It Was A Bug

Water has always been my creative medium for thoughts, blogging, coming up with solutions and so much more. Today I was doing my late afternoon pool workout in our back yard. I had a very nice brunch replete with fennel seed cheddar cheese casserole. 45 minutes into it, I crunched down on a tasty morsel. At first. A second later, it took on a not so fennelly texture, and a not unpleasant but quite strong flavor. I unladylike spit onto our white marble coping and saw it was not a fennel seed at all. I quickly picked it up and saw tiny legs and 4 very skinny legs. But what struck me most was a white smashed something akni to when we were kids and we would pull off the firefly lights from the bodies and place them all over us to glow. And so, my stomach immediately rebelled. I threw up the contents of my late lunch, and I can tell you that black bug looked nothing like a fennel seed! I think back on times when in the water, I had my most peaceful moments. When my Grandfather was passing unbeknownst to me, I had started swimming laps again in our childhood community indoor pool and an old man who I never saw again joined me and praised me on my freestyle stroke (had to be an angel). All during my high school years when I won so many ribbons and beat so many women in tournament meets who were twice my size, being a lifeguard and saving lives, coming up with ideas in the shower, sitting on the edge of the ocean in a beach chair, and later in my 50's excelling in Master Swimming in the early hours of the mornings with ideas brewing in the water for the day ahead. And so, today I realize even though I am in the water, and it is an environment in which I always have creative thoughts and I am in my best me moments, there still will be the very same insects that entered the Garden that fateful day. I will keep my mouth closed now, when I am working out in the pool after my late breakfast, lunch or early dinner. I will be mindful that while I am unable to take notes, jump right out and blog, or store things up in my mind for longer than my workout, I still can enjoy all of the creation that God has given us. I will appreciate knowing that a fennel seed is a fennel seed and will not make me vomit. Isn't it so interesting that our minds have the capability of causing our bodies to be ill so quickly? And then again, I thank God for all of my frailties because if I did not have that reaction and instantly want to share it because of who God is and how He has provided every aspect of Creation, you and I would not be here right now sharing these thoughts together. I praise God and thank Him for creating me just the way I am and loving me so much, that He will not keep me in my sinful state, reacting to my physical limitations and a mind that is so strong it can control my body. Praise God we can daily come to Him and ask Him to make our minds captive to Him. That we can give every thought captive so that we do not vomit in the face of anything. Even so, it would be hard to not fathom vomiting that taste out of my mouth. Just the thought.... and so I instead turn my thoughts to the One who knows me and all my foibles - in water or on dry land - - I would not trade ANYTHING to be in His presence - - - maybe except that bug with 4 legs and an exploded abdomen!

Viviane Woodard At It Again with an Amazing Product! Waterproof Gel Lip Liner

Beautiful and cost saving tool in my beautiful lip arsenal! Okay so I have to admit I have rarely used lip pencils as they seemed to me to be something one had to be skilled to use. However, this gem of a product is so creamy and easy to glide onto my lips that I don’t feel intimidated to use it. I initially was using it with a clear balm to have an easy apply and go especially with traveling it is so much slimmer than a full size lipstick.

However I am now using as a liner and filling in my entire lips. I buff with a tissue (reminds me of my Mom!) then apply clear gloss. It is really pretty! I chose Neopolitan which I feel is a mix of rose and coral. This shade works when I have a tan which is always as I reside in South Florida.

You can sharpen it with a sharpener dedicated to cosmetics or like me, with a regular good old fashioned pencil sharpener. I appreciate seeing the product diminish this way so I know when to reorder. Those liners in the plastic that you twist up do not give you an idea of when you are running out. I do not want to run out of this liner because it is so beautiful, gluten free and so many other good for you specs.

I just love it!

Burberry Body Eau De Toilette Travel Spray - Perfect for Purses Everywhere!

One of my fav fragrances! Okay so I did not have the funds to buy a full size bottle of this perfume. So, I asked the manufacturer for a sample size and they delivered! Yes, these sell for less than 3 bucks on most sites but there is something for nothing waiting around the corner for you if you ask.

I did receive a larger size of this product as a gift with a previous full size fragrance purchase but did not review it. This time I vowed to get the word out because it is so wonderful.

Yes, it is a spray even though the picture looks like a vial. For a sample size to have a spray feature is quite impressive. Perfect for a purse or to slip into your cosmetic bag in your vanity. I just love it and love the fact that it will not go bad not like the full size if it gets too hot or sits too long.

This fragrance is youthful and yet elegant. I recommend it as an add on purchase anytime you shop for perfume.

Viviane Woodard Cameo Liquid Makeup Golden Honey

Golden Honey is my new Go-To over sunblock and without sunblock. I wear it all the time because it is light and gluten-free but most of all is a perfect base for my golden glow cream that gives my old skin a youthful glow!

I do get alot of sun as I work outside in my garden. Sometimes my face is dark and so this medium shade allows me to wear it without adding a darker foundation (which I love Mocha Beige) or alone or like I said over a sun block or with a glow cream.

The best way to apply this I have found is with a facial brush. I use one that is short and hard because this type of brush allows me to mix and swipe all the areas of my face and neck without having a heavy application.

Sometimes I mist with purified water to set it and re-swipe just to get that natural look which will hold up to my 12-hour day and the hot Florida sun. I love my indoor working days as I only need to apply Golden Honey but this product does allow me to control any environment knowing my skin is looking perfect and feeling light and breathable.

