from DigiImprint Solutions offered me the next book written by the same author for review, I could not say no! Come to think of it, I have never said no to anything free :P

Secret Letter of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

Robin Sharma, the guy famous for selling millions of copies of his previous books, writes in such a mesmerizing yet simple tone, that you won't feel like keeping the book down. Though, it took me about 15 days to complete that book, partially because of my own hectic schedule, but nevertheless, I guess most of you guys can wrap this book up in one long sitting of 4-5 hours!

Frankly speaking, this book is not for every one of you reading this blog. This book, in particular, targets only those people who think that they have pretty much screwed up their personal life in the quest for corporate success. The book presents an exaggerated case of Jonathan Landry, a work-o-holic, who has pretty much screwed up all his relationships and friendships in life, because of spending 25 out of 24 hours/day in office.

...and then enters - the savior cousin - Julian Mantle! Julian is the guy who sold his Ferrari, to gain mental peace!! Can you fcuking believe that!!! :O :O :P

The savior cousin sends Jonathan on a around-the-globe-in-three-weeks pre-paid trip, to collect some Talismans, and associated pieces of parchments, containing words-of-wisdom related to these talismans.(before you google, let me tell you all Harry Potter fans - NO, talisman is not Hindi translation for Horcruxes :P)

The book gives you a simple message - "Have a good work-life balance guys! :D", but in the form of a story. The good part is - the protagonist has to travel to a new country to collect each talisman - and the writer has intricately described the beauty and the culture of each place, that you will immediately start Googling details about each of the country/city/place mentioned in the book!! Oh yes, there is a mention of India too, and the inevitable - Taj Mahal! The beauty of the book is that the Words-of Wisdom, the Countries and the Cultures are so well woven in the story, that you will never wonder - Abe, ye kya hua :D

During the course of the book, the protagonist is also updating a journal (with pen and paper, imagine!!) to jot down his thoughts, after getting gyaan from each parchment! In short, he was writing a paper blog!! (how 1990ish! :P ), which, eventually becomes a balance sheet of his life, and helps him in getting his life on track. Of-course we all love happy endings!! :D

But then, there is a short twist in the end, which I am not telling you here!! :P

I would give this book a rating of 474 on 629 ! That my dear friends, falls among - A Good Read category! :D

Yuvraj Singh

... or Yuvi as we call him ... is my second favorite player in the world. First one being Sehwag.

I seriously am pretty agnostic towards the usual big-wigs of cricketing world, be it some oldie scoring 100 tons or someone taking 10 wickets in a single test match.

Its the rawness, flamboyance and aggression that makes me follow these two guys! And out of the two, only Yuvi has all three of them, Sehwag still lacks in the flamboyance department! Some qualities are inherently Punjabi, you see!

Seeing Yuvi's condition - cancer at 31 !! - I can only wonder about God's screwed up plans and our helplessness in front of him. Seriously God, what the hell were you thinking? There are way too many people across the border, who deserve this shit, but not Yuvi!

Here is me, wishing Yuvi all the luck in life for a fast recovery. Hope to see you on the field sometime this year, and hit 6 sixes to every baller who has ever crossed your path!

Bye bye winters !!

Finally, Delhi is witnessing a bit of sunshine these days! yey!!

Although winter season is my favorite time of the year, but this year, saala kuch zaada hi ho gaya! Actually 'kuch' nahi bahut zada ho gaya! Along with the God-damned single digit temperatures, this year Noida witnessed strong winds as well!! Saala itni zabardast thand thi baahar, ki rat ko ek baalti paani gira do, and tadaaa!! Subha tak ice-skating ring tayyar! :D

By the way, since we are talking about winters, I just remembered good old school days! Actually, I could have published this incident in my upcoming book "Winter survival guide for engineers", but for the benefit of the public at large, let me share with you my best winter trick here (for free)! :D

BTW, needless to say, this is going to be a guys-only type of book! (waise bhi, engineering colleges me ladkiyan hoti hi kaha hain :P ) and you will be able to buy it from Kindle store! :P

Actually, as you must have guessed, being a guy, and an engineer, and that too from a hostel only college, I am water-o-phobic !! (yeah yeah, my vocab is shitty, if you know the right word for it, write it on a paper, and shove it up your... :P) Anyways, moving on, so I have never been too fond of taking a bath, and Delhi winters just reinforce my belief in the fact that - only dirty utensils need washing! :D

Although, rest of the stuff was taken care of by applying deo like they do in AXE advertisements, but somehow, I was never ever able to make my unwashed hair sit and adjust properly on my head!! Eventually, a few of them stood up in protest, and that too around the epicenter of my head!! Damn! Ab dekho bhai, punjabi khoon hai, badtameezi to kissi ke baap ki nahi jheli zindagi me! :D So the scissor in the pic used to be my weapon of mass destruction! Jo saala aawaz uthayega, kat ke washbasin me beh jaayega :D !

