Holla everyone! I have a surprise for you! A free SEO tool for you guys! Its for Wordpress and it is a set it and forget it plugin! All you have to do is download a plugin called CBping Optimizer and install it on your self hosted Wordpress blog! You can enter all the websites you want to ping in the box and then forget about it. What it does is that whenever you post something it will ping the list of websites you have provided. Generally, Wordpress has a self integrated pinger in the settings but it has a major fault. It pings the website even when you update a post or make some changes in the template. This rises the chances of your website being blocked from the websites you were pinging, thus effectively taking away your juice. So all you have to is to get the plugin and install it. You can find a list of working ping websites in my post on how to index websites. I have already posted the list over there, so and grab it! This way with controlled number of pings you save yourself from becoming a spam pinger and thus ultimately help the ranking of your blog. Images are very important from the point of view of search engines. Many people do not like using images in their posts and think it will look, I don't know, maybe "baby-ish" or"girl-ish". Well to the contrary people are always attracted by images and the better the images, the more attention it will grab. Another very important concept of using images are the alt-image tags. Again a majority of people do not use these tags but these are really important. It add keywords to the pages but does not contribute to keyword stuffing. So always use alt-image tags.

Using alt tags in Wordpress is very easy but with Blogger it is a little difficult. Why do we use alt tags for images?

Well, the most simple answer to this.....for the Search Engine Optimization!! I know this a very stupid answer to an equally stupid question because whatever we are doing in this blog is to get better positions in search engine results. We all know that our pages are indexed when the search engine bots crawl our pages, they can read only texts, so they do not understand what the image is about and generally skip it. Thus goes our chance to score well in the results page.

Steps for adding alt tags to images in Blogger:

1. Upload an image in the normal way.

2. Go to the Edit HTML option of the composer.

3. Find the link for the image in the post. For example the link of this image in this post is

4. All you need to do now is type "alt=keyword" without the quotes and replacing keyword with your own.

5. Now after the post is published move your mouse over the image and you'll be able to see your alt tag!

It's that easy I know, but sometimes its the easiest things that we forget to do! So add alt-tags for better Search Engine Optimization!

A little something about content

So what is the next after getting our websites indexed? Yes, you are absolutely correct! Getting something on our website...the content! But there comes the next feeling, what should I write? This feeling is generally termed as "Writer's Block". So how do you overcome writer's block? Now you will find a huge amount of other sources saying, think on what other people want, or maybe some other Guru mantra. But guess what, maybe because the are Gurus, they'll be having no problem in doing so; but us mortal human beings need something other than mantra to help us. So what is that secret to really overcome that writer's block? Yes I know that I am trying to sound like a Guru but believe me it's the easiest way to get content! So what is it?

The secret is * drum-rolls*... Search Engines!!

Now don't give me that look. Yes, I know you did not expect such a stupid answer maybe but what is a better source of ideas than Google? [:-P] But how do you get content from Google without plagiarizing others content? Simple! Write your own! But how do you go about doing that, that is the biggest mystery. Well such put the following terms in the query box of Google: "keywords" forum and you will get a list of forums with your keywords. Now just browse through them and look through the latest topics and you will get an idea on what is going on in people's mind regarding your keywords. Then just write a simple post taking those ideas in your own blog! Now wasn't that simple? Whenever we think of searching for something online, which search engine do you use? I guess 90% of you people will say, it's Google! So Google is the most important way to attract that free traffic you want. So that is why Google is the search engine that we want to rank for. Google SEO is a little difficult compared to other search engines because Google has the most variable algorithm for their search results. I mean, I don't think even the people working for Google know how exactly their beloved search engine works. But there are a few tried and tested method for ranking in Google results pages. One of them is to build backlinks, and we will cover that in a coming post. Another is proper keyword selection and I have talked a little about that already in my last post about how to choose keywords you want to rank for.

I have a free table too, for getting the best results from your selected keyword and I'll be giving them out as freebies when you subscribe to my blog, like it on Facebook, and follow it! I know its a lot of work but believe me when I say that it is worth it to get that table. It has a 5 categories and if your keyword matches at least 3 then your keyword is a hit! However, moving on to the topic of our present discussion, Google SEO is done with only one thought in mind, "Content is King"! So never try to copy content from other sources and try to sell it as your own, because Google is smarter than you. However, you can outsmart Google following a few very basic steps. The whole process is given in an excellent detail and format in the book from amazon called Outsmarting Google: SEO Secrets to Winning New Business (Que Biz-Tech). I sincerely suggest you get a copy of that book and read it. ;-)

A little knowledge on outsmarting Google never hurt anyone and after all that is the purpose of SEO, to rank at the number 1 position!! So always write original content and follow these two books diligently.

