The guest fashion designer at Pitti Uomo 80 will be Scott Sternberg with the Band of Outsiders. On the evening of Wednesday 15 June, in a truly unique venue, the ex-Manifattura Tabacchi (former cigar factory), Scott Sternberg will be presenting the new 2012 spring-summer Band of Outsiders collection, along with the women’s 2012 Resort collection by Boy. by Band of Outsiders and the latest collection, Girl.

RODARTE
The special event at Pitti W no. 8 will be staged by Rodarte the acclaimed California brand owned by Laura and Kate Mulleavy, that has already been under the spotlights on New York’s catwalks and Hollywood red carpet events. On Thursday evening, 16 June, Rodarte will present a site specific event featuring the exclusive preview of a very special Special Collection and the first monograph dedicated to the brand

VESTIRSI DA UOMO [DRESS LIKE A MAN]
Fondazione Pitti Discovery is launching VESTIRSI DA UOMO [DRESS LIKE A MAN], a project devoted to the new contemporary classic look with a focus on new generation masculine elegance. On Tuesday 14 June and Wednesday 15, an event-performance and original interpretation curated by Olivier Saillard – Director of the Musée Galliera in Paris, fashion historian and scholar – will turn the spotlights on a group of Italian and international firms whose products combine artisan tailoring, innovative materials and details with a concrete approach.

GUEST NATION BRAZIL...TUDO E'
Pitti Immagine, the Fondazione Pitti Discovery and the Osservatorio Arti Contemporanee (OAC) dell'Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze proudly present the Pitti Guest Nation project, dedicated to the new protagonists on the world’s economic stage, to promote exchanges and fostering relations between host and guest countries. The first guest nation will be Brazil. Guest Nation Brazil will feature contemporary art, music and performances under the title Tudo è that will run from Tuesday 14 to Thursday 16 June at the former Esattoria della Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze. Pitti_W will also have a special section just for Brazil’s emerging fashion talents.

WHO IS ON NEXT? PITTI UOMO
In June 2011, Pitti Immagine will proudly present the third edition of “WHO IS ON NEXT? PITTI UOMO”, the competition that seeks – and finds new talents in men’s fashion design. The competition is held in cooperation with Pitti Immagine Uomo, Alta Roma and L’Uomo Vogue. The award ceremony for the latest winners will be held on Wednesday 15 June.

LUBIAM, ONE HUNDRED YEARS
The Mantua-based heritage brand has decided to celebrate its hundredth anniversary at Pitti Uomo with a multimedia event, entitled One Hundred Years, at the Limonaia in the Villa Vittoria gardens. The event dedicated to this very special occasion - with an exhibition and a capsule collection that combine sartorial tradition and contemporary art will be held on Tuesday evening, 14 June.

THE PIOMBO MATTHEW BARNEY EXHIBITION
Piombo will present “La Fabbrica di Matthew Barney” an exclusive photo portfolio by Ari Marcopoulos, to mark the publication of the second issue of the magazine STUDIO, at an event held on the evening of Wednesday 15 June at Palazzo Budini Gattai. The project is the result of the meeting between two artists of the caliber of Ari Marcopoulos and Matthew Barney: a series of portraits and an exclusive feature for the cover story of Studio’s second issue.

Vivienne Westwood and yoox.com will be marking their commitment to environmental sustainability during Pitti Uomo, by presenting the English designer’s new collection of accessories for the Ethical Fashion Africa Project – a fair-trade initiative to support Africa in cooperation with the International Trade Centre (ITC) a United Nations and the World Trade Organization department. The collection, which will be previewed as of June on Yooxygen, will be presented with an event/installation, produced with the support of the City of Florence, on the evening of Thursday, 16 June.

Slowear will be celebrating Incotex’s 60th anniversary with an event-installation and live performance featuring international artists – in the striking setting of the Museo Marino Marini

THE PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND ARCHIVE PROJECT
With an exhibition at the stand on Wednesday, 15 June, Pringle of Scotland will present the European preview of a special project, the Pringle Archive Project 1815-2012 produced in cooperation with the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, focused on the re-edition of some of the iconic items – dating from 1815 to day – in the Pringle archives.

ALBERTO GUARDIANI WALLPAPER* LIMITED EDITION
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its first line for men, Alberto Guardiani will present the première showing of the capsule collection created in cooperation with the international magazine Wallpaper* at a cocktail party on the evening of Tuesday, 14 June, in the extraordinary Palazzo Gianfigliazzi.

