Purchase a hemp cord in a needlwork store. As for the patterns, you can buy pattern books from needlework stores or download patterns on the internet.
2. Make a loop by bending the cord and aligning its ends side-by-side.
3. Place the loop on top of the pencil. The pencil should be an inch below the loop’s tip.
4. Fold the loop’s top part, covering the pencil.
5. Slide the cord’s ends through the loop simultaneously. Tug the ends until you create the larkshead knot.
6. Take one of the cord’s ends, preferably a foot away from the larkshead knot, and loop it on your thumb.
7. Loop the cord on your pinkie, which starts a series of web loops.
8. Loop the cord on both your thumb and pinkie alternately until you reach the cord’s end.
9. Bundle the loops together by tying them with a rubber band.
10. Repeat steps 6 to 9 for the cord’s other end.
11. Place the right cord over the left.
12. Align both ends together, which forms a heart shape.
13. Pull the ends to create a square knot.
14. Repeat steps 11 to 13, only this time it should go left over right. Alternate the sides going on top when making successive square knots.
15. Continue creating square knots until you finish the bracelet.

If you want to create an alternate pattern, which is composed of granny knots, follow the same procedure when making a square knot. However, instead of alternating the sides going on top (step 14), use the same side for making the succession of knots.

Silver Ankles

Finely crafted silver anklets are always preferred by women. Intricate and detailed figures and shapes can make these pieces quite stunning.

Those engraved with floral or animal images made from crystals, semi precious stones, glass or plastic beads are also very popular and charming to the eyes. Sterling silver anklets are always in demand as they can give you a dignified look and do not tarnish. Thin ones which are oxidized can give an ethnic look to the wearer. The perfect finishing done by the talented artisans further beautifies the piece and this skill is honed over many years. They can go well with any occasion be it a casual or formal one. These beautiful anklets can give you a traditional look and are well suited for any age group. Despite the changing fashion trends, silver anklets never lose their popularity. Shopkeepers claim that they are always in their best selling ranges and are available at very affordable rates.
Silver is supposed to represent justice and purity and has been used down the centuries. Once silversmiths had mastered the skill of forging intricate shapes in an efficient and accurate way, there have been many masterpieces created in this metal. The color itself, unlike gold can almost be teamed up with any other color and offers the much more scope and options when combining it into jewelry. Some silver anklets, like charm bracelets, can have pieces added to them as time goes by. People can start with a plain chain and gradually add more charms as and when they can afford it. These charms can vary in size and significance and can be made to represent personal mile stones and achievements. They also have a special significance to many people, like a chapter in their life. There are no restrictions or rules with this type of body accoutrement. Some are made to be very lightweight and are of fine workmanship, whilst others are hand crafted into very elaborate and heavy works of art. In the olden days they were a measure of a person’s wealth and status in a community, long before the days of money. There are all kinds of designs from different civilizations with specific cultural themes. Aztec and Inca anklets have been found in many burial sites in Mexico and Peru respectively. Some of these fine specimens are unique and usually belonged to royalty or nobility. In nearly every ancient civilization, the silver anklet has been a major part of body decoration. The ancient Celts were another race that placed great emphasis on this commodity although there are various schools of thought as to whether they were merely used for decorative purposes or had more intrinsic and spiritual meanings.

Elephant Hair Bracelet Video

Both metals are share the tendency to oxidize or tarnish when they interaction with the air. Frequently cleaning of the jewelry will restore the beauty and originality. Choosing the right materials and applying a gentle touch will make your jewelry pieces look their best with only a little effort.

Here's the directions that we can follow:

1 - Wash the jewelry in soap and water before polishing. Oxidation will make darkening to the jewelry, sometimes plain old dirt plays a part as well. In order to polish as little as possible, make sure you have removed everything that doesn't need chemical treatment.

2 - Use rag and roughly the size of a fingerprint with a small amount of polish. Gently, rub all over the surface of the jewelry and let it to dry. Using a clean rag, rub away dried polish gently.