Eventually, when the winters ended, the hair around the epicenter of my head were remarkably shorter than the rest of the head! (and no one could find a solution to this puzzle :P ) Though, there are several American universities researching on the same, and you can exclusively read their results in ToI !

And trust me, this trick hasn't failed me till date! Pehle pyaar se baal bithane ki koshish karo, warna **insert Akshay kumar-esque pervertish laughter here** :D

Anyways, you guys must be thinking why such a long and boring post, and that too suddenly out of nowhere? This is just to tell everyone, once and for all - I am not going bald, it's just that the fucking winter season just ended! :D :D

Moron Watch # 1

Since this blog was created with the vision of insulting people (FAQ), let me carry this tradition further with pinpointing few more idiotic incidents which I witness in daily life! (Yeah, I am mean that ways! :D )

So exactly how much effort does it take for a person to climb up to first floor using stairs? Tough question!

Daily, (well almost daily) I see a cute chick wait for approximately 8-10 minutes for the lift (its a busy building you see). Finally, when she gets into the lift, she very carefully scans all the buttons inside the lift! (Actually I feel she is either dumb or dyslexic, and gets confused seeing so many numbers! :D ) After scanning the numbers for approximately 30 seconds, she presses the button for the - wait for it - First Floor!!

Every singly day, she repeats the same ritual!! And every single day, I am like What the Fuck dude!!

So the first Moron Watch award goes to the Lift Girl !! Taaliyan!! :D :D

... for spending 8 minutes 30 seconds waiting for the lift, every single day, instead of taking the stairs, which would take her less than 30 seconds to reach her office!! And secondly, getting confused with the button numbers every single day! As they say, beauty and brains... ... :D :D

Beautiful Beautiful Words

I always refrain from writing not-so-happy stuff on this blog, but sometimes, you read something so true, something with which you can relate so closely, that you just can't refrain yourself.

I know I can never write so simply and yet so beautifully, so I am going to paste few lines written by Om Malik on his tech blog. Most of you reading this, won't be able to relate to what he is saying, but the ones, that are leading a broken life like me, will surely feel the emotion in his words.

When my life hiccuped, like it has for so many others who go through similar events, I was wondering if it would ever be same. I wasn’t too thrilled with how things had turned out. I was forced to deal with life’s unpredictability and unfortunately there isn’t a manual for dealing with that. You just have to get up every morning and deal with it. Sometimes it is depressing and sometimes it fun. But most of the time it is just a state of existence.

Sigh.. indeed.. it is just a fucking state of existence...

Bye Bye 2011

Finally, we bid adieu to 2011 ! As some people are saying, today is the last day of the second last year of this civilization! (Remember, the world is going to end in 2012 ! :D )

For me, 2011 had its own shares of ups and downs. However, if we compare it to the recent past, 2011 screwed up a bit more than others! But anyways, the story of my life still remains the same, and will be in the near future - roz sala yahi sochta hu, bas bhagwan ye wala exam/ye wala deliverable/ye wali client call paar karwade, baaki sab to life me chill hai! :D

Yesterday only I was contemplating, how the year started - with me in the Icelands of Romania - where i made a sheet of paper with couple of resolutions, and tonnes of To-Dos ! And how, the year is ending today, where forget about the resolutions, even my To-Do list feels ashamed of me! :D Anyhow, there will be no resolutions this time, no to-do list - bhaad me jaaye sab kuch - but just a tiny philosophical thought!

Life is too short to give a crap!

And trust me, this one tiny line, is the answer of life, universe and everything! :D One moment you are there, and the other you are not! So better live that moment, rather than creating flowcharts and supply chain diagrams for that! :D

Dilli Ki Sardi and Christmas !

And since Delhi and Winters are two of my most favorite things in the world, so that makes this song all the more special! :)

Anyways, I have heard that today is Christmas! Sigh, one more festival falls on weekend! Kat gaya! :( :( Oh, by the way, I was just scanning all the Christmas wishes on my Facebook wall and Twitter feed, and there has been a remarkable decline in the number of people wishing MARRY Christmas this year! :D Did government of India secretly launch "English Speakna Seekhen" institutions all over the country? :D

Or is it recession, that is forcing people to correct their bloody english atleast? :O (old post link)

Anyways, Teri vi Xmas, te, Meri vi Xmas.. Sabnu Xmas diyan lakh lakh vadhaiyan!!

Coming back to the original topic of Dilli ki Sardi, one of my friends, Srinivas, summarized recent change in Delhi's weather beautifully in one line - "And the Delhi temperature just dropped from 'Awesome! Delhi winters are here' to 'Dude, it's not funny anymore'..."

