scheme="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#" term="Breaks"/>

Trend Line Breaks

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Trend line breaks are defined as the price moving towards a trend line, touching the trend line, and then breaking through the trend line, and continuing in its new direction. Trend line breaks happen because trend lines show where the price is likely to experience support or resistance in the future, and at some point this support and resistance is going to weaken.

Trend line breaks are counter trend trades, because they expect the price to continue in its new direction (against the previous trend). For an upward trend line (and an upward trend), a trend line break would be a short trade, where the trader sells at a price near the trend line, and then buys at a price below the trend line. For a downward trend line (and therefore a downward trend), a trend line break would be a long trade, where the trader buys at a price near the trend line, and then sells at a price above the trend line.

Trend line breaks are not usually traded independently, but are combined with other trading information, such as price movement or volume information. For example, a complete trend line trading system might consist of a trend line break in combination with strong volume in the correct direction.

The example chart shows a downward trend, and its associated downward trend line, with a trend line break shown in yellow (view the chart in full size).

View the original article here

Using RNAi screening to identify factors involved in intrinsic innate immunity

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Sorry, I could not read the content fromt this page.Sorry, I could not read the content fromt this page.

View the original article here

Directional Movement Index

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

The Directional Movement Index (also known as DMI) is a momentum indicator that was developed by J. Welles Wilder. It is calculated using the price, compares the current price with the previous price range, and displays the result as an upward movement line (+DI), and a downward movement line (-DI), between 0 and 100. The DMI also calculates the strength of the upward or downward movement, and displays the result as a trend strength line (ADX). The DMI is displayed on its own chart, separate from the price bars, and is the lower section in the chart shown above.
Description: The DMI is the ratio of exponential moving averages of the greater of the upward (U) and downward (D) price movements, and the true range (TR). Calculation:
U = Hn - Hn-1
D = Ln-1 - Ln
TR = (Hn - Ln) | (Hn - Cn-1) | (Cn-1 - Ln)
EMAUP = EMAUn-1 + ((2 / (n + 1)) * (Un - EMAUn-1))
EMADOWN = EMADn-1 + ((2 / (n + 1)) * (Dn - EMADn-1))
EMATR = EMATRn-1 + ((2 / (n + 1)) * (TRn - EMATRn-1))
+DI = EMAUP / EMATR
-DI = EMADOWN / EMATR
    DX = ABS(+DI - -DI) / (+DI + -DI)
ADX = EMADXn-1 + ((2 / (n + 1)) * (DXn - EMADXn-1))

The Directional Movement Index can be used in both ranging and trending markets. In general, when the +DI line is above the -DI line, the market is moving upwards, and when the -DI line is above the +DI line, the market is moving downwards. The ADX line shows the strength of the move, and the market is considered to be trending when the ADX line is above 30, and ranging when the ADX line is below 30. There are several trading systems that use the DMI, so there are several alternative uses of both the DI lines, and the ADX line.

<a href="http://daytrading.about.com/od/indicators/a/DMI.htm"
A large part of being a successful day trader is having the right personality traits, or if not, at least being able to control the opposing personality traits. Human traders will always be influenced by their personalities and their resulting emotions, but professional traders have learned to overcome the emotions that are counter productive to their trading.

One such personality trait is stubbornness. Stubbornness (or obsintance) causes people to become attached to their decisions regardless of the consequences. Day traders need to be decisive in order to make their trading decisions promptly, and then act upon those decisions without any hesitation, but they also need to be flexible and able to react when a decision was incorrect. In order to be successful, day traders need to find the right combination of decisiveness and flexibility for their personality.

Stubborn people usually refuse to admit that they are stubborn, so recognizing that stubbornness is causing problems with their trading can be difficult. Stubbornness usually causes several different trading mistakes, with the following mistakes being the most common. If you are making any of these mistakes in your trading, it is probable that you have some degree of stubbornness in your personality , and that it is affecting your day trading:
Refusing to use targets and stop losses, and certainly refusing to actually place target and stop loss orders Choosing not to follow a trading system, because you know what the market is going to do Holding losing trades until the pain is just too much to bear (or even until your brokerage exits the trade for you, because you no longer cover the required margin)
For any other reason, these mistakes are actually easy to overcome, but not when they are being caused by stubbornness. In order to overcome these mistakes, stubborn traders first need to recognize that the mistakes are being caused by a natural human emotion, and that there is nothing wrong with admitting this. As being stubborn is a form of control, it may help to think that by recognizing the cause, you can have more control over yourself, and hence over your trading.

