In the Hip Hop industry there are a lot of people who claim to be the next best thing out there! From Freestyle artist to Beat Producers, the level of self confidence is extremely high. This is for a good reason.

The ability of an MC to piece together not only a rhyme that sounds great, but to also have it make since with a story or a theme, with no time to write or rehearse, in fact with less then a second to think of, and place every word in its perfect position, is nothing short of a miracle. Often Freestyle MC’s are over looked for the more studio seasoned lyricist. What many people fail to realize is in order to create such works of art almost instantaneously is at the least on the level of Genius. Of coarse not all MC’s are great, but some are amazing.

The Composer, or Beat Producer as most know them, are another Genius breed. The Producer is able to manipulate sound waves to warp together and make magical musical compositions that flow so perfectly, that it almost seems as if the beat is born instead of created. Often their creation can take an unskillful lyricist or singer, and make their vocals sound a thousand times better. When the lyricist vocals are so bad that nothing can save them, then it is the beat that makes the song a hit.. in fact some beats are created so perfectly, that even a skillful lyricist can be seen as second in line to importance as the beat.

Now Both of these Masters of the Art Of Sound are Awesome in their own way, and when two of the great masters are placed together, then magic is created, and the world moves in unison to their creation.

With such gifts often comes the bragging and boosting. Many go their entire careers never really having a place to test their skill level. Testing of the skill level is not only important for the artist to know were they stand in their craft, but it also gives them a direction to push for. If you are never pushed to your limit then you will never try to push past it!

Many may ask, where can Masters of Sound go to test their skills? Well Conscious Mind Records Inc. and Presideum LLC, has the perfect place for them. “Hip Hops Ultimate Challenge”, or H.U.C for short, is a new series of shows starting on Friday October 12^th2012, and is set to be the main show and location for MC’s and Beat Producers around the world! It is a place for them to come and find out were they stand amongst their sisters and brothers in this field. The shows will consist of 8 MC’s and 8 Producers, going head to head pushing each others gifts to the limit. The MC’s will spit fiery poetic freestyle rhymes over the producers beats, and will be judged on their creativity, their ability to stay on subject, and their delivery. They will not be allowed to base their rhymes on dissing the opponent. This is a unifying event, not a destroying one. The Producers will be judged on the sound, creativity, and arrangement of their beats.

H.U.C will have 2 host. The lead host, Jawaan LaRue, is a seasoned veteran in the lyrical field. As an Artist signed to Conscious Mind Records, he has built himself a strong fan base stretching from The west coast to the east coast, and also over in parts of the U.K. LaRue is known for being a lyrical beast, freestyle or written.

In the first show we will have a guest host, Society’s Poet, or A.K.A SP. SP, a Conscious Mind Records artist, is a veteran also. She is mainly known for her mind stimulating poetry, and creation of the #1 rated Spoken Word poetry show in the U.S, “Spoken Word Revolution”, but also is known to rip the mic with songs that make you groove! SP is a walking Hip Hop history book, and can educate even some of the founders of the art on its history.

H.U.C will also have 3 Industry veterans as the Judges panel. Judge DJ Niecy-D, has been in the industry for a long time. She has been crowned as the Queen of all DJ’s, because she led the way for females in the industry to began rocking the turntables. She was the first female DJ out of New York and the first female DJ on the airwaves of Orlando’s 102 jams. She has rocked out with the group 95 south and is tied into almost all of the key figures in the Hip Hop industry. Her DJ ties can get your music played around the world with just a suggestion from her.

Next we have Judge Phraydoe Peans! Phraydoe is a pioneer of Hip Hop, especially in the Central Florida areas. When Hip Hop was almost completely given away to commercial music, and very few were willing to work with each other and help unsigned artist, Mr. Peans and his partner Dizzle Phunk, started “Soul Of Da City”. This show allowed for aspiring artist to come out and showcase their talents to the community, and quickly grew into the main place to go for artist not only from central Florida but also from all over Florida. Phraydoe, who is also a Lyrical Genius, is part of a revolutionary group called “The Family Gang” which has combined Hip Hop music, with a live band, a message , and straight up enjoying life. Peans and The Family Gang have rocked audience all over the place and have created Die Hard music fans who will go for days with no sleep just to get another chance to see them rock!!! Peans also has a series of wild videos called the “Planet Peans Series” Which has a strong fan base around the world.