Every year, Delhi's honeymoon period with winters lasts only for a week! And then, it gets horribly, horribly cold out there! And yeah, foggy too!! Last week, I was returning from vacation, and it was so bloody foggy down in Delhi, that we barely saw the ground 2.834 seconds before the plane touched down! Wo to bhagwaan bhala kare us pilot ka, bas 2-4 foot ka estimation galat hota, and we would have landed on somebody's rooftop in Dwarka! :P

There comes a day/moment/point every winter season, when i start to believe that the super romantic winter season is over, and the horrible horrible phase of Delhi winters has started! And sadly, that moment is always in Loo ! Ewww!

Ab hum kaam kuch bhi karte ho, but dil se to engineer hi hian na bhai shab! :D Why the hell nobody thought about connecting geyser to the loo!! Warm water from the geyser is available for bathing, on the washbasin, but no sir! We don't give warm water for cleaning your backside! Damn!

60 years of freedom, 2 trillion engineers manufactured every Year, but no one, and that includes me, no one ever thought about this! Blasphemy! And we cry about India shining! Sigh.... Ab mujhe hi kuch karna padega, aur fatafat use patent karwana padega :D :D

Secondly, this thought hit me yesterday night, while sleeping! Why are quilts (blankets/razais) about 6 feet in length? People like me, who want to tuck some part of their quilts below their feet, need about 7 feet of quilt! I am really really uncomfortable, if some air seeps in near my feet! So to make perfect closure, I tuck about half feet quilt under my feet, and then I cant tuck in the blanket under my head!

I cant create a perfectly sealed cozy enclosure for my sleeping! :( :( (that is without curling up as a baby bear! :P )

I am thinking, I shouldn't be publishing all these fantabulistic ideas in the open like this! These ideas have the potential to make me the Funsukh Wangdu of the future! :D

The Indiblogger Delhi Meet

After declining a ton of invites to attend Tweetups, Wiki-meet ups, Aandolans, Hunger Strikes and what not, (you see I am so busy! Like I am the KRK of real world :D ) I finally chanced upon a Blogger Meetup page on the Indiblogger website! I have always, like ALWAYS, wanted to attend one of these blogger meets.

You know we keep on hearing stuff about these bloggers, who get a chance to publish books, who make trillions of dollars (yeah, that is like 1 followed by a loot of zeros! :D ) by just writing on their blogs, but never see such real life cases! (Or atleast I didn't come across any in my life). Finally, I can cut that one off my bucket list! :) I never thought people make so big with blogging! I have been blogging for 6 odd years but even earning pennies with my blog still remains a dream! Sigh!

Close to about 150 odd bloggers turned up at the Indiblogger HP Originals meet, and I must say there was a great mix of people from all walks of life! There were writers, poets, army men, students, software guys, air traffic controllers (!!!), entrepreneurs, full time bloggers, government guys - you name it and we had it ! I can proudly say, that I added about 20 new blogs to my google reader list today! :D

After coming back from that meet, I came to a conclusion - my blog is as haphazard as my life!! People are so focused and particular about what they write on their blogs (and what they do in life :P ) ! And similar to what constitutes my life, this blog is also full of mindless junk! :P Nothing is going nowhere! :D Whatever that means..

I even came across some very good new blog/website ideas during the meet! There was one guy who sells one liners to T Shirt companies!!! Although, most of them were typical techie bloggers, some were writing healthy recipes, one was creating a list of best dating sites :P (i guess he was joking!) , one was giving consumer rankings to different new products, and then there were a couple of girls who were into make-up/fashion blogging! Sigh!

And then there were some like me, who write about anything under the sun :D. Jo dil kare wohi likho - Ki farak painda hai yaara! :D On a serious note, we guys - the personal blogger category - rocks! Period! :D

Frankly speaking, I had a lovely afternoon, thanks to Indiblogger and HP, and would love to attend their meets whenever I get a chance!

Directed by comedy king David Dhawan's son Rohit Dhawan, Desi Boyz is another brainless comedy, with a pinch of emotion and a truckload, or rather shipload of Hot Chicks! :D Bhai Sahab, just ogling at the hot-hotter-hottest background dancers, and sidekicks will make this movie paisa vasool! Rest everything is a bonus!! :D :D

The movie ropes in recession of 2009 - unemployment, economic crisis, blah - to form the foundation of the movie! And then sadde munde - John and Akshay - decide to try the alternate profession of male strippers! Agreed that John is a horrible actor, but in front of him, Akshay was looking like - what I will look in front of Akshay! :D :D Sookhi Haddi! :D

Best surprise in the movie was Sanjay Dutt ! Although his role was very short, but bhai ne poora tashan maara hai un 10 minutes ke role me bhi! There was a nice background track with cool wordings for Sanjay Dutt, I am not able to find it on Youtube :( If anyone finds it, do give it to me!!!!

