Readers of prestigious German car magazine “Sport Auto” have voted the New Lotus Elise (MY2011) and the Exige S as the “Most Sporty Car” in their respective categories in the magazine’s 2010 awards. Stable-mates the Elise SC MY2011 and the Evora also managed podium finishes.
The awards come just weeks after the brand new Lotus Elise MY2011 was launched to a strong reception from the media, many of whom chose to focus on the low emissions of just 149g CO2/km and the class leading fuel consumption. The Elise received an incredible 29.8 percent of the reader vote in the category of open sports cars up to €40,000, resulting in the sought after ‘Most Sporty Car’ title.
And it’s not only the Elise models that were acknowledged in the awards. The high performance, lightweight Exige S was also victorious in the category of Coupes up to €50,000. The Exige stole an even better percentage of the vote with 34 percent of all readers pushing it, placing it nearly 20 percent ahead of its nearest rival in the class.
Lotus cars were nominated in two further classes: Coupes up to €100,000, and Cabriolets up to €60,000. The Evora finished second in the Coupes up to €100,000, just missing out on the top spot by a fraction with the Elise SC coming in third in the Cabriolets category just 0.8 percent behind the second car.
Lotus Chief Commercial Officer, Andreas Prillmann, said: “The German market is one of our strongest worldwide so we are delighted to see that Lotus cars have been so successful among so many other well established and highly competitive manufacturers such as Audi, BMW and Porsche. The Lexus LFA coupe will be produced at the Motomachi plant in Toyota City. Toyota will make just 500 examples at rate of 20 units per month “to ensure the finest build quality and attention to detail.”

For such a small outfit and niche sports car maker the Surpasse V is a surprisingly good looking motor. Sure there are some elements which could do with attention - more specifically the sealed-beam headlight units which are crudely molded into the bodywork - but overall it's not a bad looking little sports car. Lots of people will point out the styling similarities with the Ferrari Enzo, and rightly so as there is obviously some Enzo influences in there. But at the same time it's clear this is not intended to be a replica, it just borrows a few shapes from one of the best supercars of all time.The monocoque chassis and the suspension is designed by Suzusho. The rear sub frame is bolt on and is easily replaceable. The Suppasse-V is the closest thing on the road that is equal to a competitive racing car which, can be seen at Le-mans and many other circuits.

The 3.0 TFSI is the new range-topping unit in Audi's V6 engine family. It Develope 333 horsepower and 324 lb-ft (440 Nm) of torque at 2,500 rpm, the engine is connected to either a standard six-speed manual gearbox, or an optional seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission which can be used either as a conventional automatic or as a sequential semi-auto with steering wheel mounted paddles.

The engine-driven Poly-V belt that powers the mechanical turbocharger provides full thrust right from idling speed. The 3.0 TFSI delivers its maximum 440 Nm (324.53 lb-ft) at only 2,900 rpm and maintains this constantly until 5,300 rpm. The intermediate sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (49.71 to 74.56 mph) is completed in fourth gear in 4.4 seconds; even in sixth gear it takes a mere 7.1 seconds.

The seven-speed S-tronic gearbox of the 2009 S4 consists of two separate transmissions and uses two multidisk clutches that control the various gears. The large K1 clutch guides the power via a solid shaft to the pinions for gears 1, 3, 5 and 7. A hollow shaft rotates around the solid shaft; it is connected to the compact K2 clutch, which is integrated within its larger counterpart and controls the pinions for gears 2, 4, 6 and reverse gear.
Both transmission structures are continuously active, but only one is powered at a time by the engine. The quattro all-wheel-drive system sends power to all four wheels. A 40/60 percent front/rear torque bias ensures that the handling remains sporty yet stable. However, when necessary, the power distribution can be varied within fractions of a second.

The gas paths after the supercharger are very short which is why the 3.0 TFSI builds up torque extremely quickly when accelerating, even more dynamically than a naturally aspirated engine of the same displacement. The 3.0 TFSI responds directly to the throttle in true sporty fashion, is agile and sprightly, revving up to the maximum of 7,000 rpm with playful ease.

The guys over at AutoCar have caught the upcoming Lotus Esprit testing in cold-snowy weather of Sweden. After running some DVLA records and matching the license plate, AutoCar has learned that the prototype is powered by a 4.4 liter V8 engine. Lotus sources have previously said that BMW may be the supplier for Lotus’ 2011 Esprit.It’s possible that the new Lotus Esprit will carry the 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 engine from the new BMW X6, but will most likely be tuned to develop 500 horsepower.Currently the 4.4 liter twin-turbo from V8 produces 400 horsepower. The engine is also expected to be used in other BMW models including the X5 and the 7-Series. Lotus engineers will most probably re-work the engine management to reach numbers closer the Nissan GT-R and the Porsche 911 Turbo.

The 2011 Elise will likely be built upon an evolved version of the current model’s extruded-aluminium underpinnings and continue the same formula that’s made the pint-sized sportscar a track day fave, but the Esprit will be a wholly different beast.

The timeline for the Esprit is also at the mercy of the global economic situation, with Lotus likely to delay the Esprit and forge ahead with a far less costly drop-top Evora if the recession persists much longer.
If it launches on time, the Esprit could be Lotus’ best hope of gaining a much larger share of the sports car market.

The engine is currently being used in the Lexus LF-A, a car that has not yet been launched itself. Being connected with the Japanese carmaker Toyota, Lotus has access to its entire range of parts and components, as well as powerplants from the Lexus line. A largely experimental process crystallised over a period of 24 months into an official new car programme, driven by the passion and enthusiasm of a small group of Bentley engineers and designers.

