My Goals For This Year

So you guys... school is starting back soon. REAL soon. It is going to creep up on us... waiting to pop out and scare us! And now that we have gotten out of the ways of just how excited I am, let's get on with it. Just like any normal child, I am going to strive to have a really good year! So.... I have created a personal list of goals to help me keep on a schedule that can guide me to reach his goal! But, I am not sharing this with you so that you can know every detail about my life stalkerishly *new word!*, more as inspiration to create your own.

1) Keep Academics as my NUMBER ONE! At all times. Do not let drama or friends get in the way of it. It is the most important thing about school (you know, learning!) So throughout the whole year, I AM going to keep a 95 average (at the very least) in all subjects, even on progress reports. No questions. So great thing I have friends who will push me to achieve this and support me instead of rival me. *Thanks TeenWiki!* This also includes no intentional missing assignments. No zeros in the gradebook.

2) Be very active in any extracurriculars I can! Academically speaking, there are plenty to participate in! Academic Quiz Bowl! Math Team! I just need to involve myself in these things to broaden my understanding of them and to let me learn more!

3) Be active in drama. Theatre is very important to me, and is something I genuinely enjoy! Being so, I would like to involve myself in as much of that as possible. My new school has a VERY rigorous and developing drama department, with a heck of a good teacher! It equips you to take your talents even farther. They go to many theatrical competitions within the year, including the Junior Theatre Festival, Junior Theatre Conference, One- Act Theatrical Competition, and a few more I cannot remember! So that is gonna be pretty cool....

4) Keep on the good side with all my classmates. I want to be a person who is friends with everybody, and has no enemies. Who can open up and be themselves, and not be made fun of. So I'm really going to strive to be nice and very Christian-like to everybody next year. And knowing my class mates, I'm gonna need a lot of self discipline!!

5) Have good behavior. I, not being the perfect child, do slip up sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I am no juvenile delinquent, I have never gotten into a fist fight or sent to the Principal's Office (and I don't plan to.) But nonetheless, I would like to build up my self discipline and keep my temper with people. I tend to sometimes have a wee bit of a problem with that, but that is officially a thing of the past!

Popularity

Hey you guys! I'm sorry I haven't been posting lately! It has been SO busy! I have a seriously sick family member so I have been spending some time with them. But I do have a nice piece planned for you guys. I'm very opinionated on it. It is: Popularity!

My views on popularity... who really cares? The air headed popular guys? Wow they seem like keepers! What I'm saying is, why does being popular even matter? Will it matter in 30 years when life is completely dependent on the decisions you have made? Nope! Won't make a dent! Will the size of you're paycheck be on the line if you don't get these new shoes? I seriously doubt it! And do you know why? Because, actually, no body cares! As I, the nerd, see it popularity is really just insecurities. The need to be above everybody else to function. Having to know you're the best (looking) in order to go on. And doing anything to make sure you stand in this position. Are you really so insecure about your face you need to change it? Or so insecure about you're height? Or you're hair? Or even you're feet? Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with wanting to look pretty. But there is a huge difference in complimenting yourself, and changing yourself. HUGE! And do you want to be the person who looks like they dislike them selves so much they NEED to be changed?

What IS popularity? 'Dating' the hottest guy in school (the airhead you must tolerate for the rest of you're life?) Spending all your money on the hottest trends (Guaranteeing you have no college money?) Pushing others down so that you may stand taller (Ya, you may be the pretty one, but who TRULY likes you?) Personally, I do not want to be that person. I am most definitely fine sticking with the nerds! I don't even want to be popular , and I'm sure I never will be. And I do not tolerate them either. I want to be the one who knows how to say no. Who likes the herself and who she is becoming. Who isn't afraid to sit with the new kid at lunch. The question is- Is that you? Is that who you WANT to be?

Well, as usual, I have a little challenge for you guys! When school starts- Be yourself. Don't worry about popularity. Think about the future consequences - Not only the present, and most certainly not the past. Theatre and I!

