Railway Communication in Gujrat

City of Gujrat is situated on Karachi-Lahore-Rawalpindi-Peshawar Railway Track, so you can travel to and from Gujrat to almost any city of Pakistan which is linked through railway system. There is also a big Railway Junction, Lalamusa Railway Junction in District Gujrat about 10km from Gujrat City. Khyber Train which travels from Peshawar to Karachi passes through Gujrat. Road Communication in Gujrat

Gujrat is linked with Islamabad and Lahore through Grand Trunk Road. GT Road is an oldest highway of Pakistan which connects Lahore, Muridke, Gujranwala, Rahwali, Wazirabad, Gujrat, Lalamusa, Kharian, Sarai Alamgir, Jhelum, Dina, Gujar Khan, Rawat, Islamabad, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Hassan Abdal, Attock and Peshawar. GT Road was built by a Muslim Emperor Sher Shah Suri for military purpose so it was also called in past as Sher Shah Suri Road.

A Road also linked Gujrat to Sargodha, Bhalwal, Phalia and Mandi Baha ud Din While Gujrat is linked with Sialkot, Daska and Sambrial through two ways. All towns and villages of Gujrat are linked with each other or to main cities through carpeted roads.

Airports in Gujrat

Although, district Gujrat has not any commercial airport but it is connected with Sambrial Airport Sialkot, Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and Benazir International Airport Islamabad with first-class road network. Sambrial Airport is only on a drive of 30 minutes, while it will take you 2~3 hrs to reach to Lahore Airport and 3~3.5 hrs to reach to Islamabad Airport.

There is an airport in Gujrat which was built to land training aero planes but its use has been made ceased.

Biography of Ustad Imam Din Gujrati

Ustad Imam Din Gujrati- Biography

Imam Din was his real name while he used pen name of Ustad so got fame by the name of Ustad Imam Din Gujrati. He was born in 1870 and died on 22 February, 1954. He was very famous for his funny poetry.

He worked as a Clerk in Municipal Committee of Gujrat.

Ustad Imam Din’s Education

His actual school education was only primary level but he used to write many honorary degrees with his name. All these degrees were not awarded by any university to him; however he himself or his fans awarded these honorary titles to him. His self-styled titles are explained as follows:

‘BA’ – Baba-e-Adab
‘MA’ – Mojad-e-Adab
‘ASS’ – Afsar Shair-o-Shaery
‘PHD’ – Phaazil Degree
‘USA’ – Ustad Shouraa-e-Alam

Honorary degree of BA (Baba-e-Adab) was awarded by Mian Ehsan-ul-Haq, Session Judge Gujrat in the presence of Mr. C King Deputy Commissioner Gujrat and other officers, lawyers and lords of city. Titles of USA and ASS were awarded to him by Halqa-e-Adab Gujrat in 1944.

Ustad Imam Din’s Poetry

He started writing poetry in 1902. He also wrote some poetry books; Bang-e-Dhul is one of his very famous books. Many people said that he named this book as the name of Bang-e-Dara of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He also met with Allama Iqbal in Lahore and wrote following Punjabi verses about this meeting:

Hum ny bhe Lahore ja ker daikha, Allama Sir Muhammad Iqbal
Baatain bhe kerta jata tha, huqa bhe peeta jata tha naal naal

Ustad Imam Din wrote following poem at success of Muslim League in Punjab Assembly Elections.

Shukeriya laakhoon karooron Ya Khuda kertay hain hum

Aaj Nusrat-o-Fateh ka sajda ada kertay hain hum
Duniya main jis kaam ke ibtada kertay hain hum
Teri rehmat ke madad sy inteha kertay hain hum
Ban gay hain hum ouj-e-falak kay aftab
Mr. Jinah ko jab sy apna rehnuma kertay hain hum

He had written poetry on many unique topics but he got fame due to his funny poetry.