Powering the Continental Supersports is a twin-turbocharged, 6.0 litre W12 engine which is capable of running on either regular gasoline or E85 biofuel, or a mixture of both. Despite the flex fuel capability the Supersports engine produces a massive 621 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 800Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque @ 1,700 rpm - 5,600 rpm. This means the Continental Supersports can reach 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, 100 mph in 8.9 seconds, and top out at 204 mph.

As a celebration they have created an exhaust package for the Porsche Panamera Turbo.The PS9 package for the German sports saloon ups the ante with numerous aero add-ons and a bevy of performance upgrades. The Sport-Abgas system provides your Panamera with a more raw sound and twenty extra horses.

The Essen Motor Show, which runs from November 28 to December 6 and is best described as Europe’s answer to SEMA, will see Porsche tuning shop, SpeedART, revealing its take on the Panamera.

The kit brings the total output to 520bhp. The sprint of the 4.8 liter twin turbo V8 will probably be hit the 4.0 seconds. The first car from the new company, the McLaren MP4-12C, is a high performance two-seat mid-engine model in the 'core' sports car market segment for cars costing between £125,000 and £175,000.It goes on sale through a dedicated, worldwide retailer network in early 2011.
All the parts of the McLaren MP4-12C are bespoke and unique to this car. Everything from the engine right down to the tailor-made switches and buttons is pure McLaren: nothing has come from another manufacturer's parts bin.

The 12C is powered by a bespoke McLaren 'M838T' 3.8 litre, V8 twin-turbo engine producing around 600bhp, driving through a McLaren seven speed Seamless Shift dual clutch gearbox (SSG). It is targeting not only new standards for power and performance in its sector, but also class-leading fuel economy and CO2 emissions; supported by McLaren's experience of active aerodynamics to aid cooling, grip, handling and road holding.

"The 12C is all about performance," said Sheriff. "And in McLaren, we have a very broad definition of performance. We don't just look at the traditional one-dimensional parameters like top speed, we focus equally on useable measures such as in-gear acceleration times, braking performance in all conditions, and efficiency of power delivery combined with the lowest possible fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Sure, 12C is very fast, but it is also the most efficient, most driveable high-performance sports car in the world.
Thorough engineering and market research led to concept development and a clear decision in favour of a mid-engined two door high performance sports car. Intensive work was carried out in the wind tunnel and the driving simulator to ensure that the new car would inherently have superb dynamic qualities.
The McLaren MP4-12C design follows similar principles to McLaren's Formula 1 cars, and the legendary McLaren F1, where everything is for a reason and all lines, surfaces, and details are designed with a job in mind as much as styled. This ensures that the 12C communicates its engineering through its styling and will remain timeless as a piece of automotive design.
"By the time the 12C is launched in 2011 we expect the economic conditions to be much improved. We have already seen significant interest in the car and the supply of the 12C will be relatively scarce; in its first year we plan to produce just 1,000 cars which represents only 3.5 per cent of the 'core' market," explained Antony Sheriff.

The McLaren MP4-12C is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.8 litre 90° V8 engine - the 'M838T'. This marks the start of a new era in 'core' segment sports cars - smaller capacity, lighter weight, higher efficiency and more economical power units. The engine has the highest specific power output in its segment which, when allied to its low weight carbon composite chassis, delivers exemplary power- and torque-to-weight ratios.The McLaren engine revs to 8,500rpm, has quick transient throttle response and delivers its abundant torque throughout the rev range. A staggering 80 per cent of torque is available at below 2,000rpm, ensuring great driveability and no need to floor the throttle to deliver performance.
The McLaren MP4-12C has been designed around a demanding mechanical package that puts emphasis on aerodynamics, compact dimensions, performance and efficiency, practicality and comfort. Although the design of the 12C was driven by aerodynamics, it aims to remain contemporary and elegant throughout its lifetime as well as distinctive among its peers.
"The 12C design was therefore led by aerodynamics. At McLaren we have been able to use the Formula 1 techniques and the huge expertise that the company has amassed at the pinnacle of the sport," explained Stephenson.

Aerodynamic efficiency drove the 12C's design. High downforce helps maintain traction, cornering ability and stability while low drag aids top speed and acceleration. The B2 is the second supercar model to be produced by the Russian manufacturer Marussia. Following close on the heels of the Marussia B1 which was revealed only months earlier, the B2 is a dramatically styled supercar which was developed in-house by Marussia's design team based in Moscow. The car was first displayed at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, but these are the first pictures of the car outside of the motorshow surroundings.According to the main ideologist of creation of the first Russian Nikolay Fomenko's super car, its company is capable to develop almost any body for short enough term. It is interesting that in Frankfurt Fomenko has shown at once three cars – besides B2 at the stand there were two more models with body В1. By the end of 2010 the company hope to begin exports to both the US and UK shores. A racing version is also in the pipeline for late 2010.
Marussia has teased their new vehicle, the Marussia B2, for a Frankfurt premiere. The B1 was designed "in the style of a jet fighter," and looks like it uses rivets as styling points. The darkened photos are intriguing, to say the least.The car looks rather interestingly, and body panels are adjusted to each other aloud better, than on the pre-series sample. The interior of the presented cars is finished by a skin, and internal furnish, probably still will lead up to mind. According to Nikolay Fomenko, welding of power structure of a body is in general its pride.
The Russian company introduced their B1 Hybrid Supercar in their home country last year. The €100,000 car uses a 3.5-liter V6, the B1 debuted with everything from a plasma video screen, to a high-speed internet connection. The interior of the Marussia B1, which was developed through a collaboration between Italian and Russian designers, features a pair of reclining deeply-bolstered sports seats and a squared off three-spoke sports steering wheel. The displays are touch screen, but the functions can also be controlled with the help of a joystick mounted on the centre console.The whole interior can be upholstered in a variety of different colors and finishes to suit the owners tastes.
