Oh boy!
I have been neglecting you my dear blog.

I'm smack dab in the middle of wedding season, so in order to keep up
with my work flow I needed to take a step back from the blog.

I'm so beyond grateful to be busy working.
I have been meeting new clients, scouting fun locations,
and going on some fabulous adventures with my couples and families.

In between shooting, processing, and editing...I have managed to sneak in a few days off to hang
with the family, and even catch a few hours of sleep that I seem to always be chasing. ; )

Now let's get caught up a bit!

They're one of my favorite couples. My first wedding couple to be specific.
They gave me a gift, an opportunity, to achieve a goal that I thought was far in my future.

Shooting a wedding is some serious business. It's a moment that cannot be repeated.
You get one shot to make it happen.
It's nerve wracking.
But the benefits out weigh the nerves for me.

The dynamics are complex. It's not just about the couple. It's also about the
relationships around them. It's not everyday that we are surrounded by everyone
in our lives that has meant something to us.

Our guests are the people who are responsible for who we are today.
I adore that about a wedding.
Add that to fabulous decor, details, and amazing attire...and you got yourself one heck of a celebration!

I can't believe that I'm fortunate enough to be a fly on the wall during those moments.

I sat with Mindy a few months after her wedding at a local Panera Bread
sipping coffee and sharing tid-bits about our lives.
That day she said a few things to me that I swear changed my life.

I'm not sure what I did to deserve a couple like Mindy and Shawn,
or all of the fabulous couples there after, but I know for sure that each person,
every single one has effected me deeply.

It's not, and never will be just business here in my world. It's personal.
It's impossible to not feel attached in some way for me.

My clients have restored my faith in the human race to be quite honest.
I know. I totally sound like a dork, but it's true.
In my 'last life' I was pushing papers at a bank, and dealing with numbers,
while the folks around me only cared about the bottom line.

Now my life revolves around people who are blissfully happy.
New parents coddling their first newborn, or a family welcoming a new sibling.
Happy events, wonderful milestones and couples who found their 'forever'.

Everyday people relishing life, and enjoying the minutes that slip by us to fast for us to catch.

Some would call it luck to have a job that you love. I call it hard work.
Yes. I love what I do...but I have worked many sleepless hours to make it happen.
Work is not just taking pictures for me.
Work is also trying to find the happy balance between my love for 'it', my family and my home.
It's not easy.

While it's not easy, there is not a day that goes by that my heart is not filled with gratitude for getting the chance to see the possibilities that were laid before me.
What's amazing is that we all have these endless possibilities whether we choose to believe that or not.

Maybe I'm hopefully optimistic, or overly enthusiastic at times, but I find you can't hide happiness.
This line of 'work' makes me dang giddy.

So if we should meet one day and I'm smiling from ear to ear,
or talking a mile a minute in a overly animated manner...please don't write me off as a crazed lady.
Even if at times that's what I am at home.

I hope you will know that I'm just as excited as you are about the moments
you are giving me the wonderful privilege to document.

A photograph to me is a gift of memories that keep on giving.
I want you to be able to re-live the joy, fun, the year, your age, the newness once more.
I want you to have a tangible memory that would otherwise be lost if not for a picture.

So enjoy the moment for all that it's worth, the time and circumstances may never come again.
But rest assured the feelings will...when you see the photographs.

Mindy has come back and referred more clients then I can count time and time again.
I'm forever grateful for her faith in me before I had it in myself.

I had the awesome privilege to see her last month when a new bundle arrived
and made her family a bit bigger. Again.

And again, I get a chance to go to 'work' and feel as if my feet has wings.

Going my way?

Childhood and Change - The 'C' Kids!

I remember her as if it were yesterday.

We were BFF's when big hair, and wearing different colored, double scrunched socks was cool.