I really enjoy it and it has no smell and is not greasy. Thank you Viviane Woodard!

I found this refreshing and very well-organized website in my search for gluten free skincare. I placed my second order after finding out that I would receive a free gift with order of any size. Thus Purifying Glacial Clay entered my life.

First of all, both orders arrived in a beautifully packaged box. I instantly felt celebrated with the black and white polka dot tissue paper and gift bag. I mean, you just know when a company values you and takes time to SHOW they care. I mean yes I was thanked for my order via email confirmation and on the receipt that arrived with the product but to actually SEE the order arrive and I can tell you that the item I did purchase to receive the free gift was not a large order by any means. So I did see that I was celebrated just as much as my initial larger order. So in that sense, this company passed the test with flying colors - and black and white polka dots!

On to the actual product testing. The product was sealed and I understand this packaging is being phased out though this recipe will remain. So getting ahead of myself - Yippeee!!!! 'Cause I really enjoyed this clay. This is not the usual Bentonite Clay which I use often. It did not make me look like I just dove into the mud in my back yard (lol). It was a light green tinge and went on so smoothly. It smelled divine, like the kind you spend lots of $ on at the actual spa. It dried without making me want to itch my face off (like Bentonite clay does).

I left it on longer than the 10-15 minutes indicated because I was just enjoying its smelly goodness. I used the free skin accessory I was gifted with (more on that in a later review) and a thin cloth dipped into warm water. I did not want to use anything abrasive because I wanted to know if this was an actual exfoliate and I can tell you that it is! So the beauty of a clay mask that exfoliates without large tearing or rubbing on the fine skin of your face, neck and decollete is that this method is kinder to your face and allows for you to actually use this product the 2-3 times per week as recommended.

I slathered on their moisturizing product (more on that in another review!) and I just sat down and was amazed at how soft my skin felt and how I got that subtle glow after the moisturizer sunk in.

I recommend this product not only for the price, but for the value in that it truly can replace the pricey clay mask at the spa. Of course I will still go to the spa (who wouldn't continue to spa?) but this frees up a bit of $ for a massage or a body soak you have been waiting to try. It works and it is such a nice change from the chunky, skin tightening Bentonite that I have come to accept as the only clay which will work on my aging skin.

Prolon Fast Mimicking Diet - You Have Got To Try It!

Before

In planning for the New Year I sought out not just a diet or exercise plan but something new which I could apply to my daily life all year long as a healthy introduction to what I have been doing already. My goal was to lose weight and to get my metabolism going again. My challenges were enabling glucose management (I am hypoglycemic), avoiding food allergies (gluten, oats, soy, tapioca, teff) and supporting my thyroid and adrenals. Oh and non-GMO and mostly organic.

Enter the ever-wise Mary at Ovitaminpro.com. She introduced me to the author of this diet and. shared how she and her husband Dr. Dan just attended a seminar regarding Prolon. She shared they were going to try it as the science behind it made sense.

I was on board! I ordered the book and unfortunately it did not arrive before the diet and has not arrived yet but I am excited to read it and eventually glean...

The beautiful white box arrived with everything so well organized and easy to follow. Each day was in a white box labeled Day 1, 2, 3, etc. I really appreciated the big 32 oz. bpa-free bottle as no need for measuring water for the L-Drink which entered on Day 2.

Day 1

I set everything out on my counter in the order in which I would consume each item. The handy dandy laminated card was great as I propped it up against the Day 1 box. I had already found a gluten free substitute for the L-Bar Coco Crisp bar which I could not consume due to containing oats. My husband enjoyed those along with the rest of each day's L-Drink which I felt wasteful if I had just dumped the excess down the drain (more about that in Day 2). I weighed myself early that morning. I also drank a cup of coffee which is allowed. I still would like to know if caffeinated coffee was allowed or just decaf. That was not clear.

The L-Bar (nut based) was yummy! I loved the tomato soup and olive and crackers for lunch. Minestrone soup (blech) seemed like it was old and the veggies stayed hard so I knew I must not have cooked them long enough? I also add more sea salt and cracked black pepper (pepper was a no-no I found out the next day but sea salt fine).

Just before going to bed I felt bloated and uncomfortable but not the usual detox feeling. I felt like I had eaten way too much food and drank too much liquid throughout the day. I was wondering if the tea besides the coffee was necessary. I mean, could I have skipped the tea in the morning?

I emailed Mary and shared my thoughts and I was glad I did because she shared this may be die off from my SIBO. That was encouraging to get her email on Day 2.

Biggest victory (after seeing the scale go up that nite to my highest weight ever! I was wondering on Day 1 nite why I had agreed to this and how was this going to be good for me) was that on Day 1 I had the best night of sleep in my entire life! I kid you not. I slept so well and so peacefully and felt so content. No stomach gassy feeling or needing to use the bathroom just slept like a happy rock.

Day 2

Scale shows I lost 2 lbs from my original weight the morning of Day 1! Woohoo!!! I felt rested and confident and then along with reading Mary's email and the positive encouraging words from Prolon's emails I knew I could endure and thrive the next 4 days.

