Step by step:
1) Set Reaper > hope they don't have the Skill Drain. If I set sangan they could potentially plus too hard off of Horn. If I summon TKR and they have D Prison or Warning, I am super vulnerable. I would not storm right away because I lose to Starlight Road at this point, and I have no follow up play.
2) If Reaper lives til my turn > Summon TKR and see if they have the Bottomless/Warning, if not Smashing Ground on Rhino and they are now down a card and since TGs play low monster counts I control the board and can now shift Reaper into atk mode and Poke for Damage. I wouldn't attack with TKR because D Prison would allow them to End Phase search for Rhino. If they Warning or Bottomless TKR then I pass turn using Reaper to stall additional turns allowing me to draw into big combos.
3) I would forgo setting Sangan at this point and summon it to XYZ summon for Zenmaines if TKR was Warning'd or Number 20: Giga Brilliant if it were Bottomless'd. Depending on their actions here I could then get aggressive to force backrows knowing that I can now follow up with 2 new cards + Storm and Chaos Sorcerer.
In my opinion this archetype is Dragunity 2.0, except with Insects. These little buggers equip from the Hand or the Graveyard, meaning that when they activate their "equip" effect, they do not target. I'll get more into why that is important later. The main monsters of the deck are:
The main focus of this deck is massive destruction effects followed by special summoning and XYZ summoning. You generate several +1s by using Dragonfly and Hornet to destroy a card, then special summoning Centipede to equip hornet and destroy another card and then following up with a "Rota" type search. To break it down, with Hornet in grave and just Dragonfly in hand -> Summon Dragonfly, equip Hornet. Destroy a card with Hornet's effect. Dragonfly's effect will special summon Centipede. Centipede can then equip Hornet, then destroy another card with Hornet's effect. Finally, Centipede's effect will allow you to add another Dragonfly to your hand ready to repeat and rinse the combo all over again.
Losing 2 cards per turn to your opponents 1 card combo (remember Hornet is in grave) is something that many decks cannot keep up with. The Inzektor player uses no resources as the combo results in a at least a +1 via a special summon and/or a search to the hand. This is probably the only deck in the format that actually benefits from going second and we haven't had a deck like this since Demise OTK, which coincidentally ran Insects as well.

How do you beat this deck?
This will be hard for many people to cope with, so brace yourself...

DON'T COMMIT TO THE FIELD!
Without anything to destroy, Dragonfly is merely a 1000atk monster and Centipede is just a 1600atk monster. Once either of those equip a Hornet, the Hornet is stuck there, buying you some time to devise a strategy. Remember, the game is over when you are 0 Lifepoints, so you can easily take a few 1000 or 1600 pokes before you actually have to do anything.
Zenmaines is another problem for this deck. If the Inzector player doesn't have an immediate out to Zenmaines, then they will just focus on your backrows and perhaps end their combo with a Zenmaines of their own. Again, this buys you time to put together a strategy to overwhelm them in one turn.
DD Crow is a good card, but since their effect does not target, you are forced to prematurely play crow and they can then simply equip from their hand. Maxx "C" can help you draw a card when Dragonfly fetches Centipede, but you while you draw cards, you are losing everything on your field. Effect Veiler however is the superior choice. If this deck becomes as popular here as it has in Japan, then Effect Veiler will be back in the maindeck at 2s or even 3s again. Stopping that initial equip on Dragonfly is so crucial in preventing them from getting their engine started. At 1000atk, Tour Guide into Sangan, Sangan crash into Dragon, Sangan search another Veiler is pretty much GG!
I am absolutely in love with Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror again. All of the relevant Inzektors are Dark Attribute so this card hits them hard! Side decking this card is not as harmful as you think simply because it has so many other application in other matchups: Gravekeeper's, Dark Worlds, and any other deck that relies heavily on Tour Guide from the Underworld. I am currently siding this card, even though I run a Chaos deck, but I look at it like Oppression. Once I have set up, then I can safely activate it. Since I can control when I activate the card, I can make sure that I don't hurt myself while at the sametime, do maximum damage to my opponent when he tries to break my set up. A note of caution, you have to be mindful of your side deck choices when you run this card if you are also running several Dark Attribute monsters, but again, you only activate the card when you have set up and have no relevant Dark attribute monster effects that need resolved.

Well, I hope this helped you in your fight against the Meta. Please give me feedback about this article and I will post a Meta-Gaming article once a week.

I have loved this card since I picked up a playset at YCS Kansas City. A light level 3 Beast that searches another copy of itself (+1 anyone?), provides fodder for Chaos Monsters, gets bigger when you have another copy on the field, AND is perfect for XYZ summoning Rank 3 monsters.
This is perfect floater monster for Chaos Decks in that it thins the deck and puts a body on the field to either absorb damage or pressure the opponent to answer it before it becomes two 2000 attack monsters on the following turn.
The card was under the radar for sometime after the release of Photon Shockwave because Reborn Tengu was rampant and 1700 > 1200 every time. But now it seems that Tengu is not seeing as much play and this card can shine a bit. It’s biggest threat now is Thunder King Rai-oh.
Thunder King Rai-oh summoned first turn by your opponent while you are running Photon Saber Tiger can almost insta lose you that game. Everytime, I had a semi-decent hand while going second of PST, Pot of Duality, Solemn Warning and 3 other random cards, it never failed that my opponent would summon T King and set 2 backrow cards. Even if I had the Spell and Trap removal, I never had the immediate monster removal and so the PST sat dead in my hand. This lead me to drop Tiger from Chaos deck altogether.
Recently, I have returned to running Tiger again because I realized that I should be running Smashing Ground to clear Thunder Kings and annoying Spirit Reapers. I also realized that not running a superb +1 engine that does all of the things from the 1st paragraph in this blog JUST because my opponent might have Thunder King is just like saying you should not run Solemn Warning or any other non chainable trap because Mystical Space Typhoon is at 3.
My only problem now is to find room for a set of PST and 2 Effect Veiler because of the upcoming Wind Up and Inzector decks. It may boil down to whether I side the Effect Veilers and auto lose to 2 of the most Hyped archetypes since Dragunities or bump my monster count up to squeeze the Effect Veilers in the main and sacrifice protection so that I auto lose to other decks.