Last but not the least, super hottie Chitrangada Singh!! Who turns out to be Akshay's Ex-Classmate-But-Now-Teacher-Cum-Girlfriend !! Complicated hai na!! Just see the first 10 seconds of the video, and you will realize what I am talking about! :D

I liked the first half of the movie much more than second half! Maybe because first half is a roller coaster with movie running at a rapid pace, while the second half (as usual) has some sentiapa! Akshay again tried giving his Namaste London like short speech praising India, but it came out to be pathetic :P And before i forget, I love Deepika's dimples!! (And her smile too! :D :D) Shes too cute man!!

And with this, I leave you to hear this lovely song (and to see some firangan hotties! :D ) !

Sometimes I get so jealous of sadda Johnnie baba!! - He doesn't know how to act , I don't know how to act; His dialog delivery is pathetic , My dialog delivery is horrible! Saale ki kismat hai fir bhi - He gets to earn tonnes of money while just dancing around firangi models, whereas I get to sit 12 hours a day typing shit on a computer! :( :( :( .. wo kehte hain na, upar wala meherbaan to John bhi pehelwaan :P

Are wah, ye to post title me kavita ho gai! :D

If you are a keen follower of news on the internet, you will surely agree that this week was full of ekdum masaaledar, dhinchak, rakhi sawant type news updates from all over India! :D Saala, bade din baad akhbaar padne me maza aya! :D

Firstly a guy named Harvinder Singh slapped sadda agriculture minister Sharad Pawar! Man, I am sort of against any kind of violence, but ye dhai kilo ka jhapad dekh ke, I myself felt like going and slapping few of the ministers! Very Inspiring I must say! :D On a personal level, I nominate this guy for the next Bharat Ratan! :D

Waise looking at the haalat of this country, I guess throwing shoes (link) and slapping politicians in public is the best measure we have to wake these bloody sarkari guys from their deep slumber! Waise bhi media is now bored of Anna Hazare (link), so its high time that the mango people (link) do their bit!

Secondly, Superstar Rajni is back with his super powers! His son-in-law, sang some weird song in a mix of Tamil and horrible accented English, titled 'Why this Kolaveri Di'. And with Rajni anna's name on his back, and lazy crazy jobless tweeters all over the world, this song garnered over 3 million views in less than a week!

Totally senseless song, just aimed at teaching 8 Tamil words to the rest of the world, is being splashed all over my twitter and facebook (link) timeline! And who names their kids - Dhanush!? The day is not far when people start naming their kids - AK 47, Bullet, Talwaar.. oh wait..!

Why this Kolaveri di !

Sigh! at the power of internet, and useless people who have access to twitter and facebook in their offices!

And last but not the least! Another bloody Twilight Movie Released! On top of that, people are flocking at the screens to watch it actually!! The world is going to dogs I tell you!

How can people watch such a horrible, horrible movie, starring two emotionless zombies (both seem gay to me by the way) and one chocolate guy who turns into a big hairy dog every few days! Sigh!

Hope the world ends in 2012, before the release the next part of this horrible sequence!

Live From London by Parinda Joshi : Book Review

So, I again got an opportunity to review a book courtesy Blogadda! Although this review should have been published few weeks back, but as you know, I am the third busiest guy in the world after KRK and Rakhi Sawant, so the delay! :D

Overall, I would give this book a rating of somewhere in the range of 351 out of 700! Frankly speaking, I had high hopes from the book from its initial reviews and descriptions I read on the internet, but it didn't fully meet my expectations. The concept of the book is nice, but overall I feel the author made the book a bit predictable somehow. Somewhat like it happens in the movies, you can guess the story and ending of every chick flick, but what keeps you glued to the movie is the hotness of the chicks in the movie! :D Alas, you can not see the protagonist in books! :P

The story is about a girl, Nishi Gupta who lives in London, and has an uncanny ability to land up in screwed up situations! And somehow like it happens in all movies, she unexpectedly lands up in the Britain Got Talent! And then there is some usual stuff which you can guess - Embarrassment, sudden fame, love affair, two wriggling flowers :D, breakup!

And then common sense prevails! Like recession-time-sacked NRI employees decide to return to India, in a similar way dumped protagonist decides to come back to India. But post that the story follows the normal curve, and like it happens in the movies, its a Happy Ending ! Thank God! (Not because the ending was happy, but because the book was over!) :D

My overall thought is, if you liked Uday Chopra in Pyaar Impossible, you will surely love this book! :D OK, lets cut some slack to the author. This book is a nice Metro read, but not if you are planning to deep dive into the book and analyze each character, their behavior or are looking for some new plot!

Ra One Movie Ticket

Wo kehte hain na - Jitni Shiddat se maine tujhe paane ki koshish ki hai; ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki saajish ki hain !! :D

As soon as i got this ticket in my hand, I became a fan of this movie!! Without even watching it! :D Call me kiddish or whatever, but i love such connections! I love it when i see 1000 km, 2000km or some good number on my odometer, or when I see 10.10 , 11.11, 12.12 on my watch.. or.. you get the drift, right! :D

Anyways, coming to the real movie now, here is my verdict -- Whatever the hell people are saying all over the web, twitter or movie review websites is total farce!! I absolutely loved this movie! Come on people, you can not go to this movie keeping Robot or Mission Impossible in mind! Rather, just keep your mind in the freezer and just go there to enjoy the flick and I am sure you will surely love the innocent humor of the movie !

