Luxurious living in the Lost city of South Africa

Thankfully, I have experienced one of the most Luxurious hotel in South Africa. They call this the Sun city – Africa’s Kingdom of pleasure. They formed the hotel into a kingdom just for you to experience how to be an African king.

Just to give you an idea, staying for a night in this gorgeous palace cost around $750- $800 a night. This is one the world's most unique resort, Sun City. Find yourself lost in a deep in the rugged forest. You will have the opportunity to spend the afternoon at Sun City with so many options to choose from, there's plenty to occupy your free time. Attractions include a golf course, Butterfly World, Cultural Village, wave and swimming pools Lost City, and numerous bars, casinos and restaurants.

During my free time, I got to spend the whole day just going around the resort. Let me repeat, THE WHOLE DAY. I had to hire a personal guide just to get me through the whole palace, jungle, Royal lagoon, Hidden caves and falls.

Philippines UNESCO World Heritage Sites

The World Heritage List includes 936 properties, 5 of which belongs to the Philippines forming part of the cultural and natural heritage which the World Heritage Committee considers as having outstanding universal value.

Baroque Churches of the Philippines

Paoay Church (San Agustin Church), Paoay, Ilocos Norte

Paoay Church or also known as San Agustin Church took 90 years (from 1704) to build and is made from lumber, coral stones, baked brick and limestone mortar with sugar cane juice. It is an architectural marvel influenced by gothic, baroque and oriental styles. It is the best known "earthquake baroque" church in the Philippines with 24 immense side buttresses to support the structure and 1.67 meter thick walls. It is said that this is the most photographed church in the Philippines.

Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva in Iloilo (Miag-ao)

Located in Miag-ao, Iloilo in Visayas, Philippines is the Baroque-style Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva that was built in 1786. The Church of Santo Tomas de Villanueva tastefully exhibits lore of the local people Miagaowanons.Its façade, highlighted by two belfries on both sides, features native flora, fauna, clothing, and the coconut tree, which has been known as the tree of life in Miag-ao.

Concealed behind the walled city of Intramuros, built by the Spaniards in 1570, is the church of San Agustin. This church is a significant monument to the Spanish colonization of the Philippines, being the first religious structure built in the island of Luzon, after the Spanish relocated from Cebu in the south. Built within the administrative center of the Spanish government, San Agustin church enjoyed privileges not commonly dispensed to most colonial churches. It was built by the Spaniard Juan Macias in 1586 and was completed in 1606. Luciano Oliver later renovated it in 1854.

Santa Maria Church (Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion Church), Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur

The Santa Maria Church was built on 1769 in the town of Santa Maria in Ilocos Sur. The church was built for Our Lady Of The Assumption and it was built on top of a hill. They say that they built the church there because a long time ago a statue of the Virgin Mary from another place would disappear and find itself perched on a guava tree which was on top of this hill.

Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park

The Tubbataha Reef Marine Park covers 130,028 ha, including the North and South Reefs. It is a unique example of an atoll reef with a very high density of marine species; the North Islet serving as a nesting site for birds and marine turtles. The site is an excellent example of a pristine coral reef with a spectacular 100-m perpendicular wall, extensive lagoons and two coral islands.

Banaue Rice Terraces

For 2,000 years, the high rice fields of the Ifugao have followed the contours of the mountains. The fruit of knowledge handed down from one generation to the next, and the expression of sacred traditions and a delicate social balance, they have helped to create a landscape of great beauty that expresses the harmony between humankind and the environment.

Historic Town of Vigan

Established in the 16th century, Vigan is the best-preserved example of a planned Spanish colonial town in Asia. Its architecture reflects the coming together of cultural elements from elsewhere in the Philippines, from China and from Europe, resulting in a culture and townscape that have no parallel anywhere in East and South-East Asia.

Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park

This park features a spectacular limestone karst landscape with an underground river. One of the river's distinguishing features is that it emerges directly into the sea, and its lower portion is subject to tidal influences. The area also represents a significant habitat for biodiversity conservation. The site contains a full 'mountain-to-sea' ecosystem and has some of the most important forests in Asia.

