Expect to lose 4-12 pounds in the first two weeks. That includes fluid loss. In the following weeks, weight loss will be closer to 2 pounds per week, similar to accepted weight loss guidelines.
Step two advises you to slowly add back foods into your diet and observe for signs of tolerance.
And finally in step three, yoga, cardiovascular and strength training exercise are included for strength, vigor, and emotional balance.

Hormones' Role in Weight Loss
A study scheduled to appear in the November issue of Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism shows that levels of appetite hormones prior to dieting may predict weight gain after dieting. But Turner goes beyond appetite, hunger, and diet-related hormones to suggest that the entire endocrine system affects your weight.
According to Turner, weight loss is directly associated with all of your body’s hormones. “Hormones dictate every aspect of weight loss, from appetite cravings to how well you burn and where you store fat, yet 80% to 90% of adults are hormonally imbalanced,” Turner says.
Pamela Peeke, MD, a diet and fitness expert who blogs for WebMD, adamantly disagrees with the overall hormone concept of the book. “This is absolutely not a credible statement, nor can it be scientifically proven, because hormones are always in a constant state of dynamic flux and to indicate that all weight is linked to hormones and most adults are imbalanced is meaningless,” Peeke says.

The Hormone Diet: What You Can Eat
The Hormone Diet promotes a clean, natural, preferably organic diet of foods free of preservatives and processed foods.
Surprisingly, only a small portion of the 471-page book is devoted to the diet. The bulk of the book is quite complicated -- more like a text book, and deals with a whole host of issues about wellness, living longer, exercise, sleep, sex, and hormones.
Foods allowed in the detox phase are gluten-free grains, vegetables (except corn), fruits (except citrus, canned, and dried), nuts, seeds, fish, meat, feta or goat cheese, olive, avocado, flaxseed and canola oils, eggs, nondairy milk, and soy products -- that’s it.
Turner also recommends lots of supplements, including a probiotic supplement, herbal cleansing formula, bowel-cleansing formula with fiber and omega 3 fish oil during detox.
The diet includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and seafood, as well as a limited amount of dairy products and whole grains.
The book is organized into daily menu plans with recipes and nutritional analysis so you can determine your exact nutrient intake. Anyone watching sodium intake should be careful, as many of the recipes are high in sodium.
All the recommended foods are readily available, and there are no gimmicks or strange food combination, even though Fischer served as the associate medical director at the Atkins Center for years. Dieters are told to forego sweets, artificial sweeteners, alcohol, fruit juice, and milk (except skim in coffee or tea). There are a few dessert recipes that can be enjoyed on occasion, but for the most part, dieters will need to satisfy any sweets cravings with the natural sweetness of fruit.
"We eliminate artificial sweeteners, sugar, and most sweets other than the few recipes included because, in my experience, sweet treats are like giving an alcoholic a drink, furthering the temptation for more," Fischer says.

The Morning Banana Diet / How it works

Different versions of the Morning Banana Diet tout varying explanations of exactly how bananas work to promote weight loss. One theory suggests that certain enzymes in bananas speed up digestion and elimination, causing rapid weight loss. However, the human body already contains all the enzymes needed for digestion. It's true that foods with fiber (and bananas have some) can go through the digestive system more quickly and may not be completely absorbed, thus saving a few calories. But the calorie savings are certainly not enough to revolutionize the weight loss industry.
Another theory centers on resistant starch, a type of fiber that is supposed to promote fullness and increase fat burning. Resistant starch is found naturally in carbohydrate foods such as green bananas, potatoes, grains, and beans -- but only when you eat them cold. It resists digestion in the small intestine, where most digestion occurs, and gets passed along to the large bowel.
Studies show that the indigestible fiber may block the conversion of some carbs, but even so, bananas contain only a small amount of fiber and resistant starch. Bananas have 2-4 grams of fiber; to be considered a "good" source, a food must have 3.5-4.9 grams of fiber per serving.
Bananas, along with most fruits have long been a part of healthy diets and weight loss plans. But while they are nutritious, they do not have special weight loss properties.

Eat Clean Diet

Foods allowed include a variety of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, nonfat dairy, and healthy fats -- preferably organic and eaten in proper portions every few hours.
According to the authors, the secret ingredient in the Flat Belly Diet that whittles away belly fat is the addition of a monounsaturated fat, or MUFA, at every meal. MUFAs are found in olives, avocados, nuts, seeds, dark chocolate, soybean, flax, and olive and sunflower oils.
"Research shows that MUFAs have health benefits and target belly fat. They also help control satiety, so by adding in one MUFA at meals and snacks it is easier to stick with the plan and lose belly fat," explains co-author Sass.
Before starting on the 28-day plan, dieters go on a 1,200- to 1400-calorie, four-day anti-bloat jump-start period designed to reduce bloating and get dieters in the mind-set of a healthier eating plan. During the jump-start, dieters drink 2 liters of daily "sassy water," a blend of spices, herbs, citrus, and cucumber. "We tested the diet plan on 11 volunteers and they told us the flavored water reduced bloating, constipation, helped them feel better and get rid of that sluggish feeling," explains Sass.