DAKS LAUNCHES THE NEW LABEL: DAKS SPORT
At Pitti Uomo Daks will be launching the new Daks Sport line of clothing & accessories for men and women, in a very special venue on the grounds of the Fortezza. Florence, will be the first stage launch of this new label by the historic English brand, starting with the 2012 spring-summer collection.

NEXT 3DREAMS: THE MONDADORI EVENT
On the evening of Monday 13 June, the Gruppo Mondadori – in cooperation with Pitti Immagine – will present an exclusive event, Next 3Dreams: a “dreamy” runway for a 3D stereoscopic catwalk show featuring some of the top Italian and international fashion firms. The evening will be held at the Stazione Leopolda and will include original layouts which have been created for the sponsors. The event will conclude with a dinner party accompanied by music from R101. Mondadori will also be present at Pitti Uomo in the Appointment area, located in the heart of the Fortezza da Basso, until 17 June.

FLORENCE & FASHION, the Rcs MediaGroup night of fashion
On Tuesday, 14 June RCS will present the first, entire evening dedicated to fashion and just fashion in Florence. From 6:00 p.m. to midnight, open stores and special programs will enliven the city, involving Florentines, tourists and the Pitti Uomo fashion community. The heart of the evening will be Piazza Repubblica: where a lounge for RCS guests will host a special series of events organized by the group’s publications.

CONDÉ NAST: events at the Fortezza and an exclusive evening at the Giardino Torrigiani
The CONDÉ NAST group with GQ.com, L’Uomo Vogue and Wired – which is already responsible for promoting a number of important events in the Fortezza – will also be hosting, along with RCZ Peugeot, a special evening in cooperation with Radio Monte Carlo, presenting the music of fashion and class. On the evening of 15 June an exclusive concert presented by Nick The Nightfly will be held at the Giardino Torrigiani, one of the most beautiful gardens in the heart of Florence.

“Il Sole sui Tetti”: a cultural event presented by Gruppo Sole 24 ORE
“Il Sole sui Tetti” – [Sun on the Rooftops] is a contemporary culture-and-communications project presented by Gruppo Sole 24 ORE, and created by Felice Limosani under the patronage of the City of Florence and the Commission for Cultural Affairs. Four exceptionally beautiful rooftop terraces in the city – which are not usually open to the public – will host the artist’s installations, from 14 June to 7 July - 24 days - in concomitance with the Pitti trade fairs. The special opening will be held on 13 June at the Uffizi.

STYLE GOLF and Pitti Immagine invite you to the “STYLE GOLF - PITTI CUP”
During Pitti Uomo, Style Golf and Pitti Immagine will be inviting buyers and exhibitors to the “Style Golf - Pitti Cup”. The competition, which will be held on 13 June, is organized with the collaboration of the Circolo del Golf dell’Ugolino Firenze that will be hosting the event and MilleEventi Golf, the Mario Mele & Partners structure dedicated to organizing golfing events.

LA GAZZETTA DELLO SPORT LOUNGE at Pitti Uomo
Once again at this edition of Pitti Uomo La Gazzetta dello Sport will be attending with the GazzaLook Lounge, featuring a series of meetings between the top names in fashion and the world of Sistema Gazzetta. The special layout will present a work created for the occasion by artist Claudio Monnini who will also be exhibiting at the Biennale in Venice, during the same period.

There will be a very full program both at the fair and around the city for this edition of Pitti Uomo, many of the events are still in the final planning stage, but we can tell you about some of the events organized by the Pitti Uomo exhibitors in the Fortezza and around town:

Things will start on Monday 13 June, with the cocktail party for the new issue of Firenze Made In Tuscany Magazine, organized in cooperation with Rolex and Maserati.

Tuesday 14 June:
At the Fortezza, a breakfast to relaunch S. Moritz, the historic brand founded in the 1970s, and the press meeting “Eccellenza contemporanea: sviluppo dell’internazionalità e valorizzazione della propria unicità” organized by A.Testoni. Plus, the C.P. Company cocktail party in cooperation with Jaeger Le Coultre; the presentation at the stand of the world of Scotch & Soda. And around town: the cocktail party presenting the new Technobohemian collection at the Eredi Chiarini luxury store; cocktails at the Faliero Sarti boutique; an event with a DJ set at Colle Bereto to celebrate the US Blauer brand and, at the Istituto degli Innocenti in Piazza SS. Annunziata, an evening to present the "Mabro" and "M57" collections.