Let's talk about the L-drink. Confusing to say the least which portion I was supposed to keep and which amount to discard. I actually did it wrong the first time and was glad my husband figured out the cryptic directions. You keep the run off amount on the top. When it gets down to your actual weight line that is what you are supposed to discard. I do not know if it has a shelf life (the remaining portion in the bottle) but I did stash each days "waste" in the fridge and used it in my husband's smoothies in place of stevia or raw honey. Why not? The hibiscus tea in the L-Drink was the winning combo. I did not add ice and it kept taking the edge off my hunger.

Olives? I have never savored an olive before! Not sure why it was so tasty or valuable to the kit, but I missed those olives on Days 3&5! Crackers too! My fav was the tomato soup, crackers and olives. So grateful when those were on the menu! Quinoa Mix soup (double blech).

Day 3

Lost another lb! Day 3 was kind of uneventful other than I had to go to a Women's Bible Study in the morning and so I waited until about 10:30 to eat my L-Bar. I savored the hot coffee at the meeting. I appreciated sleeping in because I knew I could drink my hot tea at home first and then when I headed out have coffee.

You really do need to plan ahead. I appreciated the lack of meal prep or clean up during the entire 5 days. And because I had a cup o joe every morning, I did not feel deprived. However, my one crave starting Day 3 was cheese! I do not understand that at all but I kept thinking about it.

I noticed on Day 3 that I was truly enjoying taking time to consume the little bit of food that I was allowed each and every meal and snack. I was understanding for the first time what mindful eating means. I resented interruptions or distractions while I ate. I suddenly was protective of my meal times and even having the hot tea in the morning became a ritual of savoring. I did make my afternoon tea and then let it steep and cool and I added ice to it. I just needed a bit of refreshment and so I was glad I had saved the lemon mint teabag. The little things in life are to be enjoyed and I do hope this will be a carryover from my Prolon experience!!!

Day 4

No weight loss Day 4. But.....olives 2 times! I was hungry by the time dinner came. I was also ready for bed early. I had felt slightly light headed while sitting at my desk on Day 4 working. I felt physically and mentally spent which was not my usual on a Friday when I work 6 hours. I would not say I felt cranky or detoxy but just kind of down. I took time to analyze what I was feeling and realized my physical deprivation was having an effect on me emotionally. I was feeling the loss of the social aspect of cooking dinner for my husband and I and together sipping a glass of cabernet and then enjoying a bit of dark chocolate for dessert.

I stopped and gave myself permission to mourn the loss of the routine of my days. And then reminded myself from that morning's inspiration email from Prolon that this was just 5 days and then my routine would return to normal but a new normal of not taking those blessings for granted. I also got real with the fact that I my body does need and enjoy protein and so by now feeling slightly deprived is probably a good thing! We can get so in our heads and belittle ourselves with negative self talk. I mean, really we need to go easy on ourselves sometimes!

I shared this with Mary via phone as she was so good about calling me back when I left a voicemail with the answering service. I left a message to leave me a voicemail about a product but when I saw it was Mary calling, I did pick up. Her friendly voice was comforting and uplifting.

She spent as much time as I needed in answering my questions. You just do not often get that kind of care and personalized counsel from a busy company. Mary was happy to know it was the end of my mimicking fast and despite my desire to eat baked manicotti on my transition day Sunday, she shared a piece of fresh fish and veggies would be best as my body really needed the protein. I agreed the baked manicotti could wait. Little did I know at the time how hard the transition would be even with fish.

Day 5

Yes my last day was on a Saturday in which I had to work 9-6. The highlight of my last day was tomato soup with crackers for lunch. I went to bed early Day 5 with dreams of waking and making the snapper en papillote, sticky rice, avocado and orange juice for breakfast.

Happily, I took my last sip of the L-Drink and set the bottle in the sink. I took all 5 white boxes and the big box to the garage to use for Christmas decorations. I just love anything white.

I had done it! I knew at that moment I would do Prolon again. Actually, my plan is to do another one in March then run my blood labs and then do another in May and then run my labs again.

On Day 5 my husband and I both commented on how great my skin on my face looked. And that my face was so much thinner. It was like I woke up in my younger body. I could also see my legs and butt looked slightly smaller in my leggings. The scale only read one lb less than the day before on Day 5. However, I felt like a completely different person and my mood was great. Throughout the 5 days, there were highs and lows but the lows were offset by the sense of "euphoria" you get when fasting. However, I did not have the same feeling of a normal diet due to the L-Drink supporting my glucose needs. I am just so intrigued to learn more!

Transition Day

I wish I had spent even more time researching the day after! I felt fabulous at church. So happy, so skinny so full of energy. I was actually afraid to drink a cup of coffee because I already had way too much energy. I felt confident and knew I looked so much better than the Sunday before. I serve in the lobby before, during and after service so I see so many of the same people each and every Sunday. I could see the interest and attention I do not usually get. Flattering to say the least!

Fast forward past lunch and I should never have had a glass of red wine! I got a sense of heart burn and felt "off" as the serenity I had felt earlier in the day seemed to fade at that point. I do not know if it was a sugar spike or just too acidic but I wished I had not had a glass of wine on the Transition Day. Next time I will do better. I was so excited to eat I know now I did not eat slowly enough. That no doubt contributed to the heart burn sensation.

