I suppose it could be worse. Just thonk of those not having a Christmas...the homeless, those losing a loved one, natural diaster and war victims. Guess there's still hope, I'm praying so.

Care Of Poor People/Abatha Ministries

I hope to get the ministry (Abatha) incorporated by Christmas so I can help Richard Tripp's organization and quite a few others. Both giveaways for Richard Tripp's Care of Poor People were really bummers because they weren't indoor as usual and funds were low. The last one almost didn't happen. The man's been doing this for the poor and homeless for the last 29 YEARS, let's not let him down now. (www.coppinc.com if you'd like to help).

New Mass

I like the old one much better. "Christ has died, Christ has risen, Chist will come again" should have never been removed. That's the foundation for the very existence of the church. It's why we do what we do!

Shame on you!
Help the needy and it'll come back to you! I personally promise you. The place will only be needed for Thanksgiving week. Ideal would be a capacity of about 1500-2000. Closed churches or school buildings, warehouses, retail stores like the old Katz Drug Store on Westport Road @ Main? Must be within about 3 blocks of The Metro (mass transit). Wake up folks. None of the homeless ever believed they'd be that way till too late. It even happened to me that way.

If you can provide a building to meet these needs please contact Richard Tripp @:
Phone (816) 920.6119 or 918.9239
E-mail:Richardgtripp@yahoo.com
Website: coppinc.com.

Oh; did I fail to mention that Care Of Poor People is a 501(c)3 organization. So you can write the value of the "rent" off of next year's taxes?

Abatha Ministries WILL BE incorporated again by December!

The first tasks will be to try to get Care Of Poor People a permanent home in one of the closed school buildings. Kansas City Missouri Public School District has at least 20 left. We're trying to get Richard Tripp ONE OF 'EM...and preferribly before arsonists get to the rest like they did at Thacher and Manchester schools. For over 27 years he's operated without a building but with the higher number of needy folks these days, operating a non-profit (even a small one) without a building is virtually impossible if they serve the general public. The New Abatha Ministries can do it only because we cater strictly to other non-profits -not the guy on the street. Look for the petition between now and Christmas. Other tasks include trying to help get a rural Missouri homeless shelter (WDAF tv-FOX channel 4.1 did a story on them earlier this year) reopened and possibly get a wind turbine to help Holy Family Catholic Worker House benefit from alternative energy. They help tons of folks and the utility bills are high. No we haven't told them yet, it's gonna be a surprise.

1968-2011

It's ashamed that the State of Georgia executes such an innocent person. I suppose we ought to forgive this state government for their racism! Most excecutions of innocent people happen to Blacks and Latinos. Even the United Nations tried to stop this murder by government officals without success.

It's ashamed that AngelFood Ministries has to go away. They helped millions across the United States. Let this be a lesson on why we must help those who help the needy when we can. Not everybody can do this, but for those who can, I say go for it. Just because you don't need it now doesn't mean it won't help you in the future. Many mistakenly thing that non-profits get everything for free. That's far from the truth. They have to pay utilies, maintence, taxes {although generally a reduced amount}, in this case distribution, and other costs. Now do you see why I pitch stuff such as Richard Tripp's Care Of Poor People organization?AngelFood was indeed America's best value in grocery even beating out the big ones who save us tons of money each year; such as Save-a-Lot, Aldi, and Piggly Wiggly. Lot's of families depended on it. Here's what the organization said about their dilema:

Angel Food Ministries has considered many options regarding our future. At this time we regret to inform you that we have not found a solution that will allow Angel Food Ministries to continue to distribute food on a monthly basis and have decided to cease operations. We realize the pressure that this places on our host sites, community food banks and customers.

However, there is a group of former employees and food vendors that are working to find a better way of serving those who have come to depend on Angel Food.

Unfortunately many if not all other food ministries have gone out of business in recent years. Angel Food has not been immune from the same economic and market conditions that led to the loss of other food ministries. It’s important to note that in the past we never relied on donations; less than 1% of annual revenues have come from donations. We are grateful that we have been able to help tens of millions of customers save hundreds of millions of dollars in food costs. We also are grateful to have been able to return about $24 million to our church host sites and other partner organizations.

With the help of our volunteer staff 98 percent of the thousands of customers who placed an order for September have already received a full refund. We continue to work with the USDA to credit the remaining 59 customers who used their SNAP benefits to place a September order. Federal regulations prohibit us from simply sending them a check for a full refund.

The USDA/SNAP officials have been very helpful in seeing to it that these refunds are taking place in an orderly fashion. Those who placed orders through their local host sites will need to contact that site directly for a full refund.

We are comforted by the thousands of comments we have received expressing support for Angel Food Ministries and the great need to continue helping those in need. We at Angel Food Ministries are truly heartbroken to have to cease operations but it has not compromised our faith in God or our commitment to helping those in need.