IRAN: Discovering Persopolis

Iran is one of the most ancient countries of the planet. Thousands of monuments and picturesque attractions make Iran a hot tourism spot. The Iranian style of architecture is unique and creative, One example of that piece is the Persopolis, also known as Takht-e Jamshid (Throne of Jamshid). Persopolis is also in the list of Unesco world heritage site, a must see when visiting Iran. The Persopolis although in ruins, it remains a jewel and a legacy of the Persian Empire. What you will see today is only a glimpse of its former glory, its proof that this ancient city was lost for thousands of years. Believing to be built in 518 B.C., I can only be in awe and be amazed of this structure.

A brief history about Persopolis

"The magnificent palace complex at Persepolis was founded by Darius the Great around 518 B.C., although more than a century passed before it was finally completed. Conceived to be the seat of government for the Achaemenian kings and a center for receptions and ceremonial festivities, the wealth of the Persian empire was evident in all aspects of its construction. The splendor of Persepolis, however, was short-lived; the palaces were looted and burned by Alexander the Great in 331-330 B.C. The ruins were not excavated until the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago sponsored an archaeological expedition to Persepolis and its environs under the supervision of Professor Ernst Herzfeld from 1931 to 1934, and Erich F. Schmidt from 1934 to 1939. "

How to get here:

Persopolis is located in Shiraz south of Tehran. From tehran you can take Iran air to fly to Shiraz, It only takes 1.25 hours, and from the airport It will only take 1 hour drive to Persopolis.

4 Easy Tips to Get a Schengen Visa (Philippines)

There a lot of horror stories you hear from your friends about the nightmare of getting Schengen visas. In other words, it’s really not that easy. But ever since I started travelling, I have been approved of several Schengen visas with different countries, and thankfully, not once have I been denied. I thought of suggesting these simple tips that will help you get through the application.

First things first, here are the Schengen countries and Embassies/Consulate in the Philippines:

1. The number one rule: Apply to the Schengen country where are you going to stay the longest, not on the first European destination you enter. For example: You’re going on a France and Italy combination tour. (5 days in France and 6 days in Italy) You must apply at the Italian embassy, not the French embassy. A lot of people do not know this and commit this mistake, hence, their application for visa gets denied.

2. Planning: You must plan your trip and itinerary 5 months ahead. Not everyone knows this either, but one of the requirements of the Schengen embassies is to have a confirmed booking of the hotels and flights. It will take at least a month to get the confirmation. Usually, the processing of visas takes 15 working days (3 weeks) and the maximum is around 60 days (2 months). Also sometimes, during interviews, the consulate will ask for extra requirements. In case this happens, it’s good that you have enough time to attend to it.

3. I suggest joining a Group tour. I believe this is the best way to get a Schengen visa for your trip. A good travel agency will be able to provide a very good itinerary, the confirmation of hotels, travel insurance, and a certification from the counterpart countries.

4. Financial Stability. This might be the hardest, but to tell you the truth this is what they are careful to look into. But if you plan, save right, and get all your documents and certification prepared and in order, there’s really no problem at all. (By the way here is a very good blog to manage your finances. Well, these are only my tips and suggestions. I can’t guarantee 100% that you will get a Schengen visa, but I’m sure this will help give you a good possibility. J

Mayan village buried by the ashes of a volcanic eruption centuries ago where houses, utensils and plantations remained intact and have allowed studying the Mayan lifestyle.

Top 5 Must-Have Apps while Traveling

Thanks to Apple and Steve jobs, travelling has been an ease compared to the olden days. We used to carry around laptops and maps; but thanks to the iPhone and iPad that with just a single tap, you could do anything. I have here 5 of my favorite apps which I ALWAYS use every time I travel, making my trip productive and most of all MONEY SAVING.

