I was with his wife when he called as she fed
Breakfast to their children. I held her up as she
Tried to understand his words and as she realized
He wasn 't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a
Woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been
Knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said.
'Of course I will show you the way home - only
Believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest
Ministering to the injured and devastated souls.
I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He
Heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat,
With every prayer. I was with the crew as they
Were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the
Believers there, comforting and assuring them that their
Faith has saved them.

I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan ,

Afghanistan

..
I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.
Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew
Every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me
For the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath.
Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the
Smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... This way... Take
My hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.
But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You
May not know why, but I do. However, if you were
There in that explosive moment in time, would you have
Reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey
For you. But someday your journey will end. And I
Will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may
Be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are
'ready to go.'

Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital! This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,

so ... Love the people who treat you right,

Pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

HTC Incredible

I got a HTC Incredible about a month ago. Right away some of the issues that I had with the Droid are taken care of. In case you don't remember here are some of problems I posted about;

Droid didn't copy and past from email.

The Incredible has two mail clients. One of them is called "Gmail" and I think it comes with the android os. The other one is simply "Mail" and it supports a long press to zoom and copy. It takes a bit to get used to, but it works.

I didn't like the swipe to answer.

The Incredible brings up two buttons which you tap. This can be done with one hand if you are careful.

I wasn't impressed with the battery life.

Unfortunately the Incredible doesn't help much with this. It seems a little worse.

I thought that the battery cover came off way too easily.

The Incredible battery cover is much harder to get off. The first time I did it I had to look at the instructions again to make sure I wasn't breaking the phone.

So, it looks like HTC read my blog. I'm flattered, but I can't take credit for all of it. They came up with some other improvement like:

Flash. No not the comic book kind. Flash video. Try that on your iphone.
Multiple home screens. I think this is also part of the Nexus one, but it's an improvement over the Droid.
The nifty clock thing. OK I know it's an app, but I kind of like it. When you first open the phone it plays an animation to represent the current weather.
The camera is an 8 megapixel which is nice.

If you are still reading my blog, HTC, I like what you are doing. Here are the things that I would improve.

I would make the dual camera set up with the forward facing camera like you have on the EVO standard.
I would look at increasing the battery size. I've seen the battery and I believe that doubling the size would be worth it for me if it doubled the the time.

I've felt the heat coming off the phone when it's running the gps so I realize that this may be more of a heat

As long as I'm looking at stuff I would look into solar paint. If it's sturdy enough I could imagine painting this stuff on the outside of the phone and/or the outside of a belt clip phone case to charge the phone all the time.

If you are in the market for a phone you have to consider coverage area (not to mention price). If Sprint's coverage area is suitable for your needs I would go with the EVO (which looks like the Incredible with a front facing camera). Otherwise I would go with the Incredible over the Droid.

In my meeting with President Obama yesterday, I personally invited him to visit Arizona and see our open borders for himself. Only then might he understand that border security is the mandatory first step in any real effort to battle illegal immigration.

Unfortunately, the President declined to commit to a personal visit.

He also declined my request to increase the National Guard commitment, did not commit to build and extend the fence, and refused to pay the federal obligations for incarceration expenses - over $750 million just since 2003.

While the meeting was cordial and respectful, and I appreciate the opportunity to share the deep concerns of our citizens, a continued lack of action is devastating to Arizona. Washington’s continued reluctance to secure our border - with no political strings attached - only suggests the possibility of further violence, failures and delay. No more political two-steps! Now is the time to simply and honestly secure our international border.

It is my hope that the President has a change of heart and takes the time to personally meet in Arizona with our hard-working border enforcement agents, local law enforcement, border-region ranchers, and others who are confronted daily with Arizona’s border crisis and see for himself their problems and their justifiable fears. Until operational control of the border by the federal government is achieved, Arizonans and indeed our nation remain at risk.

Following our meeting today, I’m encouraged that there may be a new and more open willingness for direct dialogue between the federal government and Arizona. However, as I have said before, illegal immigration will not be solved by the promises that have been made, but rather, by the tangible results on the ground.

The President should see for himself how a lack of enforcement has turned Arizona into the superhighway of illegal drug and human smuggling activity. My invitation to come to Arizona remains open.

Islam is not a religion, nor is it a cult. In its fullest form, it is a complete, total, 100% system of life.

Islam has religious, legal, political, economic, social, and military components. The religious component is a beard for all of the other components.

Islamization begins when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their religious privileges.

When politically correct, tolerant, and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their religious privileges, some of the other components tend to creep in as well..

Here's how it works:

As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:

United States -- Muslim 0..6%
Australia -- Muslim 1.5%
Canada -- Muslim 1.9%
China -- Muslim 1.8%
Italy -- Muslim 1.5%
Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs.
This is happening in:

Denmark -- Muslim 2%
Germany -- Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%
Spain -- Muslim 4%
Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for
Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. This is occurring in:

France -- Muslim 8%
Philippines -- 5%
Sweden -- Muslim 5%
Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam , with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections, in:
Guyana -- Muslim 10%
India -- Muslim 13.4%
Israel -- Muslim 16%
Kenya -- Muslim 10%
Russia -- Muslim 15%

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:

Bosnia

Chad

Somalia -- Muslim 100%
Yemen -- Muslim 100%

Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons.