Please check this website often for the latest information. Thank you for your prayers, faithfulness and your commitment to Angel Food Ministries over these past 17 years.
It is my prayer that there's something similar started soon. Perhaps maybe it can be a restart like Abatha Ministries is becoming. Or maybe a bunch of various regional food banks such as Harvesters (serving Missouri & Kansas) can get together and start something similar.
Yes I founded this organization in 1985 in memory of my dad. I hope to reincarsonate it before the end of the year after a absence. I had to shut the original down in late 2008. The idea is to help the non-profits that help others rather than the needy directly. I hope I'm more successful this time. The first agenda is to try and persuade the Kansas City Missouri School District to donate one of the 27 school buildings they shut down recently. Most are in good shape. Since the district finally lost accredidation with the State of Missouri, their school board can do a final good deed for the community by donating one building to Care Of Poor People.
I'll let you know more details in the coming weeks. Richard Tripp has run Care Of Poor People for over 30 years sans-building ("sans" is French for "without"). For the number of people he's helped over the years; including myself, that's pretty ridiculous!

In case you haven't heard, a new mass is coming for Catholics, to both the United States, in Hungary, and quite possibly around the world. It's the Roman Missal 3rd edition. Some things will be missing such as "Christ has Died,. Christ has Risen Christ will come again." In addition there will be modification to the Nicene and Apostle Creeds. The Idea is not to change the meaning so much as the format. In the 1970's, many church buildings were converted to an "open design". Gone were the confession booths replaced by confession rooms which weren't nearly as private. St James' congregation @ 39th & Harrison here in Kansas City, wanted to keep it's historic altar, but it had to go...Bishop's Orders! Now it's getting a lot more personal as the chages are made to the way we worship. The current mass is about 40 years old. In that time a lot of people have memberized it. Now change is coming starting with the advent service this year. The bad news is many cradle and devout Catholics feel "railroaded by the church". New-commers tend to think that the church is moving backwards. Luckily, at least Pope Benedict isn't forcing us to take Latin lessons to learn what we're praying. Many older parish buildings had stained glass windows and endless statutes. This is because most churches gave the entire mass in Latin. They HAD TOO. What the Vatican says goes (this is where these changes in 2011 were also mandated), To my knowage there are 4 Catholic faiths and many cousins. Only the biggest one (about 75% of the Catholics) will have to change. This is the Roman Catholic Church.

The changes will not just be in the wording, but in the music as well. Only approved music can be used. So there's no pulling out the old missal and converting the tunes. It's just one of those things. Remember the People's Mass Book that used to be in Catholic Parishes and hospitals? They're rarely seen these days. In fact, in my early days of being a Lutheran Organist, I hid one in the church attic for my "secret use". When I became Catholic I requested special permission to continue playing organ for the Lutherans and luckily got it. Shortly after that, I started refering to myself as a "Lutheran-Catholic", an idenity I use to this day. Today, that People's Mass Book is still in that church, only it ain't hid no more. Another "Catholic" thing found in that Lutheran Church was several Copies of the Holy Bible with green covers...not any ol' version, the the old Saint Joseph's Version containing the Apocrypha books. While I'm not for sure I hear that this is a short-lived version that was only in use in the 1950's an 60's. They had to have been there since at least 1964. I shall note that back in those days anything Catholic in a Lutheran Church was a definite no-no! My guess is that either the Late Ida Taylor or Mr and Mrs Yancey brought 'em there and long since forgot about them. When the church was renovated I got me and Donna each one as a souvenir. Oh one more thing for me as church organist, I will be playing a Conn Organ now. But what will happen to the good old Hammond?, It'll be in my apartment {probably within this next month}.

When I began as the 5th organist to play it regularly back in 1998 (and eventhough Dorothy Newman came back out of retirement to play music with me on occasion, I'm still the official organist to this day for that church), I never dreamed that I'd eventually end up owning it. That's the work of the Lord for you. Oh yeah, did I mention that it was a old MT-100 model... the

good Hammond, not the ones they make by Suzuki today which still are great but not nearly as good as the originals from the first Hammond Organ Company, which ironically went under the same year I got a GED in 1985 (illegaly; but not knowing it at the time, I ended up getting a real high school dipoloma the following year). I can't be totally hard on the Suzuki folks, hey; I've been tryin' to get my hands on one of those Omnichords for years!

One more thing in 2017, Catholics and Lutherans may be able to openly have Eucharist with each other, 500 years after the separation. They've already agreed on santity. (in case I have it spelled wrong...how one is saved) These two churches have been at war for years. The first attempt recently was the Anglican Lutheran Catholic Church denomination. A group of angry Missouri Synod Lutheran Congregations. While not officially sanctioned by the Vatican yet. They went back to using the Hail Mary and stuff like that.

