I couldn't see it at that time. But somewhere locked away in the depth of my soul existed the spark. The flicker of light that would change everything. All I had to do is to find it.

Those footsteps they define your destiny. We are always one decision away from a new path, with new experiences, new beliefs, new identity. One decision away from a totally different life.

It's almost unclear that all the days leading up to now, everything we knew ourselves to be can be discarded and left with one swing of an exe gone. What is more miraculous than that? We live at the intersection of two imaginary worlds. Right the past and the future. The past is gone and essentially meaningless. Yet as the provider of our identity it still rules over us.

Our sense of who we are comes from our collection of past memories. That imaginary world of yesterday like the elephant tied to the chair with the rope. It hasn't realized, It's strong enough to break free. It doesn't know that what can find him is not the rope but acceptance of a lie.

And that's with the past. That's what identity is a lie. We are not yesterday. We are right now. And from the minor things to the significant things we get wrapped up in that lie. We overlook the gift of control we have over our future.

What does it mean to say I'm not a morning person, that in your past you had not conditioned yourself to wake up early. What does it mean to say Oh I let people walk all over me, that in your past you didn't stand up for yourself. What does it mean to say I'm awkward or shy or I struggle with writing or running or public speaking. So maybe you did. But what does that have to do with right now? What does that have to do with realizing the control you have over your life? Because simply realizing you can disconnect from these narratives that they are not you is the superpower. Realizing that calling yourself a bad student because you failed a test was like never taking off your raincoat because it rained yesterday. Once you realize that right now is the beginning of the rest of your life. You can start making little changes.

Identify not who you were but who you would love to be and move towards it.

Read the power of habit and atomic habit so you can understand that change isn't crazy or big or scary. It's moving little things in your life around. So that they work for you, not against you.

Start waking up and thinking about not what has happened but what can happen.

Not what can go wrong but what can go right. You are always one decision away from a totally different life. Because you are always one decision away from change from walking away from the narratives that you have accepted. But remember it not just when things are fine but remember it when you're struggling, when you feel restless or uneasy, unsure, uninspired, sad, angry, not content with the reflection in the mirror.

You are always one decision away from a totally different life and that decision should be first and foremost to choose future over past. Your next step over the last one choose your ideal world and start building it.

“If you care about what people think about you, you will end up being their slave. I've always been fascinated by this question because It's a simple reminder of what's important. It brings much needed perspective.

So, what would that moment look like your last day? when you look back on everything you've done. You most likely won't focus on how tough the climbs were. You probably won't remember the battles and the struggles. And you'll remember the moments of victory. The times when you're able to do something significant and to help and to be near those who mean the most to you.

What we learn as we get older, as we progress through life is that failures dissolve. Right they fade away. They provide us with the wisdom that we so desperately need and then they disappear into the universe.

It's the other piece that needs our attention that quote we've heard a million times about regretting the things that we don't do more than the things we do. And how fear constantly gets in the way of our potential.

So imagine you continue this walk outside. Do you think about your dreams? The things that fear kept you from becoming? Because on your last day alive in the face of death. You'll probably realize that the worst scenario wasn't as scary as you thought.

Study after study shows that the biggest regret of people with limited time left is living according to the expectations of others, not having lived a life that was due to themselves. We're fortunate enough to have that wisdom now. Why would we not act on it?

Don't let yourself be the person who looks back and dreams about what if. Do your dreaming in the present. We are all writing our stories, make yours a thriller.

Make it a best seller, live now. Let that fear fade away. Because in a universe where your existence is like a drop of rain in a thunderstorm. What the hell is there to be afraid of?

Be the type of person who finishes this walk outside with a smile content, with a journey that all turns the adventures. One chance to do this thing right.

Younger me when you wake up, be thankful for the shoes on your feet, the house you live in, the life you lead because if all you do is focus on what you don't have or the next milestone, happiness becomes a mirage.

Younger me the world as you know it isn't something that was that thing to be. No one will hand you the sky, earn excellence everyday it's there I promise.

Younger me Don't get distracted by the small stuff, the little things, that so easily consume our energy and emotions. Everything else washes away.

Younger me you didn't have all the answers but somehow you were exactly what I needed you to be. The risks aren't taken until you've experienced regret that confidence isn't acquired if you don't learn to play the student. And most importantly if you don't allow yourself to get lost, you will never discover who you truly are.

Twenty years from now when we meet again younger me, i know you'll do the same. I know you look giving me everything I needed. Nothing more and nothing less because time goes by quickly and we only get one opportunity to do this dance. One chance to make this right and I promise you younger me that It won't be wasted.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the most dangerous word in your vocabulary. Because while it's a symbol for hope, It can just as easily be the reason that your dreams remain little images in your head. Tomorrow declines the significance of the air that you're breathing right now. It tells you that someday you can begin your journey. And that you can just wait and make yourself comfortable until then. Tomorrow hides itself as an escape for those held down by fear, those resistant to change. It encourages you to be content where you are.Stating that you have your whole life to get where you want to be. And for some, tomorrow lasts forever.

It evolves into regret, into a mobility, into an excuse to never really do what you were meant to do. Tomorrow can be worse than failing. Because often it implies that there was never a beginning. There was just a vision. Just an idea being put off for a better time that never came. There will never be a moment in your life, more precious than the one you're living in. Your heart beating in your chest, the air in your lungs, the blood in your veins. They're giving you an opportunity to make a change. To become who you want to become, to live, to inspire, to achieve. Because who really knows how many tomorrow's you will get?

And the last thing you want is to look back in your life, thousand of days from now. In wish you had the courage to do what you wanted to do. To wish that you understood, how fast tomorrow's come and go. And that all you will ever have is the present moment. Every journey starts with a step. That courageous act of moving forward, not knowing, what tomorrow will bring. Only knowing that you'll be further along then, than you are now. That you'll be stronger, wiser, smarter. Because you didn't wait for tomorrow. You didn't wait for anything. And that is the difference between I am and I wish I was. It is the difference between dreaming and truly living.

Your hand can seize today, but not tomorrow; and thoughts of your tomorrow are nothing but desire.

                                                                                             OMAR KHAYYAM

You Are What You Believe

You Are What You Believe

Your eyes do not create, they obey. They are projectors that play the stories your mind has written, messengers delivering pictures you have already painted. You win or lose long before they open. Your paint by number and when you can only see the things you don't want to see, when negativity forced you and attempts to hold you in place. Realize that you are letting the wrong info in subscribing to what doesn't serve you, so simply change the channel, step back and look again one more time because you are the author of your own story, so see it as you want to and live it on your own terms.

"Nothing can dim the light that shines from within."

_MAYA ANGELOU
