Infiniti M56 makes automobilemag.com's top 10 vehicles for Dad list.

Mon, 18 Jun 2012 17:24:00 +0000

Here's what they had to say... "The term “Japanese Muscle Sedan” may seem like an oxymoron to some, but the Infiniti M56 comes closest to fitting the term. Infiniti’s largest sedan, fitted with its largest engine, delivers plenty of comfort and sophistication, with an iron-fist-in-a-velvet-glove performance punch. And although the Infiniti M hails from Japan, its 420 hp 5.6-liter V-8 is built in Decherd, Tennessee, appropriately enough. And if you live in an area where weather conditions make the prospect of a high-powered rear-drive V-8 sedan sound like a non-starter, Infiniti now offers the M56 with an all-wheel-drive option."

Infiniti Ranked #1 in Total Car Score's "Top 10 Best Car Brands for 2012"
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Total Car Score, a leading automotive ranking and comparison website, today announced Infiniti as the number one scoring brand on its listing of the "Top 10 Best Car Brands for 2012." The study, which focuses on the strength of a brand's overall product range, is based on numerical ratings for 2012 model year vehicles by independent automotive media and reviewers. Infiniti vehicles averaged a Total Car Score of 82.09. Infiniti was followed by Mercedes-Benz, Buick, Audi and Lexus.

"The list provides a data-driven assessment of which automakers are producing the most desirable, highest quality cars, crossovers, SUVs and pickup trucks," said Total Car Score Editor in Chief Karl Brauer in announcing the results.

"Ranking first in the Total Car Score Top 10 is validation of our efforts to produce a total lineup of Inspired Performance vehicles, not just one or two great cars," said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. "Infiniti has always maintained one of the freshest, most dynamic product lineups in the industry and it's heartening to receive this important acknowledgment by Total Car Score."

The 2012 Infiniti lineup includes the Infiniti M luxury sedan and Infiniti M Hybrid; Infiniti G Sedan, Coupe, Convertible and IPL G Coupe; Infiniti FX performance luxury crossover; Infiniti EX crossover; and Infiniti QX full-size luxury SUV. How to Give an Infiniti as a Gift

Mon, 07 Nov 2011 21:39:00 +0000

Surprising someone you love with a car during the Holidays is an unforgettable experience. So rather than take them in to let them pick it out here is how to make it a surprise!

Your husband or wife may not want the same car that you would so we highly recommend an Infiniti just to be on the safe side because who wouldn't want one of those!

In the weeks leading up to Christmas follow our specials. There should be some good ones because we are preparing for people just like you!

Come in to Kearny Mesa Infiniti and tell the sales team why you are here. They will be happy to help you through the gift buying process and make sure everything goes smoothly.

Take the car for a test drive, and make sure the person receiving the car will like how the vehicle handles. You will know what she/he likes to drive and definitely know how often you will want to borrow this new Infiniti after you gift it.

Buy the car (at least) a few days before Christmas or the holiday in mind. You don't want to wait until Christmas Eve to get to the dealership, only to find that the car you wanted to buy was sold the day before. As with any holiday gift, it's better to have the car early than not get it at all.

Find a place to store the car and make sure it is with someone that can keep their lips sealed! Also, make sure it is not a place your loved one will be visiting!

Sneak out on the night before to retrieve the vehicle. Use kids, pets, grandparents, anyone you can as an excuse or a distraction! If you are always a last minute shopper this will come as no surprise to your family members. I do not suggest that you tell your kids what's up for obvious reasons. If you're buying a car for somebody who lives outside of your home, you could wait until the early morning hours to get the car. You can always leave your car at their place and retrieve it in the morning.

Don't forget the bow!