Rescue 1122 at Work Gujrat News

A very terrible accident of a biker took place on Sargodha Road's Railway Overhead Bridge at, 03 September 2011 at about 02:25pm. The injured person got some severe injuries; his right leg was broken from two points and he his right arm was also fractured.
In the meantime We reached there, people are gathering at that spot. Someone calls to Rescue 1122 and the Rescue Team reached there within 4 minutes with ambulance. Team was comprised upon 3 persons, they were well equipped with all the basic gadgets. Rescue 1122 Team provided first aid to the victim with care. They were good in their expertise and polite in their behavior. They not only provide rescue services to the victim but also dispersed the crowed with patience. After few minutes Edhi Ambulance also reached there.
Rescue 1122 is serving the people of Gujrat as well as people of other cities of Punjab in emergencies in a very good manner.

We should take utmost care while biking especially young bikers should avoid speed thrilling, wheeling and other stunts with their bikes as it may be fatal in some cases. We should also wear a safety helmet while biking.

Gujrat is situated on the bank of Chenab River, situated about 120 kilometres (75 mi) north of Lahore, the capital city of Punjab province, and 150 kilometres (93 mi) from Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. Prominent nearby locations include Jalalpur Jattan,Jhelum,Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Lalamusa and Bhimber-Azad Kashmir. The city is surrounded by many villages and towns, which supply significant labour to the local market.

The city has a moderate climate. During the peak of summer, the daytime temperature shoots up to 45 °C (113 °F), but the hot spells are relatively short due to the proximity of the Azad Kashmir Mountains. During the winter, the minimum temperature may fall below 2 °C (36 °F). The average rainfall at Gujrat is 67 centimetres (26 in)

Gujarat University to start 12 new medical courses

Most of the courses will be taught in the evening, thus helping students to obtain an additional degree or diploma while studying for major programme

GU Vice-Chancellor Parimal Trivedi

Gujarat University has introduced 12 new medical courses in view of increase in demand for medical and paramedical courses. Two of them are certificate courses while the rest are diploma courses.

The courses which will start from the second week of June will be held at Civil Hospital, U N Mehta Hospital, Kidney hospital and Cancer Hospital.

Gujarat University Vice-Chancellor Parimal Trivedi claimed that this is for the first time that so many courses have been introduced simultaneously.

Some of the new courses to be introduced are anesthesiologist assistant, neurology Assistants, CT scan and MRI technician, operation theater technician, physician assistant, electroencephalography, operation theatre manager, eco-cardiologist, kidney dialysis, medical radio therapy technician, medical lab technician, oncology nursing.

“Most of the courses will be taught in the evening. Thus helping students to get an additional degree or diploma while taking up a major programme. Employed persons will also benefit from this” Trivedi said.

“The fee for diploma course has been fixed Rs 15,000 and for certificate course Rs 10,000,” he added.

How to End a Short Term Relationship

Have you just started a new relationship and you are already questioning it ?

Here are the few steps you need to follow if you already want to get out of this new relationship

1.Sometimes you start a relationship and you start wondering how you ever got here in the first place. Obvioiusly if you have started dating someone, there must have been reasons for you to get involved : a certain physical attraction, nice moments you spent with this person, and then a kiss, which defines the moment you started a relationship.

2.But here you are, a few days or even weeks into this new relationship and you don't feel comfortable in it. You've already reached the point where you're trying to figure out how to get out of it while not hurting your new partner too much.

3.First thing first : try to make sure you do not want to pursue the relationship. No point in telling your partner you don't feel like going on if you're going to come back begging a few days later. So give yourself a little bit of time to be sure of your feeling.

4.Have you had an argument and are you mad at him/her ? Sometimes people can surprise you and you discover things about them you wouldn't have imagined in the first place. Are those differences incompatible with the way you picture a happy relationship ? If they are, then yes,there is no reason in getting more involved. If these bad feelings have a specific reason, maybe it would be good to talk about it to your partner.

