Isn't this a wake up call for all? It doesn't take long for people to realize that they are in control not the economy. People react to fear too easily. The crisis we are now in did not happen over night. It is time to take responsibility for your action. Here is how you can do it:

1. See this as a time of growth where you take into account all the things you've been doing wrong and correct them. For example, paying off your credit cards, pay with cash, save more, and plan for long term. Don't get short sighted based on the things that are happening around you. Stay focus on your long term goals and you will see the result.

2. Stay up to date with current trends. It is a good time to invest in the stock market. Buy low and remember long term. Seek advice from a qualified stock broker and also read up on everything so you're in control of your finance. Know about your investment and don't rely on everything someone tells you. Be your own researcher and know the facts before you start to shed out any money.

3. Use efficiency in your affairs. If you have two phones and you only use one get rid of the other. You're wasting your money. Also, do not pay for cable if you do not use it. Pay only for things you need and you will save some money. As I said it is not the economy it is how you do things.

Take care and I will be back soon with more tips. Thanks for reading.

Copyrighted 2009 by Annmarie Edwards

If you could remember one thing about your grandmother what would it be?

Dear Reader,

Do you remember the first time you started to read? Well let me share with you how I began to read. I learned how to read in kindergarten long time ago but my grandmother Sitira helped me a lot. My grandmother read the bible to me every night before I went to bed. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 27. This was her ritual every night before bedtime. She read with so much passion and conviction any sinner would be converted for lol.

Our nightly read

Sitta and I huddled by the lamp at 8:00 p.m. The lamp had a special glow for our eyes only. Its brightness illuminated the room as Sitta' s voice picked up-tempo. She pronounced each word in reverence. I was fascinated with her voice as each word resonated in the room. Listening to Sitta was like hearing the symphony played as it took you up a notch and gently brought you down. That was Sitta's voice.

My big surprise

After listening to Sitta's reading every night she asked me to read for her one night. From that time on, I was hooked. I was the reader. I read to my grandmother every night until she passed away. I was only eleven years old when that happened. Sitta passed away thirty-six years ago. Time really flies.

My reading skills soared

Reading to my grandma helped my reading skills tremendously. I learned at an early age how to pronounce words I was unfamiliar with. When I struggled with a word, Sitta was right there helping me along. She helped me to pronounce the unfamiliar words and explained them to me. With encouragement, I became a fast reader and as a result, my interest in reading developed. What did you learn from your grandmother you would like to share?

Now you know about mine. Stay tuned for more Dear Sitta.

My grandmother nickname was Sitta (Sitira) a cute name.

Copyrighted © 2009 by Annmarie Edwards

Priceless Lessons From My Grandmother Sitta

Dear Reader,

My Grandmother Priceless Lessons

What did you learn from your grandmother? I've learned so many things that are priceless even today. My grandmother Sitta was the most precious and stable person in my life at an early age. I could depend on her when everything fails. She was a no nonsense person and knew exactly what she was about. Sitta was a loving person who cared about her family and the community.

Sitta taught me the love of reading, self-esteem, love, caring, honesty, obedience, respect, community, sharing, discipline, persistence, and balance. She always encouraged me and my sister to get our work done first and then play after. When she wasn't around it was the opposite. Children always love to play first and then work after. We always get in trouble with that.

The farmer
Sitta was a farmer who lived on ten acres of family land. Her family land was part of her inheritance. She was an herbalist and knew all the herbs for different ailments. I was fascinated with the way she planted and gathered her herbs for different sicknesses.

Sitta knew how to communicate with nature. She believed in prayer and helping her neighbors. She helped people save by serving as a banker for a short time. Every week a group of people would give her money and one person out of the group would receive the group's collection. This was a healthy way for people to save their money and buy whatever they wanted.

Sitta was a gem to her family, friends, and community. A disciplined person whose life's lessons is priceless even today. I surely missed my grandmother Sitira(Sitta). Love you!

This blog is dedicated to my grandmother Sitira Young who passed away over thirty-six years ago. Sitira had her roots in Scotland, India, and Africa.

