Wedding ceremonies around the world offer a colorful lens through which to view a country and its people.In Bulgaria, despite its many years as a communist regime in which religion was not tolerated, Muslims hold festive winter marriage cermonies. n India, Jordan, Japan, and China , to name a few, some marriage cermonies are held as mass events in order to reduce costs. Some ceremonies aim for the extremes — even underwater — while others gracefully carry on a tradition despite years of violence. And while some fight for their right to marry, others have achieved it after years of stuggle.

Buffalo USB hub makes no “right side up” demands

When it comes to plugging in a USB device, don’t you wish that there was some sort of indicator on the USB plug itself to let you know just which way is “up” without having to peer inside, and making a referential look at the USB port itself? I would have thought that someone might have done something about it, but after hitting USB 3.0 only do we have what could be a viable worldwide solution down the road to avoid future confusions. Buffalo of Japan has a new USB hub that will roll out sometime at the end of this month, allowing you to connect your USB cord regardless of which way it faces – that is, upwards or downwards.

No longer do you need to squint and peer into your USB jack to determine how the USB connector is plugged in – but unfortunately, Buffalo’s attempts maxes out at USB 2.0 – why can’t they just release a USB 3.0 version instead? Available in blue, black, white, and pink colors at $23 a pop after conversion, this is a no-brainer USB hub.

On Internet was found a realistic image of Sony Xperia Play 2 by Jsus. He claims the source, the phone is real, but believe that we will not, because no previous leak from Jsus has not been confirmed (all were high quality fakes), and the search button, which Sony (Ericsson) is not very fan of, very confused.

Acer has announced a new Android-smartphone, which plans to demonstrate next week in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress 2012. Device was the name of Acer Liquid Glow. It comes with the latest version of the operating system Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Other features include Acer Liquid Glow 3.7-inch touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash on the back of the housing, support for NFC. Unfortunately, in the official press release, the manufacturer has not been generous with details of new products. On the other hand, before the onset of a smartphone at WMC in 2012 remained very short, and you can wait a few days.

In the sale of Acer Liquid Glow should arrive in the summer.

The newest Test a Cancer prompt Detection developed

Specialists of Ben-Gurion University (Israel) and Soroka Medical Center were able to create a fairly simple blood test, to identify different types of cancers at an early stage of development.

For diagnosis the experts need no more than one teaspoon of blood. According to the developers, the new technology is based on infrared radiation, which is able to highlight changes in the blood to the spread of disease in humans.

In humans, a cancer patient's blood is the release of a large number of molecules in the bloodstream, which allows the blood to absorb light differently, when compared with the blood of otherwise healthy people. It should be noted that this test has already been tested on two hundred patients. In the end it turned out that the accuracy of this test is ninety percent.

If you’re the sort of person who spends ages looking for your mobile phone, Google may have the answer.
And the solution will be right in front of your eyes – literally.
The technology giant is close to launching a pair of futuristic glasses that would deliver all the services of a smartphone straight to the wearer’s eye.

Featuring a miniature display on one lens, the hi-tech specs allow users to surf the internet or deal with text messages and emails without lifting a finger.
The screen is controlled with a ‘mouse’ which is moved simply by tilting your head. And should you still wish to actually talk to someone, it is believed the glasses will let you make calls using an in-built microphone.

Reports suggest the device, which would revolutionise the smartphone market, could be available by the end of this year costing less than £380 – making it cheaper than Apple’s iPhone.

Users would also be able to see through the lenses as normal and go about their daily business, then with a flick of the head activate the display and start surfing.

The glasses would use the same Google operating system that powers Android smartphones and tablets and would connect to the internet through 3G or next-generation 4G mobile networks.
They would also be equipped with GPS mapping technology and motion sensors, as well as a camera. It brings the prospect that wearers could be given information instantly on the buildings they are looking at, on nearby landmarks or friends who are in the area.

But the devices will also bring new potential for advertisers to reach users in ever more personal situations, such as in a lift, a restaurant or relaxing on their sofa.
Seth Weintraub, from the 9 to 5 Google blog, revealed clues to how the glasses would work. ‘The system currently used is a head tilting to scroll and click,’ he said. ‘We are told it is very quick to learn and once the user is adept at navigation, it becomes second nature and almost indistinguishable to outside users.

‘These glasses, we heard, have a front-facing camera used to gather information and could aid in augmented reality apps. The heads-up display is only for one eye and on the side.’
The glasses are apparently being developed in Google’s top-secret research laboratory in Mountain View, California. Apple is also thought to be developing pioneering technology, such as smartphones that can be worn as watches or sewn into clothing.