On second thought...I'm not sure if we really did that...that parts kinda fuzzy. ; )

We would make mixed tapes back when you could record off the radio,
and I remember lip syncing with her to Whitney Houston.
Hands down she had the best sense of humor.
You knew where she was before you even saw her, because of her hearty laugh.
She was always laughing.
She made you feel as if you were the funniest person on the planet.

Life has a way of changing things. School changes us. Friends change us.
Just like the times we had together...forever changed who we are today.

I believe each person we meet along the way helps shape us whether we know it or not.

High school comes with new friends, and new classes...and before you know it,
your once intertwined paths now lead you in separate directions.

I'm not sure really how it happens or why, but I'm grateful for the moments I remember.
I'm pretty sure my childhood wouldn't have been quite the same without her...
or our shared affection for Hostess Cupcakes.

Facebook made us acquaintance again, and when her third babe was born
I was invited to be a part of her life once again to capture the new addition to her family.

I wanted to sit down with them all and tell them everything that we did together as kids.
How much fun we had, and about all of the adventures.

I wanted to re-live it all once again...but life was moving quicker then I wanted.
Christine had a newborn to tend to,
and I had a daughter to get off the bus and kids to pick up at the sitter.
I left that day with things un-said...but not un-felt.

Perhaps the only gift that lasts a lifetime are memories.
I'm so very thankful for a gift that keeps on giving.

My favorite part of photographing children is when they are in their element.
Their expression and body language show such contentment.

Sighhhhh....

Slightly soft in focus, but the content is certainly there so I had to include it!

6 days young...

Change happens everyday. It's inevitable, whether we decide to greet it or not.

So much has changed...but the memories still remain...the same.

Sisters

There is something a bit magical about siblings. There is this undeniable bond.

At times it's a love/hate relationship.

The same person you want to hug with all your might, you want to strangle in the next breath.

Oh yes. There is arguing...there is ~~stealing~~ borrowing clothes.

There is sibling rivalry and there is this connection that no one can ever really duplicate

unless you shared a home...and a childhood together.

There is this shared life between you.

A memory that is made all the better because you had a best friend to share it with then...

and even more so...now.

In the words of Marion Garretty,

"A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost."

What is it about dandelions that make you feel like a kid again?

I can't wait for the day that I can get all of my own kids to look at the camera at the same time.

These girls sure made it hard for their Mama to pick out her favorites.

I can just picture this image tucked into the side of a vanity mirror when they girls are older, out in the big old world (away at college), or living on their own.

This was actually the last frame of the day, as we were heading back to our cars.

While the picture is less than perfect, I love the individuality of a profile.

It something as a Mother we know by heart.

There was a park at the far corner of where we had our session. Sooo we ran over for a few shots.

Gianna's Communion Session

Double Trouble - One Year Old Session

Ohhh dear blog, how I have been neglecting you!

It's been a little crazy dealing with the busy spring season, the two blogs and

everything that goes on behind the scenes. Transitions are always a little nutty.

The DEBUT!!

I'm soooo very thrilled to announce a project that I have been working on for a little over a year now.

You know those ideas that have you sit straight up in bed at 4am?

It started out as a little seed, and it's wonderful to finally see it come to fruition.

I love blogging. I love the conversations that I have with my clients because of it.

I think it's a place for you to see what goes on behind closed doors.

It's a place where I can share news, sneak-peeks, and a bit about my life.

I hope it also gives you a peek into the lives of my clients, and maybe the importance of a photograph.

I decided I wanted a place for mom's to go to read about kid

stuff and I wanted a place for brides to go to read about wedding stuff.

So what's a girl to do?

Simple.

Create a place for each.

Show and Tell will now be only for my portrait clients (newborns, toddlers, kids and family)

and 'Dear Stacey' will now be it's sister company, specializing in weddings.

What does this mean for all of my Show and Tell couples?

Everything is the same, only the name and the website have changed.

That's about it!

It's been a year in the making.

There was a ton of sleepless nights and a bunch of time spent with fabulous blog,

web, and graphic designers to bring the vision all together.