With Rabbit.dek taking the throne from Plants, there has to be some adjustments made to the maindeck. I've been toying around with a few cards since selling my Tour Guides and now I think that I may have hit the jackpot.
The first card is

There are some obvious pros and cons with this card:
Pros -

Perfect 1st turn set. 1900 def means that it can hold up against Sabersaurus and Thunder King Rai-Oh.

Level 3. In the TCG, Rank 3s are the best XYZs so combining this with a Tour Guide, Spirit Reaper, or even better, Mind Controlling an opponents Sangan is incredible.

Spirit Reaper is seeing rise in play and this thing literally "Eats" him up. It quite simply is a great one for one removal card and can sometimes give you the plus one.

As amazing as it is there are some Cons -

Way too slow! Having to set a monster the turn after you Maxx C your opponents Venus or Tour Guide play is unacceptable! You have basically prolonged the inevitable and they will just go off on the following turn. So be aware of this problem.

0 atk points! When you need to go on the offensive, this is NOT your go to card. With cards like Zenmaines and Judgment Dragon in existence, there is no reason I can think of why this card could not have had at least 100 atk points...I'm just saying.

WRONG ATTRIBUTE! Yes, I'm biased because I'm a Chaos Player, Light and Dark monsters are very important to me. When this goes to the Grave with your Spirit Reaper and Zenmaines...All you can do is Cry when you top deck BLS or Sorc. Sad Panda mode activate.

The next card is a card that I collect. I have loved this card ever since I bought my first one back in 2004. The artwork is sick and leather pants on chicks is HOT! You already what card I'm talking about:

Pros -

Poof be gone! Her effect activates AFTER damage calculation meaning you can attack facedown Dandylions, Sangans, Goblin Zombies, etc and decide after they flip if you wanna invite them to the Different Dimension. She roflstomps Zenmaines and clears Gachi Gachi with ease.

Leviair Abuse. With protection you can loop her with Leviair twice and control the game turning 1 DDWL into 3.

1500 atk / Warrior. Tutorable! Sangan and Reinforment of the Army love this card.

Light Attribute. I have had this card Solemned, Warning'd, Mirror Forced, and Torrentialed on several occasions. When that happens, I have instant fuel for my Chaos Monsters. Don't forget, Honest likes this card as well!

Cons -

Poof be gone! DDWL is an untrustworthy BITCH! Your opponent can simply summon Tour Guide -> Make Leviair and use her against you...Messed up right?

1500 atk... Bottomless Traphole, DDV, and Tengu all laugh uncontrollably at her. At the time she was printed, her stats and effect were insane, now the Stats are just meh but the effect is still pretty good.

Light Attribute. Don't count this card as one of your Lights when constructing a Chaos deck as 9/10 times she will be banished by her own effect. Basically, making space for her can pose a problem in already cramped decks.

passive play! Once my opponent figures out that I need them to be aggressive or commit to the field for my deck to function properly, I lose! I have been looking for ways to add aggression to my deck without disrupting the stability of the deck. I have dropped the single copy of Genex Birdman. As much as I love the "Gain Train" Birdman really provides no advantage to the deck. So I have dropped it in favor of a second Junk Synchron.

It's going to require testing, but I think I may drop the 2nd Junk Synchron. On paper it seems awesome, but I don't think it solves my problem.

If you missed the decklist video you can find it HERE! Any and all suggestions are welcome. I really want to make this deck competitive and I will keep everyone updated on the progress.
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

nothing beats the IRL playtesting.

I've run into serious problems trying to finalize my Kuriboh Kontrol deck while playtesting on Dueling Network. In 10 matches, 9 of my opponents opened Trap Dustshoot AND Thunder King Rai-oh AFTER winning Rock-Paper-Scissors. The amount of random decks that I am facing also makes it harder to gauge what problems I'm having in my deck. Think about it, do I really need to adjust my deck to counter The Sacred XYZ monsters? Will I really face decks running double mind crush in the main deck, while at the same time not running any Dark World monsters? Testing this deck to be able to display the final product for YouTube is going to be very tough. If anyone reading this is proficient with any of the established Tier decks, feel free to add me as a friend on DN: DUBKDADONE, and playtest with me to allow me to finish my card selections for the Kuriboh deck. Thanks!
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

