Today I am happy to announce my shop Simply Entwined. I have been working on crocheted earrings & necklaces, which will be great gifts for friends, and family.

~Why I'm opening a shop~

I was on Pinterest one day, when I came upon this pic. I became so inspired that I decided to make my own version. The ones in the photo are lace cut outs, but I didn't have any lace and I really love to crochet, so my earrings didn't turn out quite like these, instead they turned out a little more simple (I think this is why I chose the name Simply Entwined).

For Christmas last year I gave some to my older sister, Grace, and she loves them! Family & friends were all jealous of her uniquely designed earrings and asked her where she bought them, and of course, she told them I made them for her. And this is one of many things that helped to encourage me, to open my shop.

Short and Sweet

Sometimes I'll get hankering for a verity of tastes in decor, or for lavish clothing and start feeling miserable because I know I wont get what I want. I'll try to remedy my selfish desires by dressing my hair a certain way or putting on more makeup, but if that doesn't work I'll portray as Audrey Hepburn in front of the mirror. If I can't feel good about my figure I'll run to my sister and ask her if I'm pretty, which usually ends up with me sobbing and her leaving me in my self-pity. The conclusion: with wanting more comes more heart brake.

I have come to the understanding that if I look away from my vain desires face reality, with the contentment of being happy with what I have and not what I want, I end up feeling content and satisfied. Now if there's something tantalizing my flesh I'll revert to something I'm thankful for, like fresh air or shoes that I've worn for three years, the ones with the tattered soles and faded color, and thank God for blessing me with durable foot ware.

If you can't think of something to be thankful for make a list throughout the day and when the "ache" begins read that list and thank God for each good thing he provided for you.

Our niece loves to play the defenseless maiden, just a growl will get her excited and ready to put on helpless airs.

She's such a dainty little person, yet spunky and quick to the surroundings about her. Our older sister, her mother, tells her never to take things that aren't hers, so she'll grab the desired object and say "hab?" to the possessor of the fond item.

Eating is her second most favorite thing to do, if there's a cracker on the floor it wont be there long.

When she's sad just a pout of the lashes will send gentlemen flying to mind her discomfort.

Short and Sweet

My sis and I asked each other what we like in style, and we came up with these two answers: practicality and modesty. If you really want to look good( in a godly way) you should always put on these two adjectives.

Growing up we found that most young ladies feel insecure about how they dress; if what they wear will reveal too much, or what they don't wear will make them odd to society. The fault is not in the individual but in the the every day propaganda of what we watch and hear. If you are looking for style in popular magazines and the media, you'll probably feel insecure and lost like the world, but if your search leads you to the Word you'll most likely become secure in yourself.

And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. -1 Corinthians 12:23 KJV

Now feeling pretty is wonderful, but it has a down side too. If you're bicycling down a muddy trail and you don't want your best blouse to get soiled you'll most likely wish you hadn't worn that blouse. Wearing things we love should be worn at special occasions and not everyday. My sister and I share our clothes and, believe me, its hard to keep tops, skirts ect, from becoming wash rags. It's also smart to keep an apron handy at all times so that when life's affairs make a " splash" at your outfits you wont end up feeling sorry for wearing cute clothing.

I listened to Anna Sophia & Elizabeth Botkin's first session of Reclaiming beauty. It was really interesting. They talked about how they used to wear frumpy, baggy clothes because they didn't want to be fixed up like "worldly women." The time when they were in this stage was the same time they were writing So much more.
Listening to Reclaiming Beauty made me think of the way I thought of modesty. God made beauty, and he created us in his image. So why can't we be modest in the way we dress? We are God's daughters; we are supposed to be modestly adorned with His glory. We are supposed to be beautiful by God's standards, not by the world's.

People don't think being modest is very beautiful. They think you're being self- righteous, snobbish, or else you're a part of some kind of a cult!

What is modesty/femininity?

I have read enough blogs to know what people think about modesty. There are those who think it doesn't matter what you wear, but what's in the heart, and that you shouldn't judge them because they wear skin-tight pants, and that they aren't bothering, or hurting anybody. And then there are those who believe that it isn't just what's in the inside, but what is on the outside appearance also, because they know that there are those who want to be modest but just don't know where to begin, or who are just to lazy to start!

I personally am not one to be negligent about dressing modestly. I love anything modest! I love skirts, especially skirts that are pretty and feminine. But sometimes I get pretty discouraged, because I live in a place where there aren't many large families like mine. I don't often see a young lady wearing skirts or being modest even in the way they act. Once-in-a-while I will see some nicely dressed ladies walking into Wal-mart or at the Goodwill; but it's rare.

What do our brothers in Christ think?

1Timothy 2:9-10 says:

9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

Some people take these verses the wrong way. But what do our brothers in Christ think? There is a difference when a young man sees a lady in a skirt rather than pants. Don't you think it's stumbling? Here is a video on modesty:

It does matter what you wear! Because even if you are modest on the inside, a young man who sees you for a minute won't know what you really are! And that is why I think it is so important to be conscious of the way we dress. Because you may not know how much you are helping them by doing this. Hello friends! Sorry for the lack of posts, but I've been kinda busy of late. I just wanted to post about three modest fashion blogs I love
I love modest fashion, its one of my favorite hobbies! Some of my fashion mentors are:

Always time for tea by Esther Leclerc. She's has always encouraged me. The way she puts clothes together really makes me feel refreshed, and inspired! She hasn't posted for a long time, but I still go to her blog if I feel really bored with my clothes! :)

Another blog that I love is Fresh modesty by Olivia Howard. She's sooo sweet! Most of you probably know about her but I've been going to her blog for years... even before she became popular!