Talking about innocent, pliss ignore the first joke of the movie, where they show three Chinese girls, with the names - Iski Lee, Uski Lee and Sabki Lee ! :D :D

I agree there are 2000 logic flaws in this movie, which even an illeterate person like you can spot! (or if you are an engineer like me, you can probably spot 2 lakh logic and scientific flaws in this movie!) But seriously, you think SRK is an engineer? Or will 5-10 year kids will be able to spot them? Or 40 crore population of India? NO! And thats what we call brilliant marketing - Sell overhyped, easy to understand, dhinchak stuff in the market, and there are plenty of buyers out there. (Most of them illiterate though! :D ) Who needs pseudo intellectuals, jinke gharwale bhi unki baat nahi sunte! :D :D

Anyways, mostly I feel, junta has really become Phattu these days! Just because all their friends are bashing Ra.One on FB, they find it compelling to bash it! With majority of them bashing it without even watching it once! Seriously, spineless creatures! Na zindagi me khud kuch unconventional kara na, na hi kisi ko karne dena hai! As babaji says - Ye corporate culture ne phattu aur spineless bana dia hai sabko! :D :D

Chalo bhai, feels good after blogging after so long. Main to bhool hi gaya tha ki I have a blog too! Ye badhti umra.. ufff! :D

MTV Roadies 9 - The Auditions Story

So as you all know, I got a press invite for MTV Roadies 9 !! (Thank you so much Blogadda.com !!)

I mean I couldn't believe my eyes when I got an email from Blogadda to invite me for attending Roadies Delhi auditions as a press member! Then came a call from Mumbai, and then another formal email! Everything was happening so fast, that I couldn't believe if someone was making a bakra out of me or if it was for real!! :D But then I Googled, Twitter searched, and Facebook searched about it to triple confirm! Saala research industry me rehte rehte ekdum har cheez Google karne ki aadat pad gai hai! :D

Anyways, so on the morning of Auditions, I reached the venue at about 10 am, and Oh My Fucking GOD! There was a stream of people.. No no .. there was a bloody river of human beings! Frankly speaking, except for Pragati Maidaan (where whole Delhi gathers to see all hottie chicks during auto expo! :P ) I have never ever seen so many people sprawling around!

I must say, these people have truckloads of energy!! I mean after waiting for hours and hours, they still had so much energy to shout, cheer and pose for pics when they saw camera in my hand! I clicked a lot of pics, and trust me, there were enough hot chicks to click 2000 pics, and not get bored of it! :D

I even managed to attend a few group discussions of Roadies! And seriously, these guys can make all the kids in all the B Schools and engineering colleges I go for recruitment literally CRY !! By God ki kasam, have never seen such die hard spirit and burning rage to demolish any and all opponents in a GD anywhere! Awesomeness!

Seriously! I am addicted to coupons and daily deals sites!

I realized it today morning, when I was planning to have a haircut, and instead of just getting up and going to nukkad wala nai, I started looking for haircut deals! :D Yesterday only I saw a haircut, conditioning, styling, and shampoo deal for 400Rs ! :P Instead of just paying 20Rs to the nukkad wala nai.. I was thinking about spending bloody 400Rs! Just because someone was giving me 40% discount!!! sigh.. I think we all are morons! (or maybe its just me :O !!)

Last week only, my addiction to these Snapdeals, Mydalas, SoSastas, Delios of the world reached its epitome, when I was tempted to have a helicopter ride, because someone was offering 1000Rs discount on its actual price! :D :D I think I now understand, why people in US live their whole life on credit cards! (and the reason for recession too! :D )

But I still don't think we get as awesome deals as people in US get on Black Fridays or cybermonday deals or crazy Tuesdays! Majority of the deals we get in India are on services and not on products. Massage parlors, Barber Shops, Tattoo Parlors and what not; whereas in the US, the deals are on products! Even if people are burning their money out there on the deals, they are atleast building some small assets for them! I personally see a very bleak future for these daily deals sites in India in the next few years! Hopefully people will realize that they never needed these services in the first place! Phew! But well, you never know about the Indian market! Anyways, kuch zada hi analysis ho gaya yahan!