Like many who try to play this game competitively, I am struggling to find a deck that both agrees with my playstyle and is fast enough to keep up with everythingthatrunstourguide.dek! Don't get me wrong. I gladly welcome the challenge. There are plethora of ideas out there and I am just going to have to narrow down which ones are actually viable.
I could always build TG Plants if I wanted to, but I'm a firm believer in, "If you are going to run an established deck, then run the BEST version of it, or don't run it at all!" The beauty of the TG engine, however is that it can be splashed into a lot of decks. TG Striker and Warwolf make for a powerful search and synchro engine. I admit that the XYZ options are a turn or two slower than Tour Guide, but with the right mix of cards, I think I can create a fast and fun deck capable of competing with any deck out there.
I think everyone knows my loathing for the "Set 5, Go!" style of gameplay, so building TG Stun is OUT OF THE QUESTION! I also think that many people know my absolute love of Chaos decks. I've mentioned in previous posts about how good Inherent special summons are in relation to Maxx "C". Dropping a Dark Armed and Soldier on your opponent out of the blue is AMAZING, especially when they are holding a "C". With this in mind, I feel basing a deck off of YCS KC champ, Courtney Waller, winning deck is a good place to start. I am not completely sold on many of his card choices, but I will say that they worked for him, and that is all that matters. I will be taking my builds in a slightly different direction.
To start, I need to consider obvious and not so obvious inclusions.

Thunder King Rai-oh - This guy is almost a staple. With Pot of Duality reprinted, Tour Guide into Zenmaines/random Rank 3, having the Light attribute, and various searching effects I don't think many decks can compete without this guy. I will run 2 more than likely.

Maxx "C" - I feel that this card is another auto include. Shutting down your opponents HUGE plays is so crucial right now. Not many opponents will mass special summon, knowing that will draw a heap of cards. 2 or 3 will have to be run.

TG Engine -Striker and Warwolf are an amazing set of cards. Being able to special summon them together and make Wonder Magician to set up other plays has many bonuses.

Dimensional Alchemist - Courtney Waller used this guy to abuse and reuse his boss monsters. The variable attack meant that in a pinch he could run over the opponents last Tengu or hit for nearly a 1/4 of their life points on a clear field. It combos so good with Allure of Darkness and fulfilling the summoning conditions of Sorcerer and BLS. To get the maximum use of him, I will have to run 3!

Dark Armed Dragon, Chaos Sorcerer, and Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning - BOSS MONSTERS WIN GAMES! Nuff said! Playtesting will determine how many Sorcerers I'll end up running, but DAD and BLS are a must!

Gravekeeper's engine - 3 Spy and Descendant provide for quick field presence, synchro/XYZ options, and spot removal through Descendants effect. Will have to test it to see if it is too slow or not.

Photon Sabre Tiger - I really love this card. The only problem with it is that it requires lots of one for one removal to use it effectively. Every spot I use for a Smashing Ground or Dimensional Prison, is one less spot I have available to support my Boss Monsters. Testing will have to be done!

Spirit Reaper - I don't know why they put this guy back to 3. If you don't have Tour Guides, I suggest you run a pair of these. If the Reaper survives a turn, you can XYZ summon with another level 3, and while that may be slow compared to Tour Guide, it is a valid option. I won't even mention how good hand control and stalling with multiples are...

Card Trooper - If I'm going to run DAD, Sorc, x ??, and BLS, I'm going to have to find ways to make them Live instantly. The down side is that he can mill off all of my good cards, but the upside is that he can bump heads with opposing Thunder Kings and Steelswarm Roaches and net you a draw in return. Lots of testing with this card will need to be done to find the right amount, 0 - 2?

The rest of the deck will of course include staples like Sangan, Dark Hole, etc. Starting with a loose framework is how I create all of my decks. Comment down below if you are interested in seeing a series of videos on the progression of my Chaos Deck or "Hammer and Nail version 3!"
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

At first glance, you can immediately see that there is a stun/antimeta flavor to the deck. I am packing lots of one for one removal. Many of my monsters either produce advantage or have staying power once they hit the board. I believe that in order to compete with all the top tier decks, you must have ways to keep up with faster paced decks.

I like this card because it is an inherent plus one, when there are two or more on the field it has a formidable 2000 attack, and it has the light attribute. You run this card like you run any gadget or machina gearframe. Summon this before Thunder King hits the field or after Thunder King is removed from the field. Simple as that. Another thing I like about this card is that if I already control a

I can make Rank 3 XYZs easily.

The TG engine serves as a deck thinning tool as well quick access to synchros. Striker + Warwolf into TG Wonder Magician to clear a backrow card then summoning Photon Sabre Tiger or Spirit Reaper is a huge play. The engine also allows me to play both Black Luster Soldier and Chaos Sorcerer because of the quick access to Lights (TG Wonder Magician) and Darks (TG Warwolf). I believe that what makes my deck is that I'm able to run Boss Monsters in addition to keeping an anti meta feel to the deck. The fact that Sorcerer and Soldier are Inherent Special Summons also mean that I'm not susceptible to my opponents' Maxx "C." One of the flaws of Agents, Karakuri, and TGU Plants is that a well timed Maxx C will ruin their big plays and often times cost them the game.

