ADAM LAMBERT Arrested After Fighting BF in Finland

Former American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert got tossed in the pokey -- in Finland -- overnight after a brawl with his boyfriend outside a bar ... according to reports.

Lambert and Finnish Big Brother star Sauli Koskinen's argument reportedly started inside the bar in Helsinki, but eventually poured out into the street. Lambert allegedly got physical with people who tried to break up the fight, as well ... before police arrived and took him and Koskinen into custody.

They were arrested for multiple assaults, according to a Finnish newspaper.

6:02 AM PST -- Cops say both Lambert and Koskinen were questioned and released -- since neither party was injured.

Afterward, Koskinen blogged about the incident saying, "Publicity is not easy, but also celebrities are just human. Love is not easy either, but it lasts forever!"

When she’s not strutting her stuff on stage and selling a gazillions records–Rihanna loves nothing more than to sit at home and tweet, tweet, and tweet some more.

But recently RiRi’s tweets have taken a turn for the cryptic after she posted last week, “I’ve loved and I’ve lost!!” possibly making reference to her troubled relationship with R&B singer Chris Brown.

RiRi, who is currently single, split with Chris after he was charged with assault and making criminal threats towards her in March 2009, which forced her to pull out of a performance at The Grammys.

Worryingly, RiRi, 23, also tweeted last week: “I know he messed up, but let a real n***a make it right!” – could she be giving Chris another chance? Say it ain’t so!

She later added mysterious messages to her Twitter feed that had more than a hint of sadness. She wrote: “She look like a star, but only on camera, only on camera,” and “U hate bein alone, well u aint the only one!”

We all know RiRi likes a drink or two, so let’s hope this was a case of drunk tweeting. But it’s not the first time either RiRi or Chris have made reference to their acrimonious split on the Twittersphere.

Facebook bug allows anyone to access private photos [Update]

Want to see the private, hidden photos of someone's Facebook page? A flaw in the social networking web site's programming apparently allows this to happen if you use Facebook's image reporting tool. This bug was discovered via a message board post on the forums of, oddly enough, Bodybuilding.com.

The post goes into detail on how this flaw works. After you go through the menu items on the image reporting tool, the last thing it asks of the user is if you want to report on any other photos in the album. If the answer is, "Yes," you then get to see a selection of additional photos including those that have been designated as private by that Facebook user.

ZDnet.com even showed a photo from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's own private album (it's not anything kinky, we assure you) using the image reporting tool flaw. ZDNet adds that sometimes this bug worked and sometimes it didn't but "more often than not you get some pictures to view."

Facebook has been contacted and a spokesperson has said the company is looking into the issue. Hopefully this is just a quick programming fix on the Facebook web site. Considering that Facebook just signed a settlement with the FTC considering privacy issues with the site this newest issue might be considered a black eye on improving privacy on the site.

Update - Facebook has admitted the bug was in the web site and has now fixed the issue.

Why Windows Phone doesn't need dual-core processors?

I’m a great believer in moving technology forward when it is really needed, be it in UI, memory, processors, screens and even more so with new ideas. What I don’t believe in is trying to push technology when it isn’t needed by the majority or when it will make little or no difference other than added cost or be a feature that doesn’t get full use for a couple of years.

Some people have said that dual-core processors in mobile phones are a must have right now; I don’t feel this is true for the most part. Yes some Android devices have had dual-core processors for sometime, but there are a number of excellent phones such as the Xperia Arc and the new Arc S that don’t and they do just as good a job as any dual-core device out there right now. It seems to me that dual-core is just good for the marketing side at the moment.

Recent Windows Phone devices such as the Nokia 800 and the HTC Titan have come under fire from some sides for not having the latest cutting edge hardware such as dual-cores and higher end memory, but anyone who has made use of a Windows Phone knows that at the moment there have been no apps or games that have shown any sign of slow down or performance issues despite this.

If you have used a Windows Phone you’ll know that it isn’t designed in the same way that Android has been or iOS for that matter. Microsoft has managed to design the OS to be very fast and efficient on single-core processors allowing the UI to be fast and smooth while assisting the GPU with games, graphics and some great multimedia work.

Adding a dual-core processor into the mix isn't always a great option for those who want decent battery life, there has been numerous reports of lesser battery life on a host of Android devices which made use of these chips earlier in the year, though reports stated that this was a software issue, it has taken a long time to resolve and still plagues early adopters. Many users also complain that Android OS just wasn't optimised enough for dual-core anyway and it'll still take some time before it is, maybe Microsoft are making sure when they choose to go with the newer CPU's, they'll do it the right way.

Many people claim that dual-core processors will improve the gaming side of things in mobile devices; I’d disagree as most mobile gaming isn’t using up too much CPU time, it is nearly always the GPU and the Adreno 205 GPU’s have certainly done a decent job so far, though it is a side I would like to see upgraded soon. This is even more of the case on the side of Windows Phone 7 devices, which have all had to ship with a GPU since launch, though recent game releases such as Kinectimals on the OS have show a far smoother framerate on newer phones which make use of the Adreno 205 GPU rather than the original 200 model.