If you do not already know this about me, I am OBSESSED with theatre! From School to broadway! I don't have to be in it, just watching makes my heart skip a beat. I participate in any drama-related extra-curricular possible. This means every club, every play, everything I can! I love it! And I have seen a lot of plays, too! Check out da list (I'm only going to mention the ones I have seen Off-Broadway)

Legally Blonde the Musical- based off the hit movie starring Reese Witherspoon, Elle Woods (a preppy sorority blonde played by Laura Bell Bundy) chases her 'one true love' to Harvard Law, where she has many adventures, and finds herself a whole new woman by the end of the tale!
Fave Song: Legally Blonde and Whipped Into Shape
Annie- at the Fox Theatre, Annie takes a spin for the best! In fact, I saw this play after competing (and winning, I may add) a national thespian competition, which made it all the more enjoyable!
Fave Song: Little Girls and You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile
Wicked- a hilarious prequel to the movie and book, The Wizard of Oz. Starring Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth, this entertaining musical introduces The Wicked Witch, Glinda the Good, Dorothy, and all her friends, along the way explaining how The Wicked Witch isn't so 'Wicked!'
Fave Song: No Good Deed and Defying Gravity
Mamma Mia!- This was the most recent one I saw, and still the most clear in my mind. But this fascinating musical (whose music was done by the classic ABBA) demonstrates the importance of a mother-daughter bond, and just how unimportant men are! Just kidding, it actually says just the opposite! The more the merrier!
Fave Song: Money, Money, Money and Honey, Honey

That's it! Though I hope to see more soon! And the ironic thing is, my favorite musical isn't even one I've seen! It is In The Heights! An amazing musical about a struggling latino community glued together with love! GREAT music! Look it up! In fact, that is today's challenge! Then post a fun fact you learned about it! Twitter Glitches and Bad Babysitters!

So I'm truly sorry, to all those faithful followers out there who are on Twitter with us, but currently there is a small glitch in the Twitter system. Ok- Big Glitch! It says I have 0Followers and 0Following and I know for a fact that is a plain out fib. I know the truth! And in addition, it's not letting me tweet! RECKLATS!!! So for all of you looking forward to the daily bible verse, I'm sorry! But anyways...

Today I had a babysitter (you know I am in my teen years, but no specific age.) Technically she wasn't really for me, more so for my messes I can't clean up: My 8 year old sister and 10 year old brother. But I, being old enough to babysit, was observing her ways and techniques. And that is very hard to do if she doesn't have any. She was at our house for 11 hours and did not leave the couch (or her phone) once! Well she did leave it one time... and it was to pick up my sister's Nintendo DSI to throw it away in the trash can. Nice going! *Add that to the technique list- throw away the children's expensive electronics* So I asked her why she did that and she said, "I have been cleanin up ya'll's messes ALL day" and, in my head, I was thinkin "Welll Sweetie Pie! You have been on the couch all day eating our food and spreading gossip through the phone to every corner of town! So hush, honey!" But I, being a more respectful person, did NOT say that. I simply said, "Oh ok." Got the game out of the trash and returned it to my sister End of story.

I'm sorry that this blog was more of a rant this a funny post, I just had to get it out of my system! Check in tomorrow, I have a HILARIOUS post planned!! So check in frequently! Buh-Bye for now!

David's Dancing

Today at church, my preacher's sermon really touched me. I'm definitely not one of those kids who doesn't pay attention during the sermon, though. I don't count the light fixtures (20,) wooden boards on the ceiling (72,) or air vents (12.) I don't count the pews in the Sanctuary (22), or the Polka dots on the blouse on the lady in front of me (63.) That most definitely does NOT sound like me! But in all seriousness, I do like to pay attention to the sermon. It is my favorite part. I even have a little journal that I write down a mini-synopsis of them in each Sunday after church. But today, I must admit, was my favorite of them all. The subject: Outward Appearances.