3 - Address streaking or other problems with an additional coat of polish and attention to troublesome detail. Heavy oxidation streaking on flat surfaces can be diminished by gentle rubbing with your old toothbrush. Be prepared to apply this strategy more than once; hard scrubbing, even with a soft brush, can scratch surfaces or bend soft metal.

For a special problems, we can use brush, wooden toothpicks and visual sense to handle heavily incised pieces. After surface polishing, those details are still heavily black. Gently use brush or toothpicks to work a little polish into the incised areas, and use the clean brush or more toothpicks to remove the oxidation after the polish dries.

Don't forget the back side of your piece of jewelry. Oxidation creeps like moss--your polishing job will last longer if we remove it from the back of the piece, too. Remember also that our skin is a source of oxidation. Any piece of jewelry worn touching the skin needs to be protected both from the air and the wearer.

Making Jewelry with Ribbon

If you would like to create jewelry from the simple to the sublime, try making jewelry with ribbon. Making jewelry using ribbons is easy enough that your kids can try their hands at it while you fashion your own beautiful pieces.

Making Jewelry with Ribbon
If you want to make a simple, elegant statement, you can cut a piece of velvet ribbon and tie it around your neck as a choker. You can place the bow on the front or on the back of your neck. What could be easier?

Your children can make their own bracelets, perhaps with a little assistance from you. Cut pieces of ribbon about two inches longer than their wrists. Fold the ends down about a half inch and glue. Then cut Velcro strips and glue them onto the ends. From there, the sky is the limit! You can glue buttons, yarn, glitter or bows onto the ribbons for decoration.

Why not make matching necklaces, bracelets and earrings? You can use pearls, pendants and beads on sheer ribbon. You will need needle nose pliers to finish the jewelry, scissors and perhaps, a beading needle. The hardest part about making this type of jewelry is choosing the types of clasps that you would like to use. If the holes in your beads or pearls are particularly small, roll the ribbon to a point and use it as if it were a needle. An advantage of using beads or pearls with small holes is that they will stay in place along the ribbon. Otherwise, plan on using your beads as “pendants” or try wider ribbons in your project.

Another idea is to create braided jewelry. In this scenario, make sure that the ribbon that you use is wider than the holes of your beads or pearls so that they will stay in place. You simply place your beads or pearls on three strands of ribbon and then loosely weave the ribbons together to your taste. Put on your findings and you are done!

If you have some silver or gold plated chain necklaces or bracelets and would like to jazz them up, you can make your own ribbon jewelry chain. Weave a silk ribbon with the color of your choice through the chain. If you choose, you can end with a pretty little bow.

Friendship Bracelets Making

Well if you are wondering how to make a super quality friendship bracelet for that one special friend that has always been by your side, this is the article you are going to want to read. I have been making bracelets of regular embroidery string for years. There are many books and instruction guides for making the simplest kinds of bracelets. There are so many bracelet designs, it’s hard to find which one you want to learn or know where to begin. I have inserted a video to this article for those of you who are visual learners.

Lets get started. Start with about three pieces of different colored string. Line them up evenly and cut them about two feet long. Let us say that you, have a red, yellow, and blue string. This way it is easier to tell them apart. This pattern is the basis of all of the friendship bracelets.

1. Tie a knot at the top of the three strings, leaving about an inch and a half to use as the end to tie a knot with. So you should have three pieces of string tied together.

2. Now take whatever colored string you want to use first in the bracelet. Let’s say that it is the red string and make a large loop on top of the other two strings. It should look like a backwards D or P over the other two strings.

3. Take the end of the red string, fold the end underneath the yellow and blue strings and up into the backwards D or P. It should be the red string in a loop around the other strings.

4. Now pull it tight against the top knot. You will need a clasp of some sort in order to keep the top of the bracelet in place while you pull the knots into place.

5. Once you have that first small knot at the top, repeat steps two through four according to the diagram.

You need to tie about twenty knots in order to get a good bar of red along your bracelet. Now remember this; if you have twenty knots in a bar of red, you need to have twenty knots of yellow in the yellow bar to make the even length of the red bar on the bracelet; the same with the blue.