(adding a 28th admendment to the Constitution)

For those of you who are American citizens, I hope you write Congress in support of this bill. They should be subject to the same regulations as the rest of us. If a law is not good enough for them to follow, it's not good for us as citizens either! It's time for us to get the Congressional Reform Act of 2011 passed. While I'm sharing this e-mail with you, I'm not revealing who sent it to me under any circumstances so please don't ask. I'll just refer to her as "Lady E.". Ok here it is:

This will not be passed unless the people demand it and consistently make it an issue; keep in mind who must make it happen. It should be a simple matter if there is commitment. This forwarded e-mail is cleaned from all other forwarded names, sent to you in hopes you will keep it going and keep it cleaned. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year olds) took only 3 months and 8 days to be ratified because the people demanded it. That was in 1971 before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, 7 took 1 year or less to become the law of the land, all because of public pressure. I'm asking each addressee to forward this e-mail to a minimum of 20 people on their address list and contact their congressional leadership (Senators/House Representatives); in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In 3 business days, most people in the USA will have the message and hopefully acted. Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. No tenure/no pension.A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present and future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12.The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career.

The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work. If each person contacts a minimum of 20 people then it will only take 3 days for most people in the U.S. to receive the message. Maybe it is time. This is how we can fix Congress. If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete. Please keep it going.

There's so many different addresses and e-mails for Congress depending on where you reside in the United States or it's territories. The web URL below will connect you with them all.

Father Steve was the head pastor of my parish and Terry was my RCIA teacher. Steve is going to Houston, Texas and Father Terry is going to New Orleans where they need all the help they can get. They will be sorrowfully missed at my parish Redemptorist and I wish them the best. It got me to thinking about change. When I started this blog in 2007, I was in RCIA, actaully I began it a few months before that. Most of the talk was about the saints and rituals. These days I speak more for the right of the poor than ever before. You bet the blog is still Catholic, but it's changed more to the Dorothy Day side. She's the one that started the Catholic Worker Movement, which includes the houses. The publication that began it all Catholic Worker is still around and amazingly still sells for a penny a copy for this newspaper. Oh yeah, unlike this blog, it's NOT ONLINE [at least the actual paper isn't], so for more info go to http://www.catholicworker.org/ or here it is directly from their website word for word in the help section.

"The Catholic Worker newspaper is not online. Subscription or copy requests must be sent by regular mail to The Catholic Worker, 36 East First Street, New York, NY 10003, United States. Phone: 212-777-9617. The newspaper was started by Dorothy Day herself in New York City in the 1930s'. The price has been and will remain a penny a copy, excluding mailing costs. It is issued seven times per year and a year's subscription is available for 25 cents (30 cents for foreign subscriptions), though all donations in excess of that amount go to the hospitality houses associated with the paper, Maryhouse and St. Joseph House."

Let's not forget Holy FAmily House helps thousands each year and they got me in the RCIA classes and supported me all the way. Their website is at http://www.holyfamilycwhouse.org/p/about-holy-family-house.html. This is one of 3 Catholic Worker houses here in Kansas City. The other 2 are Cherith Brook and the Shalom House in neighboring Kansas City, Kansas. I think the helping the poor thang is important here at Proud to be Catholic because the Catholics and their wannabees [don't feel bad] are among the ones most likely to act towards finding a solution. Keep in mind I was no cradle Catholic, I wasn't born into this church, but her message about peace and treating the poor fairly was in my bones long before I belonged to a parish.

Here's to billions for Bob Barker!!!!!!

<img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-go658a8dxZI/Ti23PDpL-0I/AAAAAAAAASQ/U-AevnCsrVs/s1600/bob.JPG" t$="true" />He was a excellent game show host and who we think of when "Bob Barker" is mentioned. But is he the one???

NO, NO, NOT that guy, But the one with the logo below!

<img border="0" src="https://www.bobbarker.com/web/images/header_01.jpg" t$="true" />

Yeah, the other Bob Barker. He makes billions each year from the world's largest mental health provider, the United States Penal System. It's a big network of detention centers throughout the United States from city and county jails to penetentaries and supermaxes. He sells everything for penal institutions except for the bricks and mortar. Unless you either work for his company or the system, the only way to use his goods is by getting locked up. If the homeless gets the stuff, it's usually because a jail over-ordered, but even that's unlikely these days as most excess is either transported to other lock-ups or destroyed and recycled. Here's the thing, you're paying for this stuff everytime you pay your taxes. Yet it seems like America's cure for helping the poor is to give Bob here even more money and build more jails. Hey if I'm gonna buy the stuff, why can't I have some of the items for my apartment. It's a lot easier {for even at my income} to purchase a locomotive complete with engine, caboose, and railcars than it is to buy a toothbrush from Bob Barker. Yet we give tons of money for poor and homeless people outside this nation (and food and clothing, and hygine).

