Start A Business With No Money- Free Business Idea

2012-01-24T05:02:00.000-08:00

Most people who want to start their own business don’t have a ton of money laying around and it’s probably one the most common questions I get emailed about: How can I get started without a lot of cash?

Well I’ve put together a list below of the best ideas I’ve heard and personally used. I hope you find it useful!

The three basic strategies to starting a business without much money are:

Delay the normal “business starting” activities like incorporating, hiring, renting office or retail space, etc until AFTER your business has started earning money. This is known as bootstrapping.
Doing everything yourself and spending your personal time instead of hiring an expert. (Takes longer but costs less.)
Using some neat tricks and little known deals below.

Start With The Easy Stuff: Eliminate Expenses

1. Don’t rent an office! – work from home. Or better yet work from the best free office with locations everywhere: Starbucks. If you need to meet with a client and are worried about seeming small time without an office, don’t be. Just meet them at a restaurant for a lunch meeting. This is what people with the nicest offices do anyway.

2. Don’t hire any employees! – do it all yourself until you have some $ coming in the door.

3. Don’t hire lawyers, technical people, graphic designers, or assistants (see below)

Legal Stuff and Incorporating

4. Get a free lawyer and legal advice from the mentors at Score.org

5. Find a website with a similar legal document and modify it to your needs

6. An LLC is probably the best business structure, but don’t worry about incorporating until you’re earning money, just do a sole proprietorship, you can always incorporate later (you can get it setup with the IRS in just a few minutes by calling them at 800-829-4933)

7. Learn how to do your own financial statements for your business in Excel instead of hiring a CPA or bookkeeper (again you can do this after you’re making money)

8. Take a Quickbooks class at your local community college

Make a website for your business

9. Don’t pay a premium for a top end domain name, there are plenty of good ones left

10. Test out your ideas by writing to a blog, you’ll get feedback on what people like and don’t like

11. Get a free business website at www.wordpress.com or tumblr.com. It won’t be your own domain (it will be something like yourbusiness.wordpress.com) but…

12. When you’re ready to have your own domain, register it at domain.com and add this as a custom domain to your WordPress or Tumblr site.

13. Get a professional website design for free with a wordpress theme that you can install with a few clicks (no programming knowledge needed)

Getting a Logo

14. Don’t hire a fancy graphic designer. At least not yet. Use LogoYes to create your own logo (or at least get ideas that you can recreate on your own for free)

Accepting Credit Cards

15. Don’t bother with a full merchant account to start off with, they are complicated, come with monthly feeds, and require programming expertise. Instead try a simpler (and much cheaper) solution like Google Checkout or Paypal

16. For a more professional look and a complete shopping cart for only $5/month use E-Junkie, its great and I use it on this site

17. If you have lots of physical products, try a Yahoo Store

Starting a service business where you consult, coach, teach, etc

18. Create several pages on your wordpress site: one for your experience, testimonials, rates, availability, etc

19. Pick a domain name with your #1 keyword in it! (Assuming it isn’t a very competitive keyword you’ll rank on the first page of google within a month or two for that keyword which means customers!) here’s some more info and an example

Creating Info Products

20. Use an ebook template like these from Eben Pagan

21. For print books, self publish it at www.lulu.com and use print on demand (they don’t print a single book until someone buys it which means you have zero up front cost for inventory!)

22. Use a $20 webcam or digital camera to create educational video products

23. Use camtasia ( $200 for PC) or iShowU ($20 for Mac) to record your screen and make great videos like this one. Or record powerpoints and do the voiceover to make great educational products. Update: even cheaper use ScreenToaster.

24. Use a mac to edit your videos (iMovie is free) and you can even produce DVD’s

Before investing in a retail location…

25. Go to a local fair or festival and rent a booth to see if anyone buys your product. Talk to potential customers and get feedback.