In Conclusion

As I sit here now pondering this quite intriguing concept which is fast mimicking, I can share with you that I still have a lot to learn! I am so shocked to say that I wish I were still on it because although it was a challenge and most of the soups being quite blechy (sorry Prolon) I felt so good! I wish we could have all the benefits of it and still the vino, carbs and chocolate.

While I did take my thyroid supplements in half the amount each of the 5 days I felt when I went off the cleanse, my body was not thanking me for that so next time I will stay on the thyroid supplements as normal.

Sipping in Style by Kiss Me Organics

As an online influencer I was asked to review the Kiss Me Organics Steep & Strain Ceramic Tea Mug. Of course I said YES! This beaut arrived in a big green box with plenty of packing material as well as a steeper, ceramic lid and BPA free silicone lid. It felt like a lot of care had gone into making sure this item arrived perfectly. I felt the Mug Love!

Super perfect to have a strainer with a hook on the side to just lay over my mug and then voila! my bulk teas do not need a tea ball and I can just easily chuck into my counter top compost bucket.

There is a plug in the very bottom which I appreciate. I will be hand washing it and not microwaving due to the silicone plug in the bottom. But this mug is so ceramic (is that even an adjective?) that the coffee and tea just wipe right out not like those inexpensive mugs which have residue and you need baking soda to scrub it clean. Ya know those end up as pen holders...

The ceramic lid sits snugly atop for steeping and the silicone lid is nice for in the car. My stainless straw fits right in it and I feel quite prepared to head out the door with my steamy cup of tea.

Best of all are the little green double dots on the white background. My new fav color is green on white and so this makes me smile every time I grab the Steep & Strain from the cabinet.

The Way to God by Dwight L. Moody

I loved this book not only because I am a fan of the late Dr. Dwight L. Moody and Moody Bible Institute and the great radio station we have here in Florida thanks to Moody, but because this book was targeted to not on the unsaved but the backslider as well!

Rich with Scripture, although I am not familiar with the Jubilee Bible translation, I do appreciate the references along with Scripture in italics. This way, I can study the Scripture presented in many different translations of my choosing for further study.

The mission statement I believe of this amazing work is a warning to be saved because time is running short until Jesus returns. The Scripture used for this mission statement was clearly Matthew 4:17.

My favorite part of this book was the backsliding section at the end. Although I do believe the call to salvation is much more important, I do believe that this section may speak to Christians who need the wake up call that the author presents for we will regret if we do not store up eternal rewards or are not ready when Jesus returns. I found this section forthright as well as inspiring. I love the clear direct way that D.L Moody presents the truths of God. We need more of this wisdom in our day of ticking the ears of Christians for entertainment-sake.

I love this book because it is the kind of book one will keep in his or her library. It is a valuable tool not only for the believer but for the unbeliever as well. I could see buying this book for a friend as it really is a great tool to teach the unsaved.

Who doesn't love Scripture daily along with being inspired as one reflects on how "God speaks through nature?"

This beautifully illustrated gift book is endowed with rose gold foil along with a handy petite gold ribbon which hangs low in order for the reader to never lose is or her place!

The bulk of Scripture listed in this beautiful work of art is New Living Translation. Other Scripture which is noted is 2011 and ESV. Not a fan of the new NIV so happy to know that the New Living Translation is the bulk of the Scripture.

I love the fonts and the shiny paper. The photographs so beautiful!

At the end of each chapter are 3 sections: Reflect, Apply and Connect with God. This format speaks a weekly devotional to me as opposed to a daily devotion. Francine challenges us to do something "this week."

Many of the week's reading is written about Francine River's family or experiences. I loved hearing more about this amazing writer through the pages of this book.

My favorite chapter was Chapter 15: God's Thoughtful Creation. This chapter was about her trip to Claude Monet's inspirational garden. This chapter was so interesting and unexpected (do not want to be a spoiler).

What a blessing to read and own this fine work of Ms. Rivers! This book has a special place in my heart and on my bookshelf. I will buy many friends this book as it is truly the perfect gift!

Holy healthy living. This is truly what I aspire to and I aspire to share healthy habits with my family as well. Quiwi Foods has made this endeavor that much easier with the Turmeric Powder they have so generously provided for this review.

First of all, this item is so affordable and the 1 lb package arrived flat and easier to store until you open it. It does have a resealable seal but you will want to store it in an air tight glass container once you open it as it so fresh and pungent. You will want to keep it that way as when you are ready to use it, you want it to be the same bright beautiful color as well so you will know you are getting the most antioxidant goodness you can get! Also, if you do not keep this item in an air tight container, it may affect other items next to it as it can affect the taste of other food items if not in an airtight container. It is that fresh and strong!

I bought a capsule maker machine awhile back and really do enjoy making my own ginger capsules and as well as kelp capsules. This was my first foray into combining ginger powder with turmeric powder. My goal is to cut down on my digestive enzymes during meals. Because this Turmeric Powder was so fine it was easy peasy to mix with ginger (which was the same grind) to make the capsules. The Turmeric Powder did become less powdery and a bit heavier in consistency as there is a high humidity in my South Florida kitchen when I made the capsules.

I have to be honest in that I do not like Turmeric Powder of any ilk in my food and I did not test this powder in my food either. I prefer to take the vegetable capsules which I make instead so I cannot tell you how it tasted in food.

I did not have any after burps with the capsules and I did not have any indigestion so I know this product was high grade and a very important item for my pantry!

