As she shuttles between daylight and night

Her loom true

Patterns familiar, intricate

Woven into the fabric of her existence

Here, in this room

She has watched the light upon her delicate hands

Slowly caress the nimbleness of age

Outdoors through the window

Children circle the tree of life

Occupied with the earths patient caress

As the day closes

As the garments are placed just so on the chair

As she soothes her hands and spirit

Dreams of the recollection

Of the pattern

Of the pattern she weaves of time.

ARt League ceramics

Coming to the end of my first class at the art league, ceramics with Toni Rosenbaum. Very nice teacher, great demos and a very chill vibe, you can experiment and work at your own rate which is just right for me.

This week did an art fashion show in Patchogue which was nice but not well attended. I think they will learn and do this better next year.

I am starting to teach a class tomorrow at 5 towns college, I am a bit worried by ability to translate and teach what the kids are looking for will not be adequate.

Always the fear of failure. Always never quite good enough. I guess the life of an artist. It is a difficult life, but the ones who are so self confident, I rarely trust that.

This is my first post for my new residency at the Art League of Long Island.

I began my first ceramics class last week, it is a Tuesday morning/afternoon class and I am looking forward to getting back to work on my slab pieces I had worked on in the past.

this was the piece I created last week.
also this week I am taking a solarplate workshop with ChrisAnn Ambry and am looking forward to that on Wednesday.

Thursday Wendi and I are performing for the gala at Chashama at 1 world trade center. I am still painting the hats for this event and it will come down to the wire.

Long time no see................

This is a new monoprint created today.........first in a long while........I switched to ink instead of the water based mono prints I was doing before.......to get brighter and richer colors........there will be a bit of a learning curve but I will post as I go.........

Coasting through time

Catching a big wave

Riding the tube like a wormhole

Into a futuristic city

Everything is really clean

The air is super clean

There are a lot of floating vehicles

The fashion is retro Jetsons

It is an illusion of course

I see the poverty at the perimeter

It is a clear line

As If I were standing on a stage or something

It’s funny there are no people around today

Perhaps it is Sunday, and people are at the park

Eating brightly colored ice pops

And watching strawberries float in the sky

They are lighter than air by the way and disappear

Into the sun

Where they probably explode

Into the space between planets

We possess the ability to step into the timeline

Slow it down, speed it up

Dance upon the moment, the edge of the

The edge of the outer universe

I double down on reality

Amidst the pull

To floating again

While the song plays again, over and over

It is a sign

Impressions held to the cheek

So much further to go

Feels like an eternity

I am thinking of the listener

The cadence of the breath

We go as far as we can together

Sometimes we part sadly

Grass

I stop myself and look up

Stars spinning

I am spinning

Again I will find myself

As a red wind reveals black lines

Swirling there is the silhouette

A black cat

I embrace

The bare tree

Sounds of rustling leaves

Long dead crunching

I see myself

The storm is over

I am on my back

I think it is me

The sun through clouds

So that is like kind of hazy

You know what I mean?

Bright in a weird way

I close my eyes

And let go

When we release into it

We become free of the helmet of self restriction

This helmet locks us down

To hear the sound you have to let go of thoughts

So you can hear

It is not trying to listen, it is listening.

this is one of the "kraztoons" as a clay tablet. I have been working with sculpy lately, a oven harden clay, and thought of making a series of these panels incorporating words and images in black and white (for now).

This is a clay "memory box" another idea I have been working on.......

A new year....

I am really liking these clay pieces. It is an old idea I had but had the technical problem of the clay never hardening. This is made with Sculpy, which can be hardened in an oven. This one is around 8"x10".

This is a piece that I started a while back and am working on completing now. I had planned on working it up with blues to go with the series I am working on, but will hold onto the central figures in the warm colors I think. I am also thinking the light source will come from the center of the image and radiate out.

I have been thinking of adding perspective to the works. For the most part I try to keep the drawing intuitive and spontaneous, so this would be an interesting change.

My first Zine! 12 pages........I will hand it out New Years Eve at the Surrealist Ball, in NYC. I will post photos.

I will expand on this idea, it was my first attempt. I thought it would be better to print it at Staples, but will do this at home next time to keep costs down.

This is sculpy clay.........you are supposed to put it in the oven to cure it. I was not watching and now have a fried sculpy piece. I am attempting to fix this, stay tuned..........

new toons......I am going to make a small Zine of these pieces from December and hand them out at a new years event in NYC. It is called the Surrealist Ball and myself and Xaio Feng will be going dressed in the art clothes.....I will post photos.

Sculpy Clay

This is made from sculpy clay.......it is a throwback to the plastiline clay pieces I made a few years ago. The problem with the plastiline is that it never hardened........this stuff is more permanent. This piece is 3"x5" and was sold yesterday in the Schwick one day show before the holidays in Brooklyn.

moving along on this painting. I have been very distracted lately and seem to only focus on work for short bursts of time. I am working to get back to a regular routine to get things done around here.

I also have to find a way to be more productive in finding sales of my work or making contacts. This is my goal for the year..........anyway back to work I will post progress.

Next week I head down to art basel in Miami. I am showing in 2 spaces and will bring the art clothes to see what is going on there. My ideal would be to make a contact with a gallery in NY that would be into showing the paintings.

The idea is to walk around in the art jacket as much as possible........hand out cards meet people that kind of thing. Marketing.........

so I am messing around with a different way of painting.

I am thinking about consequences of my actions, as I have for the past couple of weeks. I have to rethink everything, I feel like I have been fooling myself for a while now and have to take stock.

It's weird how you can loose yourself so quickly.
