Pray for God's wisdom and guidance in this service that I
expect to be powerful in both worship and the Word.
Pray for the Dowell family. Sis Mary K's grandfather passed away
yesterday.
Kristy Sutton's grandfather Wilfred Heroux is in the hospital after a
quadruple bypass and they don't really expect him to make it. Pray for
him and the family.
Sis Tess, a friend of Sis Lucy's and Legacy's from Las Vegas went to
be with the Lord last night. She had terminal cancer and trusted the
Lord to heal her. He did.
Thank God for giving jobs to several in the Legacy family including
those who came for prayer on Wednesday. We are discussing the concept of Grace through scripture and it is mind blowing and life changing. We spoke about the fact that the truth matters completely. We cannot be saved outside of the truth, but when Jesus came, truth was placed in a sleeve of grace. The reality is that mankind cannot live in total truth, grace had to be given. This Sunday we will be discussing the topic: Grace Eternal.

There was a wonderful testimony of God's ability to provide. A Legacy man was laid off from his job for several months. This is not an unusual story in this economic climate, but this week he was hired by a new company who not only gave him "full time" status, but a raise from his previous employment. God is awesome!

Prayer Request:

Prayer Requests:
- Chantel has moved to the mainland for educational purposes. Pray that God protects and keeps her.
- Several people in the Legacy Family need jobs
- Karen Sutton continues to need prayer for her health
- The ministries of Legacy always need prayer
- Ron needs direction and guidance
- Big Island Business continue to struggle in this economically difficult time
- Mayor Billy Kenoi and the leadership of Big Island
- Governor Lingle and the leadership of the state of Hawaii
- President Obama and the leadership of our nation

Announcements:

- Church Cleaning day was announced, but needs to be rescheduled. The new date is Saturday, May 30th. We will begin at 9AM and conclude at 12PM SHARP.
- May 25th is the annual Memorial Day Picnic held at Higashihara Park, starting at 9:30 AM until 3PM
- Don't forget the Legacy School of Equipping classes held on Sunday evening beginning at 6PM. There was a great Spirit of God in the
Living Room. We heard some amazing tails of grace shown by mothers
toward their children. They spoke about everything from a child who
threw a spoon and accidentally hit his mother to a mother dealing with
drugs, schizophrenia, and a handicap in the life of her son and how
she dealt with it. It was amazing. We then heard about how the grace
of a mother is the grace that a child of God should receive from the
church of God who is the Bride of Christ. Legacy is becoming that
church!
Some of the announcements given were as follows:
- Church Cleaning day was announced, but needs to be rescheduled. The
new date is Saturday, May 30th. We will begin at 9AM and conclude at
12PM SHARP.
- May 25th is the annual Memorial Day Picnic held at Higashihara Park,
starting at 9:30 AM until 3PM
- Don't forget the Legacy School of Equipping classes held on Sunday
evening beginning at 6PM. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF LEGACY TO
ENROLL IN A CLASS. Classes being offered currently are:
- Network Class - Finding your spiritual gifts and callings
- Helping the Hurting - Helping Christians deal with crises and loss
in their lives
- Biblical Leadership - Identify the major areas of leadership and
establish leadership principles from the Word of God.
- June 6th Kealakehe High School graduation
Prayer Requests:
- Chantel has moved to the mainland for educational purposes. God was good as usual.
A few things that occurred...
- We welcomed Jo-Ann Ordway as the new Sunday School Director of
Legacy Church. She will be coordinating teacher training and
curriculum development. Jo-Ann is a hard working, passionate Christian
who has worked with children for many years and has a proven record of
success in Sunday School development. We are excited that she is going
to be leading the Legacy Sunday School Department. Pray for her as she
begins her ministry with our Legacy children.
- Legacy is beginning our ushering program. If you are interested in
being an usher on Sunday mornings and/or Wednesday evenings, sign up
at the back of the church in the next service you attend. You can also
send us an email and we will add your name to the list. Thank you for
your willingness to serve.
- We announced again the "Lazy Man's Fish Fry" to be held on Friday
from 5:30-8:00 PM at the Old Airport. We are going to have a great
time of fellowship with wonderful Christian men of God. Call 326-7370
with any questions or directions.
- Pastor Bobby preached the second part of a series entitled
Deliverance. He preached Deliverance's Birth a few weeks ago and
Deliverance's Demands last night. This is an awesome series if you are
looking for deliverance in your life. It was anointed and well
presented.
Prayer requests:
Bro Darrell's leg is badly injured and he needs God's healing.
Bro Kevin's surgery went very well, but he needs continued prayer for
his recovery.
Bro John injured his neck and needs God's hand of healing upon him.
We have several men and women who need jobs. We know God is able to
provide.
Sis Roz continues to need the prayers of the Legacy family.
We love you and God bless...

