Tips on using the public bathroom with your kids

I am a stay-at-home mom but I like going out with my kids at least three times a week. That includes buying groceries, refilling at the gas station, going to the library, park or wherever my daughter likes, some window shopping for relaxation and just roaming around looking for clearance items. LOL.

The only thing I do not like about going out is the part when my daughter wants to go to the bathroom. Oh yes! She can be very demanding when she's in the bathroom. "Lock the door immediately", "Do not look!", "Put tissue here, here and here!", "Can you give me more wipes, please?", "Can I touch this and that?", "Make sure somebody does not come in". Oh my. I have a baby on one hand but I have to like obey my other daughter's commands in an instant. But what scares me the most is when she says, "I want to sit!".

It's even harder for me because I think I have OCD so I just don't touch anything, and I do not let her do the same! The thought of germs are killing me already. That's why I came up with some tips about using the public restrooms with your kids.

1) Before roaming around the store, be familiar with the amenities. Know where the bathroom is so you won't have to go searching when your kids demand a break.

2) Tell them that they need to say in advance if they feel the urge to go to the bathroom. This maybe hard because sometimes, they just need to go. But there's no harm trying, who knows, you can have 5 minutes to walk and not rush yourself to the bathroom.

3) Bring a lot of wipes! Not just for cleaning the you-know-what. Wipe the knob, the 'seat' and anything they might touch. Better yet, consider getting a potty cover. I got a few samples and I like how it makes me feel that my daughter can safely use the bathroom. It's available at Amazon for about a dollar each. They are individually wrapped to avoid contamination and so it'll be easier to put in a bag. I don't use it every time, just when I am in a hurry and can't really help my kid. As I said, most of the time, I have another baby to look after.

4) Wash hands before and after using the bathroom. For after it's no-brainer, but why before? Because I bet s/he already touched some other stuff (how about the door knob?) and s/he can avoid spreading it on her body by doing so.

It's not just the germs on her hands that worry me, it's the kind of illnesses like UTI perhaps (though UTI is not really an illness, but you get what I mean, right? Those tips only applies when you're out with your kids, but perhaps not at school. And also, don't worry if you're not as OC when your kids uses public restrooms, I just hope to you bathe them once you get home. :)

When to replace AC and furnace filter

If you still haven't, now is the time to replace your furnace filters. This prevents dust from building up in your old one and releasing them in your home. If you notice dust particles on top of your shelves or glass stuff really quick, ~~not that I am saying it's the only cause but~~ that could mean your filter is filthy. I experience it like almost everyday, even after vacuuming and wiping! OMG. I remember it wasn't like that before. And then my husband said it's because he hasn't replace the filters. And I was like, "Seriously?! We have a baby!".

I've read people change their filter twice a year while some change theirs every 60-90 days. When and how often you should replace your filters depend on several factors:

If you are expecting, you have a baby or kids at home.
If you have respiratory-related illnesses
If you have allergies
After a recent construction at home
Before you turn on your heater
After using your heater/Before you turn on your AC
At anytime, after checking if your filter and filthy

There's a lot more advantage to replacing your filters than not. I only know one disadvantage of replacing furnace filters, if it's expensive! Oh yes, sometimes they're just way out of your budget. But these kinds that could affect your health should not be compromised. There are a lot of different kinds available in the market especially online where you can find affordable furnace filter.

How to teach your kids about responsible money management

I am a stay-at-home mom but sometimes, I imagine myself going back to the business world. There's only one problem though, I am not certain where I should be. My friends say I should be in the marketing business because I talk a lot and I make friends easily. They also added I should be in a position where money is involved, because being good with it is one of the qualities they admire about me. Since I mentioned about it already, I wanted to share my current financial achievement.

I am debt-free!

At least for credit cards (mortgages and cars do not apply to that term 'debt'). Haha. It's a great feeling though. I've zeroed my cards three times already but something always come up. Before I paid all of them, I understand where most of our bills came from, it's because we bought a home and had several renovations amounting to more than twenty thousand dollars. Oh, yes. Just for renovations. Trigger-happy eh?

