Fire Prevention

Summer is approaching we feel the hot temperature and the dry surroundings and we all aware that the month of March is the fire prevention month.
Well let me discuss you a little tidbits tip about Fire Prevention, first we should know the composition of a fire.

Composition of Fire: Its a Chemical reaction of the combination of the three substances that we called

TRIANGLE OF FIRE .

What is triangle of fire? Triangle of is the substances that can create fire

The Triangle of are

Heat, Oxygen and Fuel

lets make it simple imagine if you have three of these ( paper, lighter and air ) ignite the paper using the lighter, blow some air to the paper and BoOm you have a fire in your house ^^,
but don't worry If one of them is missing there will be no fire created.

I'd Like to share some tips on how to put fire at ease, when you see a fire burning your house please don't panic just calm down and think.

First: Call to your nearest Fire Station for help. While waiting see if the fire can be controlled by you and your neighbor if the fire is bigger keep away from it, as soon as possible leave the area.

Other case if you see fire coming from your stove please don't put water on it you just making it big.

Things to do

Don't panic just calm down and think straight
Call to your nearest Fire Station
If you think its not to big and you can handle it just turn off all your device, cover the stove with wet cloths so that the oxygen will be remove i think? LOL.

How to cover the stove:
Put the wet cloths over the stove and that's it.

Well that is just a TidBitz tip, but still if you see a fire burning your house please don't forget to call to the Fire Station for help.

And the most and effective way how to get rid of Fire is to prevent it, check your kitchen if there is an open tank and close it, turn of all the light and be sure there no plugins left when you leave the house and keep your children away from ignition materials such as match, candles and fireworks before its to late.

CBS@ 2: Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary

In two years, blogging in Cebu has ripened from just being a mere online diary to something that takes an active role in civic and social awareness.

One of the factors that contributed to this positive development in the blogging scene in Cebu is the creation of a local blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society was founded on February 14, 2008, with the main goal of uniting Cebu-based bloggers into a well-bonded community. And indeed, after its creation, individuals with diverse backgrounds but with a common interest, which is to promote Cebu and advocate blogging as a key tool for progress, converged together to establish Cebu’s first and largest blogging community.

The Cebu Bloggers Society has really grown and evolved quite significantly. From its humble beginnings, the group presently has at least 80 members and the number is still bound to increase further.

And now, the group is already anticipating its 2nd founding anniversary! Dubbed as “CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration”, the event is envisioned to further strengthen the bond of friendship and camaraderie within the blogging community.

The anniversary celebration will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010, 5-9PM, at the Celebration Hall of SM Storyland, Lower Ground Floor, SM City Cebu.

Sinulog 2010

Sinulog is an annual festival held on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City, Philippines. The festival honors the so called vision of the child Jesus, known as the Santo Niño (Holy Child), patron Saint of the City of Cebu. It is a dance ritual that commemorates the Cebuano peoples Islamic and pagan origin, and their acceptance of Roman Catholicism.

The festival features a street parade with participants in bright colored costumes dancing to the rhythm of drums, trumphets and native gongs. Smaller versions of the festival are held in various parts of the province, also to celebrate and honor the Santo Niño. There is also a "Sinulog sa Kabataan" performed by the youths of Cebu a week before the parade. Recently, the festival has been promoted as a tourist attraction, with a contest featuring contingents from various parts of the country. The Sinulog Contest is usually held in the Cebu City Sports Complex.

About:

The Sinulog celebration lasts for nine days, culminating on the final day with the Sinulog Grand Parade. The day before the parade, the Fluvial Procession is held at dawn with an statue of the Santo Niño carried on a pump boat from Mandaue City to Cebu City, decked with hundreds of flowers and candles. The procession ends at the Basilica where a re-enactment of the Christianizing (that is, the acceptance of Roman Catholicism) of Cebu is performed. In the afternoon, a more solemn procession takes place along the major streets of the city, which last for hours due to large crowd participating in the event. It is noted that excessive alcohol consumption is commonly observed at this event.