Once the cause has been recognized, trading in simulation will provide time to correct the trading mistakes without risking any real money. Trade in simulation until you are consistently profitable (by consistently, I mean several weeks, not just one day), and then move to live trading, but be aware of the additional emotion that will appear when you start trading live.

View the original article here

Time and Sales or Tape

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Definition:
Time and sales (also known as the tape) is information that is used by professional day traders to watch the current price movements at its most detailed level. Time and sales shows each individual trade as it occurs, and is usually displayed as a scrolling list. Time and sales can be used as part of a larger trading system (such as a confirmation for an indicator trade), or on its own (as with scalping). Time and sales provides several pieces of valuable information about each trade, and the market as a whole.

The time and sales shows the exact price that each trade occurs at, and also whether the trade occured at the bid (market selling price) or ask (market buying price). This information shows whether there are currently more buyers or sellers, and also what prices they are buying and selling at.

The time and sales also shows the amount of volume that each trade includes (the number of contracts or shares that were traded). This shows whether there are more contracts (or shares) being bought or sold, and at which prices the largest amounts of volume are trading.

By watching the time and sales, a trader can determine exactly where the current support and resistance levels are on an extremely detailed level. Support is shown by the time and sales having difficulty trading below a particular price, and resistance is shown by the time and sales having difficulty trading above a particular price.

Understanding the time and sales is a relatively simple concept, but it takes a lot of experience to be able to trade using the time and sales. Depending upon the market and the time of day, the time and sales can move very quickly, and keeping track of everything can become quite difficult. The more time that is spent watching the time and sales, the more useful the time and sales will become.

View the original article here

Trading Stock Indexes

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

All traders, and almost all non traders, are aware of the main US, European, and Asian stock indexes, because these are the indexes that are reported in the news. However, many traders, and certainly most non traders, do not know how the stock indexes are traded, and often assume that they are traded like individual stocks.

The stock indexes cannot actually be traded directly, and are available for information only (i.e. as a way to track the performance of the markets or a specific sector). Market data is available for the stock indexes, and they can be charted like any other market, but there is no way to make either a long or short trade on the actual stock indexes.

Whenever we hear a trader mention that they are long on the Nasdaq, or short on the FTSE 100, they are not actually long or short on the Nasdaq or FTSE 100 indexes. They are actually long or short on a futures or options market such as the NQ futures market or the Z options market.

Futures and options that are based upon a stock index are known as derivatives markets, because they are derived from the underlying stock index. There are futures and options markets available for all of the popular stock indexes. Stock index futures and options markets are some of the most popular markets for short term and long term traders alike.

Futures and options markets usually move in synchronization with their underlying stock indexes (e.g. when the CAC 40 stock index moves down, the CAC40 futures market usually moves down). It is therefore possible to chart the stock indexes while trading the futures or options markets.

There are some advantages to charting the stock indexes instead of the futures or options markets. For example, the stock indexes are continuous markets (i.e. they do not expire like futures and options contracts do), so traders do not need to update their charting software to a new contract every three months (or monthly depending upon the market in question). Also, the options markets are difficult to chart because they consist of many equally active contracts (with different prices), so charting the stock indexes instead allows a trader to trade multiple options contracts using a single chart.

If you do decide to chart the stock indexes instead of the futures or options markets, note that you still need to update your trading software (your order entry software) to use the appropriate futures or options contract, otherwise, you may find yourself trying to trade an expired contract and wondering why it isn't working.