I have a few odd tech picks in the deck. Double Spirit in my honest opinion will be staple in any deck that has room for them. If you want a deck that completely stalls out Agents or Rescue Rabbit, then this card alone will do the job. There are many outs to Reaper, but your opponent must first draw them and often times, they are very hesistant to use their game breaking cards like Mind Control, Dark Hole, or Forbidden Lance ESPECIALLY if they have no immediate follow up play. Since I run so much removal. I am able to get several direct attacks with my Reapers and when my opponent attempts to overcome the Reapers, I can exceed them into another threat like Zenmaines or Leviathan or even Leviair to retrieve a banished threat. Gravity Bind is another fun card in this deck. Most of my monsters are level 3 and lower so they are unaffected. Another cool thing is that I can easily XYZ summon into a powerful monster and neglect the Gravity Bind. Also, it can allow me to stall until I can put together resources to mount a huge play or make a counter attack. Finally, Effect Veiler has two spots dedicated to it. I know that the current trend is to run 0 - 1 Veilers but I refuse to get pooped on by simple plays like TGU->Sangan/Broww or Trishula without mass special summoning (Plants do it often using Tengu + Rai-Oh + normal summon Bulb or Spore. Also, it is an easy Light monster that I can throw to the grave making my BLS and Sorcerer live.

I hope you like the deck. Feel free to build the deck IRL or on DN and let me know if you made any modifications and how it worked for you. If you liked this article, let me know that as well and I'll do more written deck profiles in addition to video deck profiles.
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

I wanna begin by apologizing for wasting everyone's time with my Road to YCS KC series. Going in to the event, I felt more confident than I ever have in my ability to play a children's card game. Part of winning is having the winning attitude. And I had a LOT OF IT!
What I did not take into account is the desire of other competitors also having a winning attitude and just simply outplaying me. My loses in the event were to Robert Carafortes, Robert Boyaijin, and another gentleman who ran Twilight featuring the Dark Lords. Overall, I went 3 - 3 drop. After my third loss, I could have continued on and still potentially made day 2, but I was just disgusted in myself. Walking around the event, meeting people who were subscribed to me, I realized what my problem was. I stopped being me. It really sucks too. I was running Tengu and Tour Guide in plants before they topped any event and before people realized how OP TGU was. You see, I forgot that very thing that I preach every so often and that is that a deck that is well played will have numerous counter strategies in addition to players who are pratically Yugioh Savants. The most rewarding showing I've ever had at events have been because I used an original strategy that I had tested vs the leading meta decks and then refined them to the point of perfection, much like Courtney Waller did at YCS KC.
Therein lies another epiphany. 90% of my subscribers are subbed because of my willingness to post Crazy Deck ideas that are actually consistent. I again, apologize, for straying away from my roots and will work my ass off to post up effective and creative decks that can stand up to the meta. I discovered that a majority of people do not care about my opinions on the game or my opinions on players. What got me to my 10,000 subscriber mark was posting weird and wacky decks every week and them playing them on camera vs a meta deck, so be looking forward to that again.
I had spoiled myself with my ability to acquire anything I wanted for my decks and it killed my creativity. It was so easy to just cut and paste from other established builds and then throw in 2 - 4 tech cards and be satisfied. No longer! Stick with me everyone. I have found my way.
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

From what I can put together, Project Doc is a documentary detailing his life as a Yugioh Player and all of the stigma, excitement, and effort involved. He asks of everyone to send a short 30 sec - 1min long video just outlining the reasons you play yugioh or how yugioh has affected your life. I personally think that this is an admirable endeavor and I intend on submitting my own video response to his channel.
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

Next add me as a friend. Finally click, "Watch Duel" and the system will take you to my game in progress and you are free to request a game in the Watcher's Chat.
Speaking of the watcher's chat, that shit cray! I have never seen so many random, disparate topics in one place in my life. People talking about Lindsay Lohan to Yata Locks all the while making random commentary on the Duel in progress. One of these nights, I am going to have to screen capture a duel on DN while the Watcher's Chat is filled with 40-50+ people so that everyone can see the craziness going on there.

Recently, I have been made aware that there are some Dueling Network superstars. I have heard names like Squiddy, UKYusei, and YourYugiohChannel getting large followings. I'm not entirely certain of the reason for their large following, but if people are watching then it must at the very least be entertaining. Some days ago, I played xxProwinstonxx and we had around 23 watchers and he ended up recording one of the duels and putting it up on his channel. I hope to get more duels in vs he and other Yugitubers/High profile players so that you all can see how I fare against them.

Don't worry, the Vlog's are still coming. Unfavorable weather coupled with other responsibilities have prevented me from finding time to sit and record my daily Yugioh thoughts. I have quite a few things in store over the next few weeks.

- Yugitubers : I've mentioned in an earlier blog post that I've been checking out other channels and subscribed to at least a dozen or so in the last week or two. Soon, I'll be shouting those channels out, so be sure to show them support when I name them.

- Tech Picks : I've come across a lot of interesting Tech ideas while talking to high caliber players online and in playtesting on Dueling Network. I'll be sharing some of them with you.

- Going against the grain : I've always had the most success in tournaments when I've ran something that I've created on my own that resembles nothing in the Meta. Those decks have always exploited flaws in the meta decks and I'm beginning to feel that it may be time to go against the grain!