How to select keywords to rank for?

What are the keywords you will have to rank for to get better traffic? How will you know whether this keyword you select can bring in people and generate an income for you? Are these questions often on your mind while trying to make an income online? Don't worry, I'm here to answer your questions. :P

Well, before we go on about how to select the specific keywords, there is something you have to know. There are two types of keywords. And the wrong selection of the keyword is often the reason why even though you have traffic, you do not generate income. That is because you have been selecting the wrong keywords to rank for.

So what is the secret?
The secret is that there are actually two types of keywords as I have mentioned above- the first is browser keywords and the other is buyer keywords. If you want to see some income from your websites, you will want to use the buyer keywords, because the people coming in through those keywords will be actually interested to buy the products which you will be setting up your website for. So how do you know whether the keywords you have selected are buyer keywords or not? Simple, all you have to do is to see whether those keywords will be searched for when someone wants something really bad.

So that is the trick to get more income from the incoming traffic. There is a better way to do this, and I have created a table to know whether the keywords are buyer or not. Here's a very small post. Just for the people who are still cribbing about which niche you should select, here is a tip. Take any niche! Yes, I have said that all niches are not profitable, but so what? You can start by learning how to create traffic first. Because our main aim is to attract free organic traffic. Once you learn how to attract traffic, you will easily be able to rake in the money!!! But if you are still not convinced, i will give you another push; here are some niches which will never die, in other words they are evergreen!

How to select keywords for your niche?

Indexing of domain name

As you can see the domain name has been indexed within a few hours. With the proper domain name and meta tags, meta description you can easily index your websites to Google within a few hours.

Just ping all the websites in the list. You will find many such lists, but I have checked all of these now during posting and can say that these are all working. Selection of the domain name

Now that we have selected a niche, we need to select a domain name for the new website. For those who are just beginning with Internet Marketing or are new to this world, domain names are the addresses we put in the address bar of the web browser to reach a certain page. Now let us select the domain name.

Domain name is one of the most important aspects of SEO for any website. If a correct domain name is selected it gives a huge push to our search engine page results or SERPs.

For selection of domain name we will use the free keyword tool provided by Google itself. Go to https://adwords.google.com and then select the "Reporting and Tools" and then "Keyword Tool". After that we will put our search term as "Travel" and to get more specific traffic, we will choose "Travel India".

After we give the search command, this will give us around 800 keyword ideas.

For the test purposes let us take a domain with travel & india in it. And as we are trying to do it with free tools, let us create a blogger blog called www.indiatraveljournals.blogspot.com. As a blogspot domain name looks a little unprofessional, let us get a .co.nr free doamin name. So now the domain name for our test website is www.indiatraveljournals.co.nr. So now it looks like this:

How to select a profitable niche?

So before going on to the actual subject let's know what is a niche?

A niche is a topic or a subject. However all topics or niches do not have very good profit. For example there are a few evergree niches like "weight loss programs" which are always attracting visitors and traffic from the web. But the real question is how to know whether a niche is profitable or not?

A niche can be deemed profitable if it is attracting traffic to it. We can use several tools to check these. I'll tell you about a few very good free keyword research in my "How to do keyword" research post. Till then, lets just use Google Adwords keyword research tool.

Just for the purpose of this tutorial, I'll create a website using free domain and do the keyword research and all the other stuffs for it. It will be part of this tutorial series and also a trial to see whether my method really works or not! So let's start.

There are two ways of selecting a niche. You can either choose the keyword first or a product to market first. I'll take the second option. I'll also provide small video tutorials and screen captures along the way for you all to see what the results are.

Basic SEO Steps

SEO or Search Engine Optimization has to be done in a few broadly classified steps. These steps are very important and always has to be taken care of as these steps determine how well you are going to rank on the Google search pages. Mainly the steps are comprised of the following steps:

Keyword research for that particular niche.
Analyzing the keywords and shortlisting a few.
Creating a niche website.
On page optimization.
Off page optimization.
Backlink building.
Rinse and repeat.

All these steps will be covered in the coming few posts. Always remember that these steps are essential. But how you do them is flexible. I have my own method of doing SEO for a website and other people may have a different approach. Different SEO gurus practice different methods of SEO but basically all these comprise of the above steps. So follow these steps but be flexible. Google algorithms are known to be the most fickle thing in the world of Internet. So if you want to beat Google, or atleast be at par with them then you have to stay flexible!