HTC One E, S and X: the latest leak

As you know, at the upcoming exhibition MWC 2012, HTC plans to introduce three new smartphones, which will be released under the name HTC One E, HTC S and HTC X. So far we had not much data on these devices, but now, three days before the event in Barcelona, the Taiwanese manufacturer has decided to stir interest in their devices, and told a little bit of official information.

The first device, HTC One X, is perhaps the most interesting of the entire trio. The manufacturer informed that this device will get a quad-processor Tegra 3, a large LCD-display with 720p resolution and an 8-megapixel camera on the rear panel. At MWC 2012, HTC will provide an heir to his "budget models» Wildfire S. They will become a model HTC One S. In all three shoes four embedded sensors—toe, heel, ball and outer foot—work with an internal accelerometer to accurately measure movement and relay stats to your iPhone wirelessly.

The three-axis accelerometer and Bluetooth sensor are contained in a removable disc that lasts for about 40 hours between charges, which are achieved using the included USB adapter. An innovation from Nike's "Kitchen," this measurement technology isn't new—it has been used extensively in design research to better understand how athletes move. The revolution comes from the company's ability to bring this innovation to consumers in a usable and exciting form.

While the sensor arrays are the same in all shoes, the Nike+ apps the data is sent to provide the different approaches to tracking, motivation and sharing data. Nike+ Basketball lets you know how high you jump, how quick you run, and how hard you play. In addition to these precise stats a universal NikeFuel score is captured—all allowing the user to compare to previous games plus general exercise with their friends.

The Nike+ Training platform takes the same approach, quantifying each and every movement, shuffle, step, lunge and jump. For training, however, the app features videos of pro athletes coaching you through a series of workouts dynamically sequenced based on your fitness goals. The data captured from these workouts not only provides the measurement necessary to set new goals and improve, but also statistics to share with friends or competitors.

All the data gathered is meant not only to impress but to inspire. By making a workout into something close to a game, feelings will positively shift to improve performance and dedication. Teardrop-shaped, Magic Mouse-inspired iPhone 5 mockup: Cool or?

We are fans of Ciccarese Design here at 9to5Mac, even when its renderings do not closely follow Apple’s design language. The design studio’s new iPhone 5 mockup exploits a teardrop design meme in a lovely way (and as commenters pointed out, it’s inspired by the Magic Mouse). As rumormongers are well aware, a teardrop-shaped iPhone 5 was often speculated in the weeks and months leading up to the iPhone 4S launch.

The hype was in vain for Apple’s new phone, though, that turned out to be almost identical to its predecessor (at least from the outside). With all eyes now on a rumored summer (or is it fall?) unveiling of a sixth-generation iPhone, the pundits again believe the launch will mark a major design change for Apple’s phone with the biggest visual overhaul since the original iPhone.

Now, do not get us wrong: We really do not think these mockups will be accurate. For starters, how would this thing sit flat on a table? Nevertheless, the renderings are interesting and appealing and we would love to hear your thoughts, so meet us in comments. Oh, and what is with the glowing Apple logo on the back, cool or what?

SmartGuard Pepper Spray Case for Use with iPhone Enhances the Personal Safety of iPhone Users

For those who have been waiting since the debut of the iPhone to weaponize it, your time has come. Piexon, the makers of fine pepper spray related products, has developed the SmartGuard, a tube of mace attached to an iPhone case. The device’s creators reason that if everyone is carrying a smartphone these days, it makes perfect sense to attach a pressurized nozzle of irritant to it. That way, you’ll never leave home without your pepper spray.

If you’re keen on getting yourself a weaponized iPhone of your very own, it’ll set you back about $55 (49.90 Swiss francs). Replacement canisters, which you’ll need since each has only has six seconds of spray-time, will cost you about $28. The SmartGuard is also for the fashion conscious, coming in black, white, and pink.

Unfortunately, the SmartGuard is merely an iPhone-based holster for a pepper spray canister. Simply detach the cylindrical canister, aim the end at your attacker, and depress the plunger with your thumb. Because the nozzle is located at the bottom of the canister and the plunger locked when attached to the phone, the pepper spray cannot be used when holstered. Frankly, this is probably a good thing as it greatly reduces the likelihood of accidentally spraying yourself in the face when making a call.

Joking aside, I can see some utility in this. Should a mugger order you to surrender your wallet and phone, you’ll have a perfect opportunity to retaliate with the SmartGuard. However, the major drawback of having pepper spray strapped to your phone is that everyone will know you have it. Answer a call at work and your self defense weapon is in plain sight. Whip out your phone to check into a restaurant on FourSquare and now everyone knows you’re packin’. This isn’t so much a tactical drawback as it is socially awkward.

If that’s not a problem for you, why not take one of these and just strap a cellphone to it? Then people will know you’re serious.