I am afraid though that this wouldn't be the case for long. The only person who's earning money in our household is my husband. And bills are increasing tremendously, especially that we had a recent addition to our family. I wanted this debt-free thing to be forever! But I am already seeing a bulk of spending ahead... Like in the next few months!!! *Sigh*

But you know what? I am trying to be positive about it and good thing I was given a chance to review the Money Savvy Pig. It made me realize a few more things about budgeting and spending at the same time. I guess it made me realize that I am not that good in handling money, because I could always do better.

And also, this is what I was talking about earlier, the big spending coming up. I asked my daughter again why she chose it and she said: "Because we don't have more money to visit my lola in the Philippines."
Spend - Food as noted by the 'burger' sticker. Okay, who doesn't love to eat!? Well, I do not save when it comes to food but I want to teach my daughter that it's important we spend it wisely on food that will nourish our body. Ironically, this slot is for her desserts and special treats. Because she doesn't always get one.
Donate - Noted by the 'giving hands' sticker. She surely know this stuff because I go with her to the nearest local community donation center every time our box is full. According to her, "If I don't use my toys anymore I'll donate it". The money here will be spent during Christmas season to get one of those "wishes" from our Church's tree.
Invest - Education as noted by the 'graduation cap' sticker. I always tell her that learning is important and I am not just pertaining to books at school. This could be for the extra-curricular activities she's interested in. Like ballet and swimming classes. The money could be spent on a new pair of ballet shoes, or a swimsuit on clearance aisle that she really likes. :P

The stroller gear I wish I had with my first child

I love walking with two of my kids, I think it's the only form of exercise I can manage to do. Especially the time when we have just one car. My husband used to come home for lunch (because his office is near) and then me and my kids go back with him. I drop him off at his office and the whole afternoon is spent at the mall! That means from 1:00 PM until 5:30 PM or so, you'll either find me at the grocery store or at a nearby mall.

When at the mall, I sometimes can't stop myself from buying stuff (which we need anyway). You know how hard it could be for a mom to push a stroller, with another kid by your side and then grocery shopping. I wish I had four hands: one to push the stroller, one to hold my other daughter's hand, one to get the things I need from the shelf and one (or two) to carry the shopping bags and my daughter's bag for when she is tired. Then, I saw another mom with these huge stroller hooks and I was like, "Awesome!!!".

I wish I had this stroller gear with my first baby. It can hold as much bags as I wanted as long as it's not heavy enough to tilt the stroller. What's even better is a pack of Toogli includes two (2) extra large hooks. I broke our old stroller because I tried putting our groceries either on top (the space between her seat and the handles), underneath the carseat (yes, there's a little space there) or in the basket (it's actually big that's the reason I put a lot in it. LOL!).

Our new stroller is bigger but has a smaller basket so I can only put one bag at a time, and that's means just the diaper bag. I don't want to try to fit everything in there because I'm afraid the same thing would happen and I wanted to 'preserve' it until at least three more years.

How do you organize your tablets?

This generation is remarkably different than the one I grew up with. When I was a kid, I loved the outdoors. I stayed under the sun until I get tired playing. You can barely see me at home! Sometimes, I even eat meals at my friends or neighbors house. LOL!

Now, all I can see are homes full of gadgets. If your family survived not having much gadgets or if you are already trying to avoid using them, then good for you. I am actually proud of myself (I do not mean bad to those who are not in the same boat as I am) because when I noticed these gadgets 'changes' frequently, I got tired of spending money on them. Unfortunately, not for my husband.

Considering there are more than two competing brands in the market with diverse features and capabilities, it could be hard to resist them especially if you are the techie type. I took a course related to computers but I am not as addicted to gadgets like some people. I, rather, my husband though have a couple of them which he's had since he was single. Some I already donated and recycled. But there are still a few remaining items like the iPod, iPad and his iPhone.