Copyrighted © 2009 by Annmarie Edwards

Know Your Neighbor And Avoid Faulty Mistakes

Dear Readers,

A bunch of Daisy Flowers Greeted Me On My First Arrival In My Old Neighborhood

When I moved in my old neighborhood I was greeted with a fresh bunch of Daisy Flowers from my neighbor Mary next door. I was living in Providence, Rhode Island back then. She quoted the bible verse "Love your neighbor as yourself." I was astounded with what she said but she meant it with all her heart. She was my best neighbor in the whole world. She and her husband Frank are caring people. Although we are different nationality they saw me for who I'm and nothing more.

Great Neighbors

Frank and Mary did neighborly things like when I was sick Mary would go to the store for me. She volunteered her service. Her husband a retired Veteran would bring in my garbage bin every Tuesday. He told me not to worry about it and he did this every week. I am writing about this because I want the world to know that there are good people around. We need to get to know our neighbors and let them know us. In case of emergency they are even closer than your family.

My neighbors would not call the police on me because they knew my schedule. If I'm out sick from work they called me early in the morning to find out if I was okay. They had my cell and home numbers.

Isolation is not good in these times. Social networking is bridging the gap to help people to get to know each other through networking. Getting to know people should not be a selfish act. You need to show genuine interest by getting to know the person. That is all for now. You can even shop free using coupons.

Michele Easter America's #1 Shopping Expert revealed in her book "Shop like a coupon Queen," how you can save hundreds of dollars on your grocery bill using coupons. With the high-rise of gas and increase in grocery bills using coupons is a great idea to save money.

Coupon Secrets Revealed

The secret beyond using coupon as a saving tool is to begin clipping grocery coupons from the Sunday newspaper. The Sunday newspaper contains various coupons from different manufactures. You can go further by collecting box tops with UPC symbols. Your box tops have cash value when you mail them to the different manufactures for cash.

According to Easter, "when you send away your box tops and UPS symbols, manufactures reward you with coupons for free products and with cash" (p. 4).

How to collect coupons for cash

1. Subscribe to your Sunday newspaper and begin to clip all coupons you can. Your Sunday newspaper is your main source that provides coupons for clipping.

2. Subscribe to a coupon newsletter. A coupon newsletter allows you to trade coupons with other clippers and keep you up-to-date on freebies.

3. Collect coupons from your supermarkets, magazines, and newspaper inserts. Don't forget these avenues they can provide you with added coupons.

4. Check your junk mail for coupons. Sometimes your junk mails have offers. Check your mail before you dump them. You might be throwing away money.

5. Organize your coupons in a folder. It is important to organize your coupons in a folder so when you're ready to use them you know where to find them. It is futile going to the supermarket looking for a coupon you're unable to find. Organizing your coupon in a folder will cut down on lost time while keeping you organize.

6. Save your receipt as proof of purchase. Saving your receipt is important, as some manufactures need a proof of purchase to refund you money or to send you a coupon.

7. Find stores that double your coupons. You need to shop around in your neighbor and research which store is using double coupons. Sometimes stores flyers will tell you which day of the week they are using double coupons.

In short, coupons are ways to save money. Don't forget this form of savings when you're doing your grocery shopping. Remember every penny counts. Good luck on clipping your grocery coupons.

Annmarie Edwards is a business growth expert who likes to inform people on ways to save money. Lets begin.

What is a Gem?

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, a Gem is classified as something precious in the mineral field. It is something rare and valuable. A Gem has a natural spark even more when it aged.

How to Find the Gem in You

Life's experiences hit you like a storm. Some crumble under its force, while some battle it and become even more stronger. What type are you?

Weathering the Storm

When the high storm rises, you feel like this should not be happening to you. Often you asked the question why me? Well, that is an interesting thought. Life experience is part of living. You're either part of this experience or you're dead. Which one do you want?

The Drama

Drama has action. It has both protagonist and villains. Do you know you co-exist with your protagonist and villains?