5.But more importantly just trust your feeling because this is the easiest clue to your new relationship's future.If you haven't been together long and you're already bored, less attracted, even annoyed, or if you've realized this is more about friendship than possible love, don't lure yourself into thinking "you can make it work". You won't overcome your first feelings. Trust yourself.

6.How to end a short-term relationship ? Well the same way you would end any relationship.Be honest and straigt-forward. Don't give false excuses but just tell the truth. Il may not be easy because you may fear that your partner won't understant your reasons (after all you don't know him that well) ; but all this is not about rational reasons. It is only about the way you feel. And if you feel there is no chance in this relationship don't apologize for it. You can't make your feelings go away just by listening to apparently sound reasons. Wa have all at some point, left someone who tried to talk us out of it by pointing out the efforts he/she was going to make to adapt to what we wanted. But if someone has to change in the first place so that a relationship could work out, it is definitely a huge sign that you are not meant for each-other. So stand your ground. It's the best you can do for this person, even if he/she can't see it right now. And it's certainly the best you can do for yourself.

7.The last step : and of course as with any relationship, even if you haven't been together a long time, don't think you can go back to a normal friendship straight away. It IS probably the biggest lie we like to tell ourselves to apease the pain that breaking up implies. But give yourselves some time apart to learn how to be together again in a non-sentimental way. If the relationship was short it won't take as long as it might have with a longer one.

Tips
One thing ending a short-term relationship can bring you is to analyze the reasons why you chose to start a relationship with this particular person in the first place. Analyse the circumstances and why you obviously made a mistake because this will give you some indications about what not to do in the future.

Historical Places in Gujrat

Many historical places, forts, mosques, castles, buildings, roads, towns are in Gujrat. Some of the famous historical places, found in Gujrat are as under:

Four Main Gates of Old Gujrat:

Gujrat city was constructed in the form of a fort and it had four gates to enter in the city of Gujrat. It was called main Gujrat and now a days it is in the center of Gujrat.

Main Gates of gujrat are:

Shah Daula Gate (Shahdaula Darwaza) in East side of Gujrat
Dhakki Gate (Dhaki Darwaza) in West side of Gujrat
Sheeshiyan Wala Gate (Shishianwala Darwaza) in North side of Gujrat
Shah Faisal Gate (Shah Faisal Darwaza) in South side of Gujrat

These doors/ gates of Gujrat were kept closed in night and in the time of any enemy attack. Above mentioned all four gates are still present, but in very miserable condition. Government of Pakistan and Archeological Department of Punjab Government should take some serious steps to preserve these historical gates in their original shape and design.

It is also said that there were also four small gates of Gujrat.

Gujrat Fort:

Gujrat fort was constructed by Mughal Emperor Jalal ul Din Muhammad Akbar in 1596~97. It is the symbol of Mughal Architecture in Gujrat. It is present in the center of Gujrat City. It was built on a heap to make it prominent and secure.

Baouli Well:

It was a type of deep well which had stairs to go down. Emperor Akbar constructed it near the main building of Gujrat Fort. But with the passage of time it was ruined. It is still present in its demolished state.

Akbari Hammam (Akbar’s Bath):

Royal Hakeems (Doctors) of Akbar suggested the treatment of a disease of Akbar’s wife in a special type of Bath Room. So this special type of Bath Room was built in Gujrat near Gujrat Fort for the Treatment of Akbar’s Wife. Many people still takes bath in this Akbari Hammam to get rid of their many diseases.

There are many other notable ancient buildings in Gujrat City and other towns and villages of Gujrat District.

Ancient Graves in Gujrat

It is believed and argued by many archeologists and historians that the area of Gujrat is from ancient times. This area is present since the times of Adam and Eva (Hadhrat Adam and Hadhrat Hava). It is also said that after Toofan-e-Nooh (Tsunami of Nuh), the area of Himaliya Mountainsand Kashmir is the first place which came out from water. As the Gujrat is a neighbor district of Kashmir, so it has also very old civilization.