Knowing guys (sorry for stereotyping), most of them seem to not know what the word 'organize' is. I think I have OCD so cleanliness is important for me. That's the reason I always try to keep even my husband's computer table as neat as possible. One way of doing it is by organizing his gadgets. Oh my, those cables, chargers, gadgets - they're always a mess!!! I have already shared in my previous post how I keep his iPhone watch and iPhone organized. Now, it's time for those pads to have a place to sit it! Good thing I came across this Aleratec tablet charging station. It's nice because I do not have to stack my gadgets on top of each other, which could case some problems due to additional heavy weights. This rack is light because it's made from (durable) plastic. You just have to make sure to place the tablet properly, like in the middle if it's just one, to prevent it from tipping over.

I am still on the look out for ways to keep this computer table clean. By the way, don't mind the pink wall paint because my husband's office used to be my daughter's room and we do not have plans of painting it. Haha.

Does the color of your watch bother you too?

I am a stay-at-home mom and I do not care much about how I look or what other people think of me (at least physically). I am not sure if it's just me but what I care about is how my husband looks. I think it's a reflection on how well I take care of him. Or how well he can take care of himself because I take care of the rest. You get what I mean? It's not that I do everything for him, because I don't. He has his own decisions, I just comment or make inputs even in simple things, like the way he dress.

Most of the time, I tell him what to wear and what would look good with his choice of clothes. I even buy him clothes myself.

Just a few months ago, he decided to get an Apple Watch. He really likes it because of the features so he use it everyday, even at work. Well, he got the sporty kind of watch I think because it's the most affordable. And the only color available that time is black. It suits him nicely and good thing black goes well with any color. But the thing is, it looks like a watch for weekend use. He wears business casual everyday!

That's the reason I thought of getting him a leather Apple Watch band and in another color. It came with a box perfect for gifting so I decided to give it to him as a surprise. And guess what? He loved it!

As you'll notice, it's a bit shorter than the black which is the original wrist band but it fits him perfectly. It's a bit different in design, because there's like a silver ring that holds the watch and band together. I guess that's nice, at least it doesn't look boring. This brown color would sure look nice on his outfit because he has a lot of brown stuff too - pants and shoes! :P

And oh, I have to share I didn't know how easy it is to replace wrist bands, I guess it's because of the small tool that came with it. I guess this Boonix brand is very thoughtful!

How about you, does it bother you how your husband or partner dresses himself up? I hope s/he doesn't mind. :)

What To Look For When Buying Barbecue Tools

Can you feel the warm season approaching? Here in Maryland, we've had a pretty good weather around 70's. And just last week I hosted a mini barbecue party. I didn't notice my previous tools got rusty because I just left them in the griller. I was so ashamed to use them because I'm afraid they'd think I'd be serving them contaminated or dirty foods. I had to use just our regular thongs and salad forks. Haha. So, I decided to look for a new set to use for the coming weeks. Whew!

The one I got from Amazon actually looked like a set perfect for gifting. It came in a nice plastic canister and even a box for easier wrapping. I have four (4) friends who just bought a house and I think it would be a really useful and nice house warming present.

Anyway, so, what should you really look for when buying barbecue tools?
1) Make sure they are made of quality materials, like stainless steel. And not just a simple one, make sure it's durable and strong. You don't want a steel that bends over fire. I prefer stainless steel because it resists stain and corrosion.

2) Long handles are a must. Just make sure they're not too long because that can hurt you too. I say long handles because you don't want to get those hands too close to the griller. You could either get your hands (or arms) dry or at worst scalded or burned. I know sometimes you'd like to use your bare hands trying to put and flip those meat around, but trust me, that can be scary. You know how combustion works, right? What if there's a sudden fire and it catches your hands? O-oh!
3) Hooks and locks. Most grillers do not have a lot of extra space where you can put your cooked foods and tools. And you sure don't want to 'accidentally' place them on top of a hot rack. Those rings help not just during grilling but also for storage purposes. As for locks, I mean a ring that can hold those thongs together. Some thongs open so wide it's hard to press and use them. So far, the thong lock is the only feature lacking in my barbecue tool set. But hey, you can't have everything all in one. This is still the closest that meet my qualifications.