On the feast day at the Basilica del Santo Niño church, a Pontifical Mass is celebrated by the Cardinal with the assistance of several bishops of Cebu. Most devotees go to the Basilica to attend the mass before heading out to the streets to watch the parade.

History:

On April 7 , 1521, the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan arrived and planted the cross on the shores of Cebu, claiming the territory for Spain. He presented the image of the child Jesus, the Santo Niño, as baptismal gift to Hara Amihan, wife of Rajah Humabon. Hara Amihan was later named, Queen Juana in honor of Juana, mother of Carlos I. Along with the rulers of the island, some 800 natives were also baptized to the Roman Catholic Church. At the moment of receiving the idol, it was said that Queen Juana danced with joy bearing this image of the child Jesus. With the other natives following her example, this moment was regarded as the first Sinulog.

This event is frequently used as basis for most Sinulog dances, which dramatize the coming of the Spaniards and the presentation of the Santo Niño to the Queen. A popular theme among Sinulog dances is Queen Juana holding the Santo Niño in her arms and using it to bless her people who are often afflicted by sickness caused by demons and other evil spirits.

Brasco Pizza & Pasta - A Delightful Treat

Last November 11, I had the chance to enjoy one of my favorite meals... Pizza!!!, when Brasco's management invited the CBS to taste their delightful menu. We were gladly welcomed by the owners themselves (siblings,Ingrid & Brian).

Where does the name Brasco originated?

We were curious at first where does the name Brasco come from, so we asked Ingrid and Brian about it . They said it was named from "BRian's ASpirations Co."; so just a sort of created name that seem to sound Italian as well. Isnt it? Their family has been known for food business like My Joy (Mc Joy before like we used to call it) and also the Butterbean. Brian said he used to be a pizza lover so he and her sisters made a research and collaborations to come up with good ideas for their new business like the recipes of pizzas,pastas&desserts etc... and most of their ingredients are imported from other countries.

The Environment or Facade

Well if you go to the "The Gallery", one of the first stores that will surely catch your eyes is the Brasco. Why? you will see its difference from other stores in terms of the their nice tables with a touch of Filipino style, the brightness of their sorroundings cause by good choice of its colors that's really relaxing to the eyes. So if you would like to have a quality time with your family, barkada or company mates, Its the best place to be because they can also accommodate group diners and they also cater parties if you want to for up to 70 people.

Ingrid served us first their truly thirst quenching shakes,we had mango shake and four seasons(combination of four different fruits) .We truly love how refreshing it was and its not too sweet so we really love sipping it compared to other shakes we've tried. Then we were served with a pasta namely "Meaty Spaghetti with Pepperoni" (pasta with tomato sauce and pepperoni) then next was their very own "Brasco Pizza" (tomato sauce, mozarella cheese, bacon, ham, pepperoni, sausage & meatballs). We were really enjoying so much the pizza that we forgot how many pieces we've eaten.Their pizzas comes in different flavors and sizes (10'' to 20"). We had the 14" but we were surely satisfied and full. The last meal they served was the "Pasta with tomatoes and Aligue". the group seem to really love the pasta with the crab roe saying its addictive.Then we were served with a very declicious! yes! i mean it..."Crazy Bliss" made from buttebean brownies with homemade vanilla ice cream",only form Brasco. . I was really enticed by the taste- the combination of hot brownie with cold vanilla cream.m mm...yummy..hehe...I I would compare it their prizes to other pizza stores, I would say Brasco has more reasonable rate of price on their meals because they are also particular with the quality and you would say that its worth the money you will be paying for it.

Satin Eclipse " the darkness is rising "

CBS once again graced the event with one of its partner' CANE EVENTS to this year's another cosplay, fashion show and photo exhibit event titled ..Satin Eclipse...the Darkness is Rising... It was another anticipated cosplay contest for those anime or manga characters fanatics and the like. The event also features the photos of the talented photographers of Cebu and finally a special fashion show featuring the lovely creations of those promising designs of JPNY Couture with ABS-CBN Cebu's personalities as their models.We again enjoyed the effective portrayal of different manga characters. It just shows how our young ones love to watch Mangas and play online game.