In the sermon today, we talked about the bible lesson when David, who had just taken Saul's place as King of Israel, is doing something that no king has EVER done before: He is bringing the Ark of God, also known as the Ark of the Covenant, to the town. To the Israelites, the Ark of God is the evidence that God exists. In case you don't know what it is, it is the box that contains Tablets of Stone that have the 10 Commandments engraved on them. But anyways, the Israelites see this as the proof that God exists, so to have it come to their own town for Show-and-Tell is a one time opportunity! Not to mention that King David will be practically PRAISED seeing that NO dude has EVER accomplished this! King David comes to speak to the people the day before the Ark of the Covenant is scheduled to arrive and, unable to withhold his excitement, begins to dance. Like -no joke- FULL-out, uncontrollably, MAJORLY-embarrassing-himself dancing. And won't stop. Eventually, the old king's daughter, Michal (who still holds a grudge towards him for replacing her father,) approaches him and basically tells him he is making a total fool out of himself, needs to stop, and is disgracing the monarchy. Wow. Harsh!! But David, immune to her hurtful insults, responds saying that such an attitude comes with a consequence. She will not be allowed to attend the showing of the Ark of the Covenant. BURN! And, after finishing telling her off, keeps dancin! GO DAVID!

I think that the point of this lesson is that we could all learn to be a little bit more like David. In this modern world we call home, people care WAY too much about what others think of them. How others think they look. How others think they act. And it can effect their actions until they stray farther and farther away from what God wants them to do, because he is the only person who you should care what he thinks of you. So this means, just don't care what others think of you! Why does it matter? Will it matter in 30 years? Be yourself! Don't change for other people! A little quote from Yours Truly, "If they are your friends, they should except you as you are, if they dislike you, what's the point in changing their opinion, and if they don't know you, Why the recklats would you care?!?" And yes, I did just make up a word!

I hope you liked it! This is a matter me and TeenWiki both have really strong opinions on, so you will probably be hearing more about it! But for now, it's time for a challenge: I challenge everybody to use the word 'Recklats' twice today and tomorrow. And then comment on the reactions(: Have fun!

Suitcases

This might seem totally random, and maybe it might go unappreciated. But for those of you that travel a lot, or sell them, or whatever, please read this. I spent my greatly treasured time on this post.
Anyway, as you might know, I must be out-of-town for the next week. Refer to Bye... for details. So, since my duffel bag wasn't really working, with its limited space and non-existent wheels, I had to REPACK into another suitcase. Yeah, repack. As in all the grunt work I had to do to fit bed linens and towels and, like, seventeen changes of clothes into a small 2 by 1 foot space, with the shoving and kicking and hurting my fingers, just went wasted. I had to re-experience all my hard strivings in the mist of a mothball smell. Have any of you noticed that? Suitcases always smell like mothballs. And I get nauseated really easily, so I was soon feeling like a Tylenol. Then came the zipping part. That is the absolute worst part of packing. You have to bring in your little sibling and them lie down on top as you zip. And sometimes that isn't even enough. This is like the only time that couch potatoes come in handy. The more CP someone is, the fatter they are, the more they will weigh, totally helping your case! Ha ha, no pun intended. Anyway, anyone else super strongly dislike suitcases as much as I do?

Scared to Sleep!

So, as we were watching Edward Scissorhands as a family last night (which we would NEVER be doing if my mother were at the beach, not home,) I couldn't help but to steal a few glances at my brother and sister, who's faces looked as if they just saw future them come back to say hello. They. Were. TERRIFIED. After the worst ending EVER, my siblings were at their climax of the night, and are pasted to me as we travel up the stairs. I turn toward my room, expecting us all to branch off, but NO! They follow me and as soon as they are through the doorway they SPRINT into my room an collapse on my bed. Scaredy- Cats!! I reprimand them on knowing when they are not wanted, then realize the true terror in their eyes. They sleep in my room. I think that as all 3 of us slept in that full size bed last night though, we experienced a new bond. We learned new things about each other. I learned that one snores, one sleep- talks, and I am officially the only normal child.