It is important to understand that in some countries, with well under 100% Muslim populations, such as France, the minority Muslim populations live in ghettos, within which they are 100% Muslim, and within which they live by Sharia Law. The national police do not even enter these ghettos. There are no national courts, nor schools, nor non-Muslim religious facilities. In such situations, Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. The children attend madrasses. They learn only the Koran. To even associate with an infidel is a crime punishable with death. Therefore, in some areas of certain nations, Muslim Imams and extremists exercise more power than the national average would indicate.

Today's 1.5 billion Muslims make up 22% of the world's population. But their birth rates dwarf the birth rates of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, and all other believers. Muslims will exceed 50% of the world's population by the end of this century.

On one hand this brings to mind all the sci-fi movies ever made and adds about two levels of creepy. If I understand this right they built the DNA for this from scratch. Sure its a copy of existing DNA, but how long till they start experimenting? It just sounds scary.

On the other hand, this might not be so bad. As scary as it sounds the article mentions other experiments that are going on. Also, note how they are calling a dividing cell life and naming the species. That makes it hard to turn around and call a newly conceived human anything but a living human.

I was going to set up a separate blog for interesting/funny stuff that shows up in my inbox. Instead I decided to just create a label for it on this one. I have removed the email addresses of those forwarding to protect them from spam. Otherwise, I'm leaving it pretty much untouched.

Why I fired my Secretary.
Last week was my birthday and I didn't feel very well waking up on that
morning . . .
I went downstairs for breakfast
hoping my wife would be pleasant and say,
'Happy Birthday!',
and possibly have a small present for me.
As it turned out,
she barely said good morning,
let alone
' Happy Birthday.'
I thought....
Well, that's marriage for you,
but the kids...
They will remember.
My kids came bounding down stairs to breakfast
and didn't say a word..
So when I left for the office,
I felt pretty low
and somewhat despondent.
As I walked into my office,
my secretary Jane said,
'Good Morning Boss,
and by the way
Happy Birthday ! '
It felt a little better
that at least someone had remembered.
I worked until one o'clock ,
when Jane knocked on my door
and said, 'You know,
It's such a beautiful day outside,
and it is your Birthday,
what do you say we go out to lunch,
just you and me..'
I said, 'Thanks, Jane,
that's the greatest thing
I've heard all day.
Let's go !'
We went to lunch.
But we didn't go
where we normally would go.
She chose instead at a quiet bistro
with a private table.
We had two martinis each
and I enjoyed the meal tremendously.
On the way back to the office,
Jane said, 'You know,
It's such a beautiful day...
We don't need to go straight back to the office,
Do We ?'
I responded,
'I guess not.
What do you have in mind ?'
She said,
'Let's drop by my apartment,
it's just around the corner.'
After arriving at her apartment,
Jane turned to me and said,
' Boss, if you don't mind,
I'm going to step into the bedroom
for just a moment.
I'll be right back.'
'Ok.' I nervously replied.
She went into the bedroom and,
after a couple of minutes,
she came out
carrying a huge birthday cake ...
Followed
by my wife,
my kids,
and dozens of my friends
and co-workers,
all singing 'Happy Birthday'.

And I just sat there....
On the couch...
Naked.

I was packing for my business trip and my three year old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point she said,"Daddy, look at this" , and stuck out two of her fingers.

Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and said, "Daddy's gonna eat your fingers," pretending to eat them.

I went back to packing, looked up again and my daughter was standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face.

I said, "What's wrong, honey?"

She replied,
"What happened to my booger?"

Jubilee

I mentioned before that I was reading the Bible with my wife. The current economic problems have brought to mind the part about the year of Jubilee. In case you are unfamiliar with it the Biblical year of jubilee it worked out that every 49 years or so everyone's debts were forgiven. Now, this was well published so all the lenders would figure up the years left till jubilee for any loans they would give. I wondered out loud how that would look in today's world. The first thing my wife said is that it would destroy the economy.

I agree. It would destroy the economy. It would do so reliably every 49 years. On a schedule. One that you could plan on. In an organized fashion which in my mind beats what we are looking at now.

The economy seems to be following something called a Kondratiev wave. I find it really interesting that these waves follow roughly the same time period as the years of jubilee.

This is something that would be simple to write into law, but nearly impossible to follow through on. Politicians in office when jubilee approached would have levels of resolve not normally found in democratic societies.

Mother's day

As a parent now I appreciate the difficulties I must have caused a lot more. Here are some examples of the things that my mother had to deal with.

As a child I didn't know why I needed to make my bed. I figured I would just mess it up again in a few hours.
Similarly, I didn't understand the importance of dressing up for pictures. I figured that the reason for taking a picture was so that you could remember what I was like. Since I didn't dress up normally it followed that you wouldn't want me dressed up for the picture.
I was an under achiever. I felt that passing was passing. A "D" got me through just as well as an "A".
I thought homework was redundant.
I always wanted to know why.

This is just a small example. As you can imagine there was more, a whole frustrating lot more. Thanks mom for putting up with me!
