Why do verification codes always look the way they do?

"When you try to set up an account on a site. When you have to copy the verification code, it always looks weird. As if they do not want us to know what the letters are."

Well dummy, here's why!

That is what is known as a CAPTCHA, a Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. Basically, they're trying to make sure there's an actual person and not a spam bot. There are programs that can process a picture with words on it and understand it, so they have to distort the letters. They try to distort them enough that computers won't be able to figure it out but not too much so that you could still make it out.

The Ides of March It’s an ominous day in ancient history: The ides of March, or the day of Julius Caesar’s back-stabbing assassination. And though that event happened many centuries ago — 44 B.C., to be precise — the day has taken on a superstitious aura, much like Friday the 13th. “Beware the Ides of March,” said the soothsayer in Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar,” and we've heeded those words ever since.

The word Ides comes from the Latin word "Idus" and means "half division" especially in relation to a month. It is a word that was used widely in the Roman calendar indicating the approximate day that was the middle of the month. The term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October, and the 13th day of the other months. The Ides of March was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held.

Before Caesar’s assassination, the word ”Ides” was just a calendar term to mark the full moon. But after he was murdered by a group of conspirators led by Marcus Brutus, the day took on its new, portentous meaning — a day when prophecies of doom are realized.Will today be that kind of a day?

Cocacola VS Pepsi

Coca-Cola and Pepsi are the two most popular and widely recognized beverage brands in the world. Within their lineup of beverages, Pepsi-Cola and Coca-Cola Classic are the predominant carbonated cola beverages.

Taste
Although when compared in double blind taste tests, the majority of people could not tell the difference in taste, people will swear they love one or the other.

Carbonation
If you are comparing the original Coca-Cola and the original Pepsi COLA, Coca-Cola has 1 gram less carbonation than Pepsi.

Brand War
Both drinks are no longer seen as a beverage but mainly as a brand. Both companies commit heavily to sponsoring outdoor music festivals and are even charitable

Marketing

Both Coca-Cola and Pepsi try to market as part of a life-style. Coca-Cola uses phrases such as "Coke side of life" in their website, www.coca-cola.com, while Pepsi uses phrases such as "Hot stuff" in their website, www.pepsi.com, to promote the idea that Pepsi is "in sync" with the cool side of life. Coca-Cola is more popular but Pepsi has a bigger company.

Pepsi tries to reach out to the younger generation by appealing to pop culture. If you visit their website you will be greeted with flashy pages containing pop music, cars, and fashion.

Coca-Cola's website also has links for music and sports, two arenas in which soda-pop is often consumed; however, Coca-Cola's is less flashy and uses a classical appeal, most likely because of Coca-Cola's long history as the standard for cola beverages.

Advertisements

Coca-Cola had Christina Aguilera featured in their commercials, while Pepsi had Britney Spears, Keshauntae Brown, Michael Jackson, and Mariah Carey

Additionally while Pepsi with its younger audience tends to focus soley on pop stars, it was Coca-Cola who is regarded as having one of the greatest TV advertisiments of all time, featuring a far more mature pop band Blondie and the enormous hit "Atomic", the video played the main chorus of the song to the backdrop of professional footballers taking part in geniune competitive World Cup games and the noise a contender for the coveted title of Greatest Commercial of All Time in many nations.

I have to definitely go with Cocacola. In my opinion, it tastes more "cool".

Nintendo 3DS or PSP Vita?

Both are the two latest portable Video Game system from Nintendo and Sony respectively and both have there strengths and weaknesses.

I posses both portable system, I think it would be fair for me to give you my input and help you make the best decision.

First of all I think it really Comes down to the games you want, as has been indicated.

The PS Vita has better technology, but it will still cost about $70 US more than the 3DS. 3DS is apparently getting a price cut within the next few months.

Now, I have both. However, if I were to go by the previous generation, I'd prefer a Nintendo product. My PSP has 6 games and my DS has 30+. The 3DS is much more powerful than the DS is, it's not just "a DS with 3D capabilities". It is a new generation, don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

It is not, however, as powerful as the Vita. Vita has better technology behind it and is capable of more, while the 3DS is capable of decent graphics and the 3D is entirely optional. You wouldn't be paying money for a 3D feature you aren't going to use, you'd be paying money for a new handheld which supports DS games and 3DS games.