Life's Questions

What life changing experience you had in the past and how it impacted your life and others? Did this experience help you to change some of your core belief system? What kind of person you're now as a result of this experience?

Your Villains and Protagonist

Stella Cameron gives a detail description of a villian. See link for more details.
http://www.stellacameron.com/contrib/villains.html
Every story has villains and a protagonist. A protagonist is the main character of the story while the villains are the troublemakers. As such, within each scene of your life there is drama. You're part of this drama because you created it. Identify your villains and protagonist now by writing down their names and how they impact you in your experience. Lastly, give your drama a name. It is your headline, which, separate each experience as you live them.

The Experience that shook your Holy Ground

Coming back to finding your Gem within, I would like you to get a pad and write down the most pressing experience you had to date. You can sketch the details and fill them in later. Examples of experiences: death of a family member, divorce, homelessness, drug addiction, financial failure, loss of job, mental breakdown and the list goes on. This gives you some ideas of life's experiences. Find yours and begin the process.

Identify your nightmare within your experience

Within your experiences, there are nightmares. Something that keep you awake. I would like you to identify them now by writing them down. Give your nightmare a headline. Examples: my lost childhood, my big breakup, my painful divorce, becoming homeless, my lost income, my financial ruin, losing my house, the death of my best friend and so forth.

Your "takes" on life

Now you have your headline write down from beginning to end using one scene from your life all the "takes." For example if your experience was homelessness, you can write down everything that happened to you that led up to becoming homeless. A great activity. By doing this activity, you're putting everything in perspective.

"Bless your difficulties and ask to see their hidden guidance. Have the courage to accept what you discover and to initiate whatever action your healing requires" (Healing Cards by Caroline Myss and Peter Occhiogrosso).

Now you need to identify the most painful event that happened during that time of your life. What was happening to you during that time? Write it down now!

I would like you to write down all the people who were around you during your difficulties. Were they helpful to you? What did they say to you that time that helped you? Write down now how you got out of your situation. Did you learn anything from the pain and the drama you created and live through?

Your New Headline

Now your new headline should read: how I survive divorce, homelessness, lost income, the death of my child, mental breakdown, and so forth. Write down how you survive your experience. Use a new page in your journal and begin now!

Going back to how to find the Gem within capitalizes on all your life's experiences. When life experiences hit you like a storm and you survive something new happen in your life. Did you see the change in your life? For one thing, you begin to shine because now you're the Gem. You're the most precious person walking this earth. You sparkle and shine. Now you're a survivor and you'll live to tell the tales. It wasn't bad after all.

A True Gem

Life is the process that brings forth the Gem in you. You're the Gem. Now is your time to use life's experience and sparkle. Be the Gem you were made to be…

Copyrighted © by Annmarie Edwards 2008

The Urantia Book holds The Secret Of The Universe

Dear Reader,

There is an old book on the horizon that is surfacing now. The name of the book is The Urantia. This book offers insights into our God consciousness. It highlights a more in-depth view of God from the beginning of creation up until now. It is kind of complicated when you begin to read it but do not get discourage, continue to read it and the wisdom will come.

This book has been a secret over the ages and finally it is out. The information is out there. I have heard that pastors used this book in their sermons without any reference to its existence. I don't know how true this is.

The Urantia book helps to expand one's religious knowledge of the universe and the God consciousness that exit. It doesnot go against any religious teachings but serves to enlighten our knowledge of our universe and the power that exist. This teaching comes at a time when people are moving more towards a God consciousness. The truth is out there to those who seek it. There is nothing wrong in seeking truth. From every since creation man seek knowledge about the universe and its evolution. This is the book to read to glean knowledge on this vast universe we occupy. Planning for a vacation can be a daunting task. Normally, when I am planning a vacation I would use a discount travel agency. The discount travel agency discount fares up to 60 percent of the cost. When you're making your booking let your travel agent knows exactly what you require on your trip.

The travel agent will tell you about the different excursions available as well as the price range that falls within your budget.

