Smart Watches are the way forward, and the Blue Sky Design Studio developed the touch screen I’m Watch, which is synchronized with the smartphone via Bluetooth. Works with iPhone and Android. Updates are introduced directly into one of the screens of the clock.
The clock allows users to write text messages, email, Twitter, check the update status of Facebook, etc. You can even make and receive phone calls through the speaker. The watch has a square in front of 240 pixels measuring 1.5 “. The clock has 4 GB of storage and 64 MB of RAM.

NEURON The Car Knows What You’re Thinking

I’d love to travel back in time, point and laugh at all the futurists who thought we would be in flying cars by now. Of course they couldn’t have possibly foreseen a future where the challenges of navigable controls, integrated computers and an energy crisis dominate the landscape. The NEURON is an IMAGINATIVE look at how BMI (brain interface technology) could bring “man and machine” even closer. It doesn’t rely on physical dexterity. Just think it and it’s done. Now channeling Spock… “fascinating.”

Thanks to our sophisticated brains which contain both serial and parallel processors, we have the perfect machine to drive all our doo-dads. Research converting brainwaves into digital commands are still in its infancy but shows tremendous promise. For the most part this has been relegated the medical industry. What about the rest of us?

Think about a car that knows you, I mean REALLY KNOWS YOU. Hell, even your spouse can’t read your brain waves. TANGENT – if someone could invent sunglasses or something for men to be able to read women’s brainwaves, get the Sham-Wow guy to promote it. I heard he needs a job.

Back to the subject at hand. The car knows how you drive, your idiosyncrasies, your id if you will. This level of interaction could enable the driver to feel in control while significantly reducing human error. It also enables the machine to learn and predict what you’ll do even before you think it.

But how will this impact automotive design? On a basic level, it means interior spaces are no longer governed by a fixed internal architecture. If there is no steering wheel or dashboard full of controls, why does there need to be a fixed driving position’? Could users become so in tune with their products and able to control them with such precision that crashes become a thing of the past? Subsequently, if they no longer require as many safety systems, does the car have to be made of metal? Could we create a more efficient paradigm, a product that has less impact on its surrounding environment and that allows the car to be constructed in a simpler manner.

HILO - Concept Computer (Tablet High On Felt!)

The HiLo is quite an interesting concept; it is a 10” OLED Tablet with a wireless felt keyboard. Now the thing about the keyboard is that it’s styled as a jacket to hold the tablet. At the same time it features fused (hot pressed – embedded circuitry) keys on the outside. Naturally, you use the keyboard as desired, however I’m getting a kick out of the casual interaction between the protective jacket and the tablet. It’s just too awesome!

New Panasonic LUMIX (DMC-)LS5 really shines in low light situations

Panasonic has announced a new LUMIX series point-and-shoot camera today in the (DMC-)LS5 which is expected to debut in November.

The (DMC-)LS5 features a 14.1-megapixel sensor with 5x optical zoom and a 26mm wide-angle lens. One of its major strengths is said to be its ability to deliver high-quality photos in low-light settings.

Other features of this compact camera include the 2.7-inch LCD, ISO sensitivty of up to 1600 (which can be extended to ISO 6400), O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization), 720p video recording (at 30fps) and a built in image uploader for easy social network sharing.

Pricing on the (DMC-)LS5 will come out around 30 days before the retail release of the model in November.

Cooler Master goes all out with its first CM Storm series gaming headset

Cooler Master has extended its CM Storm branding into the world of gaming headsets today with the launch of the CM Storm Sirus 5.1 headset.

While being Cooler Master's first shot at a gaming headset, they look to have gone all out when running over the feature set, promising 'true' 5.1 channel surround sound with its eight internal speakers (four on each side), uni-directional mic, gold-plated USB connectors and a cool piece of supporting software included with it that CM calls the "Tactical Mixing Console", allowing players individual adjustment for each speaker and better overall control of the sound delivery, along with customized profiles being possible that better suit individual game titles.

The two main 40mm speakers promise a deep powerful bass along with six 30mm drivers that provide crisp, directional audio that make up the 5.1 experience. The specs state a frequency response of 10Hz - 20,000Hz and an impedance of 32 Ohms.

Meanwhile, the earpads are interchangeable with the inclusion of leatherette and breathable waved earpads, with the former being better for noise cancellation and the latter for a better 'oxygenated' experience.

To give you an idea on price, the Sirus will first reach European shelves mid August at an RRP of €119.99.

Microsoft announce Explorer Touch Mouse

Microsoft Hardware have just announced the new Explorer Touch Mouse which expands on the touch strip technology that was featured on the Arc Touch Mouse by providing vertical and horizontal navigation, allowing a user to swipe the mouse in any direction. Microsoft have also added the ability to change the speed of scrolling from slow, to medium and then "hyperfast" for those insanely long documents.

Another feature that the Explorer Touch Mouse sports is haptic technology which allows you to feel and hear just how quickly you're scrolling. The Microsoft Explorer Touch Mouse also features BlueTrack Technology which allows the mouse to be used on a wide variety of surface and not just your desk.

The Explorer Touch Mouse is looking to hit shelves in September and will have a price of US$49.95

PXP Bike Will Be Able To Shift Using Your Mind

Transportation in the 21st and 22nd century is bound to be different than we could ever really expect it to be but still what one group of researchers are working on would be quite the advancement in riding a bike.
The Australian Hoverbike is one concept that sounds really cool when you actually start talking about it, even if it is something that doesn’t appear to be anywhere near ready for action on an everyday basis.
There was also a foldable scooter that had a large carrying space but was mostly known for the fact that it was pretty easily transported even when you weren’t riding it.

The newest endeavor in this particular line is one being put together by the Parlee Cycles group as a part of the project known as the Toyota Prius Projects. The final goal is to make it possible to be able to have this bike shift gears using thought control. Right now the bike, known as the PXP officially, can actually switch bears using a smartphone, which may seem a bit cumbersome when you start thinking about dialing up a button on the iPhone as opposed to just flipping a switch on the bike itself but it is an important step forward in getting to their final goal. The bike itself is a nifty looking little thing that seems to sit somewhere between the usual time trial racing bike and a regular road ready bike.
When the PXP is actually outfitted in a way that will allow the rider to control the gear shift with their mind, they will use an improvement of the mechanisms that are currently being used to interface with the iPhone. This souped up form of communication would depend on neurotransmitters in the rider’s helmet that would communicate with a transceiver on the bike’s seat that would then communicate wirelessly with the gear shift.

Cooler Master's much anticipated COSMOS II pictured

In case you weren't already aware, Cooler Master are paving way for the return of COSMOS, their widely loved, iconic enthusiast tower chassis of years past. All the attributes we loved about the COSMOS are said to be remaining, with a ton of exciting new features added into the mix.

Now we can get an even better idea of what to expect from the COSMOS II, thanks to the folks over at TPU posting up a number of images of what looks to be a very close to final form version of the chassis.

The case remains true to the original with its suspended box shape design, albeit a little more curvey this time around, and is roughly the same overall size, but adds all the good stuff expected from a high end tower of today including USB 3.0 ports, touch sensitive buttons, accommodation for 2.5-inch SSDs and a smarter cooling sub-system arrangement.

The wide opening behind the CPU socket area is also indicative that the case may even be able to accomodate dual-socket boards including the eVGA SR-2.

We're not sure as to when CM intends to launch the case yet, nor at what price point. For obvious reasons expect to pay a pretty penny for it though.