4) Look for added features. Like for example, this spatula has serrated edges which can be used for cutting or tenderizing meat. That would be very useful when you're already out in your yard doing your thing. You don't have to rush back to your kitchen to get a knife, this is like a built-in thing.

5) Look for something that can make your life a little bit easier. If you can find a dishwasher safe set, then go for it. You know how hard it is sometimes to clean tools that are oily have and have dried whatever meat sticking on them. LOL. If you can slip it in the washer, it can make your cleanup a little lighter!

6) And last but not the least, safety first. If you're getting a new tool, whether a set or a piece, spend a few minutes making sure they have some sort of protection. Some tools can be really sharp especially the fork. You don't want to hurt yourself upon opening the package. Other tools can be bubble-wrapped but the pointed part is not covered.

A Way To Organize Your Apple Gadgets

I know the Apple Watch craze has passed but it doesn't mean that the complementary accessories concerning it did. I bet companies has just began envisioning more product designs that can be used with not just the smart watch but for other gadgets too. Like for example, there's a company called 1byone who offers USB chargers, car chargers made with different kinds of materials, etcetera. I have tried a couple of their products and so far, this charging dock station is my favorite!

First of all, I have to share that I (and most of my friends) think I have OCD. It's important for me to be organized because I don't work well with mess. The more my stuff are in disarray, the more my brain is not able to function well. So my favorite feature is that this dock can actually hide the cable, at least for the Apple watch charger and it eliminates the need for my iPhone6+ charger because it has a built-in charger of its own! I was so delighted not to see more cables on our computer desk!

Besides the main purpose of organizing your gadgets, it has more useful features:

1) It has 2 USB slots on the back of the dock, that means you can charge up to four (4) devices at a time.

2) It has a non-slip rubber buttons on the bottom so it won't wobble or slide on your desk. Trust me, you'd want a dock that will keep itself steady because it's holding some expensive stuff.

3) It's constructed with quality aluminum alloy that makes the design more elegant and as close to the "Apple feel" as possible. I think that also makes it durable.

4) It comes in two colors: Gray and Silver. The one I'm sharing is silver.

5) It was designed so that you can have quick access to use your phone and/or watch.

6) It saves space and it helps prevent your gadgets from falling (when you try to pull them out from charging).

7) The built-in charger on the left side is also suitable for iPhone6/6s, iPhone 5/5c/5s, iPad Air/Air2, iPad mini 1/2/3, iPad Pro and iPod Nano

Though I own mostly Apply products, I wish they have a dock like this too for other brands to accommodate non-Apple users who loves to organize their gadgets. What do you think?

How Do You Keep Yourself Warm?

I am the warm kind of person, and I am not just talking about my personality. What I meant to say was, I prefer hot weather rather than cold. LOL. Unfortunately for me though, I do not have a choice (yet). We live in Maryland and as most, if not all, of you know, we have four (4) seasons here and at the moment, it's still winter.

It's a good thing spring is almost here, but the temperature is still not as warm as I want it to be. I checked Weather.com and I am still seeing low 30F's. That's the reason most of the time, I prefer to stay at home because I don't like the cold brrrrr-eeze! But we all know that's impossible. I am not a bear that hibernates. Haha. And since I have and need to get out at least twice a week even on a below zero temperature, I invest on good quality winter stuff - from top to bottom outfits, from boots to hat!
How about you, what do you do to keep yourself warm on cold days? Do you have any favorite brand?

With boots, there are several choices. I guess you know one of the most comfortable and warmest can be made by an Australian company. Buying it once a year will soon become a tradition for me.

And about the hat, I used to don't care whatever it is, but I now have a favorite - CacheAlaska. I got one as a sample and oh my! It feels so warm and it's size is generous enough that it can cover my ears too and still with the perfect fit. Actually weird because my husband tried it and it fits perfectly on him too, so I think this is a one-size-fits-most-hat. My husband also said he will "borrow" it from me. Borrow. Maybe I should just get him his own! What about that? Oh well, this is a unisex kind of beanie anyway so I might just let him do so. Then I'll get one for him as a present. LOL!