An excellent example of the difference a GPU can make not just in games, but with the smoothness of a higher resolution GUI on both Android and Windows Phone devices has been shown in benchmarks on theMobileTechWorld site. The benchmark shows just how much improvement there is with the latest Adreno 220 GPU running on the Android powered HTC Sensation.

Users can also be blinded by the “bigger is better” aspect of advertising, forgetting that applications have to recognise the additional processor to make use of it, something that hasn’t been happening too fast on both iOS or on the Android operating system. There has been no sign of any processing issues on Windows Phone applications so far; they have all been doing an excellent job on some very fast single core processing.

I have yet to see an Android application that has run better than a Windows Phone counterpart in both speed and performance (games aside) and I’d much rather have a stable platform over all devices than the fragmentation that has happened with Android hardware and software anytime. Heck some applications such as Spotify not only run better on Windows Phone, they look better too.

Some argue that if Microsoft doesn’t have dual-core processors in their phones soon then consumers will be left behind in the next couple of years. The Lumia 800 can be used as an example as it high speed single core device. My view here is that in two years time most devices available at the moment will out of date as technology moves forward, but the Lumia will still run most applications perfectly well and there will be far more dual-core software out by that time. Infinity Blade and Real Racing 2 are both iOS games that have had dual-core enhancements released for them while still looking fantastic on single-core iPhones.

The best example I can find is how long it has taken Android applications to start making decent use of dual-core processors, they have been around a year and yet they are still not widespread or as stable as they should be. I’m on a single core Android phone and I’m still not left behind with applications designed 2 years down the line and neither will current Windows Phone users.

I'm certainly not against a move to new chips, while Microsoft has never said that they are completely against using dual-core processors either, especially as multi-core support will be coming with upcoming Apollo Windows Phone update. After all, what is the point of over-sized screens and multiple processor cores when consumers can’t make any use of them, as there are not any applications that make use of those cores effectively and current applications run perfectly well and will in the future?

Nokia and T-Mobile holding a press event on 12/14 , US launch imminent?

The wait for the US launch of Nokia's Lumia family of smartphones may be getting shorter than first announced. News.com reports that members of the media are getting invites to attend a press event in at the Skylight Soho event venue in New York City on the evening of Wednesday, December 14. The event will be a joint one between Nokia and wireless carrier T-Mobile. Officially, all the invite says is that the two companies have "something exciting in the works."

This press event is almost certainly set up to be the official introduction of Nokia's Lumia smartphone devices here in the US following the launch in parts of Europe in November. The smartphones are based on Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system although the Nokia/T-Mobile press event make no mention of Microsoft's involvement.

Microsoft has already held a big press event a month ago in New York City to promote Windows Phone, complete with a massive six story mock up of a generic Windows Phone device. At the time, the event was to promote the launch of the new phones from Samsung and HTC. However, it stands to reason that the launch of the Nokia Lumia smartphones in the US is likely to be the biggest introduction yet for Microsoft's mobile operating system which is still working to gain marketshare.

The rip-off: Admit it—you would love to know who’s been checking out your page. Maybe your college sweetheart? Or your spouse’s ex? This scheme, which pops up on the social-networking site as an advertisement or a message on your wall that appears to be from a friend (but in reality isn’t), promises to let you do just that.

The tip-off: Click to download the app and you’ll be disappointed in more ways than one. “Facebook does not offer a way for members to see who has viewed their profile, nor do we allow applications to provide this information,” says Simon Axten, a company spokesman. Try to use it and you could give scammers access to your Facebook account and everything in it, including your e-mail, physical address, and photos—which may make you a victim of identity theft. Additionally, scammers could target people on your friends list with the same scheme.

How to protect yourself: Never click on these app links, says Graham Cluley, a consultant with Sophos, a computer-security company. And don’t think that you can find out who has rejected your friend request, either (another version of this scam). You can’t. If you see an application or a page that promotes either of them, contact Facebook (facebook.com/help). The company has posted a security alert promising to remove the links from its site.

Each Fix-It offers to resolve issues that it finds automatically or give the user the option to select the fixes manually. The second option is usually the recommended one as it gives users more control over the troubleshooting process and repair.

The display quality Fix-It is available as an app that downloads needed files from the Internet and as a portable version.

When you start the program the following screen is presented to you.

I’d recommend to select Detect problems and let me select the fixes to apply to avoid additional issues that the troubleshooter may cause. The Windows Display Quality Troubleshooter analyzes the system and displays fixes after the diagnosis has been completed on the next screen.

Here it is then possible to run some or all of the fixes if the manual option has been selected. It is also possible to display a detailed report that displays all issues that the Display Quality Troubleshooter checks for.

The video card driver is not Windows Display Driver Model compliant

The troubleshooting tool runs all selected fixes to resolve display quality issues in the Windows operating system. Depending on the issues, wizards may be displayed that walk the user through the configuration or fine tuning of a feature. This is for instance the case if Clear Type settings appear not to be adjusted.