For the ones at home there's always the $17.25 a piece cereal bowls at the local pookey. Of course the homeless have many a use with Bob Barker's products. They get arrested all the time, and usually for petty shit such as sleeping too long on a park bench or near the railroad tracks (Union Pacific has had a grudge against the homeless for years). Arrests also occur for stealing a candy bar cause they can't afford a meal and taking a leak behind the dumpster because public restrooms are for paying customers only! Perhaps we should give more to Richard Tripp and a little bit less to Bob Barker! There's nothing wrong with giving to world-wide causes like Child Fund and Amesty International, but when we forget the ones here, we're not helping ourserves. How the rest of the world looks at our nation depends a lot on how we treat our own poor. Another way to help the poor here in our native land is standing up for the programs that help the poor and homeless. When it comes to health, that's exactly what's going on at:

<img border="0" height="70px" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0pFVvzlpPkg/Ti2vVWhzEzI/AAAAAAAAASM/135_RSl6hfI/s320/AARP.png" t$="true" width="320px" />

I'm not over 50 yet I pay close attention to these folks. Now I get SSI what they advocate really effects me eventhough I'm too young to join the organization. If you're a Senior or near that at 50 or more you need to get on the bandwagon to protect Social Security and Medicare (USA only). For those outside the USA, if your nation has similar government programs, you need to make sure they're protected from political corruption. An unneeded war [actually about 6 of them] along with tax breaks for the wealth 2% are a big part of the problem. They borrowed heavily from Social Security to pay for it. Prior to that Social Security was one of the most financially sound government agencies. Of course if you own a mansion and are an absentee farmer with thousands of acres for a big "farmer's" subsidy, you probably don't need the AARP, but for the rest of us, we need to join forces with them to protect Socal Security and Meidcare. Go to the link below, then if you live here in America, write or call your Congressional Representives and even President Obama to oppose this proposed cut to these services. This will help the poor and homeless by making sure that what's often their only source for paying for healthcare remains intact. For those of use who are Catholic I remind you that the Vatican (and even the branches not affiliated with Rome) takes preservation of human life very seriously!

Sounds like Saint Clare has been good to us, and I plan on saying this Novena on behalf of a concern I have myself. The last time I talked to Richard Tripp he had one major complaint about this blog and it was perfectly valid. His complaint was that there was no way contact via this blog. That was my fault and I take full blame for it. Perhaps I should've consulted with Saint Isidore, the Patron Saint for the Internet. Hey, I didn't even know we had one until I Goggled it up about an half-an-hour. We also share this saint with farmers. More info about this saint @ http://www.catholic-saints.info/patron-saints/patron-saint-of-internet.htm

When I started this in 2007, I never expected Proud to be a Cathotic Convert as it was known as then to get the readership it did or last this long. Of course "a" and the word "Convert" has since been dropped from the title and stuff like typesets, the logo, and color scheme have changed, but for a blog, this has stood the test of time. If I keep at it until NEXT summer, this blog will celebrate it's 5th anniversary. Considering that I didn't expect the blog to last I didn't do the effort for an e-mail and phone at first, then there were other events (including my homelessness in 2007-8 and the beginning part of 2009), and it just slipped my mind. The fact that many other blogs lack contact info didn't help, but they probably aren't nearly as big as mine has gotten over the past 4 years.

Again, another milestone, this blog now has a e-mail and voicemail box.

The phone number (voicemail) for this blog is

(858) 233-9542.

Keep in mind that my blog is produced here in Kansas City, Missouri where I'm also a resident (but if the folks at City Hall gets me mad as a hornet's nest enough it could always be moved to Kansas City, Kansas), but the voicemail is from the La Jolla/Del-Mar area of California, so unless you reside there or have a Magic Jack phone system hooked to your computer, it will probably be a toll call for you.

The email for this blog is ptbcblog@gmail.com .

Of course the "ptbc" stands for "Proud to be Catholic" and if you can get this posting, you can probably fire an e-mail. Unless you live in California or have free long-distance phone service I recommend you use the e-mail above rather than the phone number which is long distance even for me.

Let's not forget that you can still comment at the end of each post.

Now that I'm done with this post, the next thing I have planned is to add the e-mail address and phone number to the logo if I can [be good to me now]. Until next time, God Bless You here in America, and everywhere else!

Now there's the movie...and I'll be in it along with Donna and others. It's about Richard Tripp. There should have been a movie about him years ago! I urge you to click the link at the end of the posting. Learn about the movie and see the trailer. The when it comes out hopefully in September, watch it. Not only will you see me, but you'll see some of the homeless and working poor too.
I can attest personally that I live better than I used to. I'm no longer homeless. Featured in the film is some of the computers I use to type and make graphics for this blog along with some of my music writing. Not a single one is less than 10 years old. In the computer world it's "obsolete" after only 2 or 3 years. The black Compaq that appears to be failing apart the most in the film is also the main one of the 5. It's the most advanced of 'em all. There's also a Neosys (bought at auction)which will probably the internet access, Apple Mac (power PC) for some of the graphics, Packard-Bell for Magic Jack...the VOIP phone system [coming soon hopefully]as the cell phone is my only phone service currently, and IBM Aptiva [gosh how long has it been since they made those?], that have all lived past their prime and seen better days. It amazes me that I don't have a Commandore 64 up there yet! Then with no internet access, I have to upload the stuff along with anything I choose to add at the library or the computer lab at Penn Valley College. The coffeehouse I used to do it at can no longer afford public computers and like most enterpetnurships and independent businesses is struggling to stay afloat along with us working poor, homeless, and disabled.