Infiniti Announces 2013 IPL G Convertible

Tue, 30 Aug 2011 16:26:00 +0000

Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) Expands As Stunning New Open-Top Model Joins IPL G Coupe in Infiniti Showrooms Beginning Spring 2012

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (Aug. 20, 2011) – Infiniti today announced that it will double its Infiniti Performance Line lineup of premium performance vehicles in spring 2012 with the addition of a new 2013 IPL G Convertible. More than just focusing on engine power and acceleration, the Infiniti Performance Line, or IPL, product design philosophy focuses on "total vehicle performance," including unique driving attributes and exclusive exterior and interior features at highly attractive price points.

The IPL G Convertible announcement was made by Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance where the IPL G Convertible Concept is currently on display. The IPL G Convertible Concept features unique aerodynamic styling, the dynamic performance of an IPL-tuned V6, exhaust and suspension, 19-inch IPL aluminum-alloy wheels, three-piece retractable hardtop and a unique red leather-appointed interior set against a Malbec Black exterior – a level of equipment and performance modification expected to be shared with the production IPL G Convertible.

"The Infiniti Performance Line, as demonstrated by our first offering, the IPL G Coupe, challenges the concept of an ultra-high cost sports series. IPL pushes the premium performance envelope for buyers seeking a higher level of exclusivity and driving exhilaration, but does so with an Infiniti twist," said Poore. "The IPL G Convertible will deliver the goods, just like the current IPL G Coupe does. Plus, the new IPL G Convertible offers the added pleasure of open-air motoring."

The new IPL G Convertible is based on the foundation of the Infiniti G37 Convertible, which features an advanced 3.7-liter V6 and three-piece power retractable hardtop that's designed to look as good with the top up as it does down.
"Like every Infiniti, the new IPL G Convertible will take a different path from its established competitors," added Poore. "It's a terrific addition to the Infiniti Performance Line, taking the dramatic Infiniti G Convertible to an even higher level."

Additional information on the 2013 IPL G Convertible will be available during the production version debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Infiniti Wins "2011 Best Luxury Brand" ALG Residual Value Award, 2011 Infiniti QX Named "Best Luxury Fullsize Utility"

Mon, 06 Jun 2011 17:57:00 +0000

Test drive the Q56 in San Diego at Kearny Mesa Infiniti!

In case you didn't hear the good news from InfinitiUsa.com!

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (Nov. 17, 2010) - Infiniti today announced that it has received two prestigious honors in the 12th annual ALG Residual Value Awards - the overall "2011 Best Luxury Brand" and "Best Luxury Fullsize Utility" for the 2011 Infiniti QX56. The ALG Residual Value Awards recognize the brands and vehicles in each industry segment that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of MSRP after a conventional three-year period.

"It's an honor to be recognized as having the highest projected resale value of any luxury brand in America," said Infiniti Vice President Ben Poore. "The Way of Infiniti is all about providing the best experience for our customers, from the day they first walk into an Infiniti showroom throughout the entire ownership experience. This recognition from ALG is another assurance to our clients that they can purchase an Infiniti with confidence."

"Infiniti has refreshed its lineup with great new designs and a host of new technology that is resonating with consumers," said Raj Sundaram, SVP, Solutions Group and ALG. "As a result the brand has a higher profile and transaction prices have gone up, both major factors in its finish at the top of the luxury market this year."

Award winners are determined through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, and pricing and marketing strategies are among the key factors that affect ALG’s residual value forecasts. Awards are made in 19 vehicle categories and also for the two brands with the highest overall predicted residual values among all mainstream and all luxury vehicles. This year’s awards are based on 2011 model year vehicles.

"The new QX56 blends a luxurious and comfortable interior with cutting-edge technology and impressive power. These attributes were major factors in its finish at the top of the luxury fullsize utility vehicle category," added Sundaram.

About ALG
Based in Santa Barbara, California, ALG is a leading provider of data and consulting services to the automotive industry. ALG publishes the "Automotive Lease Guide" - the standard for Residual Value projections in North America, and has been forecasting automotive residual values for over 50 years in both the U.S. and Canadian markets.