Things to consider before contacting your travel agent:

1. What kind of things are you looking for? Jot them down and discuss them with your travel agent when you make the call.

2. What price range are you looking for? This is important to know before hand how much money you're willing to spend.

3. Are you traveling solo or you're traveling with a group. On a cruise a solo traveler bookings cost up to 200 percent than when you travel with someone else.

4. Are you traveling overseas? Make sure you have a passport, get shots and know the country guidelines. Find out before hand if it is a troubled area. Avoid traveling to areas that will put your safety at risk.

5. Think about all the activities you would like to do on your trip. Make a list and discuss them with your agent.

When you're talking with your travel agent tell him/her your dietary preferences if you're booking a cruise. Give yourself enough time. Additionally, for cruising discuss with your agent your dining preference whether it is formal or casual.

Finally, before travel contact the airlines and find out their rules as their regulations in terms of baggage's changes. There are many reasons people lose their homes and it can happen to anyone. Homeowners have to learn how to pick up the pieces and move on to greener pastures.

Dear Reader,

In the U.S., thousand of people are losing their homes daily. The foreclosure figure is growing daily. Losing your home to foreclosure is like swimming in a deep ocean and then suddenly you began to sink without having a straw to cling on. At first, you go through the big denial stage. You're in a can't believe stage or state of shock. It is hard to wake up to the reality that you're losing your house. The emotional turmoil of not knowing where you're going to live and how to pay back your debts are frightening experience for many home owners.

Homeowners lose their homes for many reasons such as lack of work, having large debts, refinance home loan with a high interest rate, relocations, unemployment, divorce and the list goes on. The foreclosure market spells recession for some. The U.S. economy is losing ground due to the large debt owe credit card companies. It is a sad state of affair that so many people are losing their hard earn money that they put in their homes. The foreclosure market shows that your nest egg if not protected can be taken away at any time.

The foreclosed market provides big opportunities for investors. One man's failure is another man's opportunity. Karma has a way to pay back people who pry on other people misfortune. Sometimes you have to rethink a deal before putting out money. It is best to find a common ground where everyone is happy before investing in properties that have bagges due to financial distress.

A Case Study

Here is a classic case study. A man and his wife bought a new house and had to move due to a job offer. They moved in three weeks and had to pack their belongings. They put their house on the market. They were unable to get back their money that they put in their house. Someone came along and bought the house. The new owner stayed for two years and had to sell the property for the same price they bought it for from the previous owner. You wonder is this karma or what?

Foreclosure can happen to anyone. In today's world, you have to be strong knowing that if you lose your home to foreclosure you can get another one. You have to learn how to pick up the scattered pieces and move on with your live. Life sometimes can dish you many challenges, it is the way of life. Don't get discourage because there are many folks who've walked your road and survived. Foreclosure is like running a marathon, coming to the end of it, you lose all your wind, but at least you survived to tell the tales. Just pick up what left back and carry on your torch. Look for new adventures because it doesnot have to be that way again. You learn from your experience and remember life goes on.

© Copyrighted by Annmarie Edwards 2008

Who links to me?

How to be an entrepreneur

Dear Readers,

Becoming an entrepreneur is a challenge by itself. If you want to know about people and their culture check out the different cultural foods. Foods are lens to cultural understanding. If you want to glean more about people and their culture attend a family dinner and observe the interaction amongst family members.

What is the new twist of looking at an issue? The word "And" is futuristic and encourages dialog. The word "but" put you backward. It is a word in transition. How do you find your evolution? It is up to you to explore this phenomenon.

In order to become centered and evolved, one must remain unattached and uncommitted to any one ideology. The truth about reality cannot come through words, but only through direct experience. Whether seeking reality in relationship, in a government, or in a universe, it can only be known with the intuitive mind (R. L. Wing, The Tao of Power).

