Snow storm Blog Hop - Boston MA

Wednesday
So I was on an online chat group this morning talking to Stampin' UP! Demos around the country. My discussion started with Sandy Moriarty who lives in Slanesville, West Virginia. Sandy was in the middle of the snow storm that is traveling across the middle of the country toward the coast. Then Carol Smith joined the discussion from Schellsburg, PA which is not too far from West Virginia. It was also snowing very heavy there. They estimated that they had about 8 inches at about 10:30 in the morning.

Amanda Frankel joined in the conversation from Burr Ridge, IL. They have quite a bit of snow as the Chicago area usually does. I think they got their snow Tuesday. Liz Hamman joined in and it was also snowing there in Winchester, VA (northern VA not too far from West VA).

Last but not least is Robbie Rubala who lived in Maryland. It was just raining there in the morming when we were talking.

So we were discussing the storm and its travels across the mid-west to the east coast. We thought that it would be really fun to do a blog hop of the snow storm and how much each area has received.

So today, Wednesday, it has been raining and sleeting on and off all day. The temperature has been hovering around 34. The snow is supposed to start around 7am Thursday morning and the prediction is that we will have 4" to 8". I live 25 miles north of Boston, MA in Tewksbury, MA., just south of Nashua, NH. So we are usually on the higher side of the estimates as we are not near the water. They are predicting that it will start snowing at 7am and snow through the day Friday.

Stay tuned to see how the storm falls!! I will post pictures first thing tomorrow morning and throughout the day Thursday and Friday morning. So it will most likely have stopped snowing for my friends in West VA, VA and PA.

Thursday - I will update pics during the day
8:30 Thursday
Good Morning!! It is 8:30 here and the snow hasn't really started yet. It is just spitting a little. Last night at 10:30 it was also snowing lightly as it is this morning. I think it is too warm for the snow to stick. So I took some before pics this morning....

I live in an old farmhouse so this is looking from the deck off the back of house next to our barn into our back yard... You can see the remnants of the last storm from 3 weeks ago. The drift along the side of our barn was over 2 feet high. The last storm was a foot of light snow and very strong winds. So there was a lot of drifting.

THis is a picture of our driveway and my car with just a light dusting. The snow along the side of our driveway is what is left from the last storm.

So the news is saying that the storm "has a strong hold" on the south side of Boston and is traveling our way!

I will add more pics throughout the day!

3:30pm Thursday
Well it has been snowing all day but not sticking. I think the temp has just dropped as now it is starting to stick.

Friday morning
Well - it has now been snowing all night and this is what it looked like at 8am this morning. We are in the heart of the storm now...

The first two pics are from 8am. We had 7 inches of snow and it is snowing about an inch an hour.

So we are supposed to have new kitchen appliances delivered

today. So I cleaned a path off on the back deck since that goes directly into the kitchen and is the widest door.

This is 45 min. later.. It is definitely snowing an inch an hour at this point.

This is what our driveway looks like less than an hour after we have cleaned it out.

A great day to clean out the craft room and work on the new blog format!!

5:00pm Friday

So the snow stopped around 4pm. So this is what it looked like cleaning up the second time on Friday...

The it was 46 here on Saturday so it is all melting now... But there is still a lot!

Technostamper Challenge

So I am going to start making Mary Jo's challenges at www.technostamper.com.
This week I used the Everybunny stamp set and the Floral Frame Framelits. The cardstock is so saffron, old olive and the Sunshine & Sprakles designer paper on a crumb cake base.

I stamped the bunny on whisper white card stock with Staz-on. Then I used the watercolor crayons with an aqua painter to color in the bunny. the Crayons are my favorite way to color in outline stamps!
I tinted a couple of rhinestone pearls with a pink sharpie and added those to the edge of the sentiment to catch the eye.

I cut the bunny and layers out using the Floral Frame Framelits. To outline the bunny, I cut a flower the same size as the bunny out of old olive. I cut the flower in half down the middle and layered it under the flower with the bunny to give it a little pop!

Everybunny is definitely my favorite Easter set!!