So happy to have found this must-have digestive aid! This product was my first review for the BetterGenix line by OvitaminPro. I had been using Apex digestive aids for the past year. While they were working well, I did have to increase the amount I took in order to avoid the heart burn which I had been suffering from for so long. As a result, I began spending more and more as I needed to keep increasing the amount in order to feel good after eating. Apex is wonderful but I was looking for a better way to cut my budget.

I took one EnzymeGenix™ just before breakfast in place of the Apex product I had been taking. I was so happy as I had the same results and did not get heartburn! I took this product just before breakfast for 3 straight mornings = success!

I proceeded to lunch and soon realized I needed to take 2 just before lunch in order to avoid heartburn or reflux. I have a very sensitive stomach so after taking 2 I was pleased to have success with this product!

Dinner was a different story though. I do not know if I did not have as good of a result with dinner because we eat so late, or because I take numerous supplements currently with dinner, but even with taking 3 EnzymeGenix™ I still had a bit of burning in my belly.

I will soon be blood testing and seeing my doctor and hopefully will be taking less supplements at night which will help with heartburn. This product is dairy free, gluten free, and I like the enteric coating so much better than the capsules I have been taking. I also appreciate that it has calcium as I do not take calcium in any of the other supplements I currently take.

Best part is that I am going to save a ton of money taking this product! I would not promote this product if it did not work. I totally agree that sometimes trying to cut corners you end up wasting money. Oh my goodness (literally)! I have been seeking cacao nibs which have a low sugar, cholesterol and sodium content. This product not only has low sugar, cholesterol and sodium but no sugar, cholesterol or sodium! As soon as I ripped open the packaging (couldn't wait to get started!) I could smell the burniliciously good chocolately aroma (I made up those words). Not sure what gives these nibs the almost smoky smell but I love it!

The dietary fiber is just under 40% for a 2 tablespoon serving size. These raw cacao nibs will be the perfect snack and 2 tablespoons is a handful of raw cacao nibs. So good for you and these cacao nibs actually taste like chocolate and have a crunchy texture. I cannot something so tasty can also be so good for you and even though the saturated fat is 7 grams, it is the good for you fat like avocados and coconut oil.

I also appreciate the iron, calcium, zinc potassium and magnesium.

This product arrived quickly and was packaged in a sturdy, attractive re-sealable plastic packaging. Of course I transferred it to a glass jar in my snack pantry as it is such a beautiful product and seeing it next to all of my other healthy snacks makes me smile.

I could not wait to post this review because this is truly a product which I cannot stop singing its praises. My first adventure with this 21-day detox system was with the ClearVite chocolate flavor a year ago. This product is the same product but it is vanilla. The first time I used this product I have to say it was a challenge. There is a food guide which you need to adhere to. Also, the program is like a "ladder" meaning you increase the amount of scoops and then come back down with the amount of scoops as you near the 21-day mark.

I just finished my second go 'round with ClearVite a month ago. While the food program was so much easier (I had adopted the food plan in my daily life as I felt so much better eating the ClearVite way) this time, the vanilla was not as good as the chocolate. I know taste is preferential. I had an aftertaste with the vanilla. The chocolate was not sweet but it felt more like a milkshake even when mixed with the same amount of water.

For my program, my doctor again advised we deviate from the standard directions given with this product. As a result, I went through 1 1/2 containers as compared to just using 1 container. My protocol was:
Days 1-4, one shake b4 breakfast.
Days 5-7, one shake b4 breakfast and one b4 dinner.
Days 8-14 one b4 breakfast lunch and dinner.
Days 15-17 one b4 breakfast one b4 dinner.
Day 18-21 one shake b4 breakfast.

One shake = 2 scoops.

I keep the containers as they are food safe and bright white (and I think beautiful!). I fill them with cookies at Christmastime and give as gifts. Why not?

The first 3 days of this detox I felt cranky as my body was eliminating toxins. Midway through I slept so good and I started having more energy. I had more time as well since no more coffee (decaf even) and no wine. I steamed veggies until I could steam no more and then during the no animal proteins I ate even more veggies and enjoyed quinoa as if it were caviar. Needless to say, I lost 8 lbs. and my skin and eyes were clearer (and still are).

ClearVite is a plan and not just a product. With the complexities of my health, I know this detox is a must do item every six months. I have learned that I do not drink enough water or take in enough fiber as during this plan I became constipated quite often (ewwww). I am a firm believer in disciplines in which we take a step back and slow down so that we can reset not only our bodies but our minds as well. And so the first 3 days were my reset days in which I realized that I often forget to take care of this temple God has given me.

The Button Legacy by Ginger Marcinkowski

Rarely do I come across a book I consider my friend and so gleefully I declare that I already miss my time in the pages of this wonderful read which had quickly become my daily friend. Without being a spoiler, the author Ginger Marcinkowski had a warm way of drawing me into the lives of a family of which I feel are now a part of my heart. I wished I had first read the previous book by the same author which is Run, River Currents which precedes The Button Legacy.

Nevertheless, I cheered and cried and was taken back to my own childhood memories. This book's theme is the story telling of those who wore garments with the buttons which the family had kept. Stories were told of the buttons and the people surrounding the history of the buttons.

In Chapter One, my memory of my mother's button canister came back to me. I remembered smelling the buttons. Yes, they had a certain smell. I had forgotten the smell until I read this book. Reading a book and being reminded of good childhood memories is such a precious gift!

