Some homes simply beckon you to come inside. This one by Pamela Pierce Design certainly beckons us...

And, just as we expected, when we "stepped" across the threshold, this one didn't disappoint. We love everything about this kitchen. The steel windows, the stainless island, the bull over the window. It's the kind of place we can see ourselves procuring fresh herbs and whipping up a culinary masterpiece. (You know, theoretically.)

There's nothing we love more than mealtime, and it's always better when it's spent with family and friends. The picnic table and open shelves with a sophisticated air give this dining area that unique combination of laid back and chic.

This whole house feels like a spaaaaahhhhh! We used to be convinced that every floor needed an area rug, but we're changing our minds left and right. This room is a perfect example of how bare floors can feel light, bright and, most important, clean.

We don't have to tell you that we're wild for neutrals. And the pops of fresh green contribute to the organic feel.

We are short of breath over this room. The simple furniture, reclaimed floors and stunning doors are positively jaw dropping.

A mix of old and new is really the only way to go when designing a home.

These indoor shutters are an amazing way to make the room feel sparse yet finished. And you know we are all about a canopy bed!

Chandelier + Marble + Clawfoot tub = Dream bathroom.

We're big twin bed fans anyway, but these might be the most fabulous we've seen. This house makes us wonder why we ever, ever feel like we need to spice up our neutrals. These pictures make us feel like we can take a deep breath!

Sometimes that all-important outdoor living room can be filled with little-thought, seemingly forgotten pieces. Not here. This gorgeous patio blends seamlessly with the rest of the home.

Nothing lends that "I've been here forever" feel live ivy-covered walls. Funny because we'd have no problem being here forever! We hope you have a wonderful day!

Do you ever just have one of those days? I mean, of course you do. Well, WE had one of those days yesterday in a big way. It started with a rather large check being sent to the wrong address and being deposited by some random stranger and ended with... Deleting the last 100 comments on our blog. On to the real news of the day... This awesome Belk Farm tour.

My hubby Will sent this to me via Garden and Gun, and I totally fell in love.

We love the simplicity of this kitchen. The open shelves, the simple, white china...

The island that can easily seat a large family for casual dining.

But, then again, what's a farmhouse without a farm table? We think the tolix barstools and chairs add continuity here.

This simple flax bedding is perfect for the farm. No muss, no fuss and looks even better with a hint of a wrinkle.

No farmhouse would be complete without a few animals. These goats are adorable! Plus, we love the idea of a bunch of little ones brushing their teeth side-by-side before running to play in the great outdoors.

The crispness of these white towels against the rustic dark of the wood is truly one of those pleasures in life that take your breath away with their utter simplicity.

We're sure we've mentioned how much we'd like to have our very own chicken coop. Plus, you can't get up with the rooster if you can't hear it crow!

This is so picturesque. Talk about the perfect place to watch your corn pop up in rows!

What a magnificent view! Add a cup of hot tea, a good friend and some sweet little ones splashing around and this is the perfect day. Oh, goodness. Give us the simple life...

Today's the big day, everyone! One of our very lucky friends is going to win a $100 gift card for the fixture of their choice at the fabulous Rejuvenation.

We wish we could show you the gorgeously rejuvenated hallway and adjacent rooms where we hung our precious fixture. Only, you know when nine months of a renovation have gone off without a hitch, that happens to be the exact time that: Things. Fall. Apart. In the grand scheme, it isn't that serious, but the tile in the bathroom was wrong. (On so, so many levels!) So the entire suite had to be put on hold because the tear-out created dust, dust, dust. And, as we all know, dust and art don't mix well. And... the electricity was off so that no one got electrocuted during sconce installation.

At any rate, finished space or no, we adore the fixture there. It's the perfect mix of old-world feel with a modern twist -- and just a touch of black! The brushed nickel top blends beautifully with the bathroom fixtures. And, don't worry, when the doors are replaced and the second-floor porch finished, we will have corresponding knobs!

One Light, Four Ways

We are so excited this week because we have the awesome opportunity to work with Rejuvenation and three fabulous bloggers to design a pendant light and then use it in a room we are working on! The even better news? Next Monday, when we reveal the design of our light, we are also giving away a $100 Rejuvenation gift card for YOU to use on anything your little heart desires! Yay! If you aren't familiar with Rejuvenation, they are the lighting arm of the Williams-Sonoma/Pottery Barn family, and are stuffed to the gills with incredible lighting!