Easter Cards

Good Morning,

I hope that everyone is enjoying their vacation week. I have pre-scheduled this post and am actually in Cozumel today! I hope I am enjoying the sun! LOL

This is an upcoming card set that I have designed using the Everybunny stamp set from the big catalog and the new spring designer paper from the spring mini catalog.

Thinking of You Card

I just love this simple but elegant Thinking of You card that one of my friends Kathi MacFadden made on Wednesday.

I love melon mambo and pool party together! To me it just says spring or refreshing.

Kathi stamped the Just Thinking stamp in Melon Mambo on whisper white twice. She cut out the middle circle to raiser up the Thinking of you and give the card some dimension. She added a large rhinestone to the center of the image for just a little bling!! She cut the Thinking of YOu out using the Window Frames Framelits.

The designer paper is the Pool Party designer paper from the in-color stack. This is mounted on Whisper White and a Melon Mambo card base. She added a piece of melon mambo ribbon for another splash of pink.

I love this card!! Well done Kathi!

More Amore Cards - Technostamper challenge

Good Morning! I am sharing another Valentine today. This is one that I designed for Mary Jo's Sketch Challenge at www.technostamper.com

I have missed doing Mary Jo's weekly challenges, so I am going to get back into doing her challenges again. Sketch challenges are my favorite type of challenge.

Here is Mary Jo's sketch for this week.

I used my favorite shade of blue - Baja Breeze with very vanilla. I used a piece of the More Amore designer paper and the hearts embosslit to cut and emboss small hearts. I used my favorite embellishment, the pearl rhinestones.

Valentine's Ideas

The past couple of days, I have been in a Valentine's frame of mind... It is just a little under two weeks away!

What are you doing for your special Valentine?

I have designed a couple of Valentine's cards which I will showcase over the next couple of days.

Also, Friday night is my Bring Your own project night and I will have these Valentine's ready to go as well as the Valentine's made with the Artisan Embellishment kit.

I just love this romantic card made with the doily and laser cut heart from the More Amore designer paper collection.

I embossed a piece of vanilla card stock added 3 pieces of More Amore designer paper to fill in the center of the card.

I added a paper doily and then cut two heart using the Hearts a Flutter framelit. I then embossed the two hearts and added a heart cut from the red shimmer paper.

To finish off the card I addd a couple of hearts cut from the More Amore designer paper to the inside of the card.

Valentine's Cards & Kit

Well I challenged myself to make some cards with the Artisan Embellishment Kit on page 10 of the Spring catalog. I also used the More Amore designer paper and the Vintage Verses Sale-a-bration stamp set for words.

The colors for these cards are: crumb cake, pool party and primrose petals.

I am really loving the Artisan Embellishment kit and all of the little trinkets and ribbons that come with this kit! The kit is $9.95 and comes with:

2 designer tags
4 designer ticket stubs
18" of scalloped pink lace
18" of cotton lace
18" of wide oval lace
1 yard of seam binding
6 3D paper flowers

Secret Garden Sample

This is a swap card that I made for my recent visit to Orlando. I love the new Secret Garden stamp set!

This card uses the Secret Garden stamp set and matching Framelits from the new Spring catalog. I stamped the flower on vanilla card stock with midnight muse ink and embossed the outline of the flower with clear embossing powder.

I used an aqua painter and marina mist ink to watercolor the flower. The center of the flower is daffodil delight. I cut the center and layered it with a dimensional to make the flower pop. And of course there is a little bling in the center.

The card is made from So Saffron and vanilla card stock. The designer paper is the new Tea for Two designer paper. The leaves are stamped with gumball green.

This was my swap for the Sensational Swappers group at Leadership.. And afterwards we all went out for dinner at the Bahama Breeze in Orlando and celebrated our sister Jeannette Swain's birthday!

We had a great time on our trip!!

As promised here are a few more pictures from Leadership!! What a great time we all had! There were 3 other members of my team that went with me to Orlando.

Jeanne Nielsen, Margaret Galvez, and Laura Perez. We had such a good time!!

Jeanne and I were on the same flight and had a great time catching up! We had a two hour lay over in Atlanta and finished up our swaps!! What else would you do on a layover??

This is Margaret Galvez and me outside the convention center in Orlando. And yes it was unusually warm in Orlando - in the 80's each day. Not that we were outside much!