5.Viber

One of the best apps out there. Communicating back home is one of the most important things, whether it’s a text or a call. This is one thing everybody does. Viber is an application that lets you make free phone calls and send free text messages to other iPhone or iPad users, as long as there is Wifi. But since almost all hotels offer free wifi, this would be a very good way to call or text back home. No need to worry for your bill to come out. Another good thing about this crazy app is that it’s absolutely free! Not bad right?

4. Skype

This is the second option for communicating, since not all are iPhone and iPad users (yet). Anyone can have access to Skype, and being free as well, this is another useful tool. What’s good about this is that it has a video call and you could show off the place you’re in right now. Hehe!

3. Icurrencypad

Remember those times when you go shopping? You look at the price tag and then compute their local currency to US dollars and then you compute the US dollars to your local currency. Kinda frustrating right? With Icurrencypad, you just need to type in their local currency and it easily converts with easy interface with the other currencies. It’s very dependable knowing that all currency is up-to-date with this app!

The world’s leading guide book is now an amazing app! When you travel to another country, you MUST get the Lonely Planet travel guide for that country. This app saves you a lot of time and effort to know where to go. It can easily direct you to the most touristic spots, as well as show and explain to you any information about the country.

Inspired by the song of Chris Brown "Beautiful People" We decided to make a photo blog of meeting the beautiful locals of different countries. Something that is much as exciting as seeing the sites.

I was able to learn with and from people from all around the world. I felt how it was to travel abroad and experience the world talking to different people, learning their language, eating their food, drinking brews of beer and just being a part of their culture. Turkey's Greatest Sceneries! Turkey part 2

There is a reason why I separated Turkey into two parts. I wanted to emphasize on the most beautiful and historical region of Turkey. The places that are going to be featured in this entry are one of the most unique nature wonders in the world and one of the greatest outdoor museums. A heaven for photographers!

PAMUKKALE has always been a very popular settlement where the hot springs were believed to have believing powers, so the city became the center of a antiquity and a spa resort today.

The terraces were formed by running warm spring water, which leaves limestone deposit and thus creating this overhanging surfaces and fascinating stalactite formations. It is also called cotton castle.

CAPPADOCIA is the ancient and modern name of a remarkable region. It is a wonderland and can be viewed from three different aspects natural, historical and religious

The Natural aspect – the strange formation of Cappadocia has had this appearance for millions of years. When volcanoes were active, the lava that poured out covered all previously formed hills and valleys forming a high plateau. But to appreciate Cappadocia more and see one of the most beautiful natural creations, you must take a balloon ride or tour. This will cost around $200. But to tell you honestly, I think it’s under priced. J

Historical Aspect. – Later on, Turks occupied Cappadocia and became a home to them.

A city where people used to live

Religious aspect- Christianity came early to Cappadocia. Then when the Arabs began to raid Cappadocia, Christians had to hide themselves where it was geographically easy, and they dug their underground shelters. In time, these shelters developed into a large under ground city, which is now the a UNESCO site heritage. It covers an area approximately 4 km. Visitors can see about 10% of the city by going down a maximum of 5 floors.

Ephesus- It can be said that Ephesus is one of the most beautiful ancient cities in the world. The city has been excavated for more than one hundred years. This is where Apostle John and Mother Mary spent there remaining years..

St John Basilica. At Jesus Cruxifiction Jesus asked his beloved disciple, John to look after his mother. John and Mother mary went to Ephesus and lived there. A small church was dedicated to him, here are the remains:

And lastly, for all the shoppers, in Turkey there are two things you can buy that Turkey is most famous of:

Leather Jackets. Leather processing is a traditional handicraft in Turkey and was developed greatly. The most famous leather and the most expensive is baby lamb and lamb skin. The Baby lamb leather is really soft and very comfortable to wear. We went to one of the famous leather shops, which they put a fashion show for us. To choose a wide variety of leather jackets.

Carpets. A Carpet is more a work of art in Turkey. 70% of the tourists coming to Turkey return homes with carpets because Turkey is a treasure house of Carpets. Turkish carpets carry a wide range of symbols. For many centuries, Turkish women have been expressing all their emotions through the artistic medium of the carpet. And all of the carpets are HAND MADE. But today, it is now a dying art, since all carpets today are now made by machines and only a few knows how to make hand made carpets.