You may even learn first hand why I pitch Richard Tripp's Care Of Poor People as one of the best organizations to get your charity dollars to in America. When I say a statement like that, I'm not kidding. There is no ad campaign for them, so don't count on a million dollars of commercials from COPP. We don't even see them aired here in Kansas City, except the occasional news story. When it came to the film, they approached him, not the other way around. Not only was the founder of COPP homeless at one time, it appears to be the same with the top officers. The best people to serve the homeless are those who been there.
When it comes to treatment in homeless shelters and the slop served in over 35% the soup kitchens nationwide, the "Christian" AND CORPORATE homeless INDUSTRY (at least those in it who aren't with the program)knows what they can do with themselves! Not all of 'em are bad, some do a spectacular job, yet too many do anything from a mediocre to downright lousy job. The worst part is they forget that many can't afford new vehicles (Personally I wish I could get my hands on a new Vespa), and some like a lady on the bus yesterday, I helped, can't even afford food an medicine. C'mon, us poor are just as human as the rich!
In fact soon I may be getting internet access at home after all; so I can post a little bit more here. In addition I will also be e-mailing press releases for COPP. No problem there, the more my equipment can help the poor and homeless community, THE BETTER!
This is an independent film, so why not help fund it if you can. Sure I'm in it among others, but the REAL STARS are those who help bring the message to the masses! America (and now really the world) needs to see this!
Here's the trailer
NOTE: I'm NOT in it. You have to view the actual movie to see me.

Here's the link if you wanna check it out: I know it's long but for those who have printed copies the Facebook link is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dynamic-Reflections-Videography/148433847315

<img border="0" height="41px" m$="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JS0gdJpJwas/Thy36eDFgpI/AAAAAAAAARk/e835CgdhoLE/s320/DynamicReflections_01.gif" width="320px" />

If you have a filming job to do, especially around Kansas City, you can also help the film get off by sharing some of your business with Dynamic Reflections Videography of Lee's Summit, Missouri. While this firm founded in 2008 does mostly weddings and commercials, if they're good enough to make this movie, chances are they can meet your needs too, and probably beyond expections. Their website is at http://www.dynamicreflect.com/DynamicReflections.asp

<img border="0" m$="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OVD5hOeh2CI/Thy4Pq0yH3I/AAAAAAAAARo/308XYiGDyoQ/s1600/copp%252520logo%2525202008.jpg" />

And of course I've pitched Richard's organization since what seems like Dinosaur days and then some...(that's because it's one of the best!) and it's web address is http://www.coppinc.com/
Amazingly the prediction never came true. People have predicted the end of the world almost since the beginning of time. Several efforts for this were around, including wecan know.com. The folks at FamilyRadio.com were big at this as you see their doomsday clock snapshot in the corner of this post thanks to Wikipedia Commons. By Monday, their website at familyradio.com was being getting and all the billboards were gone. I just wish my camberaphone was working at that time. They had these in several areas in Kansas City and around the world. For your Christian radio needs here in KC, I'd say stick with Bott or K-Love. At least they didn't predict the world's end prematurely. After all, it WILL eventually happen...but God says that no man knows the day or hour.
DOOMSDAY TRUCKS AND VANS ARE STILL AROUND

Joplin Issue
We can't use this as a means. The tornado would've happened even if the end of the world wasn't predicted. I do feel for those people and maybe they might become the next Greensboro, Kansas. The town was rebuild with solar and other earth-friendly methods. I do feel for those people though as they lost everything and I know it's hard considering I've been there myself. I will be putting time aside from my already crunched schedule to donate blood for the American Red Cross to help Joplin. Speaking of them, for what FamilyRadio.com [especially] and the others spent on the "doomsday", it would've been more than enough to rebuild the whole town of Joplin here in my home state of Missouri and probably Kansas City [where I live], Springfield, Branson, and St Louis had they had the calmity...and with plenty of money left over. The damage in Joplin alone was probably in the billions and a whole lot more dollars for the "doomsday" campaign. Those folks at Family Radio and the others really don't care! If they did and used the "doomsday account" for rebuilding Joplin, it'd definitely be real ministry! Perhaps it's time to stop having "relationships" with Jesus and go for the PARTNERSHIPS instead!
A LOT MORE would be accomplished for the Kingdom then.

The folks at ebiblefellowship.com along withseveral others say so. They base it on Genesis 7:11 & verses 16 & 17 along with Matthew 24:21, John 10:9, Acts 4:12, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-7 and of course 3:7 and 9:3-5 in Revelations or as it's listed in some bibles Apocrylypse. That's for the beginning of the end, Judgement Day. We shall see. I always understood that Judgement can happen at any time. Nevermind the 21st coming up here, It actually could happen TOMORROW, or for that matter even TONIGHT. I understand that as "No man knows the day or hour but my Father only" like it says in Matthew 24:36.

Now the actual "End of the World" will be October 21, 2011 if these folks are correct. No more Stephen McBride, No more Proud to be Catholic blog, Adios, Finis, Bye-Bye, No more Earth. Well again I maintain my stand.
People have predicted when the end of the world will be almost since Adam & Eve, and so far all of them have been wrong, though with Noah and the Ark, it was a close call. Here's the verses the e-bible folks lists for the "end": Genesis 7:24, Exodus 23:16 & 34:22, 2 Peter 3:10, 2 Thessalonians 1:8,9, Psalms 49:12, 2 Corinthians 6;2.