Here are the different categories for the cosplay event:

3.Kid Cosplay
4.Group Cosplay

Its fun to see how creatively present themselves to convince the audience especially the judges that they deserve to be called as certified cosplayers with their colorful customes and the way they copied the mannerisms of the character they're playing. I'm not familiar for those who won the individual categories only the group whom really showed a good teamwork on their presentation and that is the "Shinobi Group" who portrayed characters from the well known Manga - Naruto. There were also individual choices like the Cane Events' Choice, Photographers' Choice, ABS-CBN's Choice and the CBS' Choice of cosplayer whom for our group we choose the one who portrayed the character of "Gaara" from Shinobi group.

We were able to see as well the photos taken by the Cebuano photographers and you can really see the big potentials of the talents our dedicated photographers are showing in the photos as you closely check it. The facial expressions of the models are well taken.

The last presentation of the event is the fashion show featuring the designs with black theme of JPNY Couture, one of the sponsors of the event. It showcases different sexy gowns with all colored black that has a halloween touch in it. The one who modelled the dresses are the ABS-CBN Cebu personalities like Sheda,Kat of Kapamilya Winner Ka,,Kara of TV Patrol and those whom I'm not so familiar with..hehe.. The event started around 1 pm and ended @ 6:00 pm or so. We went home after the event and of course before I forget,we never miss the camwhoring that CBS is known for. hehe...

"In memory of the late Rosita"

Ghost stories are one of the most undying favorite topics especially during Halloween. It would vary how scary though. I don't easily believe in ghosts not until i experienced it in our own house.

The incident occurred in our residence @ Labogon,Mandaue City, Cebu around 6:00 pm

It was dinner time and as usual,its also the time where we can also have discussion with my family. At that time, only me, my auntie and my wife left in the house. my grandmother left us unexpectedly without saying goodbye cause by a sudden hypertension attack which she never had history of and I was really hurt and did not accept her death at first. Lola used to be the cook and the one who took care of me so I really missed her the way he arrange my stuff in the room. Those were the first dinners without her and not the food she cook.

We were talking at that time about her,her sudden death and the way we missed her until suddenly we noticed a strange sound in the table. We were observing the place and noticed that it was the "pitcher lid" contained with ice tea. We were shocked how did it moved without touching it. tik,tik,tik,tik...it continues to produce the strange sound and it moves on its own. We were scared at first but it was maybe "lola" who just wanted to let us know shes still inside the house with us or is it a message to us especially to me "to move on and let go". I never hesitated to took a video of what happen to prove that the lid really moves.

After few hours @ exactly....9:30 PM on the same house and the same day

My auntie placed a plate of pastry on the table for us to eat for a midnight snacks because normally we sleep late watching television. She placed it on the center table and went outside but when she get back, she noticed that the plate is empty and to think that nobody was there so she went outside and asked me if I touched it . I surely didn't and we did not know either how did it happen. So she went back to the kitchen to check and to her surprise, she saw that the pastry is in the plate again untouched. Was she was daydreaming earlier? or is somebody playing jokes with us again? We ignored it again and thinking maybe Lola was just reminding us to visit her every Monday of the week.

But @ 2:00 am several hours after that last incident ........