Their home was charming, cozy and had character... just like them.

Right Place, Right Time - Reneé + Michael - The Inn at New Hyde Park

It's the way they look at each other that makes you hold your breath a little.

I tried to imagine what it must have been like when he was her boss.

Were there flirty glances?

Maybe they day dreamed a bit about each other?

Or did it really all just happen after they met up again when they no longer worked together?!

Is there such thing as the "right place and the right time?"

I think so.

And that's just how their wedding felt.

Everything just felt right.

Beyond their love, beyond their amazing family and fabulous friends...the day was perfect.

The weather hovered at an usual 72 degrees for March,

and the smell of spring was in the air with the first signs of the trees budding.

The venue was nothing short of amazing.

It was dripping with sophistication and elegance, and the light was fabulous; inside and out.

It was the perfect fit and location for their happy day.

The first time we met, we sat feet from one another at a local Starbucks.

My mind raced with questions I usually can't help but ask.

And not because I want to make small talk, but because

I just really want to know how they got from there to here.

What were the signs?

Was it love at first sight?

Where did it all begin?

What makes them tick?

Love is unique. It's different for everyone.

I want to know how my couples love.

Is it loud and fun, soft and kind, sweet and compassionate?

Knowing their history (for me) is the magical element that I hope makes you feel what

I see when I document their day.

Their story helps me feel more than what I see.

It makes an image not just an image anymore, but a beautiful tale.

They recalled when they first met with large grins that reached their eyes.

They watched each other intently when they took turns telling their story.

By the time they had finished I felt as if I had just ended a great book.

But lucky for me...it was really just the beginning.

They are content. Happy. And in love.

The right place and the right time just now happens to be...the rest of their lives.

Reneé and Michael planned to do a 'first look'.

For those of you who have never heard of this,

it's when the bride and groom have a private moment together for the big reveal (before the ceremony).

This option frees up their timeline a bit so the pictures are more relaxed,

and they can enjoy their cocktail hour fully with their family and friends.

It's also a great idea if the couple will be getting married closer to dusk,

because it enables them to capture some fabulous golden light that everyone looks so magical in.

It's a tough job...

but someone's gotta do it.

The ceremony couldn't have been more perfect.

It was the right amount of tears of joy and laughter.

Sometimes, beyond the emotion that is up front and center in an image - there lies another layer.

Michael's Mom is seen here (below) in the background brushing away a happy tear.

I'll end on this happy 'note'...

As always, my top five moments...

My favorite moment of the day would have to be during their vows.
I went from laughing out loud, to full on tears within seconds of each other.
It was such a beautiful and emotional ceremony.

Unique: I thought the grapes that were added to the centerpieces were fabulous!

Coolest: The cocktail hour! It had the look and feel of being somewhere completely different.
From the tin roof ceiling, to the waterfall behind the bar...and the furniture
that was so cleverly used as food stations.

Funniest: I got a giggle out of the somersault entrance from Mike's brother.

Sentimental: Maybe it's because photographs are my thing,
but I loved the framed photographed images that they had on display.
They were wedding portraits of different generations of their family.
For me it was like being able to see a moment come full circle.

Ohhh...Reneé and Mike, where do I begin?!
I adored everything about your day and the both of you. Your day was nothing short of perfect.

How the time is flying.

So much has been going on behind the scenes here, that I had to put blogging on hold.

I'm gearing up for some BIG changes here, that I can't wait to share.

I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, so it shouldn't be long before the reveal!

Mike + Renee - Engagement Session

Language of Love - A 1st Birthday

Dan (my hubs): Why were you fighting with your brother?

Me: We weren't fighting.

Dan: You were arguing...

Me: No we weren't (with a scoff).

Dan: I heard you both on the other side of the house.

When I got home I called my brother.

Me: Hey Mike?

Mike: Yooo

Me: Were we arguing today?