There are graves of different Messengers of Allah, sons of Messengers of Allah and other saints of Islam (Sufis) are found in Gujrat. Some of them are as follows:

Grave of Hadhrat Qanoot (Kanoot): It is the longest grave found in Gujrat. Its length is 70 yards. But its length varied from time to time. Every year, on Urs the length is measured which sometimes is less than 70 yards and sometimes more than 70 yards. This grave is situated in an boundary village of Gujrat, Barrila Sharif. Hadhrat Qanoot was the son of Hadhrat Adam (a.s.) but some people also told that he was the son of Hadhrat Nuh (a.s.)
Grave of Naqeeb Toosh is in Mota Village of Gujrat. AndGrave of Sultan Qainoosh in Manawar Village of Gujrat. They were sons of Hadhrat Yusaf (a.s.).
Grave of Filsanosh in Chhamb and grave of Salwadosh in Deva village of Gujrat. They are the sons of Hadhrat Daoud (a.s.).
Grave of grandson of Hadhrat Yousaf (a.s.) in Shaikh Choghani (Chogani) Gujrat.
There are many other graves, tombs and shrines in Gujrat.

Several books on this topic has been written and published.

Haji M. Zaman Khokhar Advocate has done a lot of research on these ancient graves and wrote a number of books on this topic. He has done tremendous work in this manner.

Although Gujrat is comparatively a small City Of Pakistan but it has many Super Markets, Multistory Plazas, Very Good Shopping Centers and traditional Bazaars.
Aleena Shopping Center and Restaurant (Bhimber Road), Pace(Servis More), Serwar Gold Plaza (Kuchehary Road) are the most famous shopping places in Gujrat city. However their are many other good shopping centers in Gujrat. Sethi Leather House (Chowk Khawajgaan) and Raja Garments (Gohar Plaza, GTS Chowk) are very famous amongst the youth of Gujrat and surroundings for the shopping of Garments.
There are two main Bazaars in Gujrat; Muslim Bazaar (Nawabzada Chowk to Timbal Chowk) and Madina Bazaar (Staff Gala).
Urdu Bazaar of Gujrat is situated in the Municipal Committee Market ofGujrat near Nawabzada Chowk.

Kharian, Gujrat, Pakistan

Kharian city is a tehsil of District Gujrat. It is located on GT Road 10 miles from Jhelum and 20 miles from Gujrat. It has population of about 100,000 people. Total area of Kharian is 1154 km².

Kharian Cantonment was built during Britain Rule and at that time it was the 2^nd largest Army Base (Cantonment). CMH (CombinedMilitary Hospital) Kharian is a landmark of Kharian. It is very big medical facility of Pakistan. Jutt, Gujar and Rajput are prominent families of Kharian.

Lalamusa is a big town of District Gujrat. Lala Musa is named after a person Musa while Lala means Big Brother.

Sarai Alamgir is a Tehsil (sub-division) of Gujrat District. Sara i Alamgir is situated on eastern bank of Jhelum river. Sarai Alamgir is also located on GT Road as both other tehsils (Gujrat and Kharian) of Gujrat district are on the same road. It is just few kilometers away fromJhelum city, which is also a district level city.

Military College Jhelum is also in Sarai Alamgir and is a landmark of Sarai Alamgir.

Its population is more than 200,000 persons and its area is about 575 km².

History of Dinga:
Dinga is a town of Tehsil Kharian and District Gujrat. Dinga was established in 16th century. Dinga is named after “Ding” which is a sub-caste of Gujar.
Population of this town is about 50,000. There is also a Sikh Shrine,Nanak Sar Gurdwara from the pre-partition time.
It has a park, Fatima Jinnah Children Park, Dinga.

Transportation:
Dinga is 135 km from Islamabad, 130 km from Lahore, 25 km from Kharian and 20 km from Gujrat. Lalamusa- Sargodha Railway track also passes from Dinga, and Dinga has also a mini railway station.
