Pre-Fall Preparations

Although I just blogged about a few spring trends below, the runways have of course already debuted pre-fall and fall collections. It is hard for me to focus on fall when I am currently sitting in snow and looking forward to seeing sunlight again, but there comes a time when every blogger must put his/her own feelings aside and do what is best for his/her readers... Okay, that was dramatic, but I am about to blog about Yigal Azrouël's Pre-Fall collection and it is not because I am going crazy and don't realize what season it is, but it is because the fashion industry is always one step ahead! I don't blame the creative geniuses/corporations behind the masterpieces for doing everything early, but this is just a little warning to start getting your wardrobes ready for the wonderful fall creations!

Yigal Azrouël's Pre-Fall collection is one of my favorites of the mini-season! I love the mixing of light colors with heavy textures; the turtleneck with an organic skirt; the light blue capris paired with a fur jacket; the dark dress in a summer cut accessorized with a leopard clutch; and the tuxedo jackets that top off all of the looks! These outfits perfectly mix summer styles with fall and make for an easy transition into the cooler months. Leopard (an autumn print) worn with a bold cobalt jacket (a summer color) - perfection.

Carolina Herrera just gets it. She knows what women want when it comes to clothes. Her designs fit female bodies, are elegant and sophisticated but with a playful element, and can be worn in the office, at home, to a luncheon or formal event, to school events... the list goes on and on. They serve many purposes but always shine with a dignified and classy air. Her spring collection was no different. I love the tropical prints and loosely structured dresses - they are reminiscent of the 50s but still look modern. And look at Herrera herself - so fabulous!

Untitled Inspiration

Christian Dior has teamed up with German artist Anselm Reyle to create a purple and metallic eyeshadow, nail polish, and small accessories collection. The color palette, based off of Reyle's work Untitled, is perfect for a flirty smokey eye or to add some purple highlights to brighten one's eyes. I like the collaboration because it showcases artwork that people may not have known before and brings attention to the deeper meaning of beauty and fashion. Inspiration comes from all over the world and I think it is important for people to look into the motivation behind designers' collections to learn more about different societies, cultures and ideas.

I have been searching like crazy for a new pair of sunglasses and finally found the perfect pair! Classy but edgy in my favorite tortoise shell pattern, these aviators actually look good on me (which is hard because my face is so round), will save my face from wrinkles, and add that extra fashionable touch to any ensemble. Found at BonLook.

PS - the website has a virtual dressing room so I could try the glasses on without going into a store! Talk about saving time!

The Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2012 ad campaign has been released, which was shot in Hong Kong by Alasdair McLellan and features Irina Kulikova, Kendra Spears, Tao Okamoto, Wang Xiao and Florian Van Bael as models. I like the streamlined look of the clothes, photos and poses - quite different from the free-spirited mentality of past spring collections.