The first month will have a Guest Judge, Judge Chico Star! Chico Star is veteran Beat Producer, who’s compositions has hit many great artist across the Hip Hop scene. His recent hit with Conscious Mind Records artist SoulJah Bless and Skyy High, “Babylon Beware”, has been rocking the nation! Two lyrical veterans, flowing on a magical sound wave, made an unbeatable hit! His beats are crafted in such a way, that you can almost see the sound waves moving through the air. All a lyricist has to do is place skillful lyrics anywhere in them, and a hit will be made. When working with a Chico Star beat you have to come hard, or the beat will leave you behind. Either way it goes, with a Chico Star beat you will be rocking your body whether the lyricist is up to par or not!

The winners of each show will receive multiple prizes and free services to help them further their career.

The series will have 11 shows, once a month, leading up to the 12^th show, when all of the winners from the first 11 shows come back and have one final challenge. This final challenge will earn them the title as Hip Hops Ultimate Freestyle MC and Producer. The first show will be on the 2^nd Friday of October, and each show after will be on the first Friday of every month.

H.U.C will be held at “The BBoy Spot”, located at 7033 Stapoint Court, Suite C, Winter Park, FL 32792. This is right behind Full Sail off of Forsyth.

Conscious Mind Records Making Major Moves!!!

The past few months for the Conscious Mind Records Family have been very productive. We have been making moves to take the Conscious Mind movement to a whole new level. Starting with the Conscious Mind Records office. We have officially finished building the recording booth. This has been a process lead by our brother Kareem Beazer and assisted by Souljah Bless. They finished in the beginning of august. The booth added a wonderful feel to the office, which is now going to be the birthplace of many great songs to come out of the family. The booth was officially blessed by Thomas A Jenkins IV (a.k.a DJ), the son of the company’s founder, With his first words spoken through the mic, “Daddy play some music so I can sing”.

One of the biggest moves made by the company this past August was the official last day of “Spoken Word Revolutions”, being held at Revolutions nightclub. The world known “Spoken Word Revolution” has changed locations to its new home “Café Annies, located at 131 N. Orange Ave, Orlando FL 32801. September 11 2012 is going to be the first night there. Also Society’s Poet, the founder of “Spoken Word Revolutions” has moved to Dallas Texas to spread the greatest Spoken Word show. She is making moves to get another Spoken word there, and making it possible for Poets to travel between the states, and have a place to perform. Do I see a Franchise beginning? Other great news for Spoken Word Revolution is we have now officially brought in THE FAMILY GANG, as the official band for Spoken Word Revolution!!!!! You already know this means the house will be rocking! Hopefully in due time we will be able to have the show on cable TV for the world to see.

In the works is LaRues next album “Unconditional”! I can tell you now it is OFF THE CHAIN!!! We are excited about it and if you make it to one of his many shows before the release, you stand a good chance of being bless with a new song or two off of it! The Album release date will be announced soon!

Society's Poet..The Entertainment Pioneer

In the Music Industry it can often be hard to become noticed, or even to introduce something new. For Nasstassia Marie Sitze, well known in the United States Spoken Word poetry scene as ”Society’s Poet”, this was a well excepted challenge. She began making herself appear on the scene in 2009, when her and a good friend Lavette Jackson decided to start a spoken word spot called “Spoken Word Revolution”, or SWR.

Her beginning was alittle slow, but it started to pick up pace quickly. Society’s Poet linked up with a small indie record company in January of 2010, named Conscious Mind Records Inc, and begin her climb to the top of the Orlando entertainment scene. Soon after her joining CMR she became one of the 5 board members of the company, and after just one year with her show running, SP’s, Spokenword Revolution began to gain a lot of attention across the states.