Wednesday 15 June:
At the Fortezza, a press meeting to illustrate the projects by the Peter Brown and Cains Moore brands, another meeting organized by Toywatch, the presentation of the latest products from K-Way and the “I belli e dannati, come in un film anni ‘50” event created by Mason’s. Around town, a full calendar of events: in the morning, the Sala Blu, a historic venue on the first floor of Fuligno will host the launch of the new collection, AI_ by Andrea Incontri. Then, starting in late afternoon, the U.S. Polo Assn fashion show at the Loft in Piazza del Carmine, the cocktail party dedicated to Alessandro Gherardi hosted by Eredi Chiarini and the Synthetic Fashion event by Mario Luca Giusti at the Armando Poggi design boutique. Plus the Volta Footwear event in cooperation with Vibram that will certainly liven things up at the magnificent Giardino dell’orto dei Semplici; while Bugatti Brinkmann will be celebrating its 50th with a dinner party at the Circolo dei Canottieri di Firenze; Harrys of London will present the new ad campaign with renowned London illustrator, Chris Burke during cocktails at the Biblioteca dell’ Hotel Gallery Art. And late in the evening, at the Circolo del Tamburello in the Parco delle Cascine, the cult event for international dance, the 50th L’Altro Uomo Party.

Thursday 16 June,
the events at the Fortezza will include the G-Star breakfast, in the Raw Gallery, to present the new Limited Edition RAW Prouvé collection produced with Vitra starting from the archives of cult designer Jean Prouvé, to the press. The events off the Fortezza grounds include the Everlast dinner party with fashion show at The Beach, at Forte dei Marmi – produced in cooperation with Sky.

And, more…, Friday 17 June, just for Pitti Uomo, the by now traditional rendezvous with the WGSN Trend Seminar in the Conference Room, in the Monumental Area.

From 13 -16 June
around town: from 4.30 – 10.00 p.m. Crossley and Springa will be presenting a series of projects – from the Cashmere Knit-Cafè to the Temporary Sneaker Factory – and live performances in the Manifattura area, near UB on Via dei Conti, the new generation concept-store where products tell original stories filled with magic.

Desmo will be inaugurating the first boutique on Via Tornabuoni in Florence. For the occasion it will be sponsoring the concert of Coco Sumner, daughter of singer Sting and leader of Blame Coco, at the Piccolo Teatro, during the 74th Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Also on Monday 13, there will be a cocktail party to celebrate the inauguration of the first Le Sete di Jaipur single-brand store in Florence.

Tuesday 14,
Cocktail party at the Circolo dei Canottieri di Firenze will mark the launch of the Fashion Valley project and the Rifle catwalk show will be held in the charming Grand Hotel Villa Cora. Still on Tuesday: cocktails for the recent opening of the Maliparmi boutique in cooperation with Firenze Made in Tuscany Magazine – which is also the media partner of “Florentin Party” by Gianfranco Lotti that will be presented on Wednesday evening 15 June at Palazzo Gianfigliazzi.

Wednesday 15,
The Emilio Pucci boutique on Via de’ Tornabuoni will be holding an exclusive cocktail party, and Tommy Hilfiger for Bass&Co will launch the new Penny Loafer in cooperation with Luisa Via Roma with an artistic installation created by Felice Limosani.

Thursday 16 June
In the ballroom at the Galleria del Costume, Palazzo Pitti, OmA Osservatorio dei mestieri d’arte dell’Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze will present Litizia Pagliai’s book: La Firenze di Giovanni Battista Giorgini. Artigianato e Moda fra Italia e Stati Uniti (EDIFIR – Edizioni Firenze). And… on Thursday, 16 June, Doni & Associati will present an event/divertissement dedicated to the Nine Wine project investigating possible links between wine and fashion through a view of contemporary lifestyles and esthetics, at the Doni & Associati studio.

FENDI: discovering the "Fatto a Mano for the Future"
On 15 and 16 June the Fendi Boutique will host the FAM event with a series of live performances to discover “Fatto a Mano for the Future” – a project that brings together craftsmanship, art and design.

FIRENZE 4EVER III … It’s Magic
Once again – from 9 to 12 June – Andrea Panconesi, owner of Luisaviaroma.com will welcome the world’s 40 most influential fashion bloggers. This season, in addition to its patronage, the city of Florence wanted to offer the use of a building that will be called “Il Palazzo dei Fashion Blogger”. In fact, in the Museo della Specola, the fashion bloggers will have a style-lab with models, photo sets, makeup artists and hair stylists at their disposal to create looks with new – or better, world preview - collection clothes and accessories coming straight from Luisa Via Roma for the occasion.

Paul Kalkbrenner was born in Leipzig in 1977 and has grown to Berlin where he lives
still in the district of Friedrichshain. Since 1999 his work come to
Berlin BPITCHCONTROL label founded by DJ Ellen Allien. His compositions are
regularly found at the top of the charts and electronic music ...