View the original article here

Ranging and Trending

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Definition:
Day trading markets are referred to as either ranging or trending depending upon the type of price movement that is currently occurring. The descriptions of these types of markets are as follows :

A ranging market is a market where the price is moving back and forth between a higher price and a lower price. The higher price would be acting as resistance because it prevents the price from moving above it, and the lower price would be acting as support because it prevents the price from moving below it. The price range of a ranging market can be small or large, and if the range is very small the market would be considered to be in chop (moving sideways with very little upward or downward movement).

A trending market is a market where the price is moving in a single direction, either up or down, but not sideways. There may be several small price reversals, but nothing large enough to prevent the price movement from continuing in its original direction. A day trading trend may last for a few minutes or a few hours, and longer term trends may last for several weeks or months.

View the original article here

Order Book

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

One of the tools that day traders use to make their trades is the market data for their markets. The market data includes information about the prices, and the completed trades for the market, and is available in two different levels depending upon the information that is required :

Basic market data is known as level 1 market data, and includes the following information:
Bid price: The highest price that a trader is willing to pay to buy a contract Bid size: The number of contracts that are available at the bid price Ask price: The lowest price that a trader is willing to accept to sell a contract Ask size: The number of contracts that are available at the ask price Last price: The price at which the most recent trade was completed Last size: The number of contracts that were traded in the most recent trade
Level 1 market data provides all of the information that is needed to trade using most trading systems, including the moving average bounce, zero line cross, and pivot point bounce trading systems.

Additional market data is known as level 2 market data, the order book, or the depth of market, and includes the following additional information:
Highest bid prices: The highest 5 or 10 prices (depending upon the market) that traders are willing to pay to buy a contract Bid sizes: The number of contracts that are available at each of the highest bid prices Lowest ask prices: The lowest 5 or 10 prices (depending upon the market) that traders are willing to accept to sell a contract Ask sizes: The number of contracts that are available at each of the lowest ask prices
Level 2 market data provides the additional information that is needed to trade using trading systems that follow the order flow, and advanced volume based trading systems. Level 2 market data is also known as the order book, because it shows the orders that are currently pending for the market, and is also known as the depth of market, because it shows the number of contracts that are available at each of the available prices.

All market data originally comes from the exchange that offers the market, and day traders receive the market data via their day trading brokerages. Both level 1 market data and level 2 market data are available for most day trading markets, including most futures markets and stock markets. The fees for level 2 market data are usually slightly higher than level 1 market data.

Also known as: Order Book, Level 2, Level II, Depth of Market, DOM

View the original article here

Strike Price and Expiration

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Definition:
Options trading uses several related phrases that are unique to options markets. Some commonly used, but often misunderstood options phrases are :

The strike price (or exercise price) of an options contract is the price that the underlying security will be bought or sold at if the option is exercised (i.e. if the rights given by the contract are used). It is the difference between the strike price and the price of the underlying security at the time of exercise that gives the options trader their profit.

An option is exercised if the rights given to the buyer of the options contract are used. For example, if the buyer of a Call contract decides to use their right to buy the underlying security on (European style options) or at any time up to (US style options) the expiration date, they will have exercised their option. Options contracts are exercised via the exchange or options clearing system, at which time a matching options seller is chosen (by the exchange) and becomes obligated to complete the transaction.

Options contracts specify the expiration date as part of the contract specifications. For European style options, the expiration date is the date that an in the money (in profit) options contract will be exercised. For US style options, the expiration date is the last date that an in the money options contract can be exercised. Any options contracts that are out of the money (not in profit) on the expiration date will not be exercised, and will expire worthless instead. Options traders who have bought options contracts want their options to be in the money on the expiration date, and traders who have sold options contracts want their options to be out of the money and expire worthless on the expiration date.

