Grammar

Spelling
You could use the spell checker on your word processor, but being good or excellent in spelling will help you get more jobs. As a home based medical transcriptionist you are being paid by the work you finish so if you are a good speller you could finish more jobs and thus more money for you.

Punctuation
You should also be good in punctuation, remember that your clients are doctors the documents that you prepare should be as professional and readable as possible so even the smallest detail like punctuation should be perfect.

Techy

Typing Speed

Transparency
This is another factor in getting more clients for your medical transcription business. Let your clients know your every move regarding the work they want done and the work you are doing for them. . Give them a sort of a flow chart of on how their medical records will be handled. How much time you need to accomplish a certain dictation and how long you will work on it.

Back Up Plan
You should also have a back up plan, if you’re doing business on your own make sure that there is someone (another professional medical transcriptionist) who can cover up for you if you need to accomplish a non Medical Transcription activity like attending to your son’s piano recital, or just in case you get sick and you can not perform your medical transcription duties.

In order to attract more clients who outsource their jobs for medical transcription you should always be on the look out for new technology and new ways of doing things because most clients look at these things when they are shopping around for medical transcription providers.

You should also be sensitive to all the needs of your potential clients in order to cover all the bases and to satisfy or even exceed all their expectations whether you are a home based medical transcription provider or not.

Here are some of the needs of your clients:

Communication
This is a vital part of being a home based medical transcription, you should have an extra phone line or better yet a dedicated phone line for your medical transcription business. This means that your clients should be able to ready reach you when the need to. You could also forward all your incoming calls to a voice mail. Or if you prefer to answer all your calls yourself you could forward all your calls to your mobile phone number.

Quality Assurance
Even if you are a home based medical transcriptionist you should have an effective Quality Assurance Program in place. This is to make sure that your work is up to your clients standards all the time. Otherwise you will be losing your clients faster than acquiring new ones.