Turkey: A Country for all tastes - Part 1

I personally consider Turkey as one of the most glorious countries in the world.

If there is one country that I would love to go back to over and over again, it would be Turkey. Every country displays some diversity, but Turkey has it all-- from its historical value, nature, shopping, and even the food. This country is blessed with everything!

The ideal trip for this country is at least 10 days and I would not recommend going by yourself. The best way is joining a group tour so that you could go around Turkey. Since, going on a group would be a lot cheaper to go around Turkey than by yourself. Don’t worry. I’ll be going there again next year and I’ll be happy to tour you around. J

Here a simple ideal route for you to enjoy Turkey:

I don’t think I could tell you everything in just one entry. I have a lot reasons why Turkey should be in your bucket list for your next travel.

Istanbul

Istanbul embraces two continents all at once with one arm on Asia and the other on Europe. It is Istanbul’s endless variety that fascinates its visitors. The Museum, Grand Mosques, palaces, bazaars, and sights of natural beauty seem innumerable.

A nice scene to start with is the Blue Mosque, also known as the Imperial Sultanahmet. The most famous landmark in Istanbul, it’s famous for its magnificent interior paneling of blue and white Iznik tiles and considered the most beautiful mosque.

Cambodia: The Kingdom of Wonders

One country that changed the way that I look at the world forever was Cambodia.
Its like warping to ancient civilization, a city that offers insight into the life of time and how religion grew in their influence.

I learned about the countries hardships that have been following the Vietnam war and Khmer rouge rein over there own people. It was a great experience to learn the history, good and bad and learn facts that we would never learn in any world history book.

Here are the Places to visit in Siem Reap.

First things first you need a ID Pass. Cost - $20.00.

We start of by taking the magnificent south gate of Angkor Thom where you can see statues beautiful carved aligned and faced wall towers.

After entering Ankor Thom you can ride an elephant for $15.00. It will take you around the the vicinity.

Feeding the elephants is more rewarding rather to ride on their backs.

is an impressive, long terrace wall adorned with carved elephants and garudas that spans the heart of Angkor Thom in front of Baphuon, Phimeanakas and the Royal Palace area.

Bayon Temple - one of the most popular sites in Angkor complex. Over 200 large faces caved on the 54 towers, which at that time represents the 54 provinces in The Khmer Empire, give this temple its majestic character.

Tips before entering the Angkor Wat temple:

Bring umbrella or a Hat as the sun can be very extreme.

Water and hand towel - A must!
Wear light clothing. Shorts and Dry fit t-shirts and bring extra pair (although entering the temples wearing shorts or sandals are prohibited, they are not very strict) I do not recommend you to wear Jeans, it will be very uncomfortable once you start sweating. Cambodia is very very Humid.

Bhutan: Happiness is a Place

Bhutan a very extraordinary place to go to. This country is considered one of the most expensive places to visit, and yet you would notice that the modernity is not the same as the rest. If you visit Bhutan, you will become one of the few who will get a glimpse of the most enchanted and mysterious countries which they also call "The Last Shangrila".

History behind the phrase 'Happiness is a place'
Bhutan's King used the phrase to signal his commitment to building an economy that would serve Bhutan's unique culture based on Buddhist spiritual values. - Wikipedia

What you need to know about the Bhutanese:
1. Bhutanese eat chili raw or cooked, minced or roasted.

Chili with cheese.

2. National custom.
The men wear Gho, a longish robe tied around the waist by a cloth belt. Bhutanese also calls this the biggest pocket in the world because they can put almost anything inside their robe and it wouldn't fall.

You can buy their national costume starting at $30, and pay as much as $2,000 depending on the quality.

The Women wear an ankle-length dress known as Kira.

3. Bhutanese Architecture - all buildings and houses all having the architectural style to preserve Bhutan's culture and heritage.