When you start having more and more knots of a certain bar’s color, the knots will make the string start to twist and it will look like a wrap going around the bracelet, don’t worry, that’s supposed to happen.

Your bracelet will be bars of red, yellow, and blue all the way down. In order to measure how long you should make it, in order to fit your wrist, or your ankle if you want, just wrap the bracelet around your wrist or ankle to measure how many more bars of the colors you need in order to finish the right length of the bracelet. Tie a knot at the end of the last bar of red, yellow, or blue, just like you did at the top. You should have about an inch and a half to two inches left. Tie the two ends together and there you go.

Hemp Jewelry - Making Hemp Necklace

Hemp necklaces are really easy to make. This hemp necklace is approximately 16 inches long, so you could make it shorter or longer to suit your needs. I like to safety pin the end of my necklace to my pants while I'm tying the knots. It makes it easier, but you could also tape it down to any surface.

What you'll need for this hemp neclace:

Hemp -8 yards
Beads -This pattern uses 6 beads, 4 of one color and 2 of another color.
Tape or safety pin

Instructions to make hemp necklace

1. Cut two pieces of hemp. One 5 1/2 yards long and one 2 1/2 yards long. Fold them in half and make a closure loop. To make a closure loop, tie all cords together with an overhand knot, leaving a loop just large enough for a bead to go through. You'll begin tying the knots just below the overhand knot. You'll also tie the outer, longer threads around the inner two shorter cords.

2. Tie 2 1/2 inches of square knots.

To make a square knot, take the left cord over the center cords and under the right cord. Then take the right cord under the center cords and over the left cord. Tighten, then do the same thing again but alternate what cord goes over the center cords. Tighten again.

3. Tie 3 inches of half knot-twists.

To make half knot-twists, take the left cord over the center cords and under the right cord. Then take the right cord under the center cords and over the left cord. Tighten. Then do the exact same thing over and over. Do not alternate which side goes over the center cords.

4. Tie 3 whole square knots.

5. Slide a bead (color 1) on the center cords, and then tie 2 whole square knots.

6. Slide another bead (color 2) on the center cords, and then tie 2 whole square knots.

7. Tie 1/2 inch of half knot-twists, and then add another bead (color 1).

8. Repeat the mirrored design on the other side.

9. Then add a closure bead.

To make a closure bead, slide all four cords through a bead (color 1). If all the cords don't fit, then tie the last knot really tight and cut one of two of the inner cords. After threading the bead on, tie an overhand knot to hold the bead on tightly against the knots. Cut the cords off about 1/2 inch after the knot and leave as fringe.

Tips Cleaning Silver Jewelry

Rinse with cool water.

Count your pieces as you lay them on a towel to dry.

How to tell real 925 sterling silver from fakes

Firstly, I want to say that all my sterling silver items are real 925 sterling silverthat is, composition of 92.5% pure silver and the remaining 7.5% alloy; Usually the alloy will be copper. You can feel confident to buy them. Our company has a strong customer base through out the globe and is well known for quality products.

Maybe you have been troubled by some supposed “silvers” items actually contain no silver at all. Such as the German silver and nickel silver, they are just the names for alloys that look like silver but have no silver content. Our sterling silver is guaranteed. If you purchase any imitated items from 8season, please feel free to contact us. We will compensate you with times of item values.

Here are several tips for testing the sterling silver.

1.The simple and the first line test is a piece of magnet. Put a sterling silver item close to the magnet, if the magnet is attracted, it is not silver.

2.To test silver content, you can place a drop of silver reagent on a notch in the metal. Pure silver will turn bright red, while sterling will turn much darker red. Silver 800 will turn brown, 500 silver will turn green.

3.Add a drop of nitric acid also can test the sterling silver easily. Silver-plated; nickel silver or low quality silver alloys will turn green because of the high copper content, while the sterling will turn a creamy color.

But be aware of the risk of handling the above chemicals, it is toxic and dangerous.

Tips and Warning While Working With Silver