26. Try selling it on ebay

Always be learning about business

27. Go to a meetup.com groups in your city related to business/entrepreneurship

28. Read all the best business books by getting them from the library

29. Get 3 of the top 10 books on building wealth for free in PDF

30. Make friends with other entrepreneurs and share material

31. Install the stumble upon toolbar and choose business/entrepreneurship as one of your interests to find all the best videos and talks out there (this is literally like going to a free semester of business school, you get to see all the best speakers and thinkers of our time, and those of the past)

32. Read blogs like this one in google reader

Marketing, free website traffic, and getting your first customer

33. Get 250 full-color business cards for free to hand out to people you meet

34. Post an offer on craigslist

35. Post videos on youtube with links to your website

36. Post the same video to all video sharing sites (Google Video, Yahoo Video, MySpace, Revver, etc) at once with TubeMogul (this is some of the best free marketing you can do)

37. Generate leads by offering an incentive on your website for people to give you their contact info (some incentives that work well: Top 10 reports like the top 10 myths about…the top 10 thing you should know before…etc, videos, audio interviews, one page cheat sheets, free ebooks)

38. Write a good article and send it to more popular websites (include your byline at the bottom). This is also known as doing guest posts and is the #1 thing I used to grow this blog when it first started out.

39. Learn how to use google adwords and spend $10 and see if it brings in at least $10 (if so keep going!)

40. If you can’t afford to get links from expensive directories like Yahoo ($299) useDirectory Submitter to get links from hundreds of smaller directories for free

41. Pick a good domain name with your keywords in the domain (use hyphens if necessary). This will help you rank in Google for that keyword and get visitors to your website.

42. Do some basic on page SEO

43. Research what keywords will bring you the most traffic (and are least competitive) with keyword discovery, Wordtracker’s Free Service, and (probably the best option) WordTrackers free trial of their full service (just have to remember to cancel within 7 days to not get charged!)

44. See which keywords are likely to bring buyers (instead of tire kickers)

45. Get more incoming links to your site by creating a Squidoo page (these rank very high in the search engines for some reason!)

46. Send an email to everyone in your email program’s contact list with a short friendly note letting them know you are starting a business and ask if they could forward it to just one or two people who might be interested. Offer something free for the first 10 people. This has an exponential effect because it not only reaches who you know, but everyone who knows who you know (an order of magnitude bigger group of people.)

2012-01-23T04:15:00.000-08:00

aula Deen has confirmed that she has been living with Type 2 Diabetes today, following speculation last week that the celebrity cook had signed on as a spokes woman for a pharmacutial company that makes medication for the disease.

Deen, 64, made the anticipated announcement on the “Today” show Tuesday, telling Al Roker that she was diagnosed three years ago, reports Cara Kelly of All We Can Eat:

Deen has been taking a drug called Victoza, made by Novo Nordisk, and has teamed with the company as a paid spokesperson to launch a program that aims to help people live with Type 2 diabetes and promote the drug, Jennifer LaRue Huget of The Checkup writes:

When asked whether the deep-fried and high-fat recipes she has published in her cookbooks and on the Food Network can lead to diabetes, Deen said it is only one part of the puzzle, according to the Associated Press:

One nonprofit organization ranked Deen’s cookbook as one of the worst for high-fat and calorie content, says Cara Kelly of All We Can Eat:

How To Make the Lighter Oyster dish Version

2012-01-23T04:13:00.001-08:00

Last week's oyster casserole was rich with butter and cream, and as Henriette den Ouden of Habanera Farm in Tyaskin pointed out, it wasn't for everyone.

"Many people on the Eastern Shore are staying away from butter and cream due to cholesterol issues," wrote the herbalist and cooking coach. "This is why I am sending you the recipe we have been using for years and we share with our clients. It is basically oysters, with the addition of some vegetables and some spice."

Here's the oyster recipe from Habanera Farm.

Oysters In The Oven

One pint of oysters

One medium-sized onion, cut in small pieces

One celery stem, sliced

One clove garlic, finely cut in small pieces

Three small carrots (or one big one), sliced

One-half tablespoon olive oil

One-quarter teaspoon pepper

One-half cup white wine (optional)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drain the moisture from the oysters into a cup; you might want to use this later. Butter a

2-quart Pyrex or oven-safe dish and add the oysters, without the juice. Saute the onion in olive oil until it looks like glass (and tastes kind of sweet). Add the garlic, celery stem and carrots, and add pepper to taste (at least one-quarter teaspoon.) Saute for three minutes. Add one-half cup white wine if you want, use the oyster juice or combine both, and simmer for one minute until all is hot.