Sometimes I think I am the only guy in this world who is addicted to shopping! or maybe, others are too scared to say! Saalon, mard ke bacche ho to bahar niklo :D

All said and done, I still miss the action between Rahul Mahajan and Payal Rohatgi in Bigg Boss House! Utna maza aur kuch dekhne me nahi aaya. Also, I was expecting Siddhu Paaji to feature in the BB house! Would have been doubled the fun! Ek to Siddhu Paaji ki awesomeness, upar se related Santa Banta jokes on the twitter as a consequence of his actions on the show! :D

Leave about days, I am not even able to keep track of the weeks flowing by! The only days, when I realize--what day of the week it is--is Saturday, when i wake up in the morning, get ready for office, and then realize - saala aj to chutti hai ! :D :D (workoholic bastard!!!)

In short, life ekdum boring ho gai hai janeman! :(

By the way, *drumrolls please*, I went to temple today, that too EARLY MORNING !! OMG ! How could i do this to myself! :( .... Beta, mummy ki maar se bachne ke liye karna padta hai :D

The temple had a huge line, owing to the fact that its almost the last Navratra. I was standing at the end of the line, when I saw an auntyjee, trying to do a sprint like Kajol did to catch the train in the last scene of DDLJ! And peeche peeche her patidev was also running trying to match up with her! (buddha saala ) :P And then instead of shouting "Raaaahuuuuul" like Kajol did, auntyjee shouted "Bhayyyyyaaaa" in a specific direction! :O :O No need to make that face, even I got confused! :P

I was shocked till she completed her sentence - "Bhayya, bhagwaan ke liye mera baccha mujhe wapis de do!!!!" (Aaila, crisis me bhi over acting! :D ) I got amazed, looked at her patidev, and gave him a look saying - Dude! what the fuck is wrong with your chick? :P (Ab har kissi ko apni wali to chick hi lagti hai na bhai! :P

When I turned around saw this in the direction of the shout, ekdum se poora scene samajh aa gaya! It seems that auntyjee, engrossed in her pooja path, picked up the prasad waala nariyal, and left her 4 year old son at the nariyal wala! Bhakti ke chakkar me aunty apne chillar lena hi bhool gai! :D On top of that, from her position in the long line, I am guessing, It took her atleast 15 minutes to realize ki saaman me ek piece kam hai :D Must have been a really sweet and silent kid! :D (Apne papa pe to nahi gaya hoga. Baap to bada khadoos lag raha tha uska! :D )

And on top of that, after getting the kid back, the melodramatic auntyjee wanted to fight with the whole line to get back to the position - "where she was standing before she realized that she had two kids, and had lost one of them" :P. Seriously, aise cartoon hote hain na kuch log, ki inki life ke video seedha cartoon network pe dikhoge, to bacche haste haste pagal ho jayenge!

Are bacche chodo, bade bade log haste haste pagal ho jayenge, till they realize - O teri, ye pagal aurat to meri biwi hi hai! :D :D

Seriously, if not for these people, life would have been so boring!

So finally, my new gaddi is here!! And as per the recent fad, people are giving nick names to their cats, dogs, boyfriends, pens, shoes, tumblers and what not!!... so I also decided to give it one! :D .. If you would have known me long enough, you wouldnt be surprised to hear the name I gave it! - Chammak Challo !! :D :D

Well, the option was between Katto and Chammak Challo. Ab bhai Delhi me Katto to bahut dikh jati hian, but chammak challo... not so much! :P

I wanted to write a long detailed review of the car (like padhe likhe professional writers do!), lekin saala , didn't get enough time to spend with her to know her better. :( Jab se chammak challo ghar aai hai, either I am out of Delhi, or I am working late in office! :( Lagta hai ab iske sath 2-3 loong drive pe jaana hi padega! ;) :D Koi na, is weekend chammak challo ko Ring Road se DND tak ki sair kara ke hi laate hain! :D

Anyways, on a related note, the chammak challo song from RaOne is one of my favorite song these days! I guess I hear it almost 10 -12 times a day! Waise, sun ke zada difference pata nahi chalta ki kallu mama gaa raha hai .. ekdum punjabi munde ki aawaz lagti hai ! :D

Life is pretty interesting these days I must say!

As some of you guys already know from my Facebook Check-ins that these days I am running across several campuses across North India for placements. This is the first time I have started going to campuses, and by God ki kasam, kaafi mast kaam hai baccho ke interview lena! :D

The very same answers and reasons we used to give 5 years back, are still being used by the kids across campuses! And frankly speaking, I am now able to understand the side winks and cruel smiles which the interviewers gave me during my campus interviews! Lagta hai pichle 10 saal se sab saale same-to-same websites se answers download karke, yaad karke interviews me pahunch jaate hain! :D

And then my recent campus visit I met the following guy. Saale ka attitude dekh ke ekdum mujhe apni jawani ke din yaad aa gaye! (sniff sniff!) So the backstory is, I rejected this guy after the interview, and then he came back to me after the process was over for feedback...

Candidate: Sir, I wanted your honest feedback about me, that made you reject me? (And some more bullshit, wrapped around career, future, and preparation for the next companies to come)
Me: (All I wanted to say was - Dude You Suck! :P) but what I said was something wrapped around, business acumen, analysis of financial statements and other junk related to world economy!!

