If you're looking for a reason to finally listen to that nagging voice in your head telling you to hightail it out of corporate America and set out on your own as an entrepreneur or freelancer, there are a ton of voices out there to give you encouragement.
Many of them stress the intangible benefits of charting your own future: the sense of autonomy and liberation, the ability to craft a path that's truly right for you, etc. Those are often compelling arguments.
But some folks are more the practical type. Inspirational speeches and rah-rah cheerleading leaves them cold. Freedom is all well and good, they reply, but you know, I still have to feed my family and pay my mortgage.
Luckily, the case for quitting your unfulfilling job isn't all self-actualization and the possibility of a large but far from guaranteed economic upside. There are practical, dollars-and-cents reasons why setting out on your own makes more sense for more people these days than ever before (though don't get carried away--no one is saying that everyone, no matter their situation, responsibilities, or skills, should hand in their resignation tomorrow).
In the course of listing all the many reasons that 2017 should finally be the year you take the leap, outspoken blogger James Altucher rounded up three of the best practical arguments. In a Medium post he runs through all the more gauzy rationales--you'll learn more, be happier, etc.--but he also digs up some pretty compelling economic reasons why there's never been a better time to be self-employed. Here they are in brief:

1. Salaries are disappearing.

"Average income for people ages 18-35 has gone from $36,000 to $33,000 since 1992. This is not political There was a Democrat, a Republican, a Democrat, and now a Republican. This trend is not going away," Altucher points out. In other words, most of America is just growing slowly poorer by working away at their stable, full-time jobs.

2. 94 percent of all new jobs created in the past 10 years are part-time or freelance.

"Every time someone writes a line of software, a job is lost," Altucher writes. "Robin Chase, founder of Zipcar, told me, 'When self-driving cars are everywhere, 90 percent of the auto industry will disappear.' With 90 percent of the auto industry gone, the car insurance industry will disappear. The oil industry will turn upside down. The real estate industry will change. And so on."
And the auto industry is far from the only sector affected by the relentless forward march of A.I. (Terrified of this reality? Experts suggest you focus on developing these skills, and get your kids to do the same.)

3. Productivity is for robots.

"Amazon is building a new store: When you walk in, your phone beeps. When you pick up a book and put it in your basket, your phone notices. When you walk out of the store, your phone logs into your account in Amazon and buys the books in your basket. That's every store. And then maybe every restaurant. Where will the cashiers go?" asks Altucher (and just about every economist and political thinker pondering the future of work).
The hard truth is that no one knows the answer to this question (though plenty of people have ideas about how to handle the transition).
Being an entrepreneur won't completely insulate you from the stormy economic transition we're just beginning to undergo, of course, but the rocky weather to come does shift the risk-reward equation. Waiting it out in a "stable" job just isn't safe anymore, making entrepreneurship far less risky in comparison.

Beautiful and Unusual Animals

There are some incredible and unusual animals in the world, but unfortunately many of them are in serious danger of being lost forever. Over 33% of all species are considered vulnerable or endangered, with many falling foul of modern practices hunting, deforestation and pollution, which has led to habitat loss and declining numbers. The chances are that you haven't ever seen a lot of the animals on this list, and there is a danger that the opportunity to see them may not exist in the future. I am sure you will agree that each one of them would be a sad loss to the world.

1. Markhor

You could be forgiven for thinking that the markhor is an invention from the imagination of C.S. Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien, but they're real and they are the national animal of Pakistan. Unfortunately, their lofty status has not saved them from near extinction, as their unique appearance and beautiful, corkscrew horns have made them a prized target for trophy hunters. There are believed to be no more than 2,500 left in existence.

2. The Irrawaddy Dolphin

Humans cherish dolphins for their intelligence and playful nature, and the wonderfully named irrawaddy dolphin is one of the unique examples of this much-loved species. Found in the oceans surrounding southern Asia, they sport a unique domed forehead and flat face, which makes them look they are permanently smiling. But these odd creatures are fast disappearing, largely due to overfishing. At one point, less than 100 were believed to be in existence and there are now conservation efforts in motion to try and ensure we don't lost these wonderful creatures forever.

