New Fairy Serenity

2011-11-25T23:56:00.000-08:00

I have the hardest time creating these posts here. The format never comes out. I apologise and promise to work on it.

Here is the link to my newest auction. She has something my soul is seriously lacking right now, serenity. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120818396458

December Fairy

A little fairy I sculpted in December. :-)

Brian Froud Inspired Pixie Mushroom Sculpture

2011-01-19T19:03:00.000-08:00

I don't normally do commissions. But I was contacted by a wonderful woman who wanted me to sculpt her a brian froud drawing for her grandchildren. She was so nice, and I felt so inspired by the picture she chose that I decided to give it a go.

This is the original picture I was supplied with.

A size comparison

My little mushrooms face :-)

As a work in progress, prior to painting and wiggings and costuming

Little pixie guy all done.

Commission work progress

2010-11-08T07:25:00.001-08:00

As a general rule I don't take on commissions. I just like to be able to do whatever I feel like doing in hopes that somebody might like it. But I was approached by a new collector (new to me) to do a doll. I'm not sure I can do it but I'm going to give it a go.

Random Thoughts

2010-11-08T07:09:00.000-08:00

Wow! I had no idea that it had been months since I posted here. There really isn't enough time to keep up with everything. I can't remember the last time I just sat down and thought to myself "I have nothing to do." My todo list is always a mile long. And growing by the minute.

My latest three girls.

I "was learned" a new word recently. Rococo. It seems to fit well enough.

Apparently, fufu wasn't doing it for one person in particular.

Another new thing for me...COLOR! I am afraid of color. I love it but have found that if not done masterfully color can make stuff like what I make appear cheap and gawdy. So I've always shied away from it. I've stuck to monotone themes and been very careful to use neutrals so as not to overwhelm the senses.

Crawling outside my comfort zone with use of purples and lime greens or violets with pale yellows has been a bit exciting for me. I have a lilac and fushia that I want to work with next. Material and ribbons and lace all set aside.

New Fairy for Sale

2010-02-18T19:44:00.000-08:00

My newest fairy girl. Cindy reminded me so much of a Cinderella type of doll. As a sculpture she just emerged from the clay with such a spirit of happy playfulness. She has a soft smile and tiny little sculpted teeth. She is completely handsculpted from polymer clay without the use of molds or sculpting aids. She was then baked to manufactures directions. Hand painted and blushed for realistic skin colors and tones. Her eyes are a light blue and trimmed with real eyelashes. The dress is non removable and made from tulle, ribbons, gorgeous lace and tiny sparkling tid bits.
Cindy measures about 4 inches in her seated position so she is a real life sized fairy. Her wings are a magical work of art made by Terry Thomas the brilliant Dark Faery artist.