Mike: Who was?

Me: Me and you!

Mike: I thought we were having a good time?

You see, so did I.
It was our way.
We weren't arguing, we were 'talking' loud.
And maybe even with a hint of sarcasm and a cuss word thrown in for good measure.
We talk with enthusiasm.

Every family has their own secret code.
Years of living in the confines of our homes we have found
ways to communicate beyond words, beyond looks...beyond having to explain what we meant.
Our tone, and the actions, all speak volumes...maybe not to others...but to us.

And beyond a pretty outfit, a cute prop...or a fabulous location for a session - is real life.
The everyday monotony that we are so use to...that we sometimes miss the importance
of just how special it really all is.

When I think back to my childhood, I think about the people who were around me,
the traditions, the smells, and perhaps even the awkward picture that hung on the
wall that made me question if my parents were ever cool.
Everyone's history is in those moments.

When I walked into their house, it was cozy and lively.
The party not only centered around Gianfranco's first birthday, but also around family.

The prosciutto was wrapped around sesame sticks and olives were placed in cute little dishes.

They talked with their hands when words couldn't get their point across,
and pinched tushies as a sign of affection.

There were more kids there than I could count and you couldn't help but feel all of the love in the room.
This was Gianfranco's history. His world. His family and friends - that will all add in
some way to the man he will be one day.
I can think of no better way to bring in your first birthday.

Real life...

He took off looking for a bottle...

or beer...

I love the eye contact he had with me.

My favorite! Look at those lush eyelashes. Gahhh!

Chris + Danielle - Vineyard Caterers Winter Wedding

It was a last minute decision. A gut feeling.

You see, I had taken the month of January off to just relax, recharge and rejuvenate.
But what began with 'tell me more' - turned into me saying 'yes' to photographing their big day.

I asked her one question knowing that her answer would decide the fate of whether or not my month off would be postponed:

'If it snows would you be game to play in it?'

When they told me they were actually hoping for some snow and bought boots in preparation,

I knew without a doubt they were my kind of couple!

To tell you the truth, it actually

wasn't really about the snow - it was about living in the moment, and they totally got that.

While the venue, dress and other fabulous details add to the day,
they are only a fraction of the whole experience.
It doesn't really matter if it rains or snows....just whether you are willing to dance during it.
How often does the day come again?!
Live it...fully!

And that they did.
They smiled ear to ear the entire time.

Okay, before I get started, I must say a huge shout out to 'Flowers by Rosemarie' in Sayville.

Her work is by far my verrrry favorite. Just super creative, really fun and different.

I mean pine cones, honey combs, wheat grass, and feathers - love.

The church was the same church Danielle's folks got married in.
The priest was the same priest that baptized her when she was a babe.

We had five minutes.

Even though it was bitter cold, they totally humored me.

The wedding reception was held at the lovely Vineyard Caterers out east.

It would have been a sin not to get one or two shots outdoors.

The next few were taken from the balcony of their bridal suite.

We made it down to the grounds.
By this time the sun was setting and it was beyond freeeeezing!

Coolest: I'm going to go with the bridesmaid gifts. Loved the cozy boots! Okay, I can't stop myself. Here's another. RAINBOW cake!!! No joke.
All I kept hearing from the guests was that it was the best cake they ever had.

Sentimental: Oooh. There were a few. I think it was beautiful that they got married in the same church Danielle's parents wed in. I loved that the church had such history and that the same priest has been there for the last thirty years. When so many things change so fast these days..it got me a little choked up to hear that some things remain the same.
It goes without saying: her Grandma's lace that was added to her veil was great too!

Unique: I adored the rustic vibe of the flowers and all of the fun
elements like the honeycomb and wheat grass.

Funniest: There were a few funny moments, but what made them even better was hearing Chris laugh about them. He has one of the best laughs - hands down. You can't help but smile hearing it. And he is always laughing...which made tons of smiles for everyone that day.