View the original article here

The Best Summer Salads

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
The Best Summer Salads - Health.com S
H
A
R
E SweepstakesHealth NewsettersSubscribeHealthy & HappyNews & ViewsFamilyHome and TravelMind and BodyMoneySex and RelationshipsDiet & FitnessFitness • Cardio • Strength • YogaWeight Loss • Diets • Dieting TipsFood & RecipesEating • Cooking • Nutrition • Restaurants and Fast FoodsRecipesBeauty & StyleBeauty • Skincare • Hair • Makeup • StyleCelebrity • Celebrity Tips • Celebrity HealthHealth A-ZAlzheimer's DiseaseAsthmaBipolar DisorderBirth ControlBreast CancerChildhood VaccinesCholesterolChronic PainCold, Flu, and SinusCOPDCrohn's DiseaseDepressionDiabetes (Type 2)FibromyalgiaGERDHeadaches & MigrainesIncontinenceMenopauseOsteoarthritisOsteoporosisRheumatoid ArthritisSexual HealthSleep DisordersUlcerative ColitisMore ConditionsMagazineCurrent IssueSubscribeTablet EditionArchiveGive a Gift SubscriptionCustomer ServiceMedia KitHealthy Skin MakeoverHome >> Food & Recipes >> Eating >> Cooking >> The Best Summer SaladsThe Best Summer SaladsThese salads from Andrew Swallow, co-founder of eco-gourmet restaurant Mixt Greens, makes getting your greens a whole lot more fun. For example, a 10 bar simple moving average of the close would show the mean closing price from the most recent 10 bars. Moving averages can also be applied to other data such as volume or other indicators, but are most commonly used with prices. There are several different types of moving averages, and they are all calculated slightly differently, but they all have a similar smoothing effect on the data, so that any unexpected price changes are removed, and the overall direction is shown more clearly.

Some of the most popular moving averages are:

Simple Moving Average
Description: The simple moving average is simply the average of the last n prices.
Calculation: (P1 + P2 + P3 + P4 + ... + Pn) / n
Example: A 4 bar simple moving average with prices of 1.2640, 1.2641, 1.2642, and 1.2641 would give a moving average of 1.2641 using the calculation (1.2640 + 1.2641 + 1.2642 + 1.2641) / 4 = 1.2641
Exponential Moving Average
Description: The exponential moving average is a weighted average of the last n prices, where the weighting decreases exponentially with each previous price.
Calculation: EMAn-1 + ((2 / (n + 1)) * (Pn - EMAn-1))
Example: A 4 bar exponential moving average with prices of 1.5554, 1.5555, 1.5558, and 1.5560 would give a moving average of 1.5558 using the calculation 1.5556 + ((2 / (4 + 1)) * (1.5560 - 1.5556)) = 1.5558
Weighted Moving Average
Description: The weighted moving average is a weighted average of the last n prices, where the weighting decreases by 1 with each previous price.
Calculation: ((n * Pn) + ((n - 1) * Pn-1) + ((n - 2) * Pn-2) + ... ((n - (n - 1)) * Pn-(n-1)) / (n + (n - 1) + ... + (n - (n - 1)))
Example: A 4 bar weighted moving average with prices of 1.2900, 1.2900, 1.2903, and 1.2904 would give a moving average of 1.2903 using the calculation ((4 * 1.2904) + (3 * 1.2903) + (2 * 1.2900) + (1 * 1.2900)) / (4 + 3 + 2+ 1) = 1.2903
Moving averages can be used to identify a trend by using the slope of the average (or lack of slope in a ranging market). They can also be used in trend trading systems to enter and exit trades by waiting for price and moving average crossovers, or for multiple moving average crossovers. Moving averages are also used in the calculations of many other indicators, such as the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), and the Commodity Channel Index (CCI).

View the original article here

What are Currencies?

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Currency markets (also known as forex markets) are the largest day trading markets (in terms of volume and amount of money), trading approximately $2 trillion per day. Currency markets are the markets where one currency is traded for another currency, such as trading the Euro for the US Dollar. The majority of currency trading is between central banks, commercial banks, and large companies, with the largest currency trader currently being Deutsche Bank in Europe, but the currency markets are also traded by individual day traders.

Currency markets are unique in that they are not traded at exchanges, but are traded directly between traders instead. There are several large currency trading centers, with London in Europe, New York in the US, and Tokyo in Japan, being the largest.

