Alibaba reveals new driver-less delivery bot

Unlike its car vending machine concept, Alibaba's ideas for robots have been more ordinary and mainly restricted to warehouses (the same kind that Amazon uses). But today, the Chinese eCommerce titan introduced a package-delivering 'bot that uses LiDAR to navigate around. The package locker it carries uses facial credit to make sure it's got the right receiver before bursting open its doors.

The G Plus, as it's called, is being developed with Chinese company RoboSense. The robotics group lends its LiDar technology to the robot, which uses it for the same reason as self-driving cars: To create a 3D map of its surroundings and avoid obstacles. The G Plus is basically a delivery locker on wheels, capable of carrying packages and food at a sedate (and pedestrian-friendly) pace, maxing its speed at less than ten miles per hour and reducing it to just over six if there are people or cars around.

In a press release, Alibaba and Robosense pushed the G Plus as a reduced cost option compared to cars or delivery trucks, as well as being easier to mass-produce. The company is testing the unmanned vehicle on roads around its headquarters in Hangzhou and expects to begin building them by the end of 2018.

Google launches solar power service in UK

UK homeowners can now verify how much cash they would save by installing solar panels on their roofs. Google has just released a new tool, in collaboration with power supplier Eon. It's called Project Sunroof, and it uses data from Google Earth and Google Maps to find out how much power a house could save with solar panels.

The principle is simple – by using data from these two platforms, as well as from weather data, it can calculate how much sun a roof is getting all over the day, and use that data to come up with an estimate.

The tool is not the first of its kind, though, with both Ikeas and Tesla having similar ones already operational. However, these tools required homeowners to supply extra data, like the shape of their roofs, or their homes.

Google says it can get rid of these steps with the help of Maps and Earth.

Project Sunroof 'minor the fences' for homeowners, with the help of Maps and Earth, says Jonathan Marshall, head of analysis at the non-profit organisation Power and Climate Intelligence Unit.

I use a mixture of baking soda and water on some days, and use the lemon juice on others, as I don’t want to overuse it.

Several teaspoons of baking soda
Enough lemon juice or water to form a paste
A toothbrush

Directions

Mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid affecting the coating. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes.

Note: You can use the paste after you have brushed your teeth at night if you prefer.

Is this remedy going to guarantee comically white teeth within a week? No. You may start to see a difference, but it won’t be as instant as the commercial products. In the end, will your teeth be so white people peek when you open your mouth? No. And I like it better that way. I’ve found that since using these my teeth are really whiter, my mouth overall feels healthier and it doesn’t look like I bleached the life out of myself.