Chris and Danielle, I loved working with you both. You and your families were so gracious and generous that I almost felt like I was with family. Thank you for braving the frigid tempertures with me and not complaining once. Your happiness and enthusiasm was contagious.
It was such an honor to be a part of your happy day.

Hope you have warmed up basking in the Island sun!

Apple, Starbucks and an Adventure - Charlie + Valerie

We were 3,000 miles away on different coasts when we first spoke.

We talked about love, their upcoming wedding day and everything in between.

Life is funny that way. Sometimes a stranger can feel like a long lost friend.

That's how I felt with Valerie. I liked her from our very first e-mail.
I'm pretty sure, though, that's how everyone must feel when they meet Valerie.
She has this fabulous enthusiasm and charm that just pulls you right in.

They met at Starbucks.

Valerie told me that when she first saw Charlie there, he was intently
reading a book (about computers) and she was intrigued.
Fast forward a few years later,
they're now engaged and his career with Apple led them both venturing
out to the west coast together.

***

I love new beginnings. Any kind of new start really.
Whether it's a new career, a new town or a new relationship.
They are the moments of possibility.
Where dreams sort of exist in reality. The fear of the unknown dares us to come out of hiding.
We would never know the other side unless we took a step in that direction.
It can be uncomfortable. It can be scary. Or you can make it an adventure worth having.
It's all in the way we look at it.
Valerie and Charlie look at life that way I think...and each other.
Love is perhaps the biggest and greatest adventure of all.
It reveals it's story one moment at a time and who better to share that with than your best friend.

Here's to a life of adventure and all the possibilities it brings to you both!

I liked that.

I will be photographing their Long Island wedding at the charming 'Three Village Inn'.

Speaking of charm, how about a little rustic charm...

As the light was fading they did a quick outfit change to get a cozy look in.

"Cozy".

I love everything that that word conjures up.

The Book of Love - Chris + Danielle - Long Island Engagement

She is a librarian.
Have you ever heard of anything so cute?!

Just when I thought the world of books had met their fate with the Nooks, Kindles and Ipads -
there was Danielle who still uses the Dewy system. I literally sighed in relief.

It's the classic case of boy meets girl.

Their beautiful beginning began among rows of books at a library where they both work.

It took him almost a year to work up his nerve to even talk to her.

I think The Monotones asked the most perplexing question ever:
'Who wrote the book of love?'

While we all may search for the answers,
we are actually in charge of our own fate with each turn of a page.
We are the authors of our story.

Each new chapter that we write can be savored or dwelled upon.
We have a choice.

While we are all busy looking for that happy ending -- the pages in between are being written.

And it's those pages, those moments, those every day minuet minutes that are what life is made up of.

We all have a story to tell. And maybe that's why I love pictures so much. They help tell our story.

They help us reference our lives. The story may be our own, but the best ones are shared with others.
That's why I do this blog.
In a world that is filled with heart wrenching news, it's nice to hear of happiness.

People who found love and couples that make each other happy.

'Peace, love and joy' should be celebrated throughout our lives, not just on special occasions.
Love should be lived, not just felt.

Every story has three parts: a beginning, a middle, and an end.
And although this is how all stories unfold, I'm pretty sure Danielle and Christopher's will go on forever.

Being wrapped up in a story is one of my favorite things to do.
It's the main reason why I love my job.
I get to see, hear and feel the stories that are behind every single image.

What kind of December session would this be without a Christmas tree?! So I snuck one in.

It was awesome seeing where it all started for you both, and where your story continues to still be written.

High School Sweethearts - Jessica + Jonathan

Do you remember your first crush? First love?

First, can't sleep at night 'cause you can't stop thinking about them?

We all have one.

Do you remember what it felt like?

It's that giddy, light headed feeling.

It's the feeling that you can't stop smiling ear to ear.