Bye... For a Week

I have to go away, for a week. Starting Monday. On some summer camp thing that my church offered. So no posts from me, for an entire week, in a row. I know, so sad. However, to keep up the sadness, I have written a very sad-themed poem for you guys. Read and weep.

I bet you didn't know
That on the dark night
When obligations were forgotten
And you walked away so harshly
Not giving a second thought
We weren't unforgotten
In her eyes, she knew little
But she saw my tears
I cried where it could be erased
Through her eyes, my sorrow was opened
She was the only one that I kept visible
To the intensity of sadness I didn't want her to know

Did you ever indeed come back?
Did you see what had happened?
Did you see past the charade I had kept up?
Did you understand what went on
Beyond my face I kept smiling?
I bet you didn't.
But that's okay, I don't blame you for it.

Anyways, I was scoping around on our Twitter account, looking at the live feed. I have just gotta point out that you don't have to post every time you eat a banana! I mean GREAT job! So proud! *And in case you couldn't hear the sarcasm, it was most definitely there* But, as a writer, one thing I LOVE is humor. Comedy. It's great! What can I say? I love to laugh! A lot of them were titled 'funniest' and that doesn't technically mean funny at all. Because, obviously, they were not. Fortune Cookies

What's the point? Yes they are positive, upbeat messages to motivate you to strive to get more in life (most likely used with the pharmaceutically tested Placebo Effect process.) But honestly- What's the big deal? Have you yet to have a fortune actually come true? That's what I thought! It's extremely rare! *if you have had a fortune come true, leave me the story *with details* in the comments* I have a few funny stories of my own in fact(:

So once at my old church (before I moved,) my preacher was out sick and we hadn't scheduled anybody to fill in. So of course, we did improv stand up comedy at our traditional Episcopal Church! One person told a story about their son who had gotten a fortune cookie that said, "You have completed your goal in life. Complete it on another planet. The aliens will come to abduct you at precisely 12 tomorrow. Be prepared!" It was crazy! He had the fortune as proof! And it scared his poor son half to death! And just for your reassurance, I will add, he did NOT get abducted. Oh shocker! It didn't come true! So my point is made!

And just for the record, I'm gonna point out I am not 'dissing' on fortune cookies, or the cultural tradition behind them. I am simply putting my opinion onto the world wide web. And just because I love my viewers SO much- I am going to post an amusing picture, just for YOU!

Parachuting

Once, my preacher was preaching on Easter, and he said the one on the cross who was crying out to Jesus just to be saved was praying a parachute prayer. You know, parachutes are handy to pull out when you're falling, and that's the problem with some of us. We only pray when we need something. And that's a bad habit. it's also a hard habit to break. Something that has helped me lots in dealing with this issue is writing my prayers. Aibileen from The Help was smart. If you write down your prayers daily, it will keep you from only asking God for things you need at the moment. How I teach my little sister to read, I tell her to tell God hi, then tell Him about her day, how she wants her next one to be like. It really works. You should try it.

Over- Manufacturing!

So over the past few weeks of summer, I've been doing a lil' shopping! And as I looked over all the 'stuff' I bought, I realize just how over- manufactured it all is! The original is JUST as good, but people (like me) see the newer stuff that is the same thing, just physically mutated. Now, just so that you may see the ridiculousness of reality, I have put a few pictures.

1) My brand new All Star Converse - Yes, they are a mix of Toms/Bobs and converse. Crazy! I have 7 pairs of converse, and 6 of them are the original model and I like them just as much, if not more, BECAUSE they are the original! So check for over manufacturing? Check!

2) My new flash-drive. Yes, it is Einstein. Let me repeat: My. Flash. Drive. Is. Einstein! And if you rip off his highly intelligent head- you find the USB porter. Why does it matter what it looks like? Cause all it really looks is crazy anyways! As long as it holds my junk- I'm cool! So product 2? Check!