Over High Gas Prices? Tips for Getting Better Gas Mileage...

Tue, 10 May 2011 17:12:00 +0000

Slow down

According to the government's fueleconomy.gov each 5 miles per hour your drive over 60 mph is like paying an extra 24 cents per gallon for gas, when gasoline is selling at $3.96 per gallon.
"Think about sticking your hand out the window at 30 mph and sticking your hand out the window at 70 mph," said Ted Bohn, a research scientist at the Argonne National Laboratory in Lamont, Ill., and an adjunct engineering instructor at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. "There's a lot more force on your hand. That's the same force that your wheels have to push the car forward, and it goes up exponentially" at higher speeds.
Slowing down a bit also can keep an engine running at its most efficient level. Pushing it harder costs more. "The engine is working harder to maintain that faster speed so it's going to use more fuel to do that," said Mark Griffin, service adviser at Hands-On Garage in Milwaukee. "If you decrease your speed, you will save gas. That's pretty much just a given."

Check your tires

"An underinflated tire is going to have more rolling resistance," Griffin said. "If you have four tires that are severely underinflated and you air them up, you could save yourself quite a bit of fuel."
Varrelmann said he and the students in automotive classes push a lot of cars around. He can always tell when a car's tires are underinflated because pushing it becomes more difficult.
"If it's hard for me to push, it's going to be hard for the engine to push as well," he said.

Change the oil regularly

With today's computer-controlled engines, using the proper oil is important. "Each engine is designed to run on a designated oil," Griffin said. "Using the oil that is recommended is going to increase the efficiency of the engine, and in turn is going to increase your fuel efficiency. You might not see drastic numbers, but in watching fuel efficiency, every little bit is going to help."
Bohn likens the situation to an exam in school.
"Is there anything I can do to get better than 100% on an exam? No. But every point that I miss, my score goes down," he said. "It's pretty certain that if you don't inflate your tires, you won't get expected fuel economy. If you drive aggressively and brake harshly and idle a lot and warm up your car for 5 minutes before you drive, you won't get the baseline fuel economy - the expected fuel economy. You'll get less than 100% on this quote-unquote 'exam.' "

Heed the "service engine soon" or "check engine" light

Griffin has seen many drivers ignore warning lights because their car seemed to be running fine. "There could be a thousand different reasons why that light comes on," he said. "It's important to have that checked and have that problem fixed so it doesn't cut into your fuel economy.
"If you have a bad oxygen sensor, your fuel mileage could be really suffering just because that computer on the vehicle isn't operating at optimum efficiency," he added.
That points to the complexity of today's engines.
"It is a complex puzzle that has to come together," Varrelmann said.

Don't haul extra stuff around

Golf clubs, extra weight that you added for more traction in the winter, the landscape blocks you bought over the weekend then forgot about - all can hurt gas mileage. "The rule of thumb is for every 100 pounds of stuff you carry, (you lose) another mile per gallon," Bohn said.
Manufacturers have realized this.
"The automakers are just doing everything they can to shave weight off a car," Varrelmann said.

Additional pointers from fueleconomy.gov:

• Avoid excessive idling: "Idling gets 0 miles per gallon," the site points out.
• Use cruise control: "Using cruise control on the highway helps you maintain a constant speed and, in most cases, will save gas."
• Plan and combine trips: "Several short trips taken from a cold start can use twice as much fuel as a longer multipurpose trip covering the same distance when the engine is warm."
Planning, though, is often easier said than done, especially with the frenetic lives many of us lead.
"What's the easiest way to save fuel on your trip to work? Leave earlier," Bohn said. "A lot of people say, 'I'm running late for my meeting. I have to pick it up another 5 to 10 mph.' If, on your trip, you save maybe three minutes, by driving 10 mph faster, just leave three minutes earlier."
In the real world, he acknowledges, that's often easier said than done.
"That's a hard thing - planning ahead."