Now for my rundown on this heres: Read the Book of Romans, put it with Luke 23:42-3, and the now world famous John 3:16...especially that last one. If you have truly asked Jesus into your heart and sincerly repented (asked God to forgive you of your misdoings/sins) then you have nothing to worry about. Nobody can save you except yourself (by making the right decision). I can't save you, the Pope can't. None of the religons can. You can do it simply by asking Jesus into your heart and for forgiveness of your sins. It costs nothing and you need not rehearse a special prayer, use your own words and mean it. Did you do that? Good. I know who my Savior is, and if you were sincere about this you do too, or will very soon. Now that I have Jesus as Savior and Lord of my life, I could care less if "Judgement Day" and the "End of the World" are on schedule or not. Praise the Lord, Hallelulah, and AMEN!

Hey just one more thing, Didn't Jesus say he was coming like a "thief in the night"?????

OTHER STUFF:

Easter NEXT SUNDAY
Christ 's rising celebrated, and we can finally eat something besides fish on Fridays for the rest of the year. Oh yeah, it's definitely a day of obligation for us Catholics, and the most important one of the year.

RCIA'ers, congrads!
Another reason to go to Mass next Sunday. You get first peek at who are the newest Catholics in your local area. It was hard work. While it isn't today, and doesn't seem quite as religous as it used to, this blog did indeed start as a RCIA blog. For those not of my faith, still glad to have 'ya. RCIA stands for Rite of Christian Intiation for Adults. The classes are now mandatory for converts to the Catholic faith in the US and Canada (and probably a host of other countries). The classes teach our faith and beliefs to you so you can decide to join (or not) well informed. I know there's a lot of folks viewing us Catholics as a cult. Before you do, might I invite you to learn more about us, then judge. Classes will begin again around September. Contact an local parish for more info.

Natural Diaster Victims:
I know the grief. My prayers are with you. If you think you're alone just think of the many who were homeless many years before the diaster and either still are now or have died that way. Rebuild understanding that those folks couldn't afford to, and most that remain living still can't. It's too bad that death turns out to be the only recovery for a lot of these poor souls. Pray for them.

Hey Obama!:
How to get great results in balancing the budget:
a)Bring some of the troops home now before they eventually become a part of the already way-too-big homeless veteran population.
b)Start making the richest 2% start paying the taxes they ought to. INCREASE the estate tax!!!!!!!!
c) instead of paying huge billion-dollar corporations to advertize overseas, INSTEAD BEGIN to take CARE of the truly needy here. IF RICHARD TRIPP CAN DO IT, YOU CAN TOO ON AN EVEN BROADER SCALE MR. PRESIDENT BY THE LEGISLATION YOU CHOOSE TO KEEP OR VETO!
d) Quit sucking up to the Republicans and stand your ground!

Remember the promised health care reform? WE"RE COUNTING ON YOU!!!
May I remind you at this point that it was the low-income folks that got you into office. If you don't perform, you can be removed just as easily.
P.S. Ignore the Tea party who pretend to be poor but either are rich or are being misinformed by the rich (depending on the person). They really DON'T KNOW what they're talking about.

LANDLORD TENNANT ISSUES ALREADY (regrettably)
I've been in my new home less than 2 months and me and the landlord have some serious issues, please keep me [Steve] and him [Virgil] in your prays that we may resolve these quickly, calmly, and sensibly. Also pray for my good friend Kelly to get plesant housing in her own name and a decent long-lasting job real soon, be it here in KC or Portland Oregon where she said she intends to go.

To those resonsible in the U.S. Government, "Geez, do we really need another war? Why???!!!" If the money has to go overseas, couldn't we do something more constructive with it such as rebuilding Haiti and the Thyphoon damaged areas of Japan?

Richard Tripp's event coming as soon as we think.

Time is of the essence. If you wish to donate time or items, now is the time to prepare. More on this soon. Care of Poor People (by Richard Tripp)
Always has a "Spring Break" the saturday before Easter and a "Survival" event the Saturday after Thanksgiving [American], so you may want to mark your calendars for these. The events help many and for most of Kansas City's homeless, it's the only thime they have to really shop for their needs. Seriously, they really can't afford the mall! More info availible at coppinc.com.

I selected a place but it must pass inspection. Please keep me in your prayers.

Eygpt.

A relief that the turmoil is hopefully finally over. It just lets us Americans know (or should)how blessed we are not to have to fight government that hard. On Super Bowl weekend, there were two competitons. Here in America the Pittsburg Steelers versus the non-profit Green Bay Packers, who picked to win and they did. Then half a world away in Egypt the people versus the leadership. The differnce is at the Super Bown there was fun and sportmanship, in that other competition there was loss of life.