Grammy nominees, such as Queen Sheeba, were gracing her stage, and word began spreading fast. Shortly after SP, Released a song to the public, which she had collabed with Groove Major, called “Get Away” which you can find HERE! With SP’s music going strong and Spoken Word Revolution growing rapidly, her Notoriety of being one of the top Spoken Word Poets and host crossed the seas had spead up. Word all around the world began to spread, and demand for her talent grew.

SP has been blessed with the chance to grace many stages and has received numerous awards for her contribution to the world. Spoken Word Revolution had reached a level of great heights, but SP wanted to raise the roof. In 2012 Spoken Word Revolution became fully incorporated into Conscious Mind Records and has now taken a front spot in the drivers seat. Society’s poet has worked very hard, and will continue to push all the way threw the roof, Her latest venture has taken her out west. To Dallas Texas, where she will start a 2^nd Spoken Word Revolution, which will coincide with the Legendary Orlando one. She will also have her eyes open for new talent as she has recently earned the position of Vice President Of Artist Development and Production for Conscious Mind Records Inc.

We Salute Society’s Poet, and see her as becoming a legend around the world!

What do Record Labels Look For!!!

Everyday a new future star is born! In the music industry this is definitely the truth. The idea of being a star is all in the idea of the beholder. What is considered being a star to one person is not always the same as what other people consider to be a star. One thing that holds true, is that in order to reach the level of stardom most people consider, you will need help from someone already with there foot in the door. The question that many aspiring future stars may ask is exactly how do you go about getting your foot into the mainstream door. There are many answers to this including the one that we all dream of, Instant fame. Somehow, someway, someone will discover you singing to yourself, or at one of your shows, and POW! Instant success. However for 99.9999999% of us out here in the world. This is not the method that will work for us.

Another method to reaching the industry professional level is to know someone already there. Like a family member who may work for Sony Music, EMI, Warner, Universal or even Conscious Mind Records. As nice and as simple as this seems, people have to factor in that for all the people that work for a label, very few of them actually have the power or know the discussion maker well enough to get your music in the door. The chances of your friend or family member being the one are slim to none.

Then we have the main avenue most people take. We push hard getting our music out to the public, doing shows, publishing our material, selling CD’s and any other method we can think of. Well, let me tell you from the industry inside point of view, you have to be unique, and have a monster work ethic. I can give you the Conscious Mind Records point of view. As the C.E.O. Of Orlando Florida's fastest growing record company, I receive a lot of people’s music. From online popups on Face Book, to CD’s on my car window at shows, friends bring their friends music to me, emails, mail, and every way possible. I personally don’t have time to here them all, and I know the other labels don’t either. So let me give you a tip on how to get our attention.

First you have to be different. If you give me a CD with music that sounds like the majority of people out there today, I will not listen. I find that to be the most common problem. Most people rap or sing about the same thing, over beats that sounds the same, and there is nothing new about them at all. You have less then 10 seconds to catch the average discussion makers attention with your music. Make every second count, and new! Also the artist has to show me that they are willing to go through the same grind I had to, in order to be successful. Yes we will push you once we decide to sign you, but we need artist who take this business serious. Why would I spend thousands or in the major labels case, millions on an artist who wouldn’t spend a penny, and wouldn’t work there behinds off to be successful. Also, is if your look is boring, and doesn’t match your music genre, you may be over looked. You don’t have to be a dime piece, or look like Denzel in his prime, but your dress and look alone can gain you fans, before they even here your music.

