1. Pierce a hole in an egg to separate the white from the yolk.	1. First apply coconut oil on the hair and leave it on for an hour.
2. Beat the egg white with 1/2 teaspoon tumeric/red sandal powder.	2. Beat the two egg whites with the juice of one lemon.
3. Apply the mixture to your entire face and neck.	3. Apply thoroughly to your scalp and hair. Leave for one hour.
4. Wash with soap/face wash when the mixture dries. TIP: The egg white can be applied alone as well. Skin will feel refreshed.	4. Wash hair with a mild shampoo and rinse. TIP: Eggs are a natural conditioner, so conditioning your hair is unnecessary.

In just a few days, an annual ritual that involves festive parties, exciting parades and raucous pub crawls will be underway. As you prepare for these festivities, please keep in mind alcohol’s sobering (pardon the pun) impact on your skin. You’re probably well aware that toxins contained in alcohol are a toxin to the cells that detoxify the body. You’re also most likely aware of the havoc alcohol can wreak on the liver, which contributes to a sallow complexion and huge pores. Our intent is not to scare you. We only ask that you think, follow a few simple precautions, select your alcoholic beverages wisely and don’t overdo it. Above all, please enjoy the festivities, but in safe moderation!

The worst and best drink options

Try to avoid white wine, dark liquor (e.g., rum or whiskey) shots and sweet mixed drinks, especially margaritas. White wine contains sugar, makes you hungry and it can lead to bloating. Dark liquor worsens a hangover, and we all know how we look with one of those. Sweet mixed drinks contain a lot of sugar. It is widely known that excess sugar contributes to cell damage and increases skin-aging. And if there’s high salt content in the sweet drink, bloating and puffiness are sure to follow.
If you must, a clear shot, a glass of red wine or a beer are your best options. A clear shot, such as vodka or gin, contains no extra sugar, salt or additives. Red wine contains anti-oxidants that slow aging of the skin, but beware if you have skin conditions like rosacea since red wine can be harmful. Beer also contains beneficial anti-oxidants. Beer does contain salt, but not in high levels, so feel free to indulge in that green beer if you are so inclined.

Stay hydrated and moisturize

Alcohol, particularly beverages with high salt content, can cause cravings for more fluids and eventual bloating. By avoiding salty drinks and drinking a glass or bottle of pure water between each alcoholic beverage, you will keep your body hydrated and address any cravings. Furthermore, if you avoid drinks with high sugar content, you will reduce risk of premature aging, inflammation and acne. At just 17, I was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with very little hope for recovery. When most girls are thinking about the prom, going to college, evaluating potential career choices and becoming a young woman, I was faced with the prospects of a compromised immune system, a debilitating disease and a future I did not want to even imagine. I was lucky to find a wonderful doctor who helped me beat the disease and guided me through recovery. Her name was Arianna.

The physical, psychological and emotional pain and discomfort associated with the recovery process certainly took its toll. I had experienced extreme weight gain, then loss, and the steroids further compromised my immune system. As a result, I was susceptible to rashes, callouses and bruising, and I could not use beauty products commonly available in the marketplace. My health was most likely going to stand in the way of my dream to serve in the military, as my health would dictate I be assigned to an inactive post. I felt defeated -- until my Father’s friend suggested I go to the Dead Sea and soak in its healing waters.

Well, two weeks before I was to report for duty, I soaked in the Dead Sea. Upon getting out of the water, I experienced a burning sensation and my skin turned red. The next day, my bruises seemed to hurt less and my dry skin miraculously disappeared. I felt so much better, and I quickly became a firm believer in the benefits of Dead Sea minerals. My Father’s friend was definitely onto something!

After successfully completing my military duty as a trainer in the intelligence field, I was offered a job to work in the United States as a sales representative for a company that sold skincare products containing Dead Sea minerals. I believed in the product, but I did not agree with the aggressive sales approach. Then, some new potentially serious health issues compelled me to journey back home to Israel, where I met my current business partner, Dekel. Together, we decided to learn more about how we could bring the unique products we believed in to the American consumer.

In 2006, I returned with my partner to open a small store in Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard, where we sold a product line similar to Arianna. Our goal, after learning even more about the business, was to raise money to fund a new product line and sales operation. This meant we needed to find someone to make the products we were seeking to distribute. Enter, TDOT Industries, the largest cosmetic manufacturer in Israel, and the maker of products containing the essence of the Dead Sea.

As we started to get closer to launching a product line, I had another health scare, compelling me to seek medical care in Boston. The top-notch care I received, the connections and relationships I developed in the area, and my even stronger commitment to share the benefits of Dead Sea minerals combined to help me choose Boston as my home, and the headquarters for our new business – Arianna Skincare.

After several years, our business plan is in place, and we have successfully launched a series of facial, skin and body care products. We also have opened four retail locations in two states (Massachusetts and Rhode Island), and we established an online presence to serve customers who cannot easily get to one of our retail locations.

My own experiences continue to drive my commitment to share the therapeutic and transformational qualities of our products. As a result, Arianna Skincare develops natural products that capture the essence of the Dead Sea and leverage the benefits of its minerals.