4. Love for Nature
Its illegal to smoke in public. If you arrive in Bhutan, the first thing immigration will ask you is if you have cigarettes. Bringing Cigarette packs in the country is taxable depending on the brand.

Its also illegal to fish.

Places to Visit:

1. City of Paro

Not only is this place spectacular, but it takes your breath away, literally. The hike to the Tigers Nest will take about 4 hours, and going down takes 1 hour or more. Though you can see the Tigers nest from below, you wouldn't appreciate the viewThe visit wouldn't be complete without beating your feet to the top.

Tragically wrecked in a fire of early 1998. The monastery, which has now been rebuilt, is perched some 2,000ft/600m up on a sheer cliff overlooking the valley and was said to be where the legendary Indian saint, Guru Padmasambhava, flew from Tibet on the back of a tiger to defeat five demons, who were opposing the spread of Buddhism in Bhutan.

Its always good to start early. We started hiking at 8:30am.

Hiking shoes. Keeping your balance is the hardest part of the hike.

Bring water, raincoat and a cap and put it in a backpack. (Never use a shoulder bag)

Walking stick. An essential tool for you not to loose your footing. It'll keep you from tumbling.

The Best Travel Souvenir (But the cheapest)

I’m sure when you travel, you would love to take a piece of that place with you. And what better way to do this but to get souvenirs. The souvenirs you get don’t need to be useful as it will be only a reminder of the incredible places and experience you had.

But one common mistake of first time travellers is that they didn’t think through what to get. Others just grab the first thing they see, which then will end up in the garbage in a period of time. Like this:

Here are some tips:

1. Try to find souvenirs that are in line with your hobbies or what you like.

Example: if you like poker. Get Card decks.. If you like tequila, get some shot glasses

2. Uniform, as much as possible. Remember you would be looking at this daily and getting random items is just an eye soar.

Here are some personal collections of mine:

1. Magnets. The most common souvenir. Costs $6 to $10

Its nice too look at when the side of the ref is full

2. Sands. Who doesn’t love the beach? Everybody loves the beach! The sand and the smell will always remind you of relaxation. I just started last year, that’s why its not that much. Cost: Nothing

3. Beer glasses. My favorite collection! One thing I like about this fancy collection is that it's absolutely FREE!! Doesn’t cost a thing! It looks expensive but costs nothing...

How did I get it for free? Just go to a restaurant and order a beer. Then ask if you could buy the glass for a souvenir, then they’ll just tell you to keep it. Works every time!

Slovenia: A Hidden Romantic country

Size isn’t everything. Slovenia has proved worthy of that phrase. Slovenia is a tiny country in Europe still waiting for its best travel description yet. This small country offers more variety than countries twice its size--from the snowcapped mountains, gothic churches, decorative palaces, medieval castles, artistic buildings and most of all, its natural romantic ambiance.

First of all, in case you don’t know where Slovenia is, here is the map:

Cities to Visit:

Postojana

A superb starting point to visit is the Postojna cave. It is the largest cave in the world and the most popular attraction in Slovenia.

“The Postojna Cave (Postojnska Jama) system, a series of caverns, halls and passages some 20.5km long and two million years old, was hollowed out by the Pivka River, which enters a subterranean tunnel near the cave’s entrance. The river continues its deep passage underground, carving out several series of caves, and emerges again as the Unica River.” – Lonely planet

Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia. This city has a cool medieval architecture effect which you will immediately notice when you take a good old-fashioned stroll around.

My favorite! This place is like entering a magical Fairytale land. Just imagine an island church in the middle of an emerald green lake, from that church you would see a fantastic view of an medieval castle just on top of a cliff, surrounded by snow capped mountains. Seriously, Its like Cinderalla was born here.. :)

African Wildlife: Zambia

The world is full of spectacular creations, and what better way to discover most of it but in Africa. You may think watching the herds move is not that exciting and not unforgettable. But once you get to see it personally and actually watch their lifestyle and their will to survive is a whole different level.