That is just a short list of topics I plan on speaking about. If you have any topics you'd like to see discussed, be sure to let me know in the comment section. Thanks for reading.
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

There are definitely some long days ahead for me. The Pre-release for Photon Shockwave is this weekend and once again it is going to be Mission Impossible to pick up those highly sought after cards before their Market Value is truly known. Yes people, pick up your Solemnasaur, Wrathasaur, Rescue Rabbit, Zenmaines, ETC EARLY so that you are not one of those people who bitch and moan when the price is $6324576325 for a playset like everyone did with Pot of Duality and Tour Guide from the Underworld.
When I sit down to do these videos, I try to make sure my mind is clear and just speak from the top of head. I am more or less brainstorming on camera. This is pretty much what our team does when we are preparing for an event. Brainstorming and bouncing ideas back and forth can really helpful because you get a lot of ideas at once and can quickly sift through them at the same time without wasting a bunch of time. As the viewer, I truly encourage you to participate in this process and sort of become "Associate Members" of Team DKF!!!
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

As of lately, I've been extremely bored out of my mind by the content or lack thereof from many of the "old hands" of Yugi-Tube... The big names - myself until recently included - seemed to have gotten complacent with their "super star" status and have just not been putting as much effort into their videos as they were in the past when they were hungry.
A couple of days ago, I decided to venture out and look at my recommendations list that pops up on YouTube and see if I could find some other Yugi-Tubers who possess that same spark and hunger that I once had when it came to providing entertainment and information about Yugioh. I wasn't exactly looking for subscriber count or view count, I was just looking at topics and the frequency at which they posted content. I came across so really interesting characters.
The first character was DaGadgetGuru. This guy is a trip. His channel features the usual content that others in our category on YouTube post, but he has a fire in his heart when he talks about Yugioh. I'm gonna be honest and say that I HATE that he plays Turtle Decks aka Summon/Set Monster then Set 4-5 backrow + Starlight Road. His redeeming factor is that he ADMITS that the style of play is retarded. I'm not hating on it because just like in CoD or Halo camping is a LEGITIMATE strategy no matter how hated and annoying and retarded it is. If it wasn't meant to be that way then there would not be options to facilitate such gameplay...in either game!
The next guy is Sayris13. This gentleman earned my subscription for merely being in the same age bracket as me! However he retained my subscription for posting entertaining and spirited videos that anyone can watch and relate to. He shares much of his personal life on the channel which is cool and shocking at the same time. And that is just another reason why I am still subscribed to his channel.
For now, that concludes the people I have been checking out. If there are channels that you think are worthy of look, list them down below. I really am addicted to this hobby of mine and I enjoy the opportunity to see someone else's take on the game whenever possible.
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

Innovation is born out of necessity! If you don't possess the expensive meta defining cards, then you MUST INNOVATE in order to be successful. So many people are still up at arms about the price of Tour Guide. If I didn't own them then I would be running something that either did not need them or find a suitable replacement and alter the deck accordingly.
Does anyone remember the RaiDa or Perfect Circle format:

3 Raiza
3 Light and Darkness Dragon
3 Destiny Draw
3 Card Trooper
3 Malicious
1 Stratos
1 Disc Commander

At the time, that deck was the meta and it was considered way too expensive for card board. Raiza was $30, card troopers were $30, Destiny Draw was $50+, Stratos and Disc were both $20+... There was no way in HELL I was gonna shell out for all of that shiny cardboard. So you know what I did? I fucking designed a deck that could compete at a respectable level and even WIN vs the Meta. I don't remember exactly what the list was, but I remember many key components:

Exiled Force
3 Giant Rat
Injection Fairy Lily
2 DD Assailant
2 Gigantes
2 Granmarg
2 Creature Swap
3 Smashing Ground
3 Bottomless
3 Trap Dustshoot

Now take a look at how devastating a deck like that is to Perfect Circle. I made sure to include plenty of chainable cards to rapidly deplete LiDas atk/def rendering it useless most of the time. Also, Gigantes was just insane for having 1900atk AND daring other monsters to kill it in battle for the Heavy Storm effect. Gigantes murk'd opposing Stratos and other top beaters of the day. The Giant Rat toolbox was able to get me out of so many situations that I was able top 2 Regionals during that format. One in Tulsa and one in St Louis. So you see, I really don't give a damn about how you can't afford to buy whatever the most meta defiining card is at any particular time. What I really want to hear is how are you going to Adapt and Overcome. Because being successful in this game is not about what cards you own, but how well you use those cards!
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

I will try to explain the phenomenon that is "Victory Without Running X Card." I am talking about the people who claim that certain cards are not required to run certain decks effectively. Starting with Gladiator Beasts, Prisma vs Prismaless. If you found great success with your GB deck that didnt run Prisma back in the day, can you honestly say that it was BECAUSE you did not run Prisma?

I would wager that the reason you were successful was because you were able to perform the Herp Derp plays that are so common of GB deck. Attack, tag, do stuff, rinse repeat.

The same is true with Tour Guide from the Underworld in many of the current meta decks...specifically Agents and Dark World.

You see, many decks just flat out win because they are able to do WHAT THEY DO. With Agents, you drop Hyperion, blow up some shit, then drop Kristya. Your opponent is unable to clear Kristya, GG. That is the derpness of Agents. There are so few outs to Kristya in the main deck of most decks that she alone can win the game. The same is true with Dark World. Having Grapha in grave with a normal summonable Dark World monster means that you can beatdown with Grapha every turn. Everyone knows that it is very difficult to deal with 2700-3000atk beater EVERY TURN. Eventually you are going to run out of resources and answers to deal with it. Re-read both scenarios. Notice how both did not involve Tour Guide? Now imagine if Tour Guide is thrown into the mix.