The gentle weaving of God into the pages made me feel at home. This book was a testament to a gentle evangelism as I very much appreciated the respect and honor given by the parents leaving their children a godly heritage. I wish I had the same love bestowed on me from my own grandfather, I know it would have made me feel special and loved and I know it would have made a big difference in how I would see myself as I grew into a woman. Alas, more reasons to love having been drawn into this book and having this book on my bookshelf as a reminder that books can become friends. Stories can be blessings and blessings can be gleaned from sharing stories about buttons.

I will never look at buttons the same way again! I most likely will do as this family did and cut buttons off clothing which held memories. I will choose the buttons which hold positive memories as well as dark days. I want to remember everything because we know the dark days allow the bright days to shine even brighter.

I recently reviewed Immuno PRP Powder by NuMedica. That product was a new find for me recommended by my doctor. Upon my recent wellness checkup, my doctor and I discussed me eliminating casein from my diet while I did the 21- day Clearvite Detox. I wondered if casein could be the culprit for some of my allergies such as runny nose in the morning (just after taking my Immuno PRP Powder. Immuno PRP Powder contains casein).

My doctor recommended this handy 5 oz. spray as it does not contain casein. I could not sing its praises more! My symptoms went away during my 21 day detox. However, I did eliminate all dairy products and whey also during those 21 days, so I knew I had to re-introduce casein after the 21 Day detox to see if casein was ever really an issue.

Immuno PRP Spray would give me some immune help but not as much as the powder. For this reason my doctor advised that if I began to have an autoimmune flareup I would need to not just take 4 sprays in the morning and at night, but also take 4 sprays in the afternoon until I felt better (I did have a flareup of a cold just after starting the spray, but I took my doctor's advise and felt much better in just two days time.)

I find the spray convenient and much easier to spray than scoop powder into water and mix.

I am grateful to www.ovitaminpro.com as I did not realize I was supposed to spray into my mouth and wait 30 seconds before swallowing. Not sure of the benefit of doing this, but I will now wait 30 seconds before swallowing!

I realized after comparing these two seemingly similar products that even with my doctor's help advising what I need and when, I still need to be educated about what I am putting into my body. Having the knowledge about the product allows me to question and learn more so that I can become an active participant with my doctor to achieve my best health ever.

Workout. Some may consider this word anathema. I do not. I consider this word just as important as the air I breathe, a blessing, a necessity, a vacation for limbs in need of stretching and the solution for stiff joints which are screaming for movement.

2015 was a year-long detox. My year consisted of gluten purging, blood testing and being flat on my back and sick to my stomach for days on end. Finally being cleared by my doc to workout again, I tried to swim in my morning Masters workout after not swimming for 8 months. What was worse than being out of breath and feeling like my limbs were licorice was the fact that I had heartburn. Really bad. The heartburn actually started within a minute of becoming horizontal in the water. This fact was hard for me to accept because I had just become victorious in defeating leaky gut, excessive candida and acid reflux.

Defeated, I stood at the end of the lane. I was not only weak and feeling like this was my first day ever working out in the water, but I also was frustrated because of the burning in the pit of my stomach. I am allergic to gluten. Not sensitive. Allergic. I asked my doctor what I can do when I eat out and worry about eating a salad which has come in contact with gluten (yes, that is all I feel safe eating out these days). He told me about GlutenFlam by Apex Energetics. I keep this amazing product in my purse, have a bottle in the car and I also keep a bottle at home.

I am supposed to take 1 before a meal if I feel I may be contaminated and then if I know I have been contaminated to take two after the contamination event. Being new to this gluten allergy existence, I made the mistake of eating out 3 times in restaurants which claimed to offer a "gluten free choice". I ate french fries at Chick Fil A because I was told they were gluten free. Within moments I felt that tingly feeling which led to a racing heart and then that scary feeling like my body is a bit detached from my brain. If you are allergic to gluten you understand this strange and uncomfortable feeling. I did not have the GlutenFlam with me. Big mistake.

I ate a "gluten free" lunch at Ruby Tuesday and upon walking back to the car Bam! that tingly feeling and then the strange sick feeling which I had experienced at Chik Fil A. I did not have GlutenFlam with me that day either. Big mistake.

Fool me once. Fool me twice. But three times? Yeah. I had one last experience on vacation. I had spinach and eggs with onions. Obviously it was prepared on a cook top which had gluten because I suffered again. I now know my body and I respect and trust how it feels!

The problem in all 3 of these scenarios is that I caused my body to have 6 months of gluten in my system. If I had the GlutenFlam with me I would have done my body good by being preventive. I would still have to pay for price of cross contamination but it would have been wise to take the GlutenFlam and I would not have felt sick immediately after or the next day.

Unfortunately, the world we live in does not understand gluten free at all. A restaurant cannot have gluten free food unless the entire restaurant purges every bit of gluten in it and has not prepared gluten on a cook top or pan - ever.

My local pizzeria proudly advertises "Gluten Free Pepperoni Pizza" and yet cooks the pizza in the same pizza oven, next to the man throwing the gluten flour in the air and cuts the "gluten free" pizza with the same pizza cutter as the gluten pizza. This is so unfair to those of us who become very sick when exposed to gluten. I believe our country should be better at regulating the restaurant industry as this is a gross misrepresentation of a very serious allergy. It hurts those of us who cannot tolerate gluten in any form.

