Taking a cue from the shows at Milan Fashion Week back in September, one trend that sprouted up on a few catwalks in the Italian fashion capital was the black and gold color combo.

While black and gold might be more typically thought as a winter/holiday color-duo option, I'm glad to see that the Italian fashion houses recognized that the two shades are also great for amazing evening wear (with emphasis more on metallic gold as opposed to a yellowish hue with bold undertones) for the spring season.

With new trends such as the black and gold combo that are about to hit the shops and eventually fill the streets of metropolises all over the globe, I'm also hoping to see another quirky trend get picked up en masse–this time taking note from an observation of NYC's local fashionistas.

I'm slowly starting to spot more and more men's watches being sported on some eclectically dressed gals–mainly the ladies who spend most of their time below 34th street.

Adding to the current popular trend of wrist flair, with lower arms covered in chains, blinged-out friendship bracelets, bangles, slap-ons and other shin digs that you can wrap around your wrists, men's watches can really take your arm candy to another level.

Men's watches usually feature a bigger dial, creating a cool juxtaposition amongst the rest of you accessories. And if you're worried about them being heavier than a ladies watch, then just be sure to go for a lightweight option (trust me, they exist).

For the upcoming spring season, you can be sure that I'll be combining two of my favorite spring trends with this bad boy:

Over the last few years, the fashion industry has seen more and more designers and labels release short films highlighting their latest collections in what some people might just call a long commercial, or a live action advertisement campaign. But even more and more fashion photographers and other similar creatives in the fashion biz have started to expand their artistic verizons through film.

Thanks in part to the Internet which is hands-down the most commonly used medium for most folks to set their peepers on fashion shorts, there seems to be even more of a demand and requirement for the industry's top talents to breathe emotion and personality into their clothes.

But even those who don't make clothes are also venturing into the world of short films. Actually, they're the same folks that helped develop this foray into it's current state of popularity today (Nick Knight, Rankin, etc.). I'm talking about the photographers and visionaries that saw past that the story of one season's work could only be told through photographs.

Yes, there have been fashion commercials in the past (perfumes from luxury brands are a great example). But fashion films aren't created so much for the most part to be turned into commercials you see on TV (and honestly, have you even seen much of them on TV anyway?), but as another visual representative of the brand to possibly create a connection with the general public.

It's just a modern form of pop art, just like billboards, magazine advertisements and in-store branding materials (think signage you see at a department store).

Alexandra and sis Théodora Richards are the stars of a new lookbook from French label ELEVENPARIS. The lookbook also features one Ash Stymest who I ran into at The Den last year in London.

The video above is just a teaser for what I assume are going to be a series of short fashion films to go along with this season's collection. It looks like the vibe of this line is rock and roll, grunge and alternavamp-y (yeah, I just totally came up with that–nice right?)

As far as the clothes go, they seem pretty along the lines of what a French label trying to be rock and roll would do–lots of dark colors, trying to imitate the East London look, tight trousers, large tops, but everything has an overall refinement and tailored look to it that it just feels so French. Plus there aren't any daring cuts or quirky prints or bold colors, just very classically cut clothes.

But lets get back to their lookbook, cause I'm left starring at it in confusion and kind of liking it, I think. I can't really tell actually. I think I'm attracted to it because it's just so more like a fashion editorial you would see in an independent magazine from Hungary, as opposed to a lookbook from France. Yup, that's totally it.

Good to see the French can have a bit of, um, humour...no...umm...goth persuasion?