Finally I must see confidence. I want to see you sing your song like it’s the best song in the world and I want you to show us why we should think so also. If you cant show me you truly believe in yourself and your music, then why should I believe in them. With all that being said, no matter who or what tells you to give up. You should never stop!!! Hello everyone and welcome back to the Conscious Mind Records Blog!!! It has been a few months since I last got everyone up to date on the company. A lot has been going on with the family, starting with the release of the “Babylon Beware” video. This epic song stars SoulJah Bless ft Skyy High! The video starts out with a huge bang! “Babylon Beware, we are coming for you”!!! This classic brings such a powerful straightforward message of unity of the people, to fight against injustice. This video has been over a year in the making. The song was originally recorded over a year ago, and Souljah had been waiting to find the perfect match to make it complete. With Skyy High officially part of the family, it only made since to put her on it. Her powerful messages with an angelic but deadly vocal set the almost perfect song into its own world! The song has become a cry for the Revolution! Many people have begun to make it an anthem! Join together it yells!!! No more oppression it screams!!! The “Gone Away” video, which is to be released next week on Wednesday, June 23^rd 2012, will be the first video to be released off of Skyy High’s newest album “Divinely Protected” which you can download on Itunes here http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/divinely-protected/id514976588 . “Gone Away”, which stars Skyy High and features Jawaan LaRue and “T”, tells a story of a woman and man who have come to the end of their relationship. The video which was Produced by Thomas A Jenkins III, and directed by Jodi Ann Willis, is definitely a homerun hit for the Conscious Mind Family. When the video is released it is expected to have a strong following. Russel Emanuel (H.A.Y.B.) and Thomas Jenkins “T” produced this song, and Joey Trife composed the beat. Another cool fact about the video is that it had a great crew of Full Sail University students and grads involved in making it. Full Sail University is considered one of the top in the nation for media education. In fact Jodi, LaRue,“T” and Mike Stanford(Crew Member) are all current students and H.A.Y.B. is also a past Full Sail Student. Yes we went all out on this one! The dawn of a new era has arrived! It is Revolutionary Times! In this world were money has become the ultimate goal, arrives a warrior of God! Skyy High, the Queen of the O-Town, has ignited a fire with her extraordinary new album, "Divinely Protected"! I recently had a talk with John Leon, also known as SoulJah Bless, President of Conscious Mind Records Inc, on the subject of Negotiations and Deal Making. SoulJah Bless partakes in most of the negotiations for our company. Everything from budgets for events, to signing new artist, if a deal is to be made, SoulJah Bless usually is part of it. Judging by our talk I would say that appreciation is one of his biggest tactics. You see SoulJah Bless is a person who appreciates everything in life. So when he is in negotiations, many times his upbeat can do attitude, mixed with his appreciation for the person he is negotiating with, is all it takes to make the deal go good. SoulJah Bless has been one of the major reasons why Conscious Mind Records has been able to maintain its presence of positivity. Souljah Bless say’s he finds it way easier to come to beneficial agreements for all parties when everyone is in a positive mood. The appreciation you show the other person can be the main basis for them doing business with you. One of his other main focuses for negotiating is working toward a mutual benefit for all parties involved. This is key when making deals for C.M.Records because we pride ourselves on fairness. As a leader in one of Florida’s primary entertainment cities, he is in constant deal making mode. He is prepared and always does his research before jumping into a deal making situation. However he say’s there are moments where you stumble onto a good deal, and have to be ready to talk with little to know prep time. When it comes to this then he says the good old fashion respectful conversation will usually do the job! Hello everyone!!!! These past few weeks have been like a train going 100 miles an hour for the Conscious

Mind Records family!!! As usual Conscious Mind Records has been going hard in the studio!!!

Skyy High’s single “Everything’s Alright” , was released to the world on the 1^st of February, to stellar

reviews!!! She also had Performances on the 4^th at Stigma Tattoo Bar, on the 8^that the haven for the

“Strength In Numbers Tour" with SoulJah Bless and our great friend Remedy Da Franchise, and on the 14^th

at Spoken Word Revolutions!!! Also SoulJah Bless, LaRue, and “T” Performed at Connor Smith’s Studio

18 Block Party, and also at Spoken Word Revolution wich is hosted by our sister Society’s Poet.

Performances have been GREAT!!! We have also been nominated for the “Soul Of da City” Record Label

of the year in Orlando, Fl. An awesome nomination, because “Soul Of da City” has been leading the way

for the musical Talent in Orlando Florida to be heard.

We have a couple Great events coming up for the rest of the month. Skyy High will be releasing the

video for “Everything’s Alright” before the month is up. On the 25^th is a BIG meet and greet with LaRue

Entertainment and many other big players in the industry. Also coming up on the 3^rd of March is he Soul

Of Da City, then on the 9^th of march Skyy High and SoulJah Bless will be performing at the “One Mic

Jam” located at Singh’s On Deck.