This went on between me and him for about 10 minutes. And then after a couple of minutes i stepped out of the placement cell to go towards the guest house and heard the same kid summarizing our discussion to his friends:

Candidate: Abe saala kuch bakwaas kar raha tha, mujhe laga thodi dedication aur honestly dikhaunga to shayad reconsider kar le, par sale chut*ye ne to lecture de daala!!!!

At first I thought I should confront him, but then I remembered... I spoke the exact same sentence few years back! EXACTLY the SAME!! :D

I just stood there and laughed at him, and then started walking away... seriously, when i think about it, saala aaj bhi kuch nahi badla! And by that time that kid had seen me walking! Aage ka scene to aap guess kar hi sakte hain! Rocket ki pant me aag lagi hui dekhi hai na... Furrrrrrrrrrr!!:D :D :D

Hello Bastar by Rahul Pandit : Book Review

So the other day, I was browsing through Blogadda website, and saw this book Hello, Bastar -: The Untold Story of India'S Maoist Movement up for grabs! I read the short synopsis of the book, and immediately knew that I wanted to read this one! And three days later, I got my free copy to review! Woohoo!

The author of the book, Rahul Pandit, has spent a good amount of time with Naxals, and as they say in our industry - has done extensive primary research to develop a thorough understanding of the topic! :D He has not only interviewed the Maoists, but also tried to empathize with them, and tried to bring out the other side of the stories reported in the regular news journals. Having spent about 10 years with Naxals to understand their perspective and to gain deeper understanding of their motives and demands from the government, Rahul Pandit has a uniquie opinion on this matter.

Hello Bastar

I was always curious that how did it all start? How did Maoists turn into what they are now from lungi wearing, crops growing farmers! And that is precisely the reason why I got interested in reading this book in the first place.

The book tries to present the inside story of the Naxals, from the hardships they faced in the hands of governments to their futile attempts to communicate with the government. Most of the times these guys were caputered and jailed when they came out to talk with the government. The book also highlights the government apathy towards these people, which fuelled the Naxal movement and incited more and more poor and adivasi people to join their movement.

It brings out the fact that most of the effort from the Government's side has been in supressing the movement by use of force. Not much efforts have been made in understanding the real causes of the discontent prevailing in these communities and the ways to eradicate it.

In short, the book provides you with an overview regarding the history of the Naxal movement, their present status and their future plans. In addition, it also covers the most obvious topics regarding Naxals, such as Guerrilla Warfare, their organization structures, key personnel and leaders etc. The book also details some of the smaller incidents you must have read about in the newspapers in the past, also the recent big event in which 75 army jawans were killed. Though all these incidents provide a different story, this time from the Naxal's side.

If you practically know nothing about the Naxals and the issues, you will be tricked into believing that state and national governments are to be blamed for all the unrest in the area. However, having read this book, and some other articles and magazines on the same topic, I am of the opinion that neither this book, nor the newspapers present a 100% unbiased view of the situation.

This book is a bit too much on Naxals side, and the news papers totally dismiss those guys as a threat to national security. So I guess everyone writes their own views on this topic and it is really hard to find an unbiased fact based opinion on this matter.

I would give this book a rating of 387 on a scale of 500 ! Well, as it goes with most of the stuff I write, this rating is completely meaningless! :D

Pick this book up if you really want to know the intrinsic details about the history of the movement! Or else, head over to the Twilight or chick flicks section of your library! :D

PS: I know this is the second continuous post on a serious topic on this blog, which is kind of.. err.. unexpected! But well, this is my blog so ...

I Dont Support Anna Hazare

... and I don't think whatever he is doing makes any sense...

I asked 20 morons (err... acquaintances) who are madly supporting Anna hazare and his Lokpal bill, that how will it root out corruption? No body had a clear answer! All they know is - its cool to support Anna, and those who speak against him are enemies of the nation, equivalent to Pakistanis.. and if you dont support Anna, you will go to jahannum! Your soul will be fried in burning oil...blah blah blah !! Phew !

Seriously, will they recruit people from Mars to be the members of the Lokpal team? Eventually, they will have folks from the same super-set of government employees! And if you forgot, we are talking about scams of hundreds of Crores of rupees people! Don't you think they can buy off Lokpal team members with their pocket change! Leave about petty 100-200Rs bribes, India can not function without that, but see the big picture guys! If your bill can not stop that, then its completely useless!

More so, the method which Anna has adopted is totally anarchic! Any bored jobless retired old guy will sit on a hunger strike tomorrow, asking for any mindless thing, will you give it to him? Do you think this is the right way to make government do something? If somehow I can amass 30,000 people (by any means, whatsoever) will the government pass any bill which I want them to? NO ! This is wrong!