I wondered how this came at par with the other beanie knit cap and I wondered, well, this was designed in Alaska. Alaska, hello?! All I can think of is ice whenever that name is mentioned! Well, now maybe I'll think of Frozen, or Anna and Elsa. Haha. This should be great if that's the case. Anyway, I checked the material and found out it's made of a premium fiber blend 50% Wool and 50% Acrylic. I bet those two are a perfect blend because it provides great warmth, comfort and breathability. That also makes it machine-washable but only with cold water. Though most of the time with wool, I handwash them, better be safe than sorry. And by the way, they come in other nice colors too like pink, blue and purple! :)

If you work for hours at the office, in front of the computer, then at some point you probably felt that you needed to stop for awhile because your muscles are starting to sore. Make Fried Foods Look More Sophisticated

Since I got a new cookware set, it makes me want to cook more! My husband was surprised and said I should have gotten one a long time ago. LOL. Still, I prefer cooking in minutes so those quick easy meals are what I prepare most of the time.

I always trust on breadings to help me realize that and I always got a stock of it in my pantry. Luckily for the first time, I was able to get a sample of House Autry Hushpuppy Mix with Onion. It has a different kick to it because of the onion but it turned out tasty! Even more, it really made it crunchier! This breading is not like the powdery type, not like flour. It is grainier in texture

For me, breading makes every fried food look a little bit sophisticated, just look at the shrimp tempura me and my daughter prepared! Who'd think it could be done in less than 30 minutes!?

With this recipe, I just added a cup of flour. I cleaned and deboned each shrimp leaving only the "tail". Dipped it in scrambled egg, then in the breading mix, dipped it again in egg and dipped it again in the breading mix. Lastly, I deep fried each quickly in hot oil.

I like entertaining guests and most of the time, the easiest way for me to amuse them is by serving food. And because it takes me at least an hour to cook (and it can go up to two hours depending on the dish), one thing that comes to mind is appetizer! Yes, I know you're probably doing it too! Ha!

It's a good thing I came across the newest Aussie sauce craze - Top Mates! Not only they provide quick access in preparation, it instantly became a conversation 'topic'. What a unique way to start our chit-chat talking about food!

One thing I like about Top Mates is they offer a variety, there are seven exciting flavors to choose from (details below). These tastes are new to at least to my whole family's palate. Some of the flavors still surprise me! Here are some ways I've managed to use the finishing sauces.

1) Caramelized Garlic [Meat, Seafood and Veggies] - One of my favorite spices! I use garlic in most of the foods I cook and I love the aroma it creates. And to have this in a form of sauce is even better! It just makes it easier for me with meal preparation. Grab, spread and eat! Just like what I did with this fried chicken! Mmm... Soooo good!

2) Smoked Tomato - Tried it with crackers and chips and it tasted great! This is my husband and cousins' favorite sauce among the four (4) we've tried. I believe sauce can be applied to just about anything! I am going to use this as spaghetti sauce next weekend! Haven't tried a smoked tomato version so hopefully, it will be the first time. :) I am so thrilled you have to check my Instagram account because I am definitely going to post it there.
3) Chipotle and Onion
4) Savory Pineapple - This one is my favorites. I am not sure if it's because I'm Asian but my Hispanic friend liked it just the same. This sauce definitely has that sweet tangy taste. I use it as a spread on my toast too, but just a thin spread of it since it is really flavorful.
5) Savory Cherry - If you want an exotic taste, you got to try this. Cherry is seldom found as a sauce and it's robust taste might be just that thing you're looking for!
6) Onion and Shiraz - I don't know what a shiraz is but based on what I read, this sauce is a combination of onion (of course), red wine and port and is great with steak. Worthy to mention that it's an award winner in the recent Royal Sydney Fine Foods Show. How awesome is that?
7) Apple and Mint - With the combination of these two ingredients, I guess you can already guess the flavor. I heard it's good with lamb.