I know gluten has been a trend but it is time we educate others. One person at a time needs to know that this allergy is the same as a nut or shrimp allergy. It is that serious. I try and not get frustrated when others minimize my plight. "Oh just eat some bread! Just this one time. Is it really that serious?!" Walk a day in my shoes....

I highly recommend GlutenFlam as essential for every person who suffers from gluten allergy. I do take one GlutenFlam when I am feeling run down or have become slightly constipated. The stool does change to a lighter clay color and is a bit softer y (tmi). I feel better instantly. Doing this for my body reminds me of my month gluten detox my doctor advised. Organic Ground Flaxseed by Viva Labs

I cut open this product and instantly was assaulted with a toasty, earthy healthy smelling flaxseed aroma! I know this item was fresh because I have never experienced such a pungent smell with any ground seed I have purchased.

I added this product to my morning yogurt. It mixed in really well and did not get soggy. Of course I felt great knowing I was eating healthy organic fiber with omega-3 fatty acids.

I often overlook fiber in my diet. However, when fiber is this tasty, it is easy to remember to add it to cereal, smoothies, yogurt and baked goods to replace flour or eggs.

I keep this pouch in the freezer just to make sure it stays the freshest it can be for the longest time. Since this item is a generous 15 oz (excellent buy for $8.99 on Amazon.com) it will last a few months and I do not want it to get rancid in the South Florida temperatures.

More kudos to Viva Labs in offering this product: Non GMO, Vegan, and Gluten Free. So wonderful to have all of these benefits in a fiber. I am so wary of products like Metamucil (now re-marketed as Meta) which add unnecessary chemicals and preservatives, dyes and so much more. Emulsi-D3 Synergy by Designs For Health is another exciting product which my doctor advised as an essential component of my Wellness Plan! I have always thought that since I am in the sun often with my husband on the boat that even I was getting enough of this sunshine vitamin. I "heard" I needed to stay in the sun 15-20 minutes without sunblock to absorb the Vitamin D effectively. I did that for years and just assumed living in sunny South Florida was enough for me to skip this vitamin (other than in a multivitamin I used to take).

My doctor wisely explained the need for me to take this product for life. At first, I gagged on the taste. He told me to double the dosage (1 mil which is 1 dropper is considered a serving). I tried and tried but the syrupy sweet fruity product was not good. I told my doctor about my unpleasant struggle to swallow this "supplement". He told me he enjoyed the taste and consistency. I told him he was crazy. We had a good laugh and then he proceeded to sing the praises of this Designs For Health essential product,

First, it is gluten free. It contains K1 and K2. My understanding of K1 is that it serves as an anticoagulant. K1 is available in leafy green vegetables. However, word on the street is that our bodies only absorb about 10% of K from the leafy green veggies we eat.

K2 can be absorbed from cheese and aids in cardiovascular health. K2 appears to improve vascular blood flow to the brain. This is personal to me, as my dad first suffered Parkinson's and now has Alzheimer's. He did not have to be a victim of either disease and now with what my doctor has shared with me - I will not have to have dementia later in life. I am empowered and committed to spending the time and energy (as well as $$) on prevention.

I did call Designs For Health because I was concerned about the source of Vitamin E ( I am allergic to Alpha Tocopherol). The Vitamin E is sourced from palm. Great news!

With the above benefits in mind, I did find a solution to the gagilicious (being honest) flavor and consistency of Emulsi-D3 Synergy. Since I need to take this product at night (you take the oily/fatty supplements with the fattiest meal of the day), I take it at the end of my meal with seltzer water. I drop two droppers at the back of my throat and then slug down seltzer water. Better! The fizz somehow distracted me from the taste and now ingesting is doable!

Not every product I review is 100% pleasant or effective. However, the benefits far outweigh the negative aspects of this product. I also appreciate that I can reuse this bottle as the label peels off easily. I use the bottle for my homemade remedies and give as gifts as well. Recycling with purpose....

This year my doctor advised blood testing and adrenal testing (a saliva test) as well as food allergy testing. I receivved the news that I was allergic to gluten and soy as well as tapioca (which is the main flour substitute in all gluten free breads and products ie. Mellow Mushroom pizza). I also was told I had Hypothyroidism.

Relieved was I on my initial diagnosis to find out that I did not have to go the Armor Thyroid route or other! My doctor advised 2 capsules of Thyroxal K-12 every meal (along with Digestive Enzymes). Since there are 90 capsules in each bottle I would need 9 per day. Do the math = cha ching!

A Moment of Weakness by Karen Kingsbury

It has been a long time since I have read a fiction book for review. And I gotta tell ya I was so happy to have accepted A Moment of Weakness for review! Reading this book I immediately fell into the storyline. I found myself allowing an hour to read and then spent many hours in a comfy chair on my back porch. I hated to put this book down and I was sad for it to end!

Jade Connor was cool. Just a downright strong women with a heart of gold. She was a victim of many sad people's ignorance. Without being a spoiler, I did shake my fist a few times and ask "Why Jade? Why did you do it?" I just felt she led with her emotions too often and it made me frustrated. But I loved her because I saw me in her - the person who does not give up and always looks for the good in others. And I was happy to know her faith journey led her far.

