Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon pattern

As you all know, October is breast cancer awareness month. I came up with a super easy pink ribbon so you can show your support of this very important month. I chose to attach my ribbons to hooks so they can be worn as earrings. You can use yours however you'd like!

hook used: 5.5mm

The ribbons are approx 2 inches tall

1: ch 20

2: hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook and continue to the end of the ch and fo

3: cross 1 side of the ribbon over the other end to get your desired shape

4: use a piece of yarn and pull through the thickness the ribbon and tie a knot in the back to secure it

Here's a list of awareness ribbon colors and the meaning of each. You can customize your ribbons so they mean something special to you!

Bows! Pattern

Any long time followers of my blog know that I absolutely LOVE bows! They go with and can be put on everything (well, at least I think they can!). I put them on bags, clips for my hair, bow ties, headbands...just about anything that you can come up with.
Here's my newest bow creation, some of the can be seen in my previous post.

This pattern is going to be for the large grey bow...

I/9 5.5 hook (smaller hook can be used for a smaller bow)

ch 23

hdc in 3rd ch from hook

at the end of the row, ch 3 and turn

hdc for 10 rows

You will be left with a piece that looks like this:

center of bow:

ch 8

hdc in 3rd ch from hook

The center of the bow should look like this:

Pinch the center of the bow and tie the center piece around it

Use the 2 loose pieces of yarn to secure the center of the bow. Use your hook to pull the 2 loose pieces through

Tie in a knot and weave in all the extra pieces and you're done!

This particular bow I'd attach to a head band, but be creative and use it however you'd like! Decrease the amount of chains in the beginning to make the smaller if you'd like. Here are some ways that I've used my bows in the past...

You can use bobby pins to attach them to your hair

Glue clips and barrettes to the backs of the bows

I felt so special when I received the sunshine award from Michelle! Her blog, "Da Perfect Mix", is a crochet blog that I love to follow! To follow the rules of the award, I have to tell you something about myself and pass the award on to 10 fellow bloggers...so lets get started!!!

I really hate talking on the phone! I'm pretty shy (which is why you don't see me talking on camera on my youtube channel... just pics!) But I love to text :-)
Whenever my boys learn a new skill...I cry lol (I'm a big baby when it comes to them!) My oldest is going to kindergarten this year so I know I will have to have a box of tissues on the first day!
I've played clarinet since 6th grade and still love it
I was a hurdler and long jumper on my state ranked high school track team (go Pioneers!)
My sweet tooth is going to have me toothless at age 50
Call me weird, but I hate chocolate!!!

OK I'm done lol... Now I have to pass on the award to 10 fellow bloggers (in no particular order)...hmmmmmm.....

I haven't done a bow pattern in awhile and these are super easy. I think this will be my next post. They're so easy, I haven't written the pattern down yet!

Crossbody bags pattern

I've noticed that these crossbody bags are really in style for the summer. I've created a few different versions...

The pattern that I'll be sharing is for these bags...

I've tested the pattern, but f you find any problems or have any problems, feel free to let me know!

ch 45
row 1: hdc in 3rd ch from hook across
row 2-30: ch 2, turn, hdc crochet across. at the end of row 30, tie off

You should be left with 1 big piece like this...

Join yarn on one of the shorter sides, and continue below

1: sc approx 30 across the short side
2: ch 1, turn and sc decrease across
3: ch 1, turn, 2 sc in each sc decrease across
*repeat for short side on opposite side*

fold bag in half, make sure the short sides are lined up evenly
sl st through both pieces to close up sides

after joining yarn, continue with a series of slip stitches to close up sides. When done, repeat on opposite side as well

flip bag inside out so that the sl sts are inside of the bag. You should be left with this...

straps
ch 100 (more or less for a shorter or taller person)
row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook
row 2: chain 3, triple crochet across
row 3: ch 1, sc across and tie off

attach straps to inside of the bag
From this point on you can add fabric, a zipper, a snap...anything you'd like.

Simple Handbag pattern

This is a very simple design I came up with. The entire pattern is done with 2 strands of yarn held throughout. I've tested this pattern twice, but if u find any mistakes, feel free to let me know! Also, I'd love to see your finished projects. I'd like to start a section on my blog with other people's interpretations of my patterns! Email me any picture of your final projects!

2 strands held together throughout pattern

ch 35
row 1: sc in 3rd ch from hook
row 2: ch 2, dc scross bottom side of chain (at the end of this row, you should be back where you started in row 1)
row 3: ch 2, dc around
row 4-10: dc around
row 11: dc 10, ch 15, count 10 spaces from opposite side and join with dc. This creates the opening for the
handle
row 12: 1 dc around and fo

Rose
I got a pretty, simple rose pattern from here. I just didnt use the leaves that are also stated in the pattern. After I was done, I just sewed the rose onto the bag and that was it!

You can also make variations of this bag using this same pattern. Just add more rows (in the pattern its row 4-10) to create a taller bag. And in the pattern where you're creating the handles, just make more chains to get a longer handle. This is a different bag I came up with...

The possibilities are endless with this pattern! You can use a bow, a rose or just leave it plain. I like the rose better personally, but its totally up to you! Feel free to email me pictures of your finished projects! I'd love to start a section on my blog showcasing other's interpretation of my patterns!!

I've started selling these in sets... it allows you mix and match the bows and headbands to your liking...or you can wear the headband without the bow, its completely up to you!

Work In Progress Wednesdays!

I've decided to join the (W)ork (I)n (P)rogress Wednesday club! So for this week I have a bag that's almost done. Its a tote bag that I've been working on, the only thing I need to finish it is to find the perfect fabric to line it with, and it will be complete!

Black and pink are one of my favorite color combinations

I'm trying something new this time with my bag. I put a piece of cardboard in the bottom of the bag... I hate when I make a bag and I have a lot of stuff or just something heavy in the bag and it causes it to droop down. So hopefully if comes out the way I'm picturing in my head and will prevent the bag from sagging at the bottom when something heavy is put into the bag

I'm going to just sew the fabric in the bag as I normally do, so the cardboard won't show. Hopefully it all works out!

Baby Shower Gifts

My friend is going to be having a C-Section in a few days, so I decided to crochet her a few things and give them to her as baby shower gifts! I didn't give myself enough time to crochet a baby blanket like I wanted to, but I did get some good things done. She's having a little girl, so since I doubt I'll be having anymore kids in the future (my 2 boys are more than enough!)... I'll just live out my dreams of having a daughter through her lol.

A variety of headbands. I added an elastic band for stretch

I came up with this pattern for the headbands myself, I will be posting later!

I also came up with these baby beanie w/ bows pattern myself. I just used 2 different hooks to make a smaller hat for when she's a newborn.

Lastly is a diaper bag that I came up with. My friend chose the colors, and I just added the bow for extra cute-ness!! I'm pretty pleased with the way it came out, she'll receive them later on today, I hope she likes them!

She loved it!

So my mom gave her friend Angie, the hat and skinny cowl that I showed off in my last post (Click here to revisit) From the looks of the picture my mom sent me... I think she was pretty satisfied!

The newsboy cap, I used a pattern I got from a woman's etsy shop. The skinny cowl is a design I came up with on my own. I hope to have many more happy customers in the near future!

New Projects!

First of all, let me start out by saying Happy New Year to everyone. I hope everyone had a blessed, safe and fun holiday season! I know me and my boys sure did, and the new year is starting out wonderfully. Hopefully the next 358 days will be just as wonderful...OK... here are some of my latest creations. As always... enjoy!

This is another mesh scarf just like the one from my last post about new projects. This one I made as a birthday gift for a friend of my mother's.