However, if you are a fan of the games that Sony caters to, you'd prefer a Vita. If you are a fan of classic Nintendo Games, you'd prefer the 3DS. I'm going to go ahead and list what facts I know without my personal opinion (which is both have strengths and weaknesses).

3DS Pros:
- Nintendo games (Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, Metroid)
- Good graphics (mid-range I'd say)
- Interesting game play
- Ability to play things in 3D (optional)
- Virtual store (SNES, NES, GameBoy games for sale to play on the 3DS, plus - 3DSware)
- Backwards compatibility with the DS (and what games are on the eShop)
- Cheaper (soon)

3DS Cons:
- Poor battery life under certain conditions
- 3D doesn't work well for everyone
- Inferior graphics to the Vita
- Poor launch lineup
- Region locking (hate that)

PS Vita Pros:
- Superior graphics and technology
- Will get games that won't be on the 3DS
- Pretty awesome looking games
- A fair difference from the PSP (more additional features from PSP-Vita than --- DS-3DS)
- Good line up (MLB 12 the show is by far my favorite game, but that's just me)
- No region locking

PS Vita Cons:
- Limited backward compatibility (only what you can buy on the PSP Store)
- More expensive
- No Nintendo games (may be a pro depending on your view)

There are obviously many more factors to consider. Personally, as it stands, the only reason I currently have to consider NOT having a Vita, is the Sony fan boys trying to start a war against Nintendo. They are different. They are made different, for different people. They have their strengths, they each have weaknesses. There's no reason to down rate answers and comments because someone likes a different thing than you do. There's people like this who are Nintendo fans as well, but sadly most times I've seen this kind of thing, the Sony fans try to belittle the Nintendo fans unprovoked.

Let's just enjoy the technology, either system you'll choose you will be satisfied. They both have really good things to offer.

Jon Hamm calls Kim Kardashian a ‘f**king idiot!

As if we need any more reasons to love Jon Hamm, he went ahead and said what everyone should already be thinking: Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton are idiots.

“Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated,” he said in the April issue of Elle UK. “Being a fucking idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly. Incuriousness has become cool… It’s celebrated. It doesn’t make sense to me.”

I think he's correct! No talent. Two melons, a *** and a million bucks is all she's got. Pretty face and great body shouldn't mean instant fame. We live in a F*ck up society.

But it doesn't end there The reality star, 31, took to Twitter on Monday to respond to Jon Hamm’s recent dig replying this “I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion,” she wrote. “Not everyone takes the same path in life.”

“We’re all working hard and we all have to respect one another,” the reality star continued. “Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, ‘stupid,’ is in my opinion careless.”

In his interview, Hamm used Kardashian and Hilton as examples to explain that “stupidity is certainly celebrated" in America.

There is absolutely NO WAY she wrote that statement. It is too well worded.

Do You Like Someone for their Looks, or For Their Personality?

I always hated this question because attraction is so layered, it boggles my mind how people always wind up back on this 'either or' scenario.

Physical attraction is very important. but you can also grow to love a face not your initial type, or find someone unattractive who is your type. Ignoring literal facial mannerisms (I'm sure, I'm not the only person who has seen someone gorgeous... until their floppy, Muppet mouth while speaking ruins their face), and biological imprinting of facial ratios, physical attraction is also a chemical thing.

Personality is also nonnegotiable unless is just humping and dumping, but I just don't know enough people who do that, really. even then, you can be so turned off by someone mentally you cannot even fathom their body. For example a chick with extremely low 'IQ', or a chick with an obsessive personally or a maniac man in a girl's case. Personality can also build intimacy (which biologically probably triggers something to do with breeding inside your pack) and lead you to feelings for someone you had never noticed before.

Attraction isn't one dimensional.

Here's a list of the top 10 board games that in my opinion are the best of the best:

10. Scene it?

There is always that one person in your family who doesn’t like to play board games and would much rather sit in their armchair and watch telly. Well this board game is the answer. Although based around a board it also has an interactive DVD element to it. Now I don’t normally like DVD games but this incorporates well into the board game and I have to say works brilliantly. I can’t count the number of times I have played this and it never gets boring, and although it is only about movies they have brought out special editions like Friends and Harry Potter. Definitely one for all the family.