3) Last but not certainly not least! My new peas and carrot candy made by the one and only- Jelly Belly. They are orange sherbet and green apple flavored VEGETABLES! Need i go on?

How-To: Be Deemed Responsible

So, earlier, my father told me that since I was more responsible, I might get the laptop I was promised for the birthday after the one in three months (Ha ha, see what I did there?) eariler. But beware, whenever a grown-up tells you that you're responsible, it's just their reverse-psychology plan to get you to be responsible. So, I've been trying to be more responsible, because I need a laptop. So, I thought I might put together a little pictographic tutorial as well on this concept.

How-To: Be Deemed Responsible

First off, though I know it's hard, never leave your room looking like this.

Then, win this many medals to make it look like you're exceedingly smart.

And make sure to put postcards like these all around your room to make it look like you have planned out your life and where you want to go.

SSS here! So I've been playing this little trick on my bestie, TeenWiki, for a little while now. Okay, so you guys know my SSS? Secret Soul Sister? The one that always leaves behind those sweet comments? Well, I finally figured out who she is, my absolute best friend that I always go on about! And, now, we have decided to fully collaborate on this blog. I am changing my name to Teen Wiki (a hint about my age, huh?) and her name is.... Slyish Rose. Bugs

Ahhhh! Okay, sorry, that was just to let out the anxiety I've been harnessing all night. Have I told you I have a thing for bugs? And, not a good thing. Like, a BAD thing. So, I was not a happy trouper last night when this flying cockroach THING flew past me in my bedroom. And it was past midnight already.
My dad thought it would be easy to kill it, just use this electric tennis racket thing we have. He tried to kill it, and at the same time tried to avoid getting stung (if it could sting), so it looked more like Daddy was running from it than towards it. He ran in circles around my room, but then it flew up by the ceiling fan, and there if we wacked it, the ceiling fan would fly off. So, Daddy stood on a chair and tried to reach it, but it crawled up in that cone thing that attaches the hanging pole to the ceiling. We went out and got the ladder and a flashlight, and told me to fetch him some chopsticks. Chopsticks? Absolutely no idea how that would've worked. So, instead, we got straws, and Daddy tried to fish it out of there. In his haste, he started swinging the hanging pole around making my ceiling fan do crazy circles that scared me. It still wouldn't come out. I told him to use the straw as a parascope, and try to use it to look in and up, but he ignored me. I think he was already getting tired of this whole gimmick as he had planned to go to sleep an hour ago. Then, I had the brilliant idea of using a bunch of extension cords and a blow dryer, trying to blow the bug out of there. So, he was just like, "Try it." And we did, except all it succeeded in doing was blowing bunches of dust all over my room, making my good night's sleep even worse than it already was going to be. Finally, Daddy just about gave up, saying whatever. But, I'm like, There. Is. A. Flying. Cockroach. In. My. Room. That's when I started getting paranoid. I decided that it was incredibly vital that we cover up the hole in which it had crawled. With, like, Duct Tape. Because interior decorating doesn't mean jack to me when bugs are involved. But I couldn't find it. So, we about turned into a not-so-happy Swiss family, because I was yelling at my mom to find the Duct Tape, and she was yelling at me that she hadn't touched it. And my dad is just standing there dreaming of his bed. Eventually, we used actual duct tape, not Duct Tape. Because Duct Tape is actually the worst for actual ducts. The tape we used was built for ducts. So, now, my ceiling fan looks like this:

And, best case scenario: The THING got squashed in Daddy's process, and is forever dead.

Worst case scenario: It's still alive, waiting for the day when the tape will loosen, when it can finally crawl out at night, when I'm asleep, and sting me, savoring its revenge on the one who attempted to kill it.

Anyway, I did NOT sleep well. My mouth might as well have been sealed with tape, and my ears were thoroughly covered by my hair. I alternated from clutching my blanket and unwaveringly staring at the fan, and huddled under my blanket shell, every inch of me covered, and my blanket tucked in around all the edges. How I didn't suffocate, no idea. So, not looking forward to tonight.