3. Langur Chato

These cute little primates are called langur chatos and are found in the highlands of Asia. They have tiny faces, button noses and short forearms - all features that encouraged famous naturalist David Attenborough to describe them as 'elves'. However, deforestation has destroyed their habitat and they are now considered 'critically endangered'.

4. Okapi

This bizarre animal looks another fantasy world creation, but can be found in the Democratic Republic of Congo. With their striped legs, extended neck and large ears, they are often described as a hybrid of a zebra and a giraffe. Indeed, when British explorers discovered this odd creature back in the 1800s, nobody believed them when they described the creature upon their return home. Threats from logging and hunting have placed Okapis on the endangered list, although efforts to protect them in designated national parks are proving successful thus far.

5. Axolotl

This strangely charming amphibian is also known as the 'Mexican Salamander' and makes its home in lakes across Central America, especially Lake Xochimilco in Mexico City. Sadly, by 2010, water pollution and contamination had wiped out nearly all wild Axolotls, and a study in 2013 found no evidence of any surviving examples in their natural habitat.

6. The Coconut Crab

Coconut crabs get their fun name from their tendency to crack coconuts open with their huge claws. Although they look the figment of a terrible nightmare, these humongous arthropods are largely harmless to humans. Human beings, however, are not harmless to them and they are considered a delicacy in some cultures, with efforts now being made to protect their dwindling numbers from the threat of extinction.

7. The Dugong

The dugong is the only living representative of the once diverse family of sea creatures known as dugongidae, and its closest relative steller's sea cow was hunted to extinction in the 18th Century. Often compared to cows due to their lumbering, friendly charm, the dugong is found in Pacific Ocean off the east coast of Africa. They are coveted for their meat and oil, and are now classified as 'vulnerable'.

8. Tree Kangaroo

Tree kangaroos are rainforest dwellers found in New Guinea and Queensland, Australia. They are the only marsupials that climb, and they make their homes high in the forest. This has left them vulnerable to the deforestation. Hunting has also had an impact on their numbers, which have decreased significantly over recent decades.

9. Bearded Vulture

Bearded vultures are indigenous to the Himalayas and other mountainous regions of Europe, Africa and Asia. They were almost eliminated over the course of the last century due to fears over the threat they posed to farm animals and children. Numbers have began to recover, partly thanks to conservation efforts which have seen them reintroduced to areas the Pyrenees in Spain, although no more than 10,000 pairs are believed to exist in the wild and they are still classified as threatened by the World Wildlife Fund.

10. Olm

The olm is one of the few amphibians in the world that is completely aquatic. They eat, breed and sleep underwater, inhabiting the caves of central and southeastern Europe and live their whole lives in darkness. Their unique habitat preferences mean that they have never developed eyes, and rely solely on their heightened senses of smell and hearing. This utterly unique creature is now classified as threatened due to water pollution.

11. Quokka

Quokkas are often considered to be the friendliest animals on the planet, and their small upturned mouths give the impression that they are always smiling. These tiny marsupials found only in Australia, have an inquisitive nature and no fear of humans. They tend to approach anyone or anything in an attempt to make a new friend and it is this unassuming personality which has led to declining numbers on the mainland, where they have frequently fallen foul to introduced predators dingos, foxes and even domestic cats and dogs. They are now classified as 'vulnerable', although better numbers exist on uninhabited islands.

12. Proboscis Monkey

The strange proboscis monkey boasts a huge, hanging nose and is only found on the island of Borneo in southern Asia. As well as the distinctive nose, they have a huge belly, which led to their nickname the 'dutch monkey' because local tribes said that Dutch immigrants arriving from Europe in centuries gone by, had the same protruding gut! Deforestation is the all-too-common threat to these bizarre primates, and numbers have decreased by more than 50% in less than half a century.

13. Saiga Antelope

The odd, alien- saiga antelope is found in western China and parts of Mongolia and is another creature with an unmistakeable nose, which flexes and contracts to help filter out the dust of their natural habitat. Unfortunately, the animal is now critically endangered due to hunting and habitat loss, with only a few thousand examples believed to remain in the wild.

14. Kakapo

New Zealand's location has given rise to many odd flightless birds, including the iconic kiwi and the extinct giant moa. Joining these avian oddities is the kakapo, the world's only flightless parrot. When people began to arrive in the region, they brought animals with them, and cats, dogs and foxes found an easy target in these strangely rotund, lumbering birds, which has driven them to near extinction. They are no longer found at all on the mainland, with fewer than 130 believed to exist on outlying, uninhabited islands.