9. Trivia Pursuit

Now how could I not put this game on my list, it is one of my favourites and I am sure I am not alone in thinking it is one of the best loved games across the world. One reason I love it so much is because the numbers of players is infinite as you just get together in teams, so if you have the entire family round you can all play unlike most games where there is usually a limit of 4 players. The questions are very hard but that is a good thing, it would get boring if everyone knew every answer, the game would be over in seconds. I love that they have brought out other editions of this too so you can have questions suited to a subject you like. This game deserves to be second in my list

8. Guess Who?

I love this game, I use to play it all the time as a kid. This is basically a game of elimination. You ask a yes or no question like Does your person have blond hair? Your opponent answers and so on until one of your identities is discovered. I know from that it sounds a little boring. Trust me it's not. I've played this game for hours at a time before. Best of all it helps children to think logically and form relevant questions. A great gift.

7. Operation

I think this is a fantastic game, as it is very different from the normal board games you get. You don’t have a playing piece or make your way round a board, instead you have to carefully extract body parts from a man. You have tweezers and if they touch the sides the board it buzzes and play moves to the next person. I just love the feeling you get as you slowing try to get the piece out, secretly I am scared the buzzer will go off and when it does I jump out of my skin. The only downside is once you have played a few times you get good and then the game is over very quickly.

6. Risk

This game has more than once helped transcend the boredom of a rainy day, putting you on the path for world conquest! Not really all that fun unless you have at least 3 players, but once you do be prepared for a game that could take you all day to finish. Using strategy and the luck of the dice you must try to conquer the world, using little plastic pieces! That's right, no one is actually hurt in this game! Attack or defend, reinforce or (depending on how you play) retreat. This has all the elements of a war on paper, the strategy and gameplay can get extremely intense. A good diversion for you hardcore chess players! If you ever need a game to get you and your family through a boring, rainy day you might want to pick this game up the next time you go to your local toy store or heck, buy it from Amazon!

5. Battleships

This is another childhood favorite that has not diminished with age. This game is as fun now as it was in grade school.

"Battleship" has a lot to do with strategy and luck. You have to strategically place your pieces on the grid so they won't get "hit" and you have to use that and a little bit of luck to do your darnedest to sink your opponent's ships. It can get pretty tense when both players only have one ship left, and one wrong move (or right move depending upon your situation) can end the game.

Fun: Like I said earlier, this is a childhood favorite of mine. When it was raining outside during recess, we would always play this in the classroom. "Connect Four" tournaments and "Battleship" tournaments were the norm when I was in grade school.

Educational: "Battleship" is essentially a thinking game, although a little bit of luck plays into it, too. Both players really have to use their smarts to come out the victor in this game. Seasoned veterans know all too well how strategy can cripple a rookie opponent.

Durability: Both game pieces are like a mini-laptop in a hard plastic casing. So it is indeed very durable. The only thing that could cause a problem are the little red and white pegs with which you mark the game board. These can be a hassle to pick up if a game board is dropped and it accidentally opens up, sending zillions of little pegs rolling around on the floor. These can also be a choking hazard to young people, so that needs to be taken into account as well.
If you love games that will make you think, or you are just someone looking for a fun challenge, "Battleship" is a great game to pick up. The only prerequisite: swimming lessons in case the ship you're on goes down.

4. Checkers

Personally, I'm not much of checkers player, and I prefer chess because it involves more strategy and more complexity (which I like), but you can't denied how successful checkers has been! every time I ask one of my friends if they would like to play a Chess match against me, they replied something like this; "I don't know how to play chess but I can beat you at checkers".

3. Chess

Personally my favorite!

While I was growing up I would see people play this game and be fascinated by it. I never knew how to play it myself and it was always something I wanted to learn. It wasn’t until I was 13 that I finally played my first game of Chess and I was rubbish. Over time I learnt little tactics and now I really love playing it and although I am no pro, I think I am quite good (1430 is my rating). You have to be very strategic to play this with any success and think many moves ahead, but it really is a lot of fun when you get in to it and for that reason is number three in my list.

2. Cluedo

This game is for the wannabe Inspector Cluesos, or Jack Frosts out there. It is a game of logic, you have to solve a murder by witling down the suspects. The game is best with four or more players as I find if there are any less it becomes too easy. All that is left to say is I think it was Mrs White, in the Library with the rope... sorry couldn’t resist.