Why You Should Always Keep Your Griller Clean

I love inviting close friends at home be it during holidays, birthdays or for no reason at all. I am not sure why but I love entertaining and chit-chatting with them. And if you know me you'll know what food I am going to serve. I love baking, but other than that I love grilling too! Grilling for me means having good time with friends, outside the house, enjoying good food and more! That's one reason I bought a new a week after buying our house. I always thought that grillers, especially the outdoor ones are only for summer. I guess not.

As of the moment, Winter Storm Jonas is burying East Coast on 20+ inches of snow. I heard no reported casualties but I know there's a possibility of power outage. Yes, power outage! I guess anyone would be afraid of it! First, you don't want to freeze inside your home, and next you definitely don't want to starve!

That's why for those of you, who ~~unfortunately~~ have electric stoves, it can be very frustrating. And this is where I found our griller useful! So, before the storm came, my husband bought a bag of charcoal and started cleaning the grill! I swear he didn't clean it since summer and it really looks terrible, just look at the photo below.

I am just thankful we have a new grill brush that really does it's job. It's made of stainless steel bristles and even came with a basting brush. Isn't it awesome? I actually got the X-Chef barbecue grill cleaner at Amazon.com for free to review.

Now, I am ready in case we need to cook outside! Even the food we needed to grill are ready. Ha! My cousin and her husband's stuck at home too by the way, so we're all set!

How to use a phone armband efficiently

I just thought about ways on how a phone armband can be of great use. Anybody can literally use this, but most especially the following people:
1) Runner - Hey, who wants to run alone on boring roads or places you know nothing about? This has a slot for your earphone cable so you can listen to your favorite songs while jogging. Just make sure not to put in on too loud so you'll be able to here the sounds of beeping cars. You don't want to run into accidents.
2) Gym rats - Like with the runners purpose, you can use this to listen to music to keep you upbeat, or probably talk to your pals while your busy burning fats. Just make sure you focus on your gym equipments first before using your touchscreen because you don't want to fall on your treadmill!
3) Homemakers - Yes. This could be useful especially when your hands are full and/but you need your phone near you, always. You don't want to miss important calls. And you don't want to misplace your phone after doing a lot of household chores. With this, you can get hold of your phone in an instant. This is also great because I use this while carrying my little one, wiping the table, while talking to my husband over the phone. You can do a lot with your phone within your reach.

I Used This Shower Curtain Liner For A Year

I'd be honest to say that I am posting this review a year late. Imagine how long is that? As a blogger, I feel that I cheated on the company from not delivering what should have been expected of me. I got personal health reasons that stopped me from finishing this review. Anyway, I don't want this issue to forever be in my conscience. LOL! So, I am doing it right now. This is the perfect epitome of 'better late than never'.

You know, I think it's actually a blessing in disguise for me to review it this late. Because that means I have really tested the product, quite too long I suppose. The second thing that pushed me from pursuing this review too is that the brand really deserves to be known.

As I said, it's been a year and this has been the longest shower liner I've used since forever! I guess nothing's going to beat that time frame. I have used the cheapest from Target and they smell, I've tried another eco-friendly brand from Marshalls and it didn't live up to its promises. This shower curtain liner from Amazon have proven its claims:

Resits Mold
Resists Mildew
No Odor
No Chlorine
No PVC
Resists Bacteria

The first (3) items were the only things I can know for sure that's true. I remember when I opened the package and placed it in the bathroom, it's unlike the rest that always have that funky smell. This one has a subtle smell for a few days then it was totally gone!

The first two (2) items are similar. I've never seen a black spot on our liner for a year! I am careful too though with humidity and I always turn on the exhaust in our bathroom so maybe that helped too. I am glad I need not clean it every now and then (Wait, I don't clean liners! I replace them when they're dirty.) And yes, it took a year for the soap suds to accumulate on this one. Imagine how long that is? Even I, myself, can't believe it! LOL! But that's what really happened. Oh well, I think there are really companies who can be that blatantly honest to you.