The Law of The Higher Potential by Robert Collier offers insight on how to access your hidden potential by being in a state of gratitude. Collier stated that we only attract to us what we think. Your minds play out exactly what you think. As humans, you are in control of your thoughts. Your emotions are like water, when disturb it has many effects. Emotions are something you have to get under control. Sometimes a simple wave hit you off your ground. One has to be grounded in the sense of not taking things too seriously in order to survive life's challenges. Therefore, to all, sow the seeds you want to reap and be open to receive.

About the author

Helping the downtrodden, worldwide, gain the ability to fend for themselves is an all-consuming passion of Mrs. Laughing Pants’ creator and alter ego, Annmarie Edwards.

Edwards is a published author, as well, having written “50 Ways to Maximize Your Potential,” “50 Tips to Energize Your Workforce,” “50 Proven Strategies to Maximize Your Job Search and Intuitive Creative Journal.”

http://mrslaughingpants.typepad.com/mrs_laughingpantsnewsstor/

© 2007 Mrs. Laughing Pants All Rights Reserved

A Call For Voters

Dear Readers,

We are in a very troubling time in our country. It is time to choose the right presidential candidate. The presidential debate focus has been negative. The press is more negative than positive. We are in a dwindling economy. Some people are crying out "recession." We have to ask what is the real deal? Will a rebate check add stimulus to the economy? Is money here is the root of our problem? It is a time for change. We have to take stock of where we are and where we want to go. See you next time.

Being A Celebrity On The Other Side

Dear Readers,

You wonder why celebrities make it in life? For example, doing something completely opposite to what you're use to doing. I had the opportunity to work in the service industry something far remote from teaching and training people. In this position I was able to interact more with people on a daily basis. When I mentioned to customers my career background they were alarmed. The question asked was what are you doing here? Like something is wrong with the job for heaven's sake.!

The problem is in our society people look down on blue collar jobs. As a leader I see a job as job. There is always some learning experience you can take from the job you do. Remember that. Additionally, doing a job that is completely different from your mainstream job will arm you with more working expereince you didnot have before. You're now in a position to see things more broadly when situation presents itself. As a leader, one has to experience different situations to be able to connect to people. You've to come off your laurel at times to get the experience. This will help you to function at your peak performance in stressing times.

Well thats all for now. Stay tuned for being a celebrity on the other side.

Dear Readers,

Today I want to talk to you about "Secrets of Becoming a Celebrity." Is this a daunting task or what? Do you have what it takes to be a celebrity? Everybody wants to be a celebrity these days, a kind of understatement. What are the traits of a true celebrity?

1. A true celebrity must be size one or zero for laughing out loud. How many celebrities do you know who are anorexic?

2. A celebrity must be photogenic. Must look good in the camera even if it is fake, eye lashes and big lips. If you don't have fake eyebrows, eyes lashes, and big lips you're not saying anything. Oops! I forgot big breasts and but. Oops! What am I thinking?

3. A true celebrity must be able to sun bathe for hours in the sun drinking martini.

4. A true celebrity must be able to fly around the globe twenty times non-stop in one day.

5. A true celebrity must be president for a day. After all responsibility and accountability is central. Look at all the publicity a celebrity is getting.

6. A true celebrity must give all their earnings to charity. After all the celebrity don't need this money because being a celebrity is forever.

7. A true celebrity must be able to live in a zoo for a day with all the animals tigers and all. That is the real life of a celebrity.

Anything new you want to share? I got pricked by one of the weeds ouch! There are still more to pull. I had some other weeds that I got pulled today that I tried to avoid. I had to face these weeds heads on and pull them out. It was something that bothered me. You get the gist. I did a favor for someone who was unappreciated. Instead of thanking me for what I did the individual just slammed the favor in my face. I was hurt and shocked at his behavior.

Readers you have to be careful of whom you do favor for. Sometimes the favor calls for putting your credibility on the line. You have to think about that if it worth it. After everything is said and done you're stuck with some ungrateful people. What happened to what you did? Is it all for nothing? Just be careful of doing favors.

So now you hear from me... So what about you? Have you done anything in the past that got thrown in your face? Let me know. For now take care and keep the thoughts coming.