Conscious Mind Records is also looking for new Minds to help our family grow. We are looking for

people in area’s of Marketing, Promotion, Composers, Recording and mix Engineers, streat team members,

January was Pretty Busy for Conscious Mind Records!!!

Conscious Mind Records has been very busy lately! We recently finished up the recording of Skyy High’s new…soon to be released album “Divinely Protected”! Showcased so far from this Mega Hit was “Road Thru Hell”, next the first single to be released for sale from the album was “Everything's Alright”. Both songs have received a lot of attention. Skyy High will be releasing the entire album towards the end of March this year. The word out is that it’s going to rise on the billboard charts pretty smoothly. You can purchase your copy of “Everything’s Alright” off of CD Baby. Also this past month Skyy High was Rocking the shows!! For the month of February she has a steady flow of performances, a video shoot, a video release, and of coarse lots more studio time... She is unstoppable and on FIRE!!!!

In the month of January we also joined PAAD’s movement and participated in the Martin Luther King Day Parades for downtown Orlando and also Eatonville. As a member of PAAD it felt good to be able to help in such an honorable event. To show respect to the Honorable Doctor Martin Luther King!

LaRue has been working on his new album Unconditional and also LaRue, SoulJah Bless, “T”, Society’s Poet, Skyy High, Perry, JLIT and 1DAWG have all been working hard in the studio on the Company Compilation album "Conscious Awakening".

As always, “Spoken Word Revolution”, the monthly spoken word poetry show hosted by Society’s Poet, had an awesome night! We had great performances from all of the Poets and Music Artist. Spoken Word Revolution has been leading the state of Florida for over a year now as the #1 Spoken Word show in the state of Florida!

Well everyone that was a quick update on our past month and some things to look forward to in the future. Conscious Mind Records has been growing every single day. Our fans have become part of our family!!! Everyday more and more people are coming to the light. We will continue to keep everyone up to date with our progress and will continue to represent those who are trying to change humanity for the better. To bring everyone together like we all belong. Clay Shirky speaks on Ted Talks About why SOPA/PIPA is Bad.

I watched a great video of a Ted Talk presentation today. Clay Shirky gave a speech about why SOPA is a bad idea. In this speech he talked about the Stop Online Piracy Act. This act will allow the government to censor what you can or cannot put onto your website. This act is a bill in congress right now that states if you put media on your site that does not belong to you.. Ie..music, pictures, movies, video’s . ect… The government can shut your site down and will have all the search engines take their link to you down. Also they can come after you and prosecute you for steeling. The concept is actually to have a way to control online piracy over seas, however it gives a lot of leeway for the government to step into the domestic domain and control everything we do online.

I speak for myself when I say I totally do not like this ideal. I am against online piracy, but I don’t agree with controlling what I can put up or not. Its kind of a catch 22. As a Record company owner, I 100% do not want anyone to use our music without paying for it. It’s like a painter painting a picture and everyone in the world being able to get it for free. The difference is the original painting is always worth more then copies, where as with music a copy is just as good as the original. As a person who loves music, I would like to continue to get music for free. I love being able to get all kinds of music without having to spend money to get it. I would be the customer that put’s my record company out of business. SO the question is how do we fight this. Well we can call, write, and downright bother the mess out of our congressmen. With this being said, the choice is yours how you would like this to play out, but if you take no action do not be upset when the bill passes and you are now under more control. Peace!!! The entertainment industry is one often depicting the glamorous or fun side of life, often leaving the business side out of the public’s eye. However in order for a lot of people to get paid for their work they must collect royalties. Royalties are money paid for the use of a writers, or composers works. People purchase the use of their music, usually licensed to them through a music publisher. The money for radio , club, elevator, and all other non-dramatic public performances of their copyrighted works are collected by performance rights organizations. Organizations such as American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

A.S.C.A.P. is an organization made up of music writers, composers, and publishers. They collect royalties for the composers and writers, and distributes them accordingly. They along with a few other Performance Rights Organizations, have made it easy to collect royalties. Years ago a publisher would have to have connections with every radio station that plays there music. With organizations like A.S.C.A.P., Radio stations along with others pay them for a blackent license fee for the use of songs published by a large number of artist. The data of plays are sent to A.S.C.A.P and A.S.C.A.P will divide the royalties according to equal statistics for the music played.