Add the sauce on top of the oysters. Sprinkle with bread crumbs so that the surface is covered with a thick layer, then sprinkle a little cheese if you want (please not much -- we are eating oysters and not cheese.) Bake in the oven for 25 minutes at 375 degrees. It should bubble on the sides.

Eat this with bread, or create an oyster wrap with toasted whole wheat tortillas.

A pineapple treat. This little gem of a cookie recipe had been sitting undiscovered in my cookbook collection since 1993, the year Pillsbury put out the cookbooklet "Holiday Classic XII: Over 100 Recipes & Ideas." These are absolutely delicious!

The New York Giants - NFC Champions - Headed Back To The Super Bowl

2012-01-23T03:44:00.001-08:00

The New York Giants will face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI after beating the San Francisco 49ers in overtime in the NFC Championship game on Sunday.Lawrence Tynes kicked the winning field goal from 31 yards to give the Giants a 20-17 victory at Candlestick Park.

The Patriots had earlier edged into the Super Bowl by beating the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 in the AFC Championship game when kicker Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal to force overtime.

Scotland-born Tynes said: "It's amazing. It's my second NFC Championship game and my second game-winner.

"I had dreams about this last night, but it was from 42 (yards) not 31.

"I was so nervous today, just anticipating this kind of game. I knew I was going to have to make a kick."

Tynes also kicked the game-winning field goal in overtime at Green Bay in the 2008 NFC title game that put the Giants in the Super Bowl, where they beat the Patriots to end their quest for a perfect season.

Kyle Williams was the villain for the 49ers, fumbling a punt return in overtime to leave the Giants on the 24-yard line, from where three runs set up Tynes to seal the win.

Williams, returning kicks in place of the injured Ted Ginn, also failed to gather a punt early in the fourth quarter to set up the touchdown - a 17-yard pass from Eli Manning to Mario Manningham - which put the Giants ahead 17-14.

David Akers kicked a 25-yard field goal for the 49ers to take the game to overtime, but it was his opposite number Tynes who ended up as the hero.

The Detroit Lions in Record Fashion By New Orleans Saints

2012-01-08T01:43:00.000-08:00

New Orleans (14-3) Posted Detroit Lions 45-28 on Saturday night, the Superdome Mercedes-Benz and create a common understanding of the playoff game next week in San Francisco.

It should be an exciting duel, soft, or the best defense in the NFL with the 49ers is the undisputed best of the offense Saints. Stressed the divine nature of the Lions, a handful of breaking the NFL record 626 yards and record in the playoffs the team was broken, he had been since 1963.

Such firepower overwhelmed by Detroit (07 tenths), who played quite well in his first appearance on the game since 1999 and had the game in the third quarter. Lions now look to build a successful franchise campaigns for years, but the Saints went back to the continuation of the Super Bowl.

49ers with three starting defensive front seven NFC Pro Bowl list of players, but the Spirit is a seemingly endless series of weapons in the attack. It is night, when the stars of some of the Spirit seems to be a dangerous time, errors and recovery of the defective quality of the opponent, but more than 40 points for the fourth straight game.

Quarterback Drew Brees, for example, set aside, it's probably closed and fumbled for the second quarter, once the bag Santo. But he ended up filling 33 43 466 passing yards and three touchdowns. During the process, he broke the record for passing yards in a NFC wild-card game, and 77 percent of graduates was 71.2 percent higher than its regular season record.

Similarly, a wide receiver Marques Colston and Robert Meachem had a nervous breakdown in the first half, the Saints Colston search ylenkatsotte first record following the 7-0 team, and Meachem long pass that went straight into the hands of others, inexplicably. The first two errors, and lost a lot of graduates, Colston caught seven passes for 120 meters and 111 meters from Meachem catches, 56 yards hit in the middle of the fourth quarter, which blew the game open 38 -21 to New Orleans for good.