Agents: You essentially increase your chances of seeing Earth, Herald of Orange, Honest, or even Effect Veiler. With 2 Cards in hand (Hyperion and Tour Guide) and 2 Cards in grave (Venus and a Earth) you can put massive damage on board: SS Hyperion -> banish Venus -> banish Earthl; blow up random card on opponents field -> TGU gets 2nd TGU -> Leviair gets Venus: 2700 + 1800 + 1600 = 6100. With minimal resources you have punished an opponent for having to play Solemn Warning on your Venus after you tried to activate its effect.

Dark World: You are going first, which opening hand would you rather have:
Grapha, Gates, Snow, Mind Crush, Beiige, Broww
or
Grapha, Gates, Snow, Mind Crush, Tour Guide, Broww.

In the first hand, Gates is completely dead. TGU allows you to use your Gates on the 1st turn. It's as simple as: TGU -> Broww -> Leviathan -> Detach Broww to boost Leviathan. Now there is a Fiend in the Grave and you are free to play Gates. Sure you could have opened with Dragged Down or Dealings. But what if it is the mirror match? And let's say that it was not the mirror match. The hand that includes TGU in addition to Dragged Down and Dealings is STILL THE SUPERIOR HAND!

Let me know what you think.
Loving life in the Dub K!!!

Its kind of cool in that I can tutor for it with Reinforcement of the Army. But it is inferior in many aspects to summoner monk. In my intial builds I however found that there are never times that I wanna ditch a spell for Monk's effect. I looked over many of the cards from the structure deck and they are definitely cool, but they don't produce any advantage. They indeed facilitate XYZ summons but they just don't have much competitive value. If you have any ideas on how I should proceed, feel free to comment below with any card ideas I could consider when constructing my deck so I can do my KATTOBINGU!
Loving life in the Dub K!!!
What the hell is wrong with Kattabingu? It's like when they changed Dattebayo on Naruto. It was just a silly exclamation that needed no translation. As far as I could tell, Dattebayo had no real meaning in Japanese. It kind of reminds me of when we as Americans say things like, "Ballin'" or any other piece of meaningless slang.
I don't know. Maybe I am overreacting, but it just irritates me that they always change up Anime Imports and they sound horrible. From the crappy voice acting, to the way the choices of words they use to avoid offending western sensibilities...I just don't like it.
It was cool except that I had to work all day Friday. No matter I'm a BOSS and BOSSES don't fucking need sleep! So Friday night Team DKF!!! gather at aznpersuasion2008's house around 9pm. We get our deck registration forms printed out, binders organized, builk foils bundled up to sell to vendors, decks re-sleeved, and make a playlist for the trip (Isely Brothers, Smokey Robinson, Gap Band, Ice T, other old school shit because I'm old too.) Then we were all settled in for power naps around midnight, azn's phone starts blowing up and everyone from our town who is going to the Regional starts calling to see if they can meet up at his house. He says yes and suddenly we're overcome by eager beavers and my calm is ruined.

Fast Forward to 4am

4:19 am - We load up the car, get fuel (and coffee for me - Black, No cream or sugar)

4:33 am - I get on the Turnpike (I-35) and head to KC

5:00 am - Everyone falls asleep on me so I crank up my music and blast them with Classic R&B and Old School Hip Hop

6:00 am - 75 MPH new speed limit on the Turnpike fucking A-MAY-ZIING!

7:15 am - Arrive at "our" McDonalds in Lenexa near the venue and quickly shoo away fanboys who are sitting at our favorite table.

8:00 am - Mickey D's is crowded now and there are fucking fanboys everywhere. We get our first taste of the randomness that will be the Regionals and I begin to seriously rethink my side deck.

8:50 am - Teammates are finished raping kids for cards, I'm finished getting broke't trades, and we head on over to the venue.

9:30 am - I SINCERELY DECIDED IT IS TIME TO SWITCH UP MY SIDEBOARD...we are in the backyard of Paul "Empty Jar" Cooper after all. There is Chain Burn, Empty Jar, Stall Burn, Exodia, and other Un Fun strategies played by players of very respectable skill.

10:00 am - 188 Corn chip and ass smelling, fat greasy socially awkward looking, fashion deprived yugioh players sat down for the players meeting and the start of Round 1.

Dubkdad1's Match Report:
Round 1 vs J. Lemmon (Warrior Beatdown?!?)
I win the die roll. GAME 1 Summon Tengu and pass. He draws to 6, sets one monster and FUCKING SETS 5 S/T.... I'm like dear God no, not this shit so early in the event! On my turn I draw, I set all of my S/T, set sangan and poke with Tengu...it was that 1900 def shit from the Dawn of XYZ starter deck...I'm like da Fuck is dis shit? Next turn he sets another monster. I draw Debris Dragon and attack his new face down with Tengu...Warrior Lady of the Fucking Wasteland. He goes gets some other card that I have to read 30 times. I get fed up with the BS, so I blind MST his card nearest the deck and it was XYZ Veil...FUCK YES! I flip Sangan, summon Debris Dragon and BRD all his shitty cards and my Warning, Book of Moon, Enemy Controller, and Call of the Haunted and search Tour Guide. He Tops A. Forces, activates it and passes..................