Performance Rights organizations allow writers such a s myself to be able to focus on our music instead of collecting money. I am a member of A.S.C.A.P. and have been for the past 6 years. It greatly effects my ability to make money. I highly recommend anyone that is in the music industry should deafeningly have a membership with one of these companies to get their fare share of the pie!.

This past month has been a stellar month for Conscious Mind Records Inc. We have been nominated for the “Soul Of Da City” Record Label of the year. This is an honor for our company, because “Soul Of Da City” has done a lot to help build the Orlando music scene. Allowing many local artists to show their music to the world.

Along with this great award nomination, we also released 2 music video’s.. the first one was “Judge Me” a great song off of LaRue’s “Saturn Returns album. After releasing this great video to awesome reviews, we released JLIT’s “Keep Talking" video. This is a wonderful song, about no matter how someone can try to put her down, she will continue to thrive. Both of these video’s have been receiving great reviews.

We have also started planning for 3 more videos in the near future, and multiple recordings coming soon. On top of all of this, we have been notified that our music has been consistently being played on radio station all across the U.K. We have been asked to try and set show’s up over there. LaRue also won a recent contest with his new song “Move On”. Kay Tenko produced the beat, and had a contest for someone to come up with the best song for it.

Conscious Duplications has stepped into full production creating quality duplicates of CD’s and DVD’s to the public. Conscious Frames Photography has been working overtime on multiple projects for Conscious Mind Records and the public. We have taken our company to the next level and have many more wonderful ventures coming.

With a wonderful team/family working with us, Conscious Mind Records is a force to be reckoned with. Collaborations are in progress for many business ventures and we are expanding our staff. Adding on to our Marketing and Promotional teams, in order to effectively reach markets everywhere. Look for further post on here to keep you up to date with the progression of this great company!!

Thanksgiving with the family

This Thanksgiving was wonderful for the us all!!! Everyone got to spend time with their families and then we all came together to help celebrate the birthday of our favorite DJ... DJ Niecy-D! She is a legend in the music scene, as one of the first female DJ's in the business she has been spinning records for many years! DJ Niecy-D is a DJ for Star 94.5. She also DJ's for many Internet radio stations. On top of all of her success she is a valid supporter for our Conscious Mind Records family and has worked with us on many Projects. You can find her on "Niecy-D". On top of this festive holiday, we also launched our CD Duplication program.. offering Duplication to the world! Check it out on our site "Conscious Mind Records"! Over all I would say the Holiday season started out with a great Bang and is a great launch for the year to come! Peace!

The Beginning of a Great Record Company!

We sat in my dining room going over names for what seemed like hours. It had to be a name that would represent the company and what the company stood for in its entirety. Tameeka, SoulJah Bless, and myself “T”, where caught in a whirlwind of names that didn’t seem to fit my new found concept of a unique record company. A company that would base its entire mission on creating and promoting positive, enlightening, and knowledge filled music. Until this day it was just a concept in my head, but know it was to become a reality. When I said the name, it was almost like a light filled the room. We all looked up with huge grins on our faces. On January 22^nd 2010, Conscious Mind Records was born!

Since our conception, we have added 14 more members to the company, nine of which are artist or poets, including one R&B/Pop singer in Nigeria Africa. We have completed and released multiple singles, and albums. We have published numerous music video’s and promotional video’s, have been Interviewed on many radio stations including some in the U.K. Our company and artist have had many articles written about them in news papers, magazines, and blogs. We have performed in many venues around the United States doing shows with some of the most famous names in the industry. We have expanded our services beyond our company, now offering photography, photo editing, music recording, mixing, producing, writing, and recently with our newest addition of CD duplication, printing, and full packaging services all of which are available to the public, We have become the fastest growing Record Company in all of central Florida. We have built a reputation for upholding the standard of quality in everything that we do. In this blog, we will continue to take you on our journey to the top of the music industry.