Some of the most popular currency markets are the following :
EUR / USD - The Euro to US Dollar exchange rate GBP / USD - The British Pound to US Dollar exchange rate (also known as cable) USD / JPY - The US Dollar to Japanese Yen exchange rate CHF / USD - The Swiss Franc to US Dollar exchange rate EUR / GBP - The Euro to British Pound exchange rate AUD / USD - The Australian Dollar to US Dollar exchange rate CAD / USD - The Canadian Dollar to US Dollar exchange rate EUR / CHF - The Euro to Swiss Franc exchange rate
Most people are familiar with the difference (or spread) between the buying and selling exchange rates that they get when they exchange foreign currencies at a bank (e.g. when they go on holiday). For example, using the EUR / USD exchange rate, the difference would be several percentage points, which in real prices could be from 1.2500 to 1.2800, which in currency trading terms would be 300 pips (calculated as (1.2800 - 1.2500) / 0.0001). Day trading spreads are much lower, and would be more like a fraction of a percentage point, or 1.2500 to 1.2503, or only 3 pips (calculated as (1.2503 - 1.2500) / 0.0001). Some traders are attracted to the currency markets by the difference between the retail and trading spreads, but note that the currency futures markets have an even lower spread (usually the equivalent of 1 pip).

Day traders can access the currency markets via the same direct access brokerages that they use for other markets, but should be aware that their trades are not being processed by an exchange, but by a currency broker instead. These currency brokers are allowed to make their own markets, which means that traders using one currency broker will not necessarily see the same prices as those traders using a different currency broker. In addition, some of the more unscrupulous currency brokers actively trade against their traders, and will prevent their traders from getting the best possible price, while taking the extra profit for themselves. It is common for currency brokers to not charge commissions for currency trades, as they will take some of the spread as their commission instead.

Currency market trading symbols are constructed using the two currencies that are being traded. For example, the trading symbol for the Euro to US Dollar market would be EUR/USD. Each currency market has a minimum price change (tick size), and a minimum trading amount, with which the value per minimum price change can be calculated. Continuing with the EUR/USD currency market, the minimum price change is 0.0001, and the minimum trading amount is approximately $25,000 (this varies depending upon the currency broker), so the value per minimum price change is calculated as 0.0001 X $ 25000 = $2.50. This means that for every 0.0001 in price change, a trade's profit or loss would change by $2.50. Even though the minimum trading amount is $25,000 or more, the currency markets are traded using leverage, so an individual day trader only needs to have a fraction of that amount in their trading account.

While the currency markets can be day traded, they have some features that make them a less preferred day trading market. If you want to trade the currency markets purely for day trading purposes, then the futures markets offer enough markets based upon currencies, that you should trade the futures markets instead. If however, you want to trade currencies to actually hold the other currency (i.e. if you want to keep some money in Euros), then the currency markets are the markets to trade.

View the original article here

Protein binders: Powerful tools in developmental cell biology

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota
Sorry, I could not read the content fromt this page.Sorry, I could not read the content fromt this page.

View the original article here

How Market Prices Move

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Most traders are aware that market prices move because of buying and selling (i.e. trading), but not many traders actually understand how buying and selling moves the market prices. This is one of the most confusing aspects of trading (especially for new traders), but it is also one of the most important.

The explanation of market price movement is composed of two parts. The first part explains how buying volume and selling volume move the market price, and is quite easy to understand. The second part explains how individual trades (as in individual transactions) are classified as either buying or selling volume, and is the part that causes the most confusion for new traders.

Every trade (as in every individual transaction) is either a buying trade or a selling trade. Buying trades help move the market price upwards, and selling trades help move the market price downwards. When there are more buying trades occuring in a market, the market price will continue moving upwards. When they are more selling trades occuring in a market, the market price will continue moving downwards. When there is a switch from more buying to more selling (or vice versa), the market price movement will change direction. That's it for the easy part.

As described in part 1, every trade (as in every individual transaction) needs to be classified as either a buying trade (i.e. buying volume) or a selling trade (i.e. selling volume). However, every trade consists of both a buyer and a seller (the traders), and therefore both a buying and a selling transaction (the trades). If every trade consists of an equal amount of buying and selling, how can a trade be classified as either buying or selling? This is the reason for the confusion that many new traders encounter when learning about market price movement.

The answer is that every trade is classified as a buying trade or a selling trade based upon how the trade affects the order book, and therefore the current market price.