15. Gooty Spider

The gooty spider is found only in selected forests of India and indeed their natural habitat covers only 60 square miles. Their beautiful color has made them a favorite target for the pet trade, leading to a decrease in the number of mating pairs in the wild, a problem exacerbated by logging and deforestation. These unique arachnids are now on the critically endangered list.

16. Gharial

The utterly bizarre gharial crocodile is found in the Indian subcontinent where is uses its long, narrow, water resistant snout to hunt fish. Their jaws are too delicate to pose a threat to larger animals, including humans, but overfishing and water pollution have impacted their living population, which dropped from 10,000 in 1946, to fewer than 235 in 2006, a decline of 95% over just three generations.

17. Horton Plains Slender Loris

These small primates are found only in the highlands of Sri Lanka (they are named after the Horton Plains National Park in the same country) and are known for their shy nature and huge eyes, which gives them excellent night vision - a pretty useful tool for a nocturnal creature. Some cultures believe that their flesh can cure leprosy, while other body parts can protect people from witchcraft, which has had an effect on its numbers as has loss of habitat. These beautiful animals were not seen at all between 1939 and 2002 and sightings continue to be eractic. Sadly, they remain close to extinction.

18. The Hooded Seal

Hooded seals display a beautiful printed coat and unique nasal cavity, which sits on top of their head, deflating and inflating as they swim. The cavity is also used to attract mates, with particularly impressive displays considered to be signs of good health and vitality. They are one of the biggest species of seals and grow up to 8 feet long. They are also greatly coveted by hunters - leading to declining numbers in the wild and they are now considered vulnerable to extinction.

TIPS TO GIVE YOUR EYES SOME REST

Most of us spend hours staring at a computer screen during office hours.

Researches have shown that eye strain is quite common in 50 to 90 percent

Here are some ways to avoid and treat eye strain.

1. Give your eyes some rest

It's important to give your eyes some rest and shift your focus away from

the computer. Get up from your desk for some time and try to move around

at least once every hour or so. If possible, lean back and relax your eyes for few seconds.

2. Get out from your office space to breathe some fresh air

It is important to breathe some fresh air for sometime. When you work

indoors in an air-conditioned environment for long it tends to

dry your eyes because of the relative dryness in air.

3. Do some relaxing exercises

Cover your eyes with your hand extended towards your forehead,

close your eyes and take a deep breath through your nose, hold in for few seconds.

Do this exercise for 15 to 30 seconds every day to relieve yourself of the strain.

4. Massage your eyelids

Take luke warm tea bags and place them on your eyes for at-least 10 minutes.

After removing the tea bags, massage your eyelids against your brow bone

for ten seconds. By doing this you will stimulate your tear glands, which

prevents dry eyes and keeps symptoms of eye strain at bay.

5. Use soothing eye drops

Sitting in front of computer leads to tired and dried eyes, in this condition it

is advisable to use rose water or eye drops that do not contain preservatives to

6. Blink frequently

Blinking provides a break for our eyes, but is often forgotten due to heavy

If you want to get the best out of your iPhone and improve iPhone battery life, we have some handy top tips that will help you maximize your iPhone battery.
There are a number of things that can drain the battery life, if your follow our tips you will be able to improve your iPhone battery life and get the best out of your device.

The first thing that your should do is check what apps or services are using up most of your battery life on your iPhone, this can be done by going to Settings > Battery, under the Battery Percentage settings you will see 'Battery Usage', this provides a list of the apps and features that have been using your battery and will show you a percentage of what each app is using over the last 24 hours and also over the last week.

1. Turn down the screen brightness on your iPhone

This might seem like an obvious one, but if you are using your iPhone on full brightness then this could use up your battery much quicker than if you ran it on 50 percent brightness. Turning down the brightness to around 50% or even 25% percent could make some significant improvements on your battery life.
This can be done by going to Settings > Display & Brightness and then reducing the brightness to what you think will work for you. If you find a level of brightness that works for you, then you could turn off the auto brightness feature as this adjusts the handsets brightness based on the lighting around you.