There are butterflies in your stomach, a twinkle in your eye and permanent blush on your cheeks.
Now just imagine the chance to be married to your first love.
Pretty dang sweet if you ask me.

First love.

As amazing and as memorable as it is -
most of the time when we grow up we move on because things change.

We change.

Along with our thoughts, our feelings, and sometimes our love.

But, for some of the lucky few, it stays the same.

Some get to grow old together.

Meet Jessica and Jonathan.

High school sweethearts...that never really ever got a chance to become an 'old flame'.

Instead their flame seems to just get brighter - especially with the news of their upcoming wedding.

They still have that twinkle in their eyes and the giddy smiles that love can't keep at bay.

I just love how their cheeks fit together. Like a puzzle...

All they did was smile at each other.

Not just smiling...happy smiling.

Justin + Justine - Long Island Wedding at Jericho Terrace

Sometimes, pictures tell a thousand words right? I'm actually banking on that today.

Instead of spending the time to write the blog post, I wanted to spend the time including a few more images.

It's been a busy season and I have much to do before the holiday,

but I wanted to stop in real quick to give you all a little sneaky peek of J+J's happy day!

Since the ceremony started at 7:30 we didn't have the luxury of light so we went
for the moody, romantic stuff.

I stole the couple for a few minutes to capture the following few...

Favorite Moment: I'm not going to pin point a moment here.
I'm just going to say that it was the fact that they partied. They enjoyed every moment.

They had fun with the day and they truly collaborated together on it.

Coolest: The entrance. They were announced like heavy weight fighters. And instead of the arch the bridal party normally goes under - they all met on the dance floor to celebrate the beginning of the evening with a shot toast. Nothing like setting the night off right.

Sentimental: Justin made a memory book for Justine that was given to her while she was prepping. Aww.

Unique: The wax seals. I adored them. Such an elegant, unique...time consuming touch!

Funniest: When Justine's Dad started talking about when he was in bed with her mother.
It had that awkward moment for a second, but he set us up.
He was telling the story of the night Justine was born...um not made. lol

Anna + Frank - Long Island Engagement Session

"What is one thing I love about Anna?"

He repeated it back to me like he needed extra time to think.

It wasn't though that it was hard for him to think about one thing he loved,

it was hard for him to narrow it down to just one.
I ummmm think ; )

After a slight pause, he said it was her laughter.
How once she starts, it would be a good ten minutes before she stops.

Her ability to laugh so easily and his ability to really enjoy it is what I love most about them.

They were silly, they were sweet, and they were fun.
They also flew in from Colorado for their e-session...
okay not just for their e-session but it sounded good, no? ; )
They came down to spend the best day of the year, Thanksgiving, celebrating
with family and friends as well as tying up loose ends for their wedding.

Anna and Frank are a little special.
So, I'm going to nix the 'small' (haha - when are my blog posts ever 'small')
talk and dive right into it 'cause this is a bigger 'sneak peek' than usual.

You see...Anna is one of my sister's BFF's.

I knew her back when 90's music was cool.

While this should make me feel old - seeing Anna with her love, Frank, makes me feel young at heart.

'I hope you dance...'

and live life with all heart...

They're in love.

The Kitchen Table - Domenic + Shannon

The kitchen table.

That was her answer.

And no, I wasn't asking questions 'Newlywed Game' style! ; )

The question was, 'Where is your favorite place?'

She went on to say that it was a place of 'communication whether serious or comical.'

It had to be hands down my favorite answer.

The kitchen is the hub in most homes. It's where we come together, to talk, to laugh, to cry...to eat, drink and be merry. There is no other room in a home quite like it. Or any place for that matter.

Did you notice how I didn't mention cook...that wasn't an over sight on my part! ; )

With the TV, computers and our phones it's hard for any of us to sit still these days.

But a kitchen table you see forces us to do just that.

While sipping our hot coffee, tea or wine we are focusing on none other then the

person across from us and the words between us.

