My Latest Painting

So, my painting turned out great. I spent all afternoon on it. Yes I'm a fast painter. So, I named it "Dinner Guests" it's definitely an abstract style...I love it though! It felt so good to paint again. The painting turned out just as I dreamt it. I dreamt it last night, and it has been stuck in my head ever since. That's the kind of inspiration that I like. I definitely love the color palette too. It for the most part is my usual contemporary cool colors, but I added some orange, which is unusual for my paintings and it turned out great. Almost like a retro 70's palette, but really modern at the same time. I even added a little bit of texture with opaque white flakes added to some of the colors of paint. Very fun! I loved it. Perhaps I'll be able to get some more inspiration and start churning out more paintings soon. I do get in these creative moods where all I want to do is paint, and that's the mood I'm in, so maybe more will be coming soon.

So today, I'm painting yay! I haven't painted in quite awhile, just haven't had the inspiration. I have it today though, gotta get it on canvas before I lose it. Rawr!

Back to School For Me!

So, next Tuesday the Spring semester at college starts up. I have been off for Christmas break since mid December. It's going to take some effort to get back into the swing of things. I've been having issues with inspiration and motivation when it comes to painting. It's a struggle. I guess with all of my health problems that I have been having as of late it's understandable. Right now, I'm recovering from my latest surgery; I had to have a gland removed, yay! So, anyway, I am struggling with artistic inspiration. I see inspiration all around me everyday....but when I actually get to a point where I can start creating art out of it, I lose it. Perhaps I should start bringing an art journal and an ebony pencil with me everywhere. I will have about an hour and 45 minutes between my Tuesday and Thursday classes this semester so maybe I'll spend my time focusing on my artwork, I was wondering what I should do in that time, I hate doing homework at school. I can't seem to focus on it. I am really not looking forward to going back to a strict schedule, but it's good for me. The structure helps my mind from whirling around in circles of thought. I think too much, when I'm not busy. I think about everything....and it's worse when I watch the news omg. The news just makes me depressed. I can't believe the world today, I know people have said that forever, but the cruelty of some people these days just baffles me. I tweeted today about the 9-year-old girl that died in the Tuscon, AZ. shooting the other day, and my reaction to the President's speech about the shooting itself. He mentioned that he wishes that our country could be a country that is like the ideal democracy that she imagined it was. The democracy that a 9-year-old believes in. That is much how I wish the world to be. Not a democracy per se, but idealistic in a fashion. I imagine that someday love will overcome evil...perhaps not in my lifetime, but someday.

So I am still in the process of getting my actual art gallery site done. The actual site is done, except for my part. I am waiting on getting the pictures of my paintings done by the photographer, scheduling coordination issues you know. I also have to get my host, but the web designer said she wanted to do that part for me. That works for me! So, I am now working on my business card design, I'm thinking I might buy my first box made with a template or something, until I can come up with a good custom design, unless I ask my designer to make one for me...that's always an option, but I'm impatient and I want things done now! Lol! I need to push my husband to get the photographer to get my photographs done so I can get some prints made in advance too. Sheesh! Lots to do, and it's all my stuff, the web designer is just waiting on me to publish. So, anyway, I'm shooting for early February to publish it. The husband says that perhaps next week we can meet up with the photographer for the photographs of my paintings. Yay! So early February might actually be feasible. I can't wait!

Blogging from my phone

Well I guess I won't be blogging much from my phone, it separates all the posts into separate posts and makes it all wonky looking. Right now, I am testing out Sketchbook for mac, downloaded it from the Mac App Store that just opened the other day. Ill let you know how it turns out. Currently I use a program called Tabletdraw, and it works great, but I'm hoping that this new one will be even better. Could I get so lucky? Anyway, as I said in the jumbled posts earlier, I had a dream last night, and it had my Grandma that recently passed away in it. She was beautiful, and it made me miss her so much. So, whatever I come up with today with my digital artwork, is dedicated to her and her beauty. Especially since I am focusing on beauty in unusual places today. I figure finding beauty in a dream can be inspirational. When I think of her, for some reason I think of a pink carnation, which is one of my favorite flowers, but pink because she was such a lady, and very feminine. As I mentioned in my jumbled phone post, one of my friends on facebook was talking about finding beauty in unusual places....so I was inspired by a phone call that I got this morning and it kinda made me think of my days with fashion design (I wanted to be a fashion designer so badly for so long), and perhaps I'll do some digital artwork reflecting that. I dunno, we shall see what the pen inspires me to do.

Beautiful Winter Day!

Today was really gorgeous out. I think it got up to like 70 degrees fahrenheit. It made me happy, the sun always makes me happy. That's why I love Dallas, if you don't like the sun, you certainly don't want to live here. I got to meet up for coffee with a friend today, and that was great. We don't get to spend a lot of time together. Today was just one of those REALLY good days, where everything just works out the way that it's supposed to. I had to go up to my college and get my books and supplies for the upcoming semester. Even that went well, which was quite surprising because I usually have some sort of problem when dealing with financial aid and student loans and what not. This might be silly to mention, but I bought two reams of paper for typing out notes and stuff for school, but they aren't just regular paper! I got pink paper and blue paper and it made me happy lol. So, I'll be able to have pink and blue notes yay! Hey I gotta make school interesting somehow. I told my husband "hi i'm Elle Woods, nice to meet you!" Probably silly.