Experiencing the Locals

Don’t get too excited, you will have a large amount of time to go on a safari and get to see the animals. But first things first, I suggest you meet and talk to the locals. Most of the locals here in Zambia are very friendly and can speak in English (its their first language).

We were welcomed in Zambia at the airport by Ambassador of Zambia, with the media and a cultural show

The locals here are very creative just like in our Philippine provinces. They could carve and make different accessories out of nothing.

Cool hand made carvings! Even their houses are a sight to see....

But what amazed me the most is there talent of singing. Just go to any local Catholic church and you will see how they mixed their cultural background and the Catholic religion. There ceremonies are based more on gospel songs and their instruments are the native African instruments.

Must do:

1. Visit Mfuwe.

Here you will find the biggest Safari reserve in whole of Africa. Whoa! That means more animals to see.

In order to get there we took a chartered plane from Lusaka. Then we had our accommodation in Mfuwe lodge. This is the best lodge! It is located at the center of the reserve. So don’t be shocked if a monkey is knocking at your door or the elephants are walking beside you. From there you can take the Safari from you hotel.

Finally, our Safari! We had a whole day! The animals that come out in the day are different from the

ones at night.

After a whole morning, we had a one of kind barbecue lunch. Its called behind the bushes lunch.. The guide will pick the best spot for a good tasty lunch while enjoying nature.

After that we head home for some rest. We take off again, for the night Safari tour, we start by catching the sunset while having some beer and wine.

2. Visit Livingstone.

Here you would find the Great Victoria Falls. Africa’s answer to Niagara Falls of Canada and Iguassu Falls of South America. The best way to enjoy to this is having your accommodations in Royal Livingstone Hotel. This is the best hotel in Zambia, which is just beside Victoria falls and the Zambezi river.

Cuba

If you lived in Cuba in the 1950’s and had a time travelling device to fast forward to today, you will never tell the difference because of its vintage beauty.

We started the trip by visiting the Old Havana, probably the most picturesque city in Latin America. You will fall in love with the city; its brick road peppered with vintage cars that lead up to huge wooden doors of stores that sell old books alongside Che Guevarra merchandises, gives you a feel of the 1950s that's still present in the city.

After Visiting Morro Castle we hed down to Plaza de Armas, also located in Old Havana.

The Most Exciting place to see in Old Havana. During the day the square is frequented by second hand booksellers, and at night entertainers, street performers, and restaurant bars to celebrate the night away.

Havana Club. Here you can buy T-shirts, Rum, Postcards and everything about Havana.

The Rum Museum also located inside the Havana Club.

After Visiting some of the Sites of Old Havana, we ate our lunch at one of the most famous restaurant bars in Havana, 'El Floridita bar'. The Bar is famous for having been one of the favourite hangouts of Ernest Hemingway in Havana.

After lunch, we went to the other side of Havana, 'Modern Havana'. We visited the Revolution Square or Plaza de Revolucion, where many political rallies take place.

We continued to one of the main highlights of our tour, we witnessed the historical “Canonazo Ceremony” where in 18^thcentury firing the cannon signals the closing down of the harbor doors.

The cannon firing became a tourist display, a re-enaction of the ritual of the Spanish times. They fire not an actual canon ball, but to recreate the sound like firing a real canon ball, this happens every 9pm. I like how the Cubans entertain their audience, they create anticipation and excitement to the crowd.

On the 2nd day of our trip. We went to Vinalles another city in Cuba.

We visited the famous Tobacco Factory - Partagas where Cuba makes the most finest Cigars and make their tobaccos.

After the tabacco factory, we visited the Mural of Pre-history paintings reproduced on the ancient rocks of the island with a size of 39 feet high x 59 feet wide in the cliffs of Vinales.

Then we continued our tour to Cueva del Indio and experienced a boat ride on the underground river.

A short 15 minute boat ride, but the experience is a lifetime full of lasting memories.

After spending almost the whole day in Vinales, we head back to our hotel in Havana to prepare for the Tropicana Show.