I am sure this game is designed to bring out the worst in people. So why is it number one in my list, well because that is why I love it so much. When in life can you bankrupt your mum or force you sister to beg for mercy and it all ends up ok in the end. I love it so much because it lets you take control and do things you would never be able to do it real life, unless of course you are a billionaire tycoon in which case you probably do this sort of thing every day. If you have never played this game then you should be warned that it can take hours to play depending on the skill of the other players, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

9. Sell old **** , sell clothes and items you never even use maybe at a garage sell or someone you might know probaley wants it or sell it online you never know who wants it.

10. Work for somebody like if you know someone who has a shop or event you can spread the word for cash.

11. Do EXTRA chores which means do more chores than you usually do. hard work pays off.

A Gold Digger? or Just Looking for Financial Security?

This is a topic that I've been thinking about for quite a while now, and before we start talking about it, this is the definition of a "gold digger".

"Any woman whose primary interest in a relationship is material benefits. A woman who cares more about a man's bank account than she does about the man. "

"The closest male equivalent is a gigolo or boytoy."

"That golddigging tramp was never in love with him; she was in love with his money." according to urbandictionary.com

Donald Trump for example has married several gold diggers.

"You shouldn't be judging people by how the look" well, I just did!

If you think this girl married Donald Trump for his good looks or because she loves him, you're out of your mind! or an out-of-the-ordinary-generous person (perhaps). According to 'Forbes' Trump's net is worth 2.9 Billions! Yes, Billions!
Now that is excellent financial security, and I bet that "small shiny number" was on her mind during the whole process.

Now, that is just an extreme case of 'goldiggin' and shouldn't be taken as an example to judge the entire sex (women). There are male gold diggers as well (I've seen it) it just doesn't have the "marketing" and no one really pays attention to it, but there is.

In the end I think there's some special cases of 'goldiggin' where people are really all in for the money and don't give a damn about the other person's feelings... But, in most cases is just for financial security. Heck! even I would consider marrying a wealthy 45 Year Old woman just for some financial security (or would that make me a gold digger as well?).

Top 10 ways you can cheat on a school test

As a person who makes mistakes, I am sure you are not always prepared for everything that comes your way. One of the most nerve racking things that can happen to anyone is to have a test and not be prepared for it. Now some may choose to B.S it when in this situation, but those who choose to deal with things the most convenient way possible, this is just for you:

10. Rubberneck away

This is probably the riskier way of cheating there is, also the most common. If there is a smartypants near by then flatter him/her by copying from their paper and getting a passing grade... after all who would want their talent to go to waste. This method is all about being kind and giving credit to who deserves it; because that's how we were raised.
* But remember not to copy word for word if it's a written answer instead of multiple choice, doing so might just come back to haunt you.

9. I'm a Gum Chewer
Now who doesn't love gum on a test day?
It stimulates brain cells and memory,eases nervousness and makes your breath smell freaking great. A piece of gum is the perfect cheating device. Starting your test you need a Stride or an Orbit, pop-it in the oven and keep the wrapper. The wrapper will be used as an answer-sheet or simply to go over some notes that will be essential to you passing your test. Make sure to write notes on the gum wrapper before-hand.

8. I'll Finish it Tomorrow!!
Now get your persuasive mode on. This form of cheating is preferably used in multiple choice test. While testing time passes, answer the questions you can and write down the ones you are missing in a separate piece of paper. Letting time run out and looking like you are working super hard to finish your test is key here, so when time does run out you can ask for a chance to finish your test the next day and of course bring back the answers to the questions you had left without an answer.

7. O' so HANDY
Easy and effective; you might have no paper to write on but don't worry your hand is always there (hopefully...) so you can write all the info you need to pass your exam on the palm of your hand. Keep in mind to stay with your hand facing away from the teacher.

6. Accessorize
This method is basically risk free. You need a pen and a wide rubber band or bracelet, write your notes to the back of the bracelet (the side that sticks or touches your skin) and when you start taking your test just casually flip it over to the side that shows you the answers and just flip it back if any teacher gets too close.