And it's the words between us that will actually bring us closer together.

It's a place to debate, to discuss, to make jokes, and to tease.

Without the outside world stealing out attention words 'weigh' more.

We don't just hear them, we almost feel them because we are able to take into consideration other things.
The tone of each syllable and the body language that accompanies every word.
The smiles that reach the eyes, and the lingering glances studying each others faces.

Domenic and Shannon I love that one of your favorite places is the kitchen table.
It's a small sentiment to who you are and what you are like when you are together.
Thank you for letting me capture a little glimpse into your world...

Thankful - A Follow Up If You Were Following

I'm thankful to be able to do what I love to do.

I thought that this would be no more than a glorified hobby,
and it has not only become my career of some sort, but a huge part of my life.

I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with the most wonderful clients ever.

Each client who is actually now a friend.

I still get excited when I get an e-mail from my web-site about a prospect/client.
It's my first peek into their world. Sometimes they tell me a little about themselves;
sometimes they even talk about some of you -
and what they have read and have seen here from what I post.

Opening those e-mails is like opening up an unexpected gift. It never get's old for me.

The day that I opened one up from some random person about the whole grammar thing -
it was the last thing I expected. It caught me completely off guard.
I felt like the girl with her skirt stuck in her stockings, who is showing off her rear to the world.
As if that wasn't bad enough -
getting a letter sent home about it...after spending the day out and about. Oy vey!

As mortified, humiliated and sad as I was - believe it or not I was thankful.

'Cause really...you want to know when you have spinach in your teeth, right?

I kinda felt that way a little.

I also thought - 'wow...85% of my clients are teachers,

and if he is saying something about my grammar...what are they seeing and not saying?!'

I tried to ignore it, but I couldn't. I wanted to address it, but I didn't want to come off as a whiner
or sound bitter over the whole thing. I agonized over it and then came to the conclusion
that some people will accept it and some might become more aware of my weakness.
It is what it is.

I wasn't really expecting a response. I was just really posting a 'disclosure.'
But the notes that flooded my e-mail, this blog and my FB wall were some
of the most touching things I have ever read.

All I can say is thank you.

From my toes to my nose, I'm filled with gratitude for what you all have given me:
the wonderful comments, the heartfelt words. The passion. The sincerity.

Each and every one of you that took the time out of your day to write to me -

words fall short of what it meant to me.

I have much to be thankful for this year as I do every day.

This little business has gone in a direction that I never expected or saw coming.

I wouldn't be here today without the help of the most wonderful people ever.

My family, who puts up with my crazy schedule,
late nights and cereal on the table some nights instead of a hot meal;
my husband who has gotten me through this hectic season by helping out with the kids
and taking off from work to balance the craziness;
my sister for all the little things that add up to be huge;

my graphic designer who is sooo patient with me, and not only comes up

with fabulous unique designs, but is also at times my therapist.
Not that I really need one ; )

Full Circle - Mindy, Shawn and Marc

The boxes were filled to the brim in neat stacks all around the perimeter of their apartment.

They were in the process of purchasing a new home, and pretty soon they

would be leaving their old place behind.

Their old place that was a treasure trove of fond memories for them...and for me.

You see it was where I photographed Mindy getting ready in her wedding gown and where we peeked out the living room window to spy on her soon to be husband outside adjusting his tie.

It's where we sat watching their wedding slideshow huddled shoulder to shoulder

together on my computer at their dining table.

And it was where I met their new son for the first time and did his newborn session.

It's also a place that they will soon be telling Marc they once had all lived when he was little.

We strolled along the paths around the pond at their complex,
and I thought back to when I first met them.

It was a couple of years back when we sat in a little coffee shop planning their engagement session.
It was hard to believe that now we were running after their happy little one year old.

For me it was more then a session, it was a moment that came full circle.

Full circle is a concept that we have all heard before.
To most it means merely coming back to where it all began.