Legacy School of Equipping and other News

First...Legacy is awesome. God did a great work in us this weekend.
Thank you Tuppe family for the loan of your furniture, it was a
blessing.
Second...Legacy School of Equipping began last night and we had over
30 students in our first series of classes. I was blown away. I
received reports that the classes taught by Pastor Bobby and Pastor
Mel were both dynamic. Thank you gentlemen for using your gifting to
benefit the people of God. God is good and we have an awesome church
family.
If you want more information about Legacy School of Equipping, call us
at 808-326-7370 and we will be happy to get you all the information
that you need.
Third...Bro. Vince, you are doing a great job with the men's
department. I can't wait for the fish fry this coming Friday night. We
are going to have a blast!
Fourth and last...The devil is defeated! I know it isn't "new" news,
but it is news worth repeating. He cannot and will not win! I received a call from Vince yesterday morning when
Rachel was brought out of surgery. They said the procedure would take
five hours, but within an hour and a half they were complete. The
surgeons said everything went extremely well as if everything had been
laid out for them and they did not encounter any of the "normal"
setbacks that accompany this type of procedure.
We know who laid everything out and who had His hand upon the doctors
the entire time. Vince said that while in the hospital, they have had
several opportunities to lay hands on people and pray with them. He
said Rachel had everybody in the operating room pray before they began
working. These are strong people, but they have depended on their
awesome physical family as well as the family of God. They both
expressed their thankfulness for a church family who cares, prays, and
calls. Legacy, it is an awesome privilege to work with men and women
like you.
Blessings,

Church...look at it again.

Day 3...A few things to think about.

As you know this is Legacy's week of prayer and fasting and we will be
serving communion this Sunday. Here are some things for you to think
about while you are fasting.
Remember, a fast is the breaking down of self by controlling your
carnal appetites. It is day 3 and your appetites are in full gear
demanding to be satisfied. There are several bench marks in fasting
and days 3 and 4 are the first. It is in this time that many people
fail in their fast. Headaches, stomach grumbling, and some dizziness
is somewhat normal as your body tells you that it wants to be fed.
If you are not doing a fast of food, your situation may be different.
The similarity lies in this area, if you take stuff away and don't
replace it with anything you are denying yourself negative "stuff" ,
but not necessarily inserting the positive things that need to be
added in order for you to grow. Spend time in prayer and in the Word
of God. Let the Spirit speak to you as you cleans yourself from all
the "junk" that has built up in you.
I am very excited about what God is doing in our Legacy Family. If you
need me...call me.
Blessings,
Micah Sutton
Senior Pastor
Legacy Church

This will bless you.

Here is an article that I read this morning. I believe it speaks to
where we are and what we are doing in this time of prayer and fasting.
Enjoy and allow it to minister to you.
Stay Weak!
by Daniel Henderson
For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in
power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what
kind of men we were among you for your sake.
1 Thessalonians 1:5
Paul's description and approach seem like such a contrast to what we
often see in the pulpits of our nation. His emphasis throughout his
scriptural letters is never on human savvy, but always on the
supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. He had full assurance in the
sufficiency of the Scripture and the Spirit - and, as he says, he
sought to be an example of this power in the way he lived.
In our humanity it seems that we tend toward two extremes in
comparison to Paul's ideal. Often we attempt to be clever through our
human ingenuity and love affair with the intellectual. Our
technological advancement perpetuates this tendency. We live in an age
of impressive preachers and clever sermons.
The other extreme is what I call "concocted" spiritual power. We work
hard to create the atmosphere (a pathetic blend of emotion and hype),
and then label it Holy Spirit power. It's problematically based on the
amount of excessive behavior we can work up in the service. Both
extremes seem like blue-ribbon flesh to me.
The secret to real power in the pulpit is no secret at all. It is
recognized, genuinely-embraced weakness. Hear Paul's words in a
different context: "And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come
with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony
of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus
Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in
much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with
persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit
and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but
in the power of God" (1 Corinthians 2:1-5).
The Lord Jesus told Paul in no uncertain terms that His strength was
made perfect in Paul's weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Our problem with
this truth is that weakness is not an attractive thing to us. It is
counter-intuitive and counter-cultural. But it is imperative to a
ministry fueled by the Holy Spirit.
We must be like Paul in cultivating a holy fear and a trembling heart
in view of the high calling God has placed on our lives. We must
embrace the impossibility of accomplishing supernatural works in the
power of our human excellence, earthly wisdom, and persuasive speech.
Our talent, intellect, preparation, and planning can be useful tools,
but they are a miserable and dangerous source.
So what does this mean? I think that every spiritual leader and every
believer must seek to function with this mindset every day. We do this
by staying focused on the sufficiency of Christ and His cross, and
making it the passion and message of our lives. We do this by living
in awe of His power and staying ever cautious of our own flesh. We
must choose weakness as a fruit of this worship.
Prayer is the practical demonstration of our humility and dependence
on God. Prayerlessness is our declaration of independence from God. I
often tell pastors that there is a difference between using our tools
and relying on our tools. The acid test of which one we are choosing
is the prayer level of our lives and our church. So, we must bathe and
support everything we do in sincere and humble prayer.
It is a paradox. I love the way a Puritan writer describes it in the
book Valley of Vision:
Let me learn by paradox
That the way down is the way up,
That to be low is to be high,
That the broken heart is the healed heart,
That the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit,
That the repenting soul is the victorious soul,
That to have nothing is to possess all,
That to bear the cross is to wear the crown,
That to give is to receive,
That the valley is the place of vision.
So as you go to the office today, as you interact with neighbors, as
you care for your children, as you enjoy your vacation, as you lead a
ministry, here's the best advice: stay weak. Let His power have
authority in your thoughts, words, and deeds. We will turn the eyes of
a watching world toward the supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus Christ.
Back to me...
Let's be weak so that He may be strong.
Blessings,
Micah Sutton
Senior Pastor
Legacy Church