2. Turn off background app refresh to help improve iPhone battery life

One feature in the latest versions of Apple's iOS that is worth looking at turning off is Background app refresh. This can be done by going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
There are two options that you can use here, you can turn the Background App Refresh feature off for each individual app you have installed on your iPhone, or you can turn the feature off completely, so none of the app refresh in the background.
The second method of turning off the feature completely so that none of the apps refresh is the one I use and this will help you increase the battery life on your handset to get the most out of your iPhone.

3. Improve iPhone battery life by turning off notifications

If you are running a lot of apps on your iPhone and have notifications on for all of them, this can significantly use your battery, constant notifications from multiple apps will have a negative effect on your iPhone's battery, editing which ones send notifications can help improve battery life on your device.
I tend to turn off notifications for the majority of the applications I use, the ones I keep on are for things like email, text messagse and generally a few other apps that I want notifications from.
You can choose by each app that you have installed on whether you want to receive notifications from that application, this can be done by going to Settings > Notifications and then choosing the app that you want to change the settings on, this is a great way of saving power on your iPhone and increasing your battery life.

4. Change your email settings from Push to Fetch

If your email is set to Push and you receive a lot of emails every day then this can use up a lot of your iPhone's battery life, one way around this is to change from Push email to Fetch email, this allows you to choose an interval where your iPhone will check for new emails.
By using the Fetch feature rather than Push, you can choose to let your iPhone retrieve your emails on a regular basis, you can choose to have them fetched every 15 minutes, 30 minutes or hourly. There is also another option, you can choose to Fetch your emails manually, this will happen when you open your email map, then latest emails will then be downloaded to your device when you run the Mail app.
In order to change your email settings from Push to Fetch, you need to go to Settings > Mail, Contact, Calendars > Fetch New Data, you can then choose either Fetch or Push and the time interval you want to use. This is really helpful if you get a lot of emails, even if you set Fetch to get your email every 15 minutes, it should be better than you receiving emails every few minutes.

5. Connect to WiFi wherever possible to improve iPhone battery life

One of the biggest battery drains on the iPhone is not the handset itself but a low or weak signal with your mobile carrier, a poor signal is one of the largest battery drains on the iPhone.
If you have a number of apps setup to use your carrier service, then connecting to WiFi whenever possible should help with this problem and stop your handset searching for a signal constantly.
If you are in a poor signal area, you iPhone will constantly search for a new signal, this can be a large battery drain.
If you are in an area with a really bad signal for a while and cannot connect to WiFi, then you can put the handset into Airplane Mode, this will stop your iPhone from constantly searching for a new signal, of course you will not be able to use many features of the handset in Airplane mode.

6. Improve iPhone battery life by turning off Automatic Downloads

Another way to increase the battery life on your iPhone is to turn off automatic downloads when using cellular. This will also save you data on your monthly mobile data plan, as you can set it so that the downloads only happen when you are on WiFi.
You can choose whether you want to turn off automatic downloads for Music, Apps, Books and also updates for apps, it is possible to select the ones you want or turn them all off by turning off the mobile data feature.
This can be done by going to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Use Mobile Data, you can also select individual items including apps, music, updates and books.

7. Save battery life by reducing Auto Lock time

When you have finished using your iPhone the handset will automatically turn the screen off after a set amount of time, choosing a lower setting for Auto Lock can help improve battery performance.
I personally use the lowest setting which is 30 seconds, you can choose between 30 seconds and five minutes or choose never which means that you handset will always be on. With the latest iPhone's having a fingerprint scanner, it is easy to unlock your device after it auto locks, so choosing a lower setting is not a problem as it is simple to unlock your device.
This can be adjusted in the settings menu on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Auto Lock and choosing which time setting suits you.

8. Turn off Location Tracking on your iPhone

You can turn off location tracking unless you use Apple Maps or Google Maps on a regular basis, this can always be turned back on if you want to use one of those apps, this should help improve the battery life on your handset.
Location Tracking can be turned off on your iPhone by Going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, you can choose to turn them all off or choose which apps you want to use to share your location

9. Cut down on what apps are using Spotlight Search

Spotlight Search is designed to search everything on your iPhone, this includes apps, contacts, your photos and more, you can turn off the ones that you don't need to use the feature with.
This can be done by going to Settings > General > Spotlight Search, you can then turn off apps individually.