For me it means being complete. Undivided. Whole.

Life moves on. Things change. We live and we grow.
Life may change around us - but sorta like the saying 'no matter where we go - there we are.'
I like to think that's cause we take moments and memories with us.

Each circle has a beginning, but really no end.

Seneca said it best, 'Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.'

Seeing where it began for you both and how far you have come - was like reading a book with a fabulous ending and finding out there was a sequel.

What a difference a year makes, eh?

I brought along the same Christmas stocking to see how much he grew.

Marc was just as surprised as I was!

Hands down - one of the best kids I have ever ~~worked~~ played with.

He seriously smiled the entire time.

Except for this shot. ; )

A little reminiscent of 'Home Alone' I think.

My most favorite family images are those that are some what casual and in the moment.

In between a laugh, a tight squeeze or sometimes mid-sentence.

There are no words really to express what it's like to see a client living their happiest moments and watching the unmistakable looks of joy while documenting their lives.
There is nothing that makes me quite so happy as being there to experience that moment with them.

You know when you hear someone get the case of the giggles and you can't help but smile?
You know the smile. That big dopey, cheesy grin that just overtakes your whole face
and you feel giddy inside?!

That's how I feel when I'm with my clients.
That is what you give to me Mindy and Shawn (and now Marc) every time I see you.

Thank you for having trust and faith and for continuing to share your milestones with me.

Spelling, Grammar and Moments

Recently, it was brought to my attention that - to put it frankly - my grammar sucks.

This character weakness is well known. I don't exactly hide it here.

It's something I pretty much knew, but I guess not to the point that I recently heard about it. It was the type of thing where upon hearing it, I wanted to crawl into bed and pull the blankets over my head for being so terribly embarrassed.

I actually for a moment thought of not writing here anymore.

Just like all things domestic - there are some things I'm good at, and others...not so much.

I'll let you guess which way the domestic thing rolls for me.

I first want to apologize for my crazy slang, half sentences or run on sentences. I'm far from being proper.

I may write 'here' instead of 'hear' or 'there' instead of 'their'.

I may have a comma or an apostrophe out of place too.

I do know better.

But you see, sometimes I forget I'm writing to all of you.

When I write, it's as if I'm writing in a journal for myself.

The words pour out quicker than I can type them.

I'm not thinking grammatically; I'm thinking of just putting the point down on paper to remind myself of a moment or of a thought before giving in to my drooping eyelids.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't believe me if I told you I actually do proof read what I write. But those 3am late nights are tough. I'm tapping away at the keyboard after putting in a full day and sometimes there is not much else left for my brain to give at that point. Especially going on three hours of sleep from the night before.

It's a poor excuse, but it's my reality right now.

While I would hate for you to think of me any less professional or educated than I am -

I would rather you walk away thinking I'm real.

I make mistakes. I think out loud. I write personally, not professionally.

I'm not perfect and I hope you still like me that way.

And maybe that's not the best approach.

And maybe I shouldn't be starting my sentences with 'and' or 'but' or 'because'. But sometimes I do.

I may write that way because of how it's forming in my head or maybe just for effect...or is it affect?! ; )

And that's okay. Because this here is my world.

Some of you may be completely turned off by it and I completely get it.

Some of you may see it as quirky and partially acceptable and not judge me by it.

For those of you in the latter group, I love you for it.

I promise to try harder to watch the grammar or spelling errors but don't hold me too it.

'Cause even though I promise to work harder on getting the house together...

we all know how that sometimes goes. ; )

On a side note, it was also mentioned that this blog does not give off a

'good first impression' because of everything mentioned above.

And this is what broke my heart a little.

This blog is really not to impress anyone.

It's to document life. It's a peek into moments that would otherwise go by unnoticed.

Sometimes we all get caught up in perfection. I'm no stranger to that.

Sometimes though life is not about the perfect picture or the perfect blog post -

it's about seeing the perfect moment.