Such a prolific passing attack is possible, a strong current match. Work with the defense that prides itself on the strength of a line, hammered 167 meters from the Saints, Pierre Thomas and Darren SPROLS it looks better.

Later, Meachem said the Saints finally throw their first round playoff loss to Seattle on the road last season.

"We can not stop now hear," Colston said after his first play, the game has received more than 100 meters.

Turn the product on Saturday night was a great personality and a team approach to Detroit is the correct identification of the team according to Meachem.

"This way of thinking for us to just go and have fun and play football," he said. "Do not be so tight. I just wanted to come back to us. "

Coach Sean Payton noted that contains a healthy dose of physical and mentality.

"We tip our hat to Detroit to come here and play their guts," said Payton. "It was a good win for us and good football in the second half. We had some excellent effort plays. I thought tons yards after contact. We had a great rotation, these three guys. I am very happy with the balance, and we overcame two turnovers in the first half. "

In fact, the final minutes last only appeared in a wide success. Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford, who finished 43 times 28 380 meters and three touchdowns and led the Lions took the opening of 80 yards to eight plays, ending 10-yard touchdown and tight end will go to Heller, that made the score 7 -0.

Saints scored on two-yard carry with SPROLS points, but the Lions responded, taking 14-7 lead 9:11 remaining in the second quarter 13-yard Stafford is a wide receiver Calvin Johnson.

Johnson, Payton announced that the receiver and the other is the best football, but strangled Detroit, visited New Orleans last month, responded to the hype Saturday, gaining 211 yards on the 12th, and adding a second point 12-yard fourth quarter.

At that time, but the game was decided.

New Orleans eliminated the deficit from 14 to 10 part-time. John Kasay kicked a 24-yard began as prescribed in the first half, the Saints have 1 / 4 to 14-play, 78-yard run to score, which appeared in the catches hit Colston was nonexistent, "After the tests more. "

"We made big plays, especially in the second half, and it is encouraging," said Payton. "I am pleased with how we can protect the ball in the second half."

Perhaps none of the plays are much higher than the 41-yard pass from Brees threw it into the receiver Devery Henderson to open the second half gave the Saints a lead they did not give up.

"How can we returned, which demonstrates our commitment," said Colston. "We knew, from two sales were at halftime that if we could just go ahead and do what we must do to start the second half, we would all be good."

Brees of the Saints three-yard high-end Jimmy Graham stretching the lead to 24-14 with 4:03 remaining in the third quarter and seemed about to cruise to easy victories, but Stafford and the Lions continue to fight.

Instead, the Lions touchdown run with 80 yards. The key piece was a rainbow of 42 yards for Stafford, began a furious race. Ball arc to the left and safety Malcolm Jenkins, Johnson won the ball in stride and assembled two-yard line. When the Lions have met twice in the middle of Stafford, he retired, and just pass the ball to the goal line pylon when his knee hit the points that made the score 24-21 going to the fourth quarter.

However, the Spirit took the trenches. Lions in front of a huge four, which has become a defensive tackle Suh Ndamokung back when he was the first match, due to the postponement, it can not Brees dog.

"They gave us a certain part of the first half," Payton acknowledged. "There are times when Drew is back in place, some of the bags, but we started to win the game took some of the battles."

Saint dominance was reflected in the whole front of the fourth quarter. SPROLS scored on 17-yard run 9:58 left to give back to the cushion 10 points the Saints 31-21. SPROLS and Thomas is probably motors to drive, Brees, or catch the ball in the fifth month, 14-play.

Back Corner Jabari Greer, who attacked the Lions throughout the game, got his revenge on the Lions to play first, listening to a passport Stafford launched a severe stress, defensive end Will Smith. Five plays later, Brees found Meachem wide open on the left and connected to a 56-yard was 38-21 with 7:39 remaining.

Another rating system? Johnson touchdown catch and a second 1-yard by Thomas one? only added to the final result, and helped push him 59 points on the spread set by Las history of NFL playoffs over 1.3 Vegas.