Body for Life

Body for Life is an intense exercise and nutrition program based on the premise that you're more likely to stick with a diet and workout if you see results quickly. Indeed, founder Bill Phillips makes this promise: Follow his program for 12 weeks and you'll have the best body you've ever had. The program is challenging. It involves training with weights for 45 minutes three days a week, then alternating with aerobic exercise for at least 20 minutes three days a week.

The diet involves eating six small meals each day for six days a week, drawing from a list of healthy foods such as lean meats, vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and fish. Meals are a combination of lean protein and healthy carbohydrates “to speed up fat loss and maintain stable energy levels”, stated on the Body for Life web site. On the seventh day, you rest -- free to eat anything you want, no restrictions, and take a day off from the rigorous workout.

Belly Fat Cure **

The Belly Fat Cure eating plan consists of protein, fats, and vegetables with small amounts of sugar and complex carbs. Processed foods with sweeteners (even artificial sweeteners) are out. Wine, beer, champagne, and dark chocolate are OK -- but not cocktails or candy bars.
Much of the book consists of colorful displays of more than 100 "belly bad" meals (mostly from fast food and casual restaurant chains) made over into "belly good" recipes that are featured in the meal plans. (However, the recipes contain no nutrition information other than the grams of sugar and servings of carbs they contain – not even a calorie count.)
Five different weeklong meal plans designed for various eating styles, from carb lovers to meat-eaters, provide a framework for the eating plan.
When in doubt, dieters can follow the "no-excuses day" plan:

Breakfast: 3 eggs, 2 slices buttered toast

Snack: Handful of walnuts

Lunch: Tuna salad on one piece pita bread

Snack: 1 cup cottage cheese with honey

Dinner: Grilled chicken or steak, sautéed veggies and 1/2 cup brown rice

Dieters are advised to drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. Most fresh fruits, and beverages such as skim milk and 100% fruit juice, are depicted as "belly bad."

Have FUN luzing weight !!!!

3. But don't think for a minute that french fries or sodas sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup are part of the plan. In fact, if you follow The Fast Food Diet plan, you won't get many unhealthy trans fats -- fried foods are not allowed.
For example, choose vinaigrette salad dressing instead of ranch for a savings of 130 calories. (Use less of the dressing and you save even more calories.) Order seltzer with lemon instead of a sweet soda, and you save 310 calories. It's a relatively mindless diet strategy that has reportedly helped half a million of Siegal’s patients lose weight.
The cookies contain select amino acids thought to suppress hunger, fiber, and other ingredients that digest slowly to help keep you feeling full. Eating 4-6 of the cookies a day will give you somewhere around 500 calories.
Dinners are simple: Lean protein and veggies, or a light frozen dinner and a salad. The dinners range from a low of 300 to a high of about 1,000 calories each, meaning the diet has a grand total of 800-1,500 calories per day.
Anyone following an 800-calorie per day plan is sure to lose weight, but medical supervision is recommended for people following very low-calorie diets (less than 1,200 per day), as they are likely to be deficient in nutrients. Most of the very low-calorie cookie diet plans recommend a daily multivitamin to fill in the nutritional gaps. (The self-administered cookie diet plans found online recommend higher levels, of 1,400 or more calories per day).
Siegal says his patients have no problems sticking to the 800-calorie limit, and usually drop about 15 pounds per month.
"One of the greatest motivators to sticking to a diet is when you manage hunger, decrease cravings, and watch the weight come off, and virtually everyone will lose weight at 800 calories," he says.

Water Diet H2O

One of the many diets out there is the water diet, and the good thing about this is that, besides water being so readily available to most people, and it being so cheap, this water diet complements other good diets that work well.
So, how much water do you need to drink? This diet encourages you to drink 64 fluid ounces of water every day, and it can be tap water, or bottled water, as long as it doesn’t have anything added to it and it is 50 degrees or cooler in temperature. The temperature of the water is an important factor here, because this is going to burn up some calories, not a lot, but hey, every calorie lost helps with that weight loss.
Now, the 64 ounces of water you need to drink should be taken over the course of a day, not all at once, so that equates to 8 glasses of water if the glass is an 8 ounce size. Now, an eight ounce glass is just one cup or half a pint, or 250 ml, which isn’t a great amount, but how this water diet works is that because the water is cold, remember it is 50 degrees Fahrenheit or colder, and the body is normally 98.6 degrees, then the body has to work to raise the temperature of the water so that it reaches the same temperature as the rest of the body. In doing this, the body uses energy, and if the rest of your diet doesn’t change at all, then you have just used up some calories that you will not replace. In other words, you have lost weight. Now do be aware that it takes about 12 calories to raise the temperature of 2 cups of water, so we are not talking about a huge number of calories here, but every few help, right?
On the other hand, maybe you could cut out that extra cookie, or walk an extra block every day, and you will use up more energy, but this water diet can be used along with other diets designed to lose weight, and as water is always said to be good for you anyway, it certainly shouldn’t hurt you.
So, if you are planning to lose weight, or you already are on a diet program, then you could add in the water diet and see whether it makes a difference to your weight loss, or to how you are feeling.

Eat to live - or live to eat

Diet starts first in your head. use your will power and self controll on the quanity and quality of food you eat!

Diet

At Food and Diet we understand the need to keep variety in your menu regardless of your weight loss plan or lifestyle.