Richard Tripp (two items)

Global Homeless Hymn

As some of you know I'm also a musician & songwriter. I wrote Global Homeless Hymn a song with 4 parts started in 1998 and finally completed in 2008. I decided to give all publisher royalities to Richard Tripp's organization Care Of Poor People. I plan to start marketing it to publishers, music labels, and bands in March. If you're in this group or know someone who is, please go to ascap.com and order it. They collect the royalities for me, and for this song (all parts), sales will benefit the homeless. While I don't have it all up yet you may have a listen to it along with some of my other works http://community.ascap.com/catholicblog. JUST IGNORE MY LOUSY SINGING. The ASCAP word id for this piece is 882200681 for those seeking a usage license.

Homeless Marathon
This year we will be hosting the Homeless Marathon right here in my neck of the woods. Richard Tripp's Care Of Poor People once again joins forces with Hope-Faith Ministries along with our community radio station at 90.1 fm, KKFI for this important broadcast.
It will be brodcast beginning at 6 p.m. Central time on Feburary 23rd. This is the first time I mentioned this event, and I'll have to start doing it annually.

Where to tune in

Of course they will be streaming it from the homelessmarathon.org website. I'm quite sure of that, and I'll try to get a stream here, but no promises.

One of my biggest beefs is we don't let women in the Priesthood, and don't let men do nothing else. The competition just ain't there, we expect humans in an ungodly world to be perfect saints to be considered Christian. We fail to use people for their potential.
Of course this isn't just limited to the Roman Catholic Church, but to many faiths that make up the Christian religon. Who says women can't lead? Joyce Meyer has been doing it for years. She took Fenton, Missouri, a town most of us Missourians have never heard of and put it on the international map. In the RC Church however, there's no such thing as a woman leader except as a choir director or maybe head of the Catholic Credit Union.
We tell all in the priesthood along with our nuns to be totally celebant. I can understand their position on birth control under certain circumstances, but no masturbation either? It's not my fault God created us humans [and all other mammals] as sexual beings. Nuns and priests are allowed to have sex in the Orthodox and Episicipal churches, close cousins to our Roman Catholic ones. In our church we even allow them to join our church as such with these priveledges, but for the Cradle Catholic who joined the priesthood, it's a different story. No wonder we had the sex scandal involving little boys and they [the Orthodox and Episicipans] didn't. Keep in mind there's nothing wrong with rules when they're sensible, but some are downright stupid. By the way even in the Roman Catholic Church sex with priests and nuns wasn't always forbidden. Marriage among these is also now prohibited in the Roman Catholic Church.
At www.idbranding.com they discussed why Priests and Nuns can't marry and here's one comment:

"Rob says:
January 23, 2010 at 11:36 am
They used to be able to marry. But the Church is very fond of property and money. The church was upset that when priests died, they left their money and property to their family. So the church forbid them to marry so they will give all their money and property to the church when they die."

Maybe that wasn't true, but that's the image outsiders get of the church.
It gives many naysayers at least one valid reason to write us off as a cult (which we're not). Afterall 'Marriage' [also called Matromony] is one of the seven sacrements. Hey, the Bible [all Holy versions] says "Be fruitful and multiply", and it's at the very beginning of the book @ Genesis 1:28. With the nuns, they're suppose to immitate the Virgin Mary.
But nobody else can be her anymore than I can be Jesus Christ. In fact there's a reason why we were given penises and vaginas. With all other mammals...dogs, cats, even elephants and tigers, the male humps the females in season, no marrage involve, and that's the way it is. Sundance Channel even made a series about it called Green Porno.

While we're on sex, there's a middle-of the-road one too, the LGBT community [and really the homeless too]. Do you know why we have the MCC churches in the United States? Because the mainstream churches kept pushing those who were LGBT (or suspected of it) out of the church for 'moral reasons' or "because they're gonna burn in Hell anyway". Who are we to judge? The homeless get similar treatment because the are smelly and 'don't measure up'. Exactly why else would we have a dress code in church? What if I can't afford Florsheim shoes, a Harold Pener suit, and tie? As long I believe and desire to believe in Christ, I should not be excluded, even if I'm wearing the raggediest t-shirt in the nation. Jesus used whoever was availible at the time to do His work. In the end there people were always given the choice of following Christ or suffering the consequences for not doing so. He did not exclude people for their sex lives or incomes. I'll give you the first five verses I've found, and and if you look 'em in your Holy Bible, you'll see what Jesus says about excluding folks from his house (the church):