5. From Pencil To Desk
As simple as 1,2,3... if you just found out when walking into class that you had to take a test, take a minute before it starts to write all you can on the desk.
*write lightly, in a place were the light hits enough for you to see the answers and simply erase after your done. No evidence left.

4. Backpack Method
Leave your notes in an open backpack, which is covered by your leg. When the teacher isn't looking, move your leg to reveal the notes.

3. Foot Signal Method

This one is recommended for multiple choice tests featuring letters or numbers.

Find a smarter classmate who will let you cheat from him/her. Agree some foot signals beforehand, example:

One quiet step of a foot means A or 1

Two steps means B or 2.

Tapping your feet using your toes means by 10, and tapping your feet using your sides means by 5.

2. The MP3

Write whatever notes you need in a text file and put it on your media player (may require software) or create an image file of the notes and load it. Some players have a feature which allows you to write lyrics for songs – this feature can be used to store information on tests.
Wear a pair of baggy jeans to school.
Make sure your desk is directly behind the person in front of you.
Put your feet up against the back legs of the seat in front of you with your knees high to conceal your lap.
Place player in your lap with your fly open. If your teacher comes near or suspects you, slide it into your pants. (Note: works best for teachers of the opposite sex, particularly girls with male teachers.)

The growing groundswell for marijuana legalization was boosted by as unexpected a voice of support as any – TV evangelist Pat Robertson, noted for his right-wing politics espoused on his long-running (since 1966) syndicated religious program The 700 Club.

In an interview Wednesday with the New York Times the 81-year-old Robertson flatly stated: “I really believe we should treat marijuana the way we treat beverage alcohol ... I’ve never used marijuana and I don’t intend to, but it’s just one of those things that I think: this war on drugs just hasn’t succeeded.”

Will other conservatives follow? he has a good point, but at the same time, I still think is too soon to give up on this Drug War, and there should be another way out, we just haven't come up with it.

War without end. Dog VS Cat

On Google!, did you know that if you search for the word "cat" right now, you’ll find more than 382,000,000 results? And, if you search for the word "dog" you’ll find more than 1,600,000,000 results?

Ask anyone on the street whether they're a cat or a dog person, and chances are, they've got a quick answer. Like the choice between Coke or Pepsi, or chocolate or vanilla, how you respond to cats versus dogs could say a lot about you.

According to the American Pet Products Association, 62 percent of U.S. households have a pet. Dogs win in the popularity race, with 39 percent of U.S. households owning at least one dog, compared with 33 percent of U.S. households owning at least one cat.

Scientists at major academic institutions have devoted time and resources to understanding why people become one or the other.

On a practical level, research shows that we tend to gravitate toward the animal with which we were raised. Another big factor is living space and age. Apartment dwellers in urban areas are more likely to have cats or small dogs, while families living in the suburbs are more apt to have larger dogs like retrievers or bull mastiffs.

Parents with young children generally have energetic dogs the kids can play with outside, while single people or older people are more inclined to have the more low-key cat.

One of the most annoying things during my freshman year in High School was dealing with a strict overweight gym teacher. For me, that's obviously a huge problem!

Every single gym's teacher should have a six pack and be able to run more than 2 miles without getting tired. "But isn't that kind of unfair?" No! their only job is to get in shape and share their formula or guide us through it.

Those are the kind of teachers that made us change our clothes for the credits only, and not really for recreational purposes, because the inspiration to get in shape just wasn't there.

Now is being an expert on nutrition good enough even when we have nothing to show for?

I don't know how this is catching on so quickly. The film was so self-centered on the creator of the film, which obviously cost a significant amount of money to make. Also, once you delve into the issues, 'Invisible children' is not doing the right thing here. They are making money off of this "non profit" organization and paying salaries in the hundreds of thousands. In addition, only half of the money donated is actually being put towards the cause, which is basically supporting the Uguandan army, which is slightly less corrupt than the guy Kony that they are trying to capture.

Finally, military action is not the best way to capture a suspect who is protected by an army of children. Even if you get Kony, you're killing hundreds, if not thousands of kids in the process. People will jump on board with anything and they think they are making a difference by sharing this video, but they are really just making more money for the film creator and the other employees.

Don't get me wrong, I support the cause, and I really hope they capture him. At the same time there's a lot of similar things happening all throughout Africa and some other parts of the world, they just don't have the marketing.