"Artemis 2" is the shipping name that Catching Fire is under. You know, as in THE SECOND MOVIE OF THE HUNGER GAMES? Well, there is a bunch of information about the filming of the movie on this post at Acting Auditions, and guess what, the extras call information will be posted on this website first! So, be sure to continuously check it, and while you're at it, check mine lots, too. Because I don't know about the rest of you, but it has been my pretty much lifelong DREAM to be a film actor. And while I'm young, too. So, I HAVE to go to the extras calling. And, to mention, it's not only the experience, it's the fact that they pay you as well. Eight hundred dollars. A day. To be on the set of Catching Fire! But, the thing is, my parents aren't that supportive of my acting, haven't I told you that before. So, in order to go, I would have to drag my knees in dirt, and much more. Urghh, it's irritating. But there is NO way I am letting this big of an opportunity get away from me.

Customer Service

Today, I had to call Customer Service for support, and it has just occurred to me how much these people must dislike their jobs. I'm sure they get prank-called a lot. But, for your amusement, I've recorded some of my conversation with this customer helper.

Me: Okay, I'm pushing down the button.

CS: Good.

Me: Um, how long am I supposed to hold down the button?

CS: Until we tell you to let go, ma'am.

And, then, when I had to text someone for my home number, (Because of course I don't keep my own numbers handy, right?) while I was waiting for them to answer, I pulled a School of Rock gimmick. I was on speaker, so I walked around and flipped through papers, making it sound like I was looking for it, all the while wishing someone would hurry up and answer my question. Very proud of myself for being able to come up with an impromptu sound choreography.

Also, I don't like giving away my personal information. I'm sure you get that jest by the fact that this whole blog is under a pseudonym. But, in order to get to the part where they solve your problem for you, you have to go through a mini advertising process where they ask you your name and number for record purposes, then you have to give your email in order for them to send a bunch of promotional offers that just lure you to spend even more money.

But, I have something to pat myself on the back for. I never get mad at Customer Service. Well, maybe that's unfair to say, since this was my first time calling, but still. In fact, I think the helper was kind of annoyed at my giddiness. Hey, that's my way of being friendly. Oh well.

Fireworks

So, I finally got to see some sparklers on the 4th. My friend's family invited me to go with them to a special person dinner thing, and we sat on the balcony watching fireworks. They were amazing! And, on spur of the moment, I wrote a poem! Enjoy.

Not just explosions of light, they are packages of beauty
Their silver trails of stars aas they travel higher up
The most priceless sight you could see is one that doesn't last
Within seconds your eyes must capture the temporary art
And the trails of smoke that are left behind, not forgotten as their sisters share the spotlight
Even though they move swiftly along, fireworks are not quickly forgotten

Independence Day

Happy birthday, America! And to those others of you that feel totally hip to share your birthday with Uncle Sam, as well. Me, however, this is the first time I'll do something beside sit at home and laze around. My local acting camp is throwing a parade around downtown, and I'm excited to go and be a part of it! Just hope it doesn't rain! Because, yeah, my family doesn't really celebrate holidays traditionally. We've never lit sparklers, never bought them. Last year we didn't even spend Thanksgiving together since half of my family was visiting family. And, we haven't had a Christmas tree in year, because we're never all home on Christmas, we're usually somewhere since that time of year has the most vacation. So, this is exciting for me. Finally being able to celebrate a holiday somewhat normally. :) And I know this is totally random, so thank you those who read this.

Oh, and I just found this, and find it quite hilarious. It's a Christmas ornament, but it celebrates another holiday!... Or maybe I'm the only one who finds irony funny.

Scarred: Bit 2

Well, peoples, congratulations. You have somehow managed to please my never-ending hunger for pageviews and comments. Just a little. Especially since I learned that there is something wrong with the commenting application. I will proceed to send an angry letter to Google. Anyhow, here is the second tidbit.

