So, I haven't been posting on here of late, but I wanted to share that I'm taking part in the Month of Letter Challenge  again this year, and here's the first envelope I sent.  Had to wait to share it as the recipient sometimes reads this blog/Facebook page...and I like my mail to be a surprise! :) This is the front...the card had sunflowers and daisies on it as well as looking a

This is my favorite envelope I've decorated of late, and it inspired me to write a post to share some various recent decorated envelopes.  I was trying to make a "summer-y" envelope, and I had the lighting bug stamp.  I thought it turned out cute...and was a hit when recieved! I was writing my great-aunt, and realized it was Flag Day, so I went all out with flags. I had some

We recently saw some ducklings-total "Make Way for Ducklings" moment.  So it inspired me to decorate some envelopes This is the first one I made-a nest with a little hatched egg with a chick and his "dad" coming back "home".  I tried to make the duckling as accurate as possible. I went with simpler/more traditional yellow ducklings here, plus tried to draw a "mom" duck and

Just thought I'd share some various envelopes I've sent lately, no real theme. Thinking of you card with dragonfly on it.  Tried to do "water" themed stamps. This Easter card had flowers in blocks like this, so I tried to copy it to the envelope. I was using re-printed vintage, business stationary to write a note with something about canal boats, so I tried to go with vintage

I haven't posted in a while, I've been sending a good bit of mail, just short on time to record it.  So, here's some mail from when I participated in the Month of Letter's Challenge. This was a Valentine's Day card with that blueish color and paper airplanes.  The envelope was simple enough, but I think it turned out cute! This was actually the first piece of mail I sent for

I'm pretty excited about how this envelope turned out! I was sending my great aunt of photos of some recent winter weather and some birds in it.  I was going to write a note/letter on paper with a winter scene of a barn, pine trees, and cardinals.  Inspiration suddenly hit me!  I pulled out one of these blue envelopes, it took some looking to find the white pens and get them

I thought it was about time to get a new post on here!  It's been busy, and I've been sending less exciting mail, some envelopes are downright boring-haha!  But mailing is the important part, right?  But there have been some fun ones.  Here's what I've mailed for January so far. This was my favorite.  It was for my great aunt's birthday.  When I was growing up,

I thought I'd try to go through some of the photos I took of mail I sent earlier this year, and share some of the envelopes here.  I take photos of pretty much everything I mail.  In part for this blog, but mainly to be able to look back at for inspiration and encouragement. I'm not the best artist, but I think this turned out pretty cheerful & colorful for a new years card...and

Well, it's July and this will be my second post for the year...a little slow, huh?  It's been a hard year.  I've been recovering from surgery and my sister has been recovering from a bad heart infection.  Then my grandmother who lives with us was diagnosed with dementia, so Hospice came in.  A few months later she died at home.  So, not only has it been hard to find the

I haven't posted lately...nor have I really sent that much mail.  Our family has been having a number of health issues, so mail has taken a little bit of a back seat, things seem to be calming down now, so hopefully I'll be able to get back to doing it more...hopefully I'll be ready when A Month of Letters come around.  I was able to get Christmas cards sent out to a very cut down list.

Sarahhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17344258382472241723noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2522574659643408978.post-68893109180193747872016-07-16T10:12:00.001-04:002016-07-16T10:12:52.915-04:00

Well, it's been a while since I've posted...in part because I've got to share some of my smiles in person...in other words I got to visit many of those I send mail to! For the 4th of July I made my own cards this year-it's hard to find 4th cards, plus it saved money, and turned out supper cute if I do say so myself! :)  I started with plain black cards-and drew fireworks on the front. &

Got some fun mail sent out recently! A Mother's Day card to an aunt-flowers matched the card plus "love" was perfect and the Washington stamp was just to fill out the amount.  Another aunt Mother's Day card, this card had day lilies and stripes on it.  The stamps all seemed to hint at stripes plus I put stripes on the side and the day lily sticker.   This card