In trying to find a fault in this book, I came up short. I could not find a single detail, errror or inconsistency. I only share that because in reading an entire book, there is always one picayune detail I come up with which I feel the need to share.

I realized in reading A Moment of Weakness that I need to read more Karen Kingsbury books! Her writing style is so fresh and to the point. I like that the details are not over emphasized or "wordy". She writes with crisp sentences and I do believe this is what makes me so easily get drawn into the story. I feel like Jade and Tanner are my friends. For the one week it took me to finish this book, I felt their presence as I thought often of them and what would happen in their world.

I cried, laughed and just thoroughly enjoyed A Moment of Weakness. I need to do more of this type of reading. These types of books are like a spa day for your soul. Reading truly does take you places can never go. I want to be in Jade and Tanner's world forever.....

300+ pages of eye-opening information which every wise purchaser of anything supplement or drug-related needs in the evil days in which we are living! I was excited to review this hardcover book for many reasons. However, the takeaway which stuck with me the most was the new knowledge I have gained regarding the FDA and the corruption which exists in our government when it comes to trying to control the entire health care industry.

As the daughter of a Hospital Director of Pharmacy and Geriatric Specialist, I knew a bit about business aspect of the drug industry. I saw the little trinkets and logo laden pads, pens and letter openers enter our home growing up. Not a Christmas went by that a generic drug promotional this or that was not stuffed into our Christmas stocking. My Dad liked the attention of the drug reps and he would often beam when discussing how he was courted. I was also used to my Dad's homemade drug concoctions and being comforted by a spoonful of this or a spoonful of that. A pill would heal any ill! While other Dads would bring home pens from the office, we got many colored pills in safety cap orange plastic bottles.

Yes, as an adult I have paid the price for this self drugging. And so, my search for a better way had led my husband and I to Life Extension www.lef.org. And so, after reading Pharmocracy, I have come to fully understand just how cozy the FDA is with the drug industry. And it makes me burning mad!

In my recent one year commitment to better health, my doctor included this item in my health care (drug free) protocol. I saw another Adrenastim on www.ovitaminpro.com. The one prescribed for me is KR-72 and the other is KR-15. You do not need a prescription for this item. However, it is very important that you do receive counsel.

I was excited to post this review because this item was not the easiest to figure out how to use. My doctor told me to "pump" a quarter-sized amount in the morning before coffee and then just before lunch. Looking back now, It would have been a good idea if I had shown him what my interpretation of a quarter-sized pump looked like. As it turned out, I had been pumping much less than I needed the first 5 months omg). I felt like I had wasted my efforts as I did not receive the benefit like I could have had I been using the correct amount from Day 1). After increasing the pump size, I started getting hot flashes and racing thoughts long into the night. I was actually then using too much!

Figuring out what was causing these uncomfortable symptoms was an inconvenience because I had just started several new supplements and was detoxing for leaky gut syndrome. I had to experiment with the process of elimination. It was the high amount of product along with another adrenal support supplement I had been taking that caused the hot flashing and racing thoughts into the night. We finally found the right amount and schedule.

I did not mind the slight smell but I did get a rash on my arms because I was not taking turns applying to the inside of my legs. The rash went away pretty quickly.

Just last month, the hot flashes and night sweats returned. I was a pro now at knowing how my body was reacting to this product. I emailed my doctor and he told me that my body had announced that my adrenals were now 100% happy (he didn't actually say that but it was my interpretation).

I feel more confident and less anxious after using Adrenastim. If you have adrenal fatigue, you know how easily you can go from calm to anxious. I know now when I do feel the stress coming on that I can take a moment and breathe deep, get away from the stressful situation if possible and take care of myself. If I cannot get away even for a moment I know that my body will now be able to handle the adrenaline rush which used to cause me to panic and be light headed quite easily.

There is so much to love about this product! I truly appreciate the ingredients (see below). Gluten free too which is my new reality.

Vitamin D3 by Viva Labs - TLC In A Softgel!

I agreed to accept this product from Viva Labs because this product is perfect for my husband! (Yes, I supplement with a D3 with K supplement, but I need a Gluten Free Certified supplement.) What interested me in this product was the fact that the oil which is used to suspend the D3 is olive oil. Excellent! Check. The second major bonus is no soy! Check. Thirdly (why not?), Non-GMO as advertised on the Amazon.

I would have liked to see soy free and Non-GMO listed on the bottle. Just a suggestion.

Although we live in sunny South Florida and my husband and I are always in the sun, we do use sunscreen. Therefore, my doctor has advised that D3 will be one of the few supplements we will need to take for life. And so, because Viva Labs D3 is a generous 5,000 IU in each 1 softgel - this product is a no-brainer!

Also, the price is so good. There are 360 softgels in each bottle. This is a year's worth of D3 supplementation for $12.30 + shipping ($0.00 if you have Prime). You do the math!

The manufacturer also offers quantity discounts, which is great for e-tailers and brick and mortar stores. I like that this item is Made in the USA. That excites me!

I keep ours in the fridge just because any oil product has the chance to go rancid where I live. I have also learned to take this oily supplement with the fattiest meal of the day just so my body can get all of the goodness absorbed as possible. Therefore, I hand my hubby this supplement alongside his pasta or steak, or whatever I am whipping up that nite! TLC in a softgel....