Scarred: Bit 2

August 26^th, 2010

My backpack weighed me down as I walked to the subway from school. It was only the fourth week since I had started ninth grade, but already I was loaded down with homework and books. And the fact that I had decided to take all the AP classes that I was qualified for – and that meant all of them – didn’t help either. I had gotten my ticket from the electronic ticket dispenser and was walking to the restrooms when a boy about my age rudely bumped me and told me off for it, too. “Sheesh!” I thought to myself. I quickly felt my pockets, too. And, no kidding, my wallet was missing. Already, though, he was out of sight, so I decided to give it up. With a New York subway station, you can forget about trying to find anyone without a set location. Really, though, all that was in there was three bucks and a half-decent picture of me.

After a trip to the restroom, I went out to the lobby to wait for my train. When it got here I got my stuff and made my way out to the platform. In the crowd I saw the same young man from the restroom. “What, is he a stalker or something?” I muttered to myself. Double threat, wow. Probably not, he just had the same train, but I tend to over-exaggerate a lot, it comes with being a writer. As I was debating approaching him and causing a scene over less than five dollars worth of possessions, the train pulled in and a voice over the PA announced that the passengers should start filing into the train in an orderly fashion. I make my way to an empty seat near the back. I like the back because it’s more peaceful and gives me a chance to think. That might come in handy with all that homework I’ve got tonight. But guess who apparently likes the back, too? Rude, stalker, pickpocket boy. What is it with him? I seriously consider moving to a seat in the front, no matter the noise. But, too late, the train has already started moving. With the situation I was in, i could already make up a fake scenario. If this was a fantasy, I would be totally smooth in reproaching him, making him give me my wallet back. Then he would, but later, I would discover that he kept my picture, and on one of my dollars, he had scribbled his number, along with a "Call me :)" note. And then.... "Oh, shut up, Serena," I tell myself. I'll never be some guy's dream. I'm a total nerd. Well, at least I could stick with what I'm good at.

When the teacher teaches you the whole periodic table of elements in class yet sends you home with homework that covers mitochondria that very same day, homework proves to be quite a challenge. I have no idea why I qualified for AP Science. I suck at it. I regret – and not for the first time, either – why in the world I had decided to take all AP classes. Ugh! It goes without saying I’m totally brain-dead by the time I’m done with all that homework. The train’s not even to my stop yet, so I take out my iPod to kill time. Soon, I nod off to a point halfway between consciousness and unconsciousness.

So, whadya think? I'm not the best at knowing where to stop to provide a successful cliffhanger, though, so this was the best I could do.

Sarie Wisdom

Okay, so, a while back, I wrote this story. And, although it does give my identity away quite a bit, I thought it was worth it, because it is such an awesome story! Okay, I'm sorry. I'm not really being modest here. But, I wrote it with a, like, five page restraint, so it's not the absolute best. But, I really don't think it's horrible either. Here you go:

Sarie Wisdom

Mother always told me to speak my mind. I never really got how my mind was something you could speak, like a language, but she said this meant always saying what I was thinking. She said when everyone could hear what I thought, they wouldn’t judge me so harshly. I didn’t know what that meant, but Mother said it meant a good thing. But I never did like to talk in front of people. So Mother let me write my thoughts down, instead. And on special occasions, if I were okay with it, she would sometimes read them out loud to people. She called the thoughts Sarie Wisdom, thoughts from Sarie.

Sarie Wisdom on Names:

I never understood those names. Mother’s real name is Sierra, but I don’t call her that because I tell her she’s a mother, not a sierra. She just looked at me in the eyes, and I could tell she was trying really hard not to look at God. My father, I don’t call him Father, because he’s not one. In the big book of words, it says Father is a man who has a child. But Mother says a Father is really someone who is there for me. My father hasn’t been here for ten years now. And the big book of words says that somebody who isn’t here is Nobody. So I call my father Nobody.