10. When your iPhone battery gets low, turn on Low Power Mode to keep it going for longer

One of the features in iOS 9 is a new Low Power Mode, this can be turned on when your battery is lower than normal. Low Power Mode on the iPhone is designed to optimize battery life and get the most out of the battery power that you have left.
Turning on Low Power Mode on the iPhone will reduce usage of a number of services, including mail fetch, automatic downloads, background app refresh and also some visual effect, this can be really useful when you have a low battery. You can turn on Low Power Mode on your iPhone by going to Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode.

11. Don't shut down apps, it uses more power to shut them down

Apple's Craig Federighi recently confirmed that shutting down apps on your iPhone will not improve battery life.
Once apps are put into background mode they use no battery power at all, regularly shutting down background applications will actually use more power than if you just leave them open in the background.

12. Turn off Bluetooth and AirDrop if you don't use them

Many people, myself included have Bluetooth and AirDrop turned on even when we are not using these features, if you turn both of these off when not in use then this will give you additional battery life on your iPhone or iPad.
I only use Bluetooth with my hands free kit in the car, so turning this off when I am not in the car has helped increase the battery life of my iPhone. I also rarely use AirDrop, but when I do this can easily be turned back on from the settings menu.
These top handy tips should help you improve the battery life on your iPhone, most of them will work on the majority of versions of iOS with some only working on iOS 9 or above. These are designed to help you get the maximum battery life out of your iPhone.

Refrigerators are great - They keep our drinks cool and our food fresh. However, despite our tendency to just toss whatever food we have into the fridge, there are certain foods that will fare much better outside of the cold environment than in it. Here are the 10 most common foods people keep in the fridge, but shouldn't.

1. Tomatoes

The fridge does keep tomatoes fresh, but it does this by stopping the process of ripeness. When this process is stopped, the tomato loses its flavor. In addition to the loss of flavor, the refrigerator also changes the texture of the tomato, making it powdery or floury. Tomatoes are best kept out of cold environments.

2. Basil

When one keeps fresh basil in refrigeration, it withers very quickly, but before it withers all the way and becomes unusable, it absorbs the taste of the foods kept closest to it. The best way to keep fresh basil is outside the fridge and in a glass of fresh water, just like flowers.

3. Potatoes

The cold of the fridge turns the starch in the potato into sugar at a faster pace than normal, and we're left with a sweet yet grainy potato. Keep your potatoes in a sealed sack and in a cool place that isn't actually cold. They should also be covered, because being exposed to sunlight makes them grow 'eyes'.

Tip: Keep an apple between them to keep them fresh!

4. Onions

The dampness in the fridge makes onions soft and moldy. The best way to keep onions is in a cool and dry place, outside the fridge. Green onions can be kept in the fridge because of their high % of water content. Be sure not to keep onions next to the potatoes, because it'll make them both go bad faster.

5. Avocado

If you're waiting for the avocado to ripen, you should never put it in the fridge. A refrigerator does well by the avocado, but only if it has already ripened and you want to prevent it from going bad.

6. Garlic

When we keep garlic in the refrigerator, it begins to shoot out and grow green stalks. Also, it'll get a moldy, sticky texture. It is best to keep garlic in a dry, cool place.

7. Bread

When it comes to bread, there are a number of options. If this is sliced bread you are going to use within a few days, it can be kept in the fridge. When you keep bread for longer, the fridge will make it dry out faster, and so it's best to keep it somewhere closed off, but not in the refrigerator. If you only rarely eat the bread, it can even be kept in the freezer.

8. Olive Oil

Olive oil should be kept somewhere dark and cool, but when placed in refrigeration, it freezes and becomes similar to butter. That said, you can thaw it again to its original state.

9. Coffee

Storing coffee in the fridge makes it quickly lose its flavor and even absorb the flavor of foods stored near it. Coffee should be kept somewhere dark and cool. However, if you want to keep a large amount of coffee at home, you can keep it in the depths of the freezer - not near the door.

10. Honey

One of the most fascinating facts about honey is that it nevergoes bad. You can eat honey from a thousand years ago, and it'll still be good. There is no reason to keep honey in the fridge and it should be avoided since the cold will make it a solid and it's always better kept at room temperature.