Since Stampin' Up! is celebrating their 25th Birthday, there were lots of give aways!!.

This is our friend Angela Carter - a demo from Southbridge, MA that we have all come to love!! Angela has her own special dance when they give away prizes! She is welcome in our group anytime!!

Friday night's presentation was a pajama party. After spending Friday at the convention center, we all went back to our room and changed into PJs... Jeanne won a gift from the prize patrol that night!!

I just want to say a huge thank you to my customers and my downline!! I earned the Manager's Reception this year for Leadership!! Even though I have been a Manager for a couple of years, I haven't been at Leadership to attend the Manager's Reception.

So this year the reception was at the Harry Potter theme park in Orlando!! The whole section of the park was closed to the public and open only for Stampin' Up! These were the invitations that were sent to us in the mail...

All I can say is the food was fantastic - typical Harry Potter food - trecal treats, caldron cups, lots of Butter Beer and pumpkin juice to drink.

It was a great night and I would highly recommend working to promote to Manager to any Demos that are out there!

So Stampin' Up! will be introducing a new product line in March. Monthly card kits that customers can subscribe to... I just love this idea!! It will definitely help us demos out since it will take away some of the design time that we all spend for card kits!! The new line will be called Paper Pumpkin!!

I will be bringing home a Paper Pumpkin kit to show everyone!!

Then tonight at the general session (a pajama party) after dinner, Jeanne won the Ciao Baby stamp set from spring mini with the petite punch!! Yay!!

Favorite Holiday cards

I hope that everyone had a great Holiday!! I just wanted to post a couple of my favorite Holiday cards. I can never design just one card...

This first one is my favorite card for this Holiday season. I used Baja Breeze ink with a brayer to create the soft blue background thanks to the class that I took from Michele Zindorf. The tree with cardinals is from the Serene Shillouette stamp set. I tore little pieces of white cardstock and layered them on the bottom to look like snow drifts. I then rubbed dazzling details to give it a glittery snowy look.

These cards use the Greetings of the Season stamp set from the Christmas catalog.

The second card is one that one of my downlines, Kathy Bedell designed. This is a beautiful 3x3 card using the small star punch from the ornaments set in the Christmas mini with the silver glimmer paper.

The third card is one that I designed and one of my long time Stampin' Friends, Kathi MacFadden embellished...

I used the Elegant Lines embossing folder and then used the ornament framelits to cut out ornament shapes. I put designer paper behind the cut out ornaments and added some rhinestones that I colored red with a permanent marker. Kathy added the flocked designer paper from the Candlelight series which I thought looked better than regular designer paper. This card looks great with a scrap of silver glimmer paper behind the flocked window sheet. The silver wire was from last year's Christmas catalog that I just happened to have laying around.

The fourth card is made with the Christmas Lodge set. The tree is stamped using artichoke ink and enhanced with pearls that I colored with a red permanent marker.

The designer paper is from the Festival of Prints designer paper pack that was in this year's Christmas catalog.

My last card was made with the Holiday Ornaments Famelits and Ornament Keepsakes stamp set. I used both whisper white and very vanilla cardstock for a subtle contrast. The ornaments are stamped using Midnight Muse ink and the cardstock is layered with midnight muse. I used the retired white satin ribbon for the bow. The ornaments are embellished with the pearl jewels.

I hope that you have enjoyed a sampling of the cards that I made this Christmas season!!

A little Silver & Gold

What could be better than some silver & gold?? I just love glitter papers!! So I thought that I would make some matching cards using the champaign and silver glitter paper. I used the Snow Swirled Stamp Set. I do love the Christmas Tree in that set.

My inspiration was a card that Mary Brown at Stamper Camper made in all silver.

The trees are stamped and embossed with silver and gold ink and embossing powder.

These are layered on a piece of very vanilla for the gold and whisper white for the silver.

I used the silver and gold pens to highlight the center of the flowers on the Petals a Plenty embossing folder. I then used rhinestones to enhance the trees.

I used retired white satin ribbon for the silver tree and vanilla for the gold tree.

Now to design some more things in silver and gold!!

So which bow do you like better? The one on the top or the one on the side?