I haven't had much time lately to decorate envelopes, but I have had some fun with stamps matching them to themes. This was a spring one, the paper and envelope were the same and had spring bulbs and rhododendrons on it.  I put spring stamps on it-stawberries, baseball, flowers, and nesting birds.  This one was for a typewritten letter-printing press, letters, and paper boys. &

I did simpler envelopes for my Easter cards, a mix of flower rubber stamps, and various postage stamps: To get the muted colors on the rubber stamp I inked it once with bright colors, used it (like on the top one) and then inked it with a very light pink marker, it made the colors really coordinate well with the  colors on the card. I really liked the petrified wood stamps, not

I made some fun St Patrick's Day envelopes this year and thought I'd share:   This was for a letter, I printed the envelope.  I used online font from "Gothic Leaf" from FontSpace for the name and a simpler one from my computer for the address.  Combined with green and font stamps.  Green envelope-loved how the horse-car stamped coordinated with the colors! For the fourth straight year I successfully completed the Month of Letters Challenge.  Such a good motivation to write people!  Here's the envelopes for the last day of that Butterfly and flower card to a friend.  Birthday card to a great aunt with quilted flowers and birds. This was a classical mail themed one.  The paper matched the image on the envelop

Don't have as exciting of envelopes to share this week, but still had fun writing people! Love how the new little car stamp turned out. It's always fun when the stationery envelope already has decoration and you can add a stamp that matches-loving the new Botanical Art Stamps.  I got the camera stamp lately and thought it'd be fun to use like this-I'm not sure it will be handled

Just completed another successful week of The Month of Letter Challenge.  So fun to have the little "push" to write people I normally wouldn't. The stamps seemed to work well...the paper had a colorful dot border. For a birthday (hence the Amethyst stamp as it's the birthstone for February) card with an owl on it.   A cat card-so cats & birds seemed like a good

I've enjoyed another week of A Month of Letters Challenge.  One day I ran short on time and inspiration, so sent a postcard to my aunt who I've done that before, I call her my "escape valve" Haha! This was for a Valentine's card to a family member.  It had a gold border and tulips, so the new tulip stamp was PERFECT!!  I used a gold border for the return address, gold letters

Excited to start A Month of Letters Challenge this week, so far I've managed to send one thing a day!  One of the first thing I sent.  I thought the envelope turned out so fun!  Love having vintage stamps to pick from!  These were picked to go with the flower/mail/Paris themed card. This is a card I sent "from" two dogs of a family member to her.  I made up a

I was so excited when I saw the "From Me to You" stamps were coming, and bought them pretty early.  But...I kept not using them, then this week, I used two this week! This one was for a birthday card with arrows, I thought the words on the stamp went well with the arrows.  This card had a cat on it, and I found this old stencil to use...I just picked the stamp for the color...

Just one interesting envelope to share this week.  Should have more to share soon with the Month of Letters Challenge coming up next month. I loved how I was able to find the stamps to coordinate and the penguin turned out cuter then I expected when I colored it in! The name “Smiles Sent Saturday” denotes my hope these things I mailed made the people who got them smile.

I only have one envelope to share today...the envelope we sent a birthday card to a great aunt in.  Kind of simple, but the vintage stamps really make it pop! I'm also working on writing a multi day/page letter.  and trying to get organized for the A Month of Letters Challenge and Easter cards. The name “Smiles Sent Saturday” denotes my hope these things I mailed made the people who

I really liked this Charlie Brown stamp.  The only way I could figure out how to work it in to an overall design, was to decorate the envelope upside down!  That way the address & stamp were in the right places.  This is how it looked when being mailed: This is how it looked with the illustration right side up: And here's my New Year's envelopes: For a card with fireworks

Here's some Christmas themed mail I've sent lately:  This paper had a horn on it, so I decided to go with musical stamps.  I thought this turned out cute for how simple it was.  This was for a card that had purple on it with a scene of the shepherds.   I added a label in part to be sure the machines could read the address.  For years our family has