Seriously, what hurts me more, is seeing educated people supporting Anna's anarchic ways of demanding stuff from government! You guys are just playing puppets in the hands of opposition parties! Do you seriously think BJP, RSS or any other party is corruption free? Will they WANT any such anti-corruption bill? They are just using you guys, and trying to oust Congress from the center! Personally, I don't care about any of these parties, but educated people behaving like a mob - hurts me a lot !

Anna can call himself as much Gandhian, but in my opinion, Gandhiji must be tossing and turning in his grave seeing Team Anna's tactics! Giving speeches like - If anything happens to Anna, government will be entirely responsible for it. Asking the masses for "Jail Bharo" aandolan! Sitting inside the jail as if its your sasural! Jab tak mujhe muh-maanga dahej nahi doge, ye doli nahi uthegi!! :D

Anna is just one step away from mass hysteria and riots in India. He is instigating people to go and surround homes of members of parliament, ministers, and even government offices! What if there are just 2% anti-social elements in the crowd and they incite people to do something totally uncalled for! Team Anna (which includes well educated people like Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi) either does not realize this or are too lost in their own sweet world that don't give a shit about anything else. I am like 50% sure these non-violent protests will not be the same for too long!

I am not in favor of corruption, I am just against Anna's method of creating a mob to force government to do something. If he is such a Gandhian (and visibly has such a good support across India), he should go and form his political party, participate in elections, prove his mettle, form a government and bring about the change! Just creating a bill or a law will not solve any purpose, its the right mix of people that this country needs!

Or atleast on your Facebook wall! Minimum 40-45 people have shared this ad on my FB timeline during the past 48 hours! By God, itni publicity to Anna ki bhi nahi karte mere dost! :D

Waise however good or bad Airtel's services may be, but their advertizements are good mostly!! I loved the lyrics of this advertizement more than Rehman's music. Specially the following lines...

Ek ghadi ghadi kaam aaye, kabhi kabhi call kare

Surely, I have both types of friends in my life! :D

I think this ad campaign will be a massive hit, specially among the college kids! Though I could not decipher what Airtel is trying to do with this ad except making people nostalgic about their friends! I mean it neither refer to any friends and family calling plans, nor to any special offers/vouchers! Airtel's website is also as clueless about the whole campaign! :D

Sala koi apne jaisa brand manager hoga Airtel ka. Pehle acchi ad bana lo, baad me sochenge use kiss offer ke sath chipkaana hai :D

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara..Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai...

I know, I know!!

I am one of the very few people on earth, who didn't watch Zindagi na milegi dobara in its first week! But nevertheless, if you know me (and more importantly my lazyness), you should feel just too happy, that i kicked my lazy ass outside my home during vacation time to watch a movie!!

The best thing about the movie? - Javed Akhtar !!! Man, his poems were too fucking awesome! Specially the way they have been picturized in the movie - the ever so happy-go-lucky Farhan Akhtar drifting away in his thoughts and the poems being recited in the background! Awesomeness! Here is my fav piece from the movie -

Best scene from the movie - Where all three guys are travelling in the car, and suddenly Abhay Deol says - Yaar iska fone bahar phenk do koi! And Wooops!! Farhan takes Hritik's blackberry and throws out! :D :D Pure Awesomeness!! I could so so so relate to the scene! I have done a similar thing in a spur of a moment! It wasn't someone's phone, but a bottle filled with dark brown colored liquid! :D :D

However, there were somethings terribly wrong with the movie!! Do you remember the scene where these guys are packing their clothes? Farhan was packing like guys pack! But what the hell was Hritik doing!! I can not believe that a guy, who is not gay, can pack a bag in such an organized manner! They don't make such men anymore! :P Similarly, Hritik making all the bookings and shit in advance! Come on man, its a guys party! What's the fun if everything is planned! Sigh! :D :D

Reminds me, there was this tomato festival in the movie too! About 90% of my facebook friends have gone crazy about this festival! (Well the rest 10% are chicks, who have no interests in creating such a mess :P They all must be thinking about - itni gandagi saaf karne me kitna time lagega :D ) Trust me, the festival has nothing exciting about it, per se. Its just the semi-clad hot firangan chicks (and the idea of playing holi with them) that all my friends are interested in ;)

Shoot the same song, with all fat and ugly aunteejees playing holi with tomatos in any community park near my home. Trust me, even people from Spain will stop celebrating it from the next year! :D

Caution! - Guys, who are like really close friends with the daughters of family-friends -> Please beware!! You saw na how these clever girls trap poor and innocent guys from their family-friend circles? Abhay Deol just got lucky in the movie, that he got two such good friends who saved his life from marriage! There is no guarantee that you all will get saved too! ;) Rakhee baand ke behen bana lo sabko fatafat! Kya pata kab kaun gale pad jaaye! :D :D

Anyways, a really cool movie overall. If I had a starring system like all the loser movie reviewers, I would give Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara 4 out of 5 stars!