The order book is composed of bid prices, ask prices, and the last price (i.e. the current market price). The bid prices are the prices at which traders have placed limit orders to buy. The ask prices are the prices at which traders have placed limit orders to sell. The last price is the most recently traded price (i.e. the most recently filled order).

When a trader places a market order to buy, a trade will occur at the current ask price, because the buy order is matched with the lowest available sell order. This causes the last price to change to the ask price, as this is now the most recently traded price. As the ask price is always higher than the bid price, the last price can only stay still or move up, and therefore this is classified as a buying trade (i.e. buying volume).

Conversely, when a trader places a market order to sell, a trade will occur at the current bid price, because the sell order is matched with the highest available buy order. This causes the last price to change to the bid price, as this is now the most recently traded price. As the bid price is always lower than the ask price, the last price can only stay still or move down, and therefore this is classified as a selling trade (i.e. selling volume).

The interaction of the order book and the market prices is much more complex than this, but the above explanation is the basis of all market price movement.

View the original article here

Description of Options Markets

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Option markets are similar to futures markets, in that they give the holder the right to buy or sell the underlying commodity for a specific price on (European options) or before (US options) a specific date in the future (known as the expiration or exercise date), but options have some significant difference from futures, and are traded quite differently.

The main difference is that options contracts only give the right to buy or sell the underlying commodity, whereas futures contract have the obligation to buy or sell the underlying commodity. The buyer of the options contract can choose whether or not to exercise their right, and if they do, the seller of a matching options contract will be obligated to complete the transaction. Day traders can trade options contracts to make a profit on the difference between the buying price and the selling price (when the options are sold before expiration), or to make a profit from the underlying security when they are exercised.

As with futures contracts, options contracts are traded by day traders and longer term traders, and also by non traders with an interest in the underlying commodity. When traded for the underlying commodity, options contracts work the same way as futures contracts, but only give the right to buy or sell the underlying commodity rather than the obligation.

Both European and US style options are settled in either cash or a futures contract in the underlying security when they are exercised. In the money (in profit), cash settled options, are valued using the trading price of the underlying security at expiration, and the profit is realized into the trader's account. In the money, futures settled options, are converted into the appropriate futures contract, which the trader can then buy or sell to realize the profit.

US traders should note that the SEC (the US securities and exchange commission) has placed restrictions on cash settled options, so not all options markets are available to US traders.

The trading symbol for options markets consists of the underlying, the expiration date, whether the contract is a Call (right to buy) or a Put (right to sell) and the strike (or exercise) price. For example, the DAX Call option that expires in December 2007 with a strike price of 7000 would have the symbol ODAX-Call-200712-7000. The contract specifications for options markets include the minimum price change (known as the tick size), and the point value or multiplier, with which the value per minimum price change can be calculated. Continuing with the previous example, the tick size for the ODAX is 0.1, and the multiplier is 5 EUR, so the value per tick is calculated as 0.1 X 5 EUR = 0.50 EUR per tick. This means that for every 0.1 in price change, an option's profit or loss would change by 0.5 EUR.

<a href="http://daytrading.about.com/od/options/a/WhatAreOptions.htm" However, in business, fungibility means usually to buy or sell the financial instrument itself on a different market with the same end result.

For example, if an individual 100 shares can be purchased on the Nasdaq in the United States, and the same one hundred the same individual shares can be sold on the London Stock Exchange in the United Kingdom, with the result is zero, the actions of individual stocks would be considered fungible.

There are many fungible financial instruments, with the most popular different stocks, some raw materials (e.g. gold, silver, etc.) and currencies.

Fungible financial instruments are often used in arbitrage trades, because the price difference (the refereeing) often comes from a difference in position (fungible part). For example, if the Euro/US dollar exchange rate has been in the United States and 1.2500 1.2505 into United Kingdom, an arbitrage dealer would buy euros in the United States and then immediately sell euro in the United Kingdom, making a profit of 0.0005 per Euro (or $ 5 per $ 10,000), because the euro is fungible financial instrument.

<a href="http://daytrading.about.com/od/dtof/g/Fungible.htm"
