Interparfums FY 2022: record earnings as operating profit soars 33 percent

THE WHAT? Interparfums has reported its results for the 2022 fiscal year. The fragrance giant recorded record earnings for the full year with net income up 40 percent on 2021’s figures and sales rising 26 percent to €706.6 million.

THE DETAILS The company noted that it had extended its partnership with Montblanc until December 31, 2030 and, subject to the General Meeting’s ratification, hit its goal of achieving gender parity on its board.

THE WHY? Philippe Benacin, Chairman and CEO, commented, “Against the backdrop of a turbulent economic and geopolitical environment, our sales and earnings continued to grow in 2022. In 2023, although many uncertainties still exist, this positive momentum should continue with sales expected to reach €750 million, driven by the continuing appeal of our brands for consumers in a global perfume market that remains buoyant.”

THE WHAT? Total pay for S&P Chief Executives continues to rise, according to a report titled 100 Most Overpaid CEOs published by As You Sow. The median pay was US$23,455,188 – up 8 percent year-on-year.

THE DETAILS CEO pay is not only on the rise but also increasing faster than employee pay with those at the top receiving 324 times that of their median paid workers on average, up from 299 times in 2020, the study reveals. At Amazon, the CEO to worker pay ratio hit 6,474 to 1.

The Estee Lauder Companies’ Fabrizio Freda was named as the second most overpaid CEO in the ranking. The US prestige beauty giant has the dubious accolade of being the only cosmetics firm listed in the Most Overpaid CEOs top 10.

THE WHY? Robert Reich, Co-founder of Inequality Media, commented, “A company’s executive compensation directly reflects its directors’ priorities and outlook: You can tell if a company is committed to building a sustainable future by how it pays its CEO. The continuous, exorbitant increases in executive compensation over the past four decades typify a rigged system that benefits the wealthy at the expense of workers, and the rest of us. Shareholders must supervise boards more effectively than directors have been supervising CEOs. The solution is voting on proxy statements and taking each vote seriously.”

Humane Society International welcomes Brazil’s animal testing ban

THE WHAT? The Humane Society International has praised regulators for South America’s largest beauty market for ushering in a partial ban on animal testing for cosmetics. Brazil’s National Council for the Control of Animal Experimentation has outlawed animal testing for beauty ingredients with ‘known effects’ and provided for alternative testing methods for ‘unknown ingredients’.

THE DETAILS The solution is partial as the agency does not have legal jurisdiction to restrict the marketing of cosmetics that have been tested on animals but a federal bill that purports to end animal testing for cosmetics in Brazil has cleared the Senate and is awaiting approval by the Chamber of Deputies, HIS said.

THE WHY? Humane Society International Government Affairs Specialist in Brazil, Antoniana Ottoni, commented, “We are thrilled to see our efforts come to fruition after a decade of campaigning resulting in state bans and federal progress. This new Brazilian norm is a welcome next step in the right direction and something for which we have long advocated. However, a domestic testing ban on its own will not prevent the import and sale of newly animal-tested cosmetics from other countries. This will put our personal care industry at a competitive disadvantage, and fall short of the cruelty-free beauty sector that Brazilian consumers have made clear that they want. For this reason, our work to secure a federal law must continue, and we look forward to working with the Chamber of Deputies to build on this positive momentum to see a federal law in place this year.”

Halle Bailey just marked another major milestone in her journey as a Disney Princess.

The 22-year-old actress, who plays Ariel in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1989 animated classic The Little Mermaid, took to Instagram Monday to gush over the doll version of her character as the red-headed mermaid.

“I have something really exciting to reveal to you all. I’m gonna cry,” Halle said in the Instagram video.

“This is the new Little Mermaid doll!! I’m literally choking up because this means so much to me. And to have one that looks like me, that’s my favorite Disney character, is very surreal.”

And look, she even has my mole! See?” she continued.

The Ariel doll also has the same red hair and tail that Halle Bailey sports in the movie.

“And the hair, and the tail…I’m just stunned, so I don’t quite know what to do with it, but I’m gonna steal this and take it home.”

Halle’s post was met with excitement and congratulatory messages. “IM BUYING 100 OF THEM!!!” wrote her sister, Chloe Bailey.

Late last year, Halle opened up in an interview with E! News about shaking up the pressure she initially felt to do the character justice for her younger self and the Little Mermaid fans.

“I think that before I started filming, I did feel some nerves naturally because the film is so important to so many people,” she said.

“The fact that all these little Black and Brown babies are going to be able to feel like they’re being represented is really special to me. I know that if I had that when I was younger, it would have changed a whole lot for me and my perspective on who I am as an individual.”

According to TMZ Drew Sidora will be serving hot tea on her divorce for the upcoming season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”.

Producers brought cameras out again to capture the fallout from her explosive allegations.

Production sources told TMZ … ‘RHOA’ fans will get all the scoop on Drew’s contentious divorce from Ralph Pittman, despite the fact group shoots for the upcoming 15th season wrapped back in January.

We’re told producers started rolling on new confessional interviews this week, with Drew talking all about what went down leading up to the split.

Our sources say production is also filming new confessionals with the other housewives … so you gotta imagine they all have strong feelings and reactions to Drew’s split.

As for Ralph fans won’t be hearing from him.

He hasn’t filmed anything — with Drew or solo — talking about the split.

Interestingly, we’re told Drew and Ralph are still living under the same roof … possibly for the sake of their two children.

We reported last week, that both parties raced to the court to file, with Drew winning by 61 minutes before Ralph entered his plea.

Drew’s original filing made no mention of Ralph’s alleged infidelity or abuse. She amended her divorce petition after learning Ralph had, surprisingly, filed docs of his own.

The formula is described as having "vivid" color in "one effortless stroke" with "comfortable" wear for six hours. It had a smooth, creamy consistency that was lightweight, moderately emollient, and comfortable to apply and to wear. The formula delivered mostly opaque to full color coverage in one layer, as marketed, though six-hour wear was the aspect it didn't live up to.

It felt like a typical, creamy lipstick formula (I don't say that in a bad way!) so it not lasting six hours wasn't a surprise, but most shades wore well for four hours and were moisturizing while worn. The lipstick applied evenly for the most part, had a more luminous finish (both shine and pearl), and wore for four hours in most cases. The formula felt hydrating while worn.

The biggest downside was the slim packaging only accommodated 0.05 oz. of product, whereas traditional lipsticks contain around 0.10 oz. on average.