I win a few turns later. GAME 2 He believes that BRD should be banned and calmly explains why. I'm like yeah, card is just unfair and liek there is no way to prevent yourself from being hurt by it...He sets 4 backrow and pass. I summon Lonefire, get Dandy and poke for minion damage. He summons Maurading Captain and then drops another starter deck card and XYZ for Leviathan (I remember thinking that if he drops DDWL I am so gonna ROFL). Pounds my Dandy and I get tokens. I top deck Reborn. Summon Tengu, Reborn Lonefire...shenanigans ensued.

Record 1 - 0

Round 2 vs Richard Simpson (Monarchs)

I win the dice roll. GAME 1 Tour Guide -> Sangan set Econ pass. He T-Sets. I draw MST play in on his Trap Stun??? and I reel back and say X Sabers? He smiles...I attack the set "Emmersblade" and it turns out to be Mother Grizzly. I pass turn very confused. His turn. Summons swap frog sends Treeborn turns Grizzly to attack and I econ away my Sangan for Effect Veiler taking his Grizzly. He bounces Swap and I return Grizzly for my turn. I draw 1 for 1 and pass. He summons swap dumps another Frog, swings with it into my def pos TGU and pokes for 1400. I draw Dandylion and pass. He summons swap again sending 3rd treeborn and I'm like ok it's time to get aggressive. I finally draw and summon Tengu and Play One for One shenanigans ensue...GG. I side out my MSTs, Judgment for 2nd BTH, Mind Crush, and Kycoo! GAME 2 He passes with no field. I summon Tengu and Pass...I still don't know what he runs. He summons Grizzly, rams gets swap dumps Frog, bounces sets 1 (I read Trap Stun) and passes. I summon TGU into TGU (not wanting to get Caius'd cuz I have no Veiler yet) attack with TGU into Fader and I pass. He trap stuns gets back frog and Raizas my Tengu swings over my TGU and passes. The game gets really drawn out from Monarch exchanges but I finally manage to drop Gorz and He can't recover when I Veiler his Caius.

Record 2 - 0

Round 3 vs Alex Ives (TG Agents)

All day I've been winning the die roll because I insist on lowest roll wins the roll and everyone agrees to it...I roll 1 like a champion for some reason. GAME 1 I have an idea about what he is running because I saw Ancient Sacred Wyvern and Gachi Gachi when he was pulling out his stuff from his deck box. So I decide to set up early and make it quick. I open Tengu, One for One, BLS, Duality, Heavy, Pot of Avarice. I Duality into Dandy, Sangan, and Duality...Dandylion LIKE A BOSS. He doesn't even put up a fight. GAME 2 I pro him up by letting him Summon Venus into my TKR and compulsory evacuation device, pay for the 1st Ball then when he pays for the 2nd Ball I Maxx C and he's like FUCK! Because at this point, you almost have to Gachi Gachi or risk letting everything get run over by TKR. He makes GGG, I draw another card (BLS - with TGU in grave). When he attacks I CED the GGG and he is like WOW and is forced to drop Honest (Must Be Nice). Next Turn I top another TGU. Summon BLS (banish TKR/TGU), Summon TGU -> Leviair -> TKR GG.

Record 3 - 0

Round 4 vs Adam (Machina Gadgets)

I lose the die roll. GAME 1 He opens silly with Gadget and backrows for days. I grind out the win by picking off the backrows by summoning shit he is forced to Warning like TKR and TGU, while just setting my Tengus. Finally, I OTK with BLS by summoning Dandylion, milling Spore for Bulb (LOL), making Armory Arm and then making Orient (the only time I used it all day...and there was no synchro to hit with his effect). GAME 2 I see no side boarded Cydras or smashings. Limiter shenanigans with Green Gadget, Gearframe, and Fortress seal the game. GAME 3 Sangan and Tengu get quick hits early on. I still see no sided cards but I drew a clutch Bottomless when he summoned Gearframe. I had Dark Hole and 2 other backrow with Sangan and Tengu on the field to his 2 card hand and I knew that one card was Fortress. Sure enough he summoned it but didn't attack. I Dark Hole on my Turn. Got TGU -> Leviair -> Gearframe. Tengu, Leviair, and Gearframe push for exact game.

Record 4 - 0

Round 5 vs Phu Bui (TGU Agents)

I lose the die roll again... GAME 1 He sets one and passes. I summon TGU and he sits up and starts shuffling his hand really fast. I say to him, "Don't tell me, you are playing Agents? Are you gonna be this easy to read the whole match?" He was... GAME 2 He brings da thunda with Hyperion and BLS and OTKs me. GAME 3 Tengu Pokes for early damage. He manages to drop Hyperion on me, nukes my MF and runs over Tengu. I draw Lonefire. Lonefire -> Spore -> E Con take Hyperion -> banish Lonefire for Spore synch with Tengu for Red Dragon Archfiend (cuz I don't like Gachi Gachi) -> Get last Tengu and swing for exact game.

Record 5 - 0
Round 6 vs Jesse (Fucking Chain Faggot Ass Deck Burn Bullshit)

I lose the die roll. GAME 1 He dualities into Reckless Greed, Ojama Trio, and Lava Golem. Takes the Ojama Trio and sets 5. I'm like OK, this isn't gonna be fun. I summon TGU and he chains off everything leaving me at 4600 while drawing cards off of Accumulated... I pass, he dualities into another just desserts and I scoop. GAME 2 Decree and MST are bitches and didn't want to come to my aid. I lose in 2 turns.