But sometimes names aren’t just for people. Sometimes people name how people act. Mother says I act with Asperger’s Syndrome. I don’t know how AS can tell a person how I act, though, because behavior is made up of actions, not names, at least, that’s what Mr. Counselor tells me.

Sarie Wisdom on Mr. Counselor:

Mother says Mr. Counselor is supposed to help me talk about my feelings. Really, though, I don’t care much about feelings. According to what I read from my mother’s old psychological textbook, feelings aren’t real. And if something isn’t even real, I don’t see any reason to deal with them, much less talk about them. But Mr. Counselor seems to think otherwise, because our first meeting went a lot like this:

He tells me that his name is Mr. Garder, and that he will be here with me this year to talk to me about my Friends and Family.

I tell him I will call him Mr. Counselor because that’s what he is. A Mister and a Counselor.

He stretches his lips up at both ends real wide, which Mother says is what someone does when they are Happy, and Happy is a good Emotion. But, his mouth is stretched so wide, I don’t see how you could ever Emotion Happy that way.

“Why don’t we talk about your family? Who’s your dad?”

“Nobody.”

His lips pull even tighter.

“So your dad. He’s… nobody?”

I shake my head up and down so he knows I mean it.

“Okay. What about your mom? She’s not nobody, right?”

“No, she’s not Nobody, but she’s not a sierra, either.”

By now I’m wondering how come his mouth hasn’t fallen off by now.

“Okay, well… How about you go back to class? Next time, we’ll start talking about feelings.”

Sarie Wisdom on Mr. Counselor’s My Emotions Chart:

Mr. Counselor has a My Emotions Chart in his office. He says that if I learned how to make the faces, I would make more Friends. I guess I should believe him, but it doesn’t make sense. I don’t get how Faces could make me Friends. Besides, Mr. Counselor’s chart has these yellow little circles that have eyes and mouths on them. He calls them smiley faces. But I tell them that he has to be wrong, because a lot of them don’t even smile. And since Mother once told me that humans hate erring, which is a big, fancy word for being wrong, so I told him that if he wanted to be right, he’d just have to call them Emotion Faces. He just breathed out really hard, and it sounded like my Friends when they look at God.

Sarie Wisdom on Friends:

All the people that go to my school, or all the people that are in my class, Mother calls my Friends. But, I wouldn’t know why she calls them Friends, though, because I looked up Friends in the big book of words, and I found that Friends means someone you are close to. So, Mother has got to be wrong about Friends because I never like standing close to people. People get icky up close.

But, with my Friends, whenever I tell Mrs. Teacher about why I don’t want to sit next to a Friend, or why I won’t call her Mrs. Sarah, they breathe even louder than Mr. Counselor and look all the way up to God. When I tell Mother about this, she said that someday their eyes were just going to fall right out of their face. I looked at her real hard, and I told her I would be waiting for that day.

Sarie Wisdom on Nobody:

Nobody was never there for me as long as I can remember. Mother said he left when I was real little. When I asked why he went away, Mother’s eyes started dripping with water. She put one hand both of my shoulders and told me real hard that it wasn’t my fault he left. I never got why she said that, though. I never asked her if it was my fault.

At this Mother stops. People have come over to our house to eat dinner, and Mother is reading them some Sarie Wisdom. On the Nobody section, Mother stops and looks at me. Her eyes are wet, and her mouth is turned in a slight arc. She holds out her arms, which means she wants me to Hug her. I don’t know why, but she likes to Hug me whenever her eyes are wet. I can’t stand Hugs, but I’ll let Mother Hug me occasionally.

She runs her fingers through my hair and tells me that Nobody left because he was Selfish. He didn’t care about me, but it wasn’t my fault. I tell her that it is okay, because somehow, I know it will be okay. Nobody was never there for me. Mother has always been there. And I know, she will never leave.

So, what so you think? I am fascinated with Asperger's Syndrome, and would like to do extensive research on it. So, you might hear me talk on about that some. Just bear with me, please.