The best part of my stay in Cuba is watching and experiencing The Tropicana show! This is a must see when in Cuba for its famous cabaret and show of sensual latin music and dance.

They also have a dress code. You must be wearing formal attire, anything other than that they won't allow you to get inside. The show is also pricey, entrance with cocktail and dinner will cost about $85.00 not including taking pictures. There is also a fee for taking pictures, bringing a camera inside will cost you $5.00 and if you have a video cam $15.00.

The show was fantastic, an unforgettable experience.

After seeing the sights and sounds of what Havana has to offer, we head to Varadero.

Its like there Boracay of the Philippines. We stayed at the luxury Iberostar Laguna Azul Resort, one of the most elegant and largest resort areas in the Caribbean.

They have a saying when you stay in this resort 'Everything is FREE, except the ladies'

Yes its true, everything is free. Experience Unlimited food and drinks. They also have tons of things to do besides going to the beach. The staff do well during the day to entertain the people, they perform magic acts and ask random people to participate. They also have small bands on from time to time. and of course who can forget the discos.

Night life

After a night of fun of entertainment, we decided to spend our last day in the old city of Havana for last minute shopping and a tour that we missed out.

We went inside the Faro Castillo del Morro or the Lighthouse of Cuba its located inside the Fortress. Inside the fortress You can also find pictures of Che Guevarra, archives of books and Old weapons.

1. The Famous Cuban Cigars - Cuban cigars are very expensive you can buy it in the store. If your entering US territory, immigration might confiscate it. So keep it in your check-in luggage.

Iceland, Purely Nature

I just don’t get it why Iceland is not a top tourist destination country. Iceland has one of the most mixed natural elements I have ever seen -- the Ocean, the beautiful Fjord lakes, the geysers, the wide expanses, lava fields, glaciers and the geothermal feilds. All these phenomena fit in one big island. If we are talking about a truly “unique travel:” GO to Iceland. Every district of this country has its own distinctiveness. No one will ever be disappointed to travel to Iceland.

Experiencing Iceland
First off, here is the route you could take to make the most out of your trip to Iceland.

Its like driving on the moon, this is a remark given by many due to the very flat road and the alien lava formations from one place to the another. During the road trip, you will see amazing natural wonders such as:

Breathtaking Geothermal fields - One of the most frequent site you will see in Iceland. These are are openings in the earth's crust which sulfurous vapors rise up. I said breath taking, because the first thing you would smell is the strong scent of Sulfur.

MUST DO ATTRACTIONS:

1. Whale watching in North Iceland. Definitely a must! This is one of the most famous tourist attractions—absolutely my favorite! Husavik, Iceland is Europe’s capital for whale watching. That is why you’ll have a 90% chance of seeing humpback whales and their enormous fins and tails. Experiencing these gentle giants will surely put a smile on your face. ☺

2. Swim at the Blue lagoon! Strange, considering Iceland has a chilly climate. This huge, milky-blue spa is fed by mineral-rich heated seawater from the nearby geothermal plant. So even on a cold day, a trip to the pool is a must! Located 40 minutes from Reykjavik, you can enjoy the relaxing geothermal sea water. It is known to have positive effects on the skin; and with its soothing and healing qualities, a 100% stress reliever.

3. Glacier tours. The beautiful Icelandic glaciers are among the greatest natural wonders of the world, which no one should miss.

4. Visit the Golden Circle. It is without a doubt one of the most popular destinations in Iceland. Icelandic names

Do you remember the time when you watched Gladiator or Troy? When they introduced their names, they say:

“My name is Achilles – son of ____________”

“My name is Hector – son of ____________”

During those times, they didn’t have any last names. They introduced themselves as the son of their father’s name.

It’s so interesting that most Icelanders still follow this ancient tradition. They don’t have last names, but they state the name of their fathers.

For example: In Iceland, if a man’s name is Leifur Erikson, his name is Leifur- the son of Erik. So if Leifur has a son or daughter, the last name will be Leifurson (Leifur’s son) or Leifurdottir (Leifur’s daughter).