I usually stay late because of my hobby of drawing anything that interest me like faces of my favorite celebrities, manga characters or images of my friends or families.I was sorting our family album to see who will I draw next. I was entertained looking the old pictures of my grandmother's old pictures when was young. i saw a beautiful candid picture of her who looks like her perfect portrait and I bet it was her favorite as well. So I decided to draw it as one of my personal collections. I was concentrated in drafting her image until I felt something different around me. I was sitting in tiled ( white tiles) table in our old sari-sari store. I placed my art materials like the paper,pencil and the blade as sharpener. I keep on staring her pictures familiarizing the details of her face. It seems that she was like talking to me through her eyes. She seem to look realistic.The air seems to be colder than normal and to think I was in a closed room that time. I felt someone is standing at my back watching me closely so I look at on that direction but i cant see no one. When I went back to my work, I noticed that the blade which I used as sharpener was gone so I searched for it but in a blink of an eye,as I check on it at the back of her picture, there I saw the blade. I was suddenly feeling uneasy but continued to draw. I keep myself focus on sketching until I noticed a tear drop on the paper. I realized it was me who was crying. Why? the last time I cried was when i knew she died and did not accept it too soon. I don't understand why but I did not notice how hard I did cry not until I noticed like I can hardly breath and someone is already hugging me. It was my wife and my auntie who noticed how much noise I produced upon crying. I cried so hard that I never imagined in my life that i was that hurt. I felt her and I'm sure she touched me.I may not saw her but I'm sure she hugged me that time to let me know that she will always be there no matter what. Since then, we can always hear her, from the clinging of the kitchen utensils like she was cooking and the feeling like she was sleeping in her favorite couch every afternoon and in the room where she used to clean and keep things. We were already use to it because she never had the chance to say goodbye because of her sudden death. That is why my auntie used to visit her and my lolo's grave every Monday to say our prayers to let them rest in peace.

Maribago... Way of Fun!

Do you know what are some pros of being a blogger? getting chances to be invited in many events and get to enjoy the benefits and services for free!! yes, you read it right! for free!! Just like getting a chance to experience "Sunday by the beach" at Maribago Bluewater Resort & Spa. Pinoyworld invited all bloggers in the Philippines to enjoy the service and amenities but of course you will need to create a prepost about the resort. Every weekend ( Sunday), there will be 5 bloggers who will have the free chance to experience the fun the maribago way from October 25 until the fourth sunday of November . We were the lucky first 10 bloggers to join since November 1 was cancelled (its a holiday) and what makes it more exciting is that we are all from CBS.We all thank for the opportunity to Mr. Ruben Licera of pinoyworld for the invites. The group met at Jollibee Highway,Mandaue and when everyone's complete, we headed to the resort riding a taxicab. When we arrived, there were a lot of changes since the last time we visited the resort last May when we also had a free day tour for CBS. The front desk staff are as usual, welcomed us warmly. At first, we are quite doubtful what to do when we arrived but since there was no instruction given its only that we will be enjoying the beach, pool, and they will give us a towel and of course, free lunch buffet!! nyahmm..

In the resort, the security is also indeed tight and secured. We did not immediately get the chance to soak in the pool because the security officer had to interrogate us with questions and so we need to call sir Ruben and the FD staff Ms.Noreen for the security officer to give us go and ok signal to use the pool. It was quite a hassle at first but everything went fine. Everybody is already enjoying the refreshing water and camwhoring...Swimming in a very large and spacious pool is indeed enjoyable. We took a break @ 11:30 for lunchtime!

Mongolian Lunch Buffet....

Since it was sunday, the resort had their picnic lunch by th beach. We were all hungry at that time so upon seeing the food especially the grilled food, we were already salivating to eat. Guess who were the first group to eat? hehe.. of course its the ten of us. We were the first group to savor those mouthwatering meals and got to enjoy the "create your own" halo-halo in a buko shell.

After the meal, we had several activities and of course which are not iniatiated by the resort's staff but the group itself. We roamed for few minutes in the beach then went back to the pool and there we really enjoyed a lot. We created the pool as playground. Playing different games in the water like ..race in the water,merry-go-round,few exhibitions and especially enjoyed watching a baby of a foreign couple whom at age of 1 year and 6 months,already knew how to swim. Imagine that? and he was indeed adorable like you wanna pinch his cute pinkish face.We also had videos of different scenes and topics especially a message for the next batch..goodluck and enjoy guys! We also had our own pictorial or headshot in the beach.