The 61,000 square foot Inventionland offices opened in 2006. The facility features 16 unique work areas including a castle, a cave, a giant robot and a pirate ship for employees to work in. There are also waterfalls, trees and chirping birds. So the next time you see some really cool new product, remember that there’s a good chance it was invented on the lower deck of a fake pirate ship.

Although not available yet, the Nike Flyknit technology will be released for general consumption by July 2012 in time for the London Summer Olympics.

So, I admit it, after I succumbed to peer pressure, got rid of my flip phone and marched out and purchased an iPhone (even after everyone suggested I wait for the new one) I have been enjoying it immensely. I have renewed interest in looking for stuff to do with it, and I came across this rather nifty little gadget.

Take a look at the EyeSee 360 GoPano for the iphone (4 and 4S). The GoPano is a micro lens that simply snaps on your iPhone and enables you to take 360 degree panoramic videos! You can pan during live recording, or even in the already recorded video. This is because the GoPano is recording all 360 degrees around you simultaneaously. (sort of like a high tech karate movie visual effect.) This lets you go back to your movie and choose to see any angle at any point and time. Pretty awesome.

Evidently, the GoPano actually uses 2 specially curved mirrors which gather info from all directions and reflects it back into your iPhones camera. Then, with the assistance of GoPanos app, your movie is magically transformed into an interactive scene where you get to control just where you want to look. You can also share your cool videos with family and friends on GoPanos website.

Originally designed for aviation and military use, there is a 700 dollar professional option that mounts to your video camera, but the micro, designed just for your iPhone is a stael at only 79 bucks, and the app is available at the iTunes store for free. Eidetic USB Connector Makes Sure You Plug It in Right, Every Time

Earlier today, I bent the USB plug on my flash drive because I jammed it into the hub on my laptop the wrong way. This wasn’t the first time I plugged it in the wrong way, although it’s the first drive I’ve ruined because of it.

This is where Lim Jae Min’s “Eldetic” design for USB ports and the USB connector comes in. He’s come up with a smart design that would make sure you plug in your drives and cables in the right direction, just by feeling the actual port or the connector itself.

This would save time, ease frustrations, and make sure you won’t break a flash drive again just because you tried to put it in the wrong way.

Too bad it would require retrofitting existing devices and cables in order to implement this sort of idea – which should have been part of the original USB Type A connector standard. At least Micro USB and Mini USB connectors don’t have this problem.

The Eidetic USB was one of the award winning entries in the 2011 red dot design concept awards.

LG Optimus L3, L5, L7 - a new stylish series of L-Style

LG announces a new series of Android-smartphone called LG L-Style. The line includes models LG L3, LG L5, and LG L7, all three of which use new technology, proprietary technology, LG Floating Mass Display, which enhances the effect of the subtleties of devices.

LG L7 model offers 4.3-inch multitouch display, and the model LG L5 has a 4-inch multitouch display. LG L7 and LG L5 will be running an operating system Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and both will be available sometime in the first half. Unfortunately the company has not announced a precise date.

As for the model LG L3, then the device will be running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and offers a 3.2-inch display. This model will go into the European retail next month. New price is still unknown.
The appearance of all three devices, a series of LG L-Style expected at the exhibition in 2012.

Orange London Smartphone based on Intel Medfield prepares

OK, we’ll ask the question. After trawling the web for literally minutes and hitting lots of nothing we’re a bit puzzled by the Orange London. The shot above was sent in by Simon Hardy, who was presented with the info after completing a survey..

As an Orange customer, I was signed up to a marketing scheme of theirs called Better Together. This basically involves being asked to complete various surveys related to phones & plans, internet, adverts, etc. Today I completed a survey on what they claimed to be a phone that they will be introducing called the Orange London.

Whether this is a fictional phone we’re not sure, and Simon is right to point out the distinct lack of info regarding the OS, which would be a pretty big deciding factor and something he’s mentioned in his response.

So, is the Orange London, complete with a 1.6GHz Intel CPU, 16GB memory and multi-touch 4.03″ screen for real? We’ll have to see. That “one of a kind” 8 megapixel HD camera with image stabilizer and 10-shots-per-second ability certainly sounds very interesting indeed.

Of course, it could all be a big hoax. If it is, I’ll be the first to wave our fists in the air and shout, “I’ll gett you pesky kids!”

ZTE is not able to wait until MWC show and talkes about their new Android-smartphone. Both new products will be running an operating system Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

ZTE PF200 is made in monoblock form factor and has a 4-inch display with a resolution 960h540 points, 8-megapixel camera and front. The novelty is based on dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and supports modules LTE, NFC, DLNA, MHL.

ZTE N910, positioned as a mid-level phone. It is based on single-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and is equipped with a display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, front camera. New modules support LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and DLNA. ZTE N910 smartphone will work in networks of CDMA.