A Perfect Present for Kids This Holiday Season

My daughter has been asking me to buy her more toys for her pretend kitchen. She has almost everything but is missing a lot of ingredients. So, when I got the opportunity to review this vegetable playset, I got so excited!

When I got this product, I thought I'd be able to wait until the first day of Christmas ~~for Santa~~ to give this to my daughter. I guess the kid in me got excited in opening the package too. I never had this as a kid, for your info. Well, I guess we didn't have this at that time anyway.

This Click N' Play cutting vegetable toy playset includes ten (10) fruits and vegetables combined. There's even a bonus knife and cutting board which makes it more attractive to play. My daughter has been playing it for three (3) days straight and she's not tired of playing with it yet. She already made a lot of meals including smoothies with them. She enjoys cutting and putting them back over and over again! You got to love the velcro!

It's also nice that she's getting more familiar with the things she do not eat. She now knows what an eggplant looks like and she knows that bell peppers come in different colors too. Just awhile ago, we were able to ~~force~~ lure her to try broccoli and carrots again. Those were the vegetables she used to eat when she was three (3) but suddenly stopped for reasons we do not know. Okay, it's definitely the taste she doesn't like. I guess she got it from me, I do not like vegetables as a kid. I think if I had the same toy, I would have tried eating some at least.

The playset comes with a reusable bag as shown above. It's nice because it's easier to tell her to clean them up and she can bring it with her easily in any part of the house. Sometimes, she brings it to her room, our room, in the living room, her play area... Ha! Just about anywhere! Even in the car!

I'd say I'd like this toy because the quality meets my expectations. It's not made from a cheap material though it's not made from an expensive one either. The quality is just right, the plastic is not to soft (or squishy) and not to hard (which I actually like in case she throws them).

I think this product will be a nice present for any kid this holiday season. If you want to check it out, it's available at Amazon and I think it's currently on sale. I found a similar toy like this at the store but I think this is the more affordable one wherein the quality is not compromised.

A Simple and Easy To Use Kitchen Tool

If you are a stay-at-home parent like me who ~~loves~~ needs to cook everyday at least twice a day, then you probably have a lot of knick knacks in your kitchen cabinet.

I do not have a passion for cooking, but I try my best. I guess it just doesn't love me. LOL. My husband is a guru though. I think I am more of a baker and he's the cook. Anyway, this doesn't stop us from accumulating kitchen utensils that makes our day-to-day easier.

One thing I am thankful for is the knife sharpener. This I think is one of the most important thing any household should have. As I have said, we cook at least twice a day so there's a need to sharpen our knives every now and then. My husband use knives to cut all sorts of meat, even those that include bones. So just imagine the "damage" it does to our knives.

The Priority Knife sharpener is a simple and easy to use tool. I have tried another sharpener which has a knob that you need to set for each kind of knife. Though it is more accurate, it's hard to remember everything so you always need to have the cheat sheet with you.

The "We Love Disney" Music Album

One of the dates marked on my calendar is October 30th. Why? Because it's the release date of the We Love Disney album!!! I have been a Disney fan since I was a kid (and who's not anyway?) and I am really thrilled about this one. It is time to reminisce my childhood memories. I think this is also the perfect timing to re-introduce them to my kids. Especially the other princesses she's not familiar with yet, like Jasmine. Which is, by the way, her costume this Halloween.

We Started Seed-Snacking

Since I started on a milk-free diet, I noticed I have been eating a lot more healthy foods. I used to eat a lot of sweets, desserts and pastries but not anymore! Okay maybe less and those that do not contain dairy. LOL. But I tell you, I have never been this open in trying new foods and I think it's a blessing in disguise.

From time to time, I crave for sweet treats though and I guess it's just normal. I don't grab ice creams and cakes anymore, I am leaned towards eating fruits, nuts and seeds! Yes, seeds! Besides the pumpkin, squash and watermelon seeds, I've added something into my diet ~ chia seeds! I've heard a about how good it is for the body and you too can read about the chia magic. That's one reason I was curious in trying it out. Also, I never realized there's a lot of things that can be done with it. It even comes in a pouch now which is perfect for snacking.