Record 5 - 1

Round 7 vs Dustin (Beastdown Drain)

I lose the die roll. GAME 1 He sets one and passes. I summon TGU -> Sangan. Poke with TGU and he Mirror Forces me and he is acting all non chalant about it. I set two. He double spaces, summons Pitch Black Warwolf and I immediately ask him if he is playing Beastdown with Horn and Drains. He ignores me. He sets 2 and I look him in the eye and say to him, "That one is warning and the other is Horn". I space the card I said was Warning and it was and then said, "that card is Horn...I think I'll have to scoop after this play." I summon TKR and he flips horn when I attack. As we're side decking he loosens up and realizes that I'm not a scrub and is not being so shitty to me anymore. GAME 2 I open with 6 cards that I sided in and win with ease after the judge confirms that JuJu Man is a boss under skill drain. GAME 3 Is long and drawn out. I play flawlessly until the end when I second guess myself and set JuJu Man instead of attacking with it when I have book of moon in hand to his empty field. I was only at 2800 Life and I didn't want him to drop another Barbaros on me FTW so I set it. He plays MST on my Book, Cross Out on my JuJu Man, and summons King Tiger and I can't recover. GGs dude, where ever you are!

Record 5 - 2

So now I'm on tilt cuz I know that I can't top. I sell my bulk shit to the store for massive amounts of money, and get Rares and commons of everything (DT E Cons, rare Veilers, common TKing, etc) for the deck I'm using at the Event and get ready for the last round.

Round 8 vs Alex L (TGU Agents)

I win the die roll. We both know that if we lose we do not get our invite as it is only top 24 who gets it. We also both know that it sucks that we both lost to Chain Burn. GAME 1 Pro Dustshoot when he Dualities into space and then plays it on my Dustshoot. I send back his Effect Veiler, leaving him with Gorz, Hyperion, and Solemn Judgment, and ??? He sets SJ and passes. I set Sangan and Pass. He summons Venus and when he pays 500, I Warning, he Solemns. He pays another 500 and I Maxx C drawing one for one. He stops without making GGG and hits my Sangan netting me Dandylion. I draw Dark Hole and blast his Venus and 2 balls clearing the way for my win when he drops Hyperion. I summon TGU - TGU and pass without attacking into Gorz. He drops Hyperion and runs over my TGU and nukes the other one that I can't synchro with. I draw Econ and decide to go for it. I summon Dandylion -> One for One ditch TKR for Spore. Make Armory Arm -> equip to Hyperion. He asks if I'm gonna ram something into it and I say no. Enemy Controller -> tribute token, take Hyperion -> Poke for 3700 when he was 3250.

Record 6 - 2 19th place, Invite for Nats 2012. Yay me...
After the event I'm super tired and I round up everyone for the shitty drive home. Top 8 consisted of Ryan Newburn and 7 other ppl with 3 TGU Plants, 2 TGU Agents, GKs, TGs, Beastdown Drain being in the top 8.

Everyone said I should have played Decisive Armor over RDA but in 2 weeks of testing I never had the opportunity to make it...the deck doesn't produce 10* very easy. RDA is broke in combination with GGG, Econ/Book. I never used Orient Dragon's effect but I understand how necessary it can be, also milling with Iron Chain backfired on me too many times in test sessions. Leeching the Light is an amazing card if you can pull it off and IF they don't have Gachi Gachi Gentetsu. Mind Crush is just bad if you are in a diverse meta. If you draw it and can use it then great, if you draw it and have no solid read, then it's kinna meh and in my case I almost always wish it were a second Ju Ju Man or Compulsory. Finally, I wish there was solid counter to burn. Losing, in 2 turns while your opponent touches themselves is just enraging.

OMFG! Has Konami gone done fucked up...AGAIN? Yes friends, we are in the midst of the season of TCG Exclusives. Tengu, Tour Guide from the Underworld, and now D-Boyz. Sometimes I'm bothered that a majority of the people that play this game are "B"ad "K"ids and are incapable of predicting trends or quickly analyzing card interactions. How many people do you know that said that Tour Guide was garbage because it could only get Sangan?

FLIP: You can Special Summon any number of “D-Boyz” from your Deck in face-up Attack Position, then you take 1000 damage for each monster Special Summoned by this effect.

I'm not going to immediately say that this card is ZOMFG broken. But in the past, anytime you could spam Monsters from the deck with one card it was a good thing. I will say that this card is rather balanced at first glance. It being a flip effect in a meta full of Boss Monsters makes this rather tame. Also, taking 2k from using the effect in addition to paying for Solemn Warning and any other costed cards you may use will have you feelin tha pain. The fact that the card CANNOT special other D-Boyz from your hand also makes this an absolute shit card to draw multiples of. Unlike Tour Guide, you can always Neg 1 yourself to drop the other TGU from your hand and at least Tengu is a semi beat stick.
I realize that the Konami site has tried to juice this card with it's LOLWOMBOCOMBO examples, but in my opinion, this card is best used in a Grinder/Control deck. Many people remember Protect the Deko format, well this reminds me of that in the sense that it provides easy tribute fodder for Caius and sick creature swap plays.
I feel that Konami is being slick and not telling us something. I have this disturbing feeling that there is some Brok't Ass Rank 1 XYZ yet to be released and D-Boyz allows you to spam it consistently. Time will tell.
Loving life in the Dub K!!!