John 12:35 Mark 2:13-17 Luke 9:57-62
Matthew 14:25-29 1st Timothy 2:5&6

Let's get to that third one real quick. Am I the first one to heavility promote Richard Tripp's Care of Poor People? I'm afraid not. I like to say I was, but honestly I wasn't. A sports figure from the old Negro League Baseball beat me to the punch by many years. His name was Buck O'Neil. Okay, actually his first name was Jason but everyone called him Buck. He played for a team we had long before the Royals. The LA Kings and Oakland A's also originated here in Kansas City. Buck played for the Kansas City Monachs, billed as the "World Colored Champions" for many years. If I understand right he was also the first Black umpire for Major League Baseball. After he left sports he did much for the poor and common folk.
Yes, just as I'm a nudist, he was a womanizer but what count's was what's in the heart. He pitched a number of things, but none more than Richard Tripp's organization. Richard really did the job right or Buck would not have stood behind it. Buck finally died in his 90's. I went to one of the funerals. Anyway I felt the family would resume where O'Neil left off. They never did. Eventually I started telling of the COPP events on this blog (though not always as early as I should). That's the story of how I became the messenger. As for Buck's Negro Leagues Baseball League Museum which he founded a good decade before he died. It has a new director now that seems more interested in marketing and sales than Buck's vision. That's so sad. In nearby Crossroads Atrs District they have something called "First Fridays", where the first Friday of the month there's always a special of sorts. I wish the Museum would participate by having $3 admission that day...a duce ($2) going to the museum and that third dollar going to Richard Tripp's organization. Let's stop forgetting about the men. The playoffs are happening and the Super Bowl is coming. Let's get the competition going in church and the sprit of skill and bravery. Sports can do this. We need to show men that they don't have to be playing for the WNBA to be a Christian Athlete. The WNBA plays even better than the men, actually. I wonder why? With gent's sports (or many of them sportmanship went out the window for multi-million dollar endorsements),
with the ladies' sports however the competition and sportmanship have never left the team. When Michael Jordan who endorses Nike was asked about the shoes being made in sweatshops, he said it was not his problem. Hey, if he's convening us to by a faulty product, it's just as much his problem as the company he's being paid by. We need better male role models, and it can begin in the church...if only we would let it.

Here we carry on from where we left off and start anew.
As you already see if you're a repeat visitor, the blog has a completely new look. The logo and clock were retained and made off center while the links moved from the right to the left. In addition the text was made bigger and the main headline fancier (first article of each post only at this time). The headings are set in a font called Lobster @ 42 pixels and the text in Yanone Kaffeesatz around 26 pixels. These changes shall make the blog more appealing and easier to read. I shall remind you that previously written posts will also share the new look. That's just the way the folks at Blogger has it set up.
I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep the alternative blog (I don't use it enough), or just merge it's contents into the regular blog here. I do intend to reintroduce the vietamese version this year and perhaps in a few more languages too. I will keep the same content I've got now, but I plan to make some of the writing a "lil' more Catholic", as it was when this first started as an RCIA blog. In otherwords, all the same writings, but with additional church-like content added. That's my plan...Lord willing of course. Oh yeah, I will continue to push non-Roman Catholic institutions that I think are doing good work too. Afterall, the goal is for all of us to work for and benefit from the Kingdom of God.

Now about the new location, this blog ain't going nowhere, but it looks like I am. The apartment complex I live in Summit Heights has been foreclosed upon. The building failed an HUD Shelter Plus Care inspection less than a few days earlier, and it looks like I'm going to be moving. Hey, I think it's kinda a good thing. The building is in worst shape than when I first moved in and there's much more dope sellin'. So I take this as a sign from the Lord to move on. I think I'm moving to or near the Northeast area if I can, but rest assured the blog will still come from the Heart of America if I have my way. I've got no intentions of leaving Kansas City, but will just be living at a different address. Please keep me in your prayers. Keep the other tennants (some with kids and pets) in your prayers. If they don't have to move now, eventually they will from hows thingz'a lookin". By the way, no I will not be homeless again anytime soon. I'm in a program similar to Section 8 (so by national law THEY HAVE TO house me). Please pray for me, but with hope, not worry.

This is a time we give. The poor gets blessed. The homeless are treated more like actual humans. There's only one problem...it evidently ends on December 26th...eventhough Christmas IS ACTUALLY 12 DAYS. Then you've got Hannakuk and Kwanzaa (I think I spelled 'em right.) All of these holidays is a positive reflection. But after December 26th, the poor and homeless are forgotten. When Santa's sleigh is put away for another year, people still have to eat, need meds, etc. The mentally ill are often forgot even during the holidays. These people have a tremendous wealth of advice, works, and arts among other things to share if only given a chance. Just concider the quality of this blog. I don't but entries in as often as I used to, but when I do, it's almost as if you're in the same room as me. I've got lots of readers. I hope not to shock you, but this blog is written by someone who is actually diagnosed with mental illness, me. If you you like my blog, you must agree that not all folks with mental illness are basket cases, most aren't. We got the poor and homeless, the mentally ill as well as those physically sick, the elderly, and others and many are recognized during "the holidays" and then these 'problem people' and even the thought of 'em are shoved in the closet for another year.
Yet the needs of all these people continue on, everyday and all year long. I thank God for Richard Tripp, but there's only so much he can do! He's just one man. Jesus grew up to do the same, help others. Yet he had his helpers called discipiles. The lesson here is not to be Richard, but instead to let the Spirit of Christmas or whatever festival giving holiday you celebrate to carry over to next year. And don't stop with January 31st. Keep it going all year long to the best of your ability.

Correction
I reported that Hope-Faith Ministries would be moved in their new building the week of November 13th. So far due to construction delays this was not the case eventhough Richard Tripp DID have his giveaway at that location. I hope this fine ministry gets to enjoy their new building real soon!