Don't let the packaging fool you, I believe it's not just for kids. Those Chia Squeeze are also great for adults! Me and my husband tried them as well. And good thing they left me with a pouch. My 4-year old liked it so much that she ate three (3) pouches in one day! I hope it's not too much for her body to take. Oh well, it's done and nothing happened so I guess we're good.

I thought about the trick or treat approaching and we haven't been to the store to buy candies yet. Just the other day, I saw some oranges turned into pumpkin faces and I really loved the idea. I just don't love the fact that it looks cute but the the thing is, you are serving fruits which are a lot better than candies! So I thought, maybe it's better to give out snack pouches like the Mamma Chia Chia Squeeze! They come in six (6) different flavors [Cherry Beet, Blackberry Bliss, Green Magic, Mango Coconut, Strawberry Banana and Wild Raspberry] so the kids can choose their favorite! My daughter's favorite is the Strawberry Banana, I guess it's already a given.

Why I Love Convertible Beds

You know how happy it feels when you feel like you saved a couple of bucks from using something old? I just got that feeling and I am really glad.

We have a convertible crib and my daughter has had it for years but never really used it as a baby. Now, we thought of setting it up again and tried using it as a toddler bed. This is a crib that has been recalled because of a drop-side issue. That's why I don't use it with my new baby. Anyway, it's fine with my toddler because she can already handle herself. We just had to put down the drop-side and use cable ties so she can hop in the bed. I like it because the sides work as a 'bed rail' so she won't fall, and again, we don't have to buy some railings which costs a minimum of $25.

We used the same mattress, some pillows and the only new ones where the pillowcases. We have old queen or regular sized pillows which are by the way, not fluffy anymore. LOL. She chose the princess pillowcase for it of course.

As for the smaller one, I never knew there's a toddler pillowcase! I was so eager to see one and good thing I got one as a sample for review. Thanks to Angel Direct Products! Since we don't have a toddler pillow, I just fold the other old regular pillow and it worked fine. It's actually better because it looked fluffy! What I like about this pillowcase is the thread count, it's 400 sateen weave! I always look for the number because there was a time I bought a 200 thread count sheet set on clearance and I tell you, it's not the best to sleep on. Since then, I always look at the numbers, the higher the better! It also machine-washable, it comes in different colors and the best thing is that it's Made in the USA.

Sweet and Hot Italian Sausage for Dinner! #PremioPlease

Last night we were in a rush to go home after attending mass. Why? Because it was almost 7 in the evening and we don't have food yet. I don't want to eat in a restaurant because I am almost out of my budget for this month. I don't want to go to a fastfood where they offer cheaper foods because most of them are deep-fried and I've had too much fried stuff in the past few weeks.

I guess it's a good thing we went to the grocery store just before going to Church and we bought chicken thighs and got some sausages too. My husband is a very good cook and he immediately thought of making something out of the sausage.

This Premio Sweet and Hot Italian Sausage was on sale at Safeway at 2 for $7. I was provided a coupon for one and I just decided to buy another pack. Anyway, as I said, we were in a rush to cook but my husband managed to do it in less than an hour. First, since the sausages were already thawed, he just broiled it in the oven for 20 minutes. He couldn't wait longer so he decided to fry it quickly in olive oil. And then, he started mixing in the other ingredients. Around 10 minutes before taking it off the pan, he semi-sliced the sausages just to make sure the meat is cooked. I don't know how to call this dish but it's really easy!

Ingredients:

Premio Sweet and Hot Italian Sausage - If you have kids, use just the sweet ones.
Olive Oil - Just a little but enough to saute the rest of the ingredients.
Garlic
Onions
Tomatoes
Bellpepper
Salt and Pepper to taste

Most are kitchen staples so you'll only need the meat.

By 7:30PM, we were ready to eat! I love having a husband who's good in the kitchen. I'd say he's way better than me. LOL. Also if you'll notice, we only used four sausages because my husband decided to fry the hot sausages separately since we have a kid.