We call it a day @ 5pm past since we are only allowed until 5:00 pm. We were really exhausted and I would say that was one of the most enjoyable trip with the CBS because all we did were activities that created a positive experience that if you will ask each one of us if how are we enjoying? All of us would surely say "Super, Duper Enjoy"!.

The three-day event will feature activities for the general public such as an all-day photo booth, car displays, and Women with Drive sessions conducted by Goodyear’s top racing endorsers.

Based on Land Transportation statistics, the number of new drivers has increased by an average of 5.57% year on year from 2006 to 2008. Of these, over a third are women, proof positive that women drivers are increasingly taking a solid place on the road.

This is why Goodyear Philippines has been working to empower women drivers through its Women With Drive Motoring Workshops, an advocacy campaign specially designed to equip ladies with basic auto maintenance and troubleshooting skills.

The session educates participants on road safety and allows them to understand a vehicle’s different operational areas, including the engine, fluids, electrics, belts, hoses, wipers, under body and tires. Inflate

Check your tire inflation with a tire pressure gauge. Your tire pressure will ensure fuel economy and tire performance, as well as ensure a smooth ride. The right amount of air needed by your tires is specified by the car manufacturer and is shown on the vehicle door edge, door post, glove box door or fuel door. It is also listed in the owner’s manual. As a rule, check pressure when tires are cool and never let your tires go below 20psi.

2. Rotate

Goodyear recommends rotating tires every 10,000 to 12,000 kilometers to equalize tread wear – a must before putting a lot more kilometers in your tire.

3. Replace

A worn-out tire can cause accidents so make sure you replace tires when needed. Use the P5-coin test to check your tire’s wear and tear. Insert the P5 coin into the tire tread right side up. As long as the wavy line at the bottom of the coin is not exposed, your tire treads are not worn out and have adequate grip for your safe driving.

10 Things to Check on Your Car Before Hitting the Road

Goodyear Philippines takes motoring safety beyond defensive driving by enjoining drivers of public and private vehicles to be heroes on the road via its Bayani Ng Kalsada (BNK) program, an annual nationwide search for Filipino drivers who have exhibited heroic acts of courage or extraordinary selflessness while on the road.

“Through this corporate social responsibility initiative, we at Goodyear Philippines underscore an important aspect of ensuring road safety—that it is everyone’s responsibility,” said Goodyear Philippines managing director Gerry Alava.

"Being a company whose products people entrust their lives to as they traverse the roads and highways across the Philippines, we are compelled to push the road safety message to our consumers. Our commitment to this effort is non-negotiable. More than a popularity contest, BNK is a concrete manifestation of what road safety is all about--going beyond our personal levels of comfort and becoming more aware of others who are on the road with us," he continued.

“BNK is now on its fourth consecutive year, proof of Goodyear Philippines’ commitment to the program whereby we hope will inspire Filipino drivers, by way of example, to become more responsible motorists and help make negotiating Philippine roads safer,” he added.

BNK 2009 will honor five winners: one each from four regions--Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and National Capital Region, and an overall champion. Each regional winner will receive a cash prize of P30,000, while the overall champion will receive P50,000.

This year, a dedicated search committee will actively be on the look-out for road heroes all over the country. Consumers are encouraged to nominate their own road heroes, and nominations for the search will be accepted at all Goodyear Servitek dealers and Autocare outlets across the country.

Each nomination will undergo a thorough screening process and will be judged by a prestigious panel of judges which includes transportation officials, media and sponsor representatives, and Goodyear executives.

Bayani ng Kalsada is the Philippine version of a successful, long-running Goodyear program held annually in the U.S. and Canada (since 1983) that is now also held annually in Asia Pacific countries such as Australia, Vietnam and Indonesia. Dubbed Highway Heroes, the program has recognized truck drivers who have done heroic acts of courage, sacrifice and service on the road over the last 21 years. This year’s program is being done in cooperation with the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Manila Bulletin, Pilipino Star Ngayon, Abante, Centro Negosyo, Honda Safety Center, Standard Insurance, Cebuana Lhuillier and Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI).