We have this tricky little hallway in the Beaufort house that we need the perfect fixture for... So this couldn't have come at a better time!

Just to orient you to the space, the hall is in between the upstairs (soon-to-be) master bath...

And the upstairs master bedroom. The entire area is that great spatial white color that we are so excited about, so we've narrowed our pendant colors down to something in the chrome, aluminum, stainless family, glass, frosted glass or maybe some sort of cool lantern look that will go with the age of the house.

It's all ready and waiting for just the right light. We're pretty excited about the reveal because this hallway is very important. It leads to the second-floor porch, so it's sure to get tons of traffic. We're hoping by next week the cardboard will the gone, the pictures will be hung, and, most important, we'll have a chic centerpiece in the form of the perfect light. So, what would your vision for this space be? Something shiny? A dull steel? Glass? So many great options!

A far departure from the usual, brand new construction we see in ideahouses, this was a renovation of the historic kind. Did we mention it's a farmhouse? Is there anything better than that? It's modern yet classic, clean and streamlined yet undeniably charming. It combines the best of both worlds, a perfect representation of the new old house. It's so easy to be intimidated by too much pattern, but doesn't it add such a fun feel to a space?

Then again... there is something soothing about that classically neutral palette.

Here is one of those delicious canopy beds we want to sink into... Can't wait to get one of my own!

This color palette is so fabulous. The bright blue contrasts beautifully with this deep brown.

We adore a pink and brown color scheme too. Paired with a deep shade, pink is a perfect pick for any age.

Here's another incredible example of that layering of patterns.

Sigh... And, yet again, crisp white with a splash of blue is the ultimate scheme for a soothing bubble bath.

In a small space like this half bath it's crucial to make every square inch count!

There's no room a fabulous piece of art can't bring together.

We would never ever have thought of putting these colors together. But, then again, we weren't in House Beautiful...

Worlds Away

Good morning, friends! We hope you all had an amazing weekend. We had a great time at the High Point Furniture Market. It's always fun to see what's new! One of our favorite vendors is always Worlds Away. At October's market, we picked this fabulous Worlds Away bar cart for the Beaufort house. We think it's going to go in the dining room, but the entrance hall is also a possibility.

We think they're beautiful no matter how you style them, but, for our purposes, our bar cart is going to be -- well -- a bar!

We like the type of set up where the glasses are included, so everyone can sip in style with no trips to the kitchen!

Having a cutting board right on the bar cart is genius! No cocktail -- or Perrier -- is complete without a fresh squeeze of lemon or lime!

We'd never thought of using magazines as part of our bar cart decor. National Geographic makes a great conversation starter too!

One of the things we saw everywhere at market were vases with a few banana leaves. We love the look on a table. Why not a bar cart?

Few places on earth compare to Palm Beach when it comes to fabulous, over-the-top design.

But, if loud colors and bamboo furniture everywhere you look are all you equate with Palm Beach style, think again.

This stunning Palm Beach place is crisp, clean and even a little subdued at times.

This neutral palette with pops of blue is, to us, the ultimate in soothing shore decor. And we love the bamboo silverware.

These chairs are so pretty and add such a delicate feel to the room. We're big fans of dark floors for contrast against a white table and chairs. Plus, bare dining room floors are just practical. Easy sweeping!

It really is those thoughtful touches that take a morning meal from simple to sublime.

Fresh vegetables are always a part of a well-appointed kitchen, ready for laid-back entertaining.

Twin beds are so chic, from kid's rooms to guest rooms.

We love a chaise, but a comfy chair with ottoman can be just as good.

We have Boston on the brain today, and we're sure all of you do, as well. We are thinking of all the marathoners, families and Bostonians who were affected by the bombing and hope that all is well with all of you!

On a brighter Boston note, there are so many beautiful things in that great city.

Faneuil Hall... Boston Common... And, of course, the gorgeous work of Gerald Pomeroy Design Group.

It's that sweet, sweet time in North Carolina, those couple of weeks in between freezing cold and sweltering heat, where all we want to do is be outside!

Since we're (supposedly) a matter of weeks away from the big Beaufort move-in -- yes, we know, we said supposedly -- it's time to tackle the big remaining question mark in our design scheme: front porch furniture.

We plan on spending hours upon hours lounging and enjoying the fresh air and water.

As a result, the furniture needs to be super comfortable.

We're leaning towards black with white cushions because we always think a splash of black against a white clapboard home is beautiful.
