It’s been a while since I did a “Happily Ever Before & After“ feature, yes?!

With our busy summer schedule, I’ve had trouble finding the time to sit & search for room makeovers that I would like to feature, so I’ve had to take a break from doing this weekly segment. But, a few weeks ago, while browsing through the links at our weekly linky party, I came across a STUNNING master bedroom makeover that I knew I just had to share with you all!!

This master bedroom overhaul comes to you courtesy of Melissa & Ian at Living Beautifully.  Here is a look at their master bedroom “Before.”

In their reveal post, Melissa stated that this room was “very red, very yellow, & very much not their style.” 

They completely overhauled this room by ripping up the old laminate & replacing it with a dark bamboo flooring. They painted the walls, changed out the window treatments, installed new light fixtures, brought in new bedding, new furniture, and even replaced the hardware on the doors! To say they made some improvements in this room would be an understatement!

Blissfully Ever After

I’m so excited to share the recipe for this Punch Bowl Cake with you today! This was another recipe I found while browsing through my mom’s cookbook a couple weeks ago. My mom said that she had gotten the recipe from a friend & she remembered that it was delicious!

It’s a layered dessert with made with fruit, pudding, cool whip, & angel food cake. It’s light and refreshing which makes it perfect for summer time!!

Ingredients:
1- box Angel Food Cake (prepared)
1- 16 oz container of cool whip
2- boxes vanilla flavored instant pudding (prepared)
2- pints strawberries
3- bananas
1- 20 oz can pineapple chunks

Directions:
Prepare angel food cake per box instructions. Let cool & then cut (or tear) into small pieces.

Prepare vanilla pudding per box instructions.

Layer ingredients as follows: 1/2 of angel food cake on bottom, then add 1/2 of pudding, add all of pineapple, add all bananas, add 1/2 of cool whip topping, add rest of cake, add rest of pudding, add all of strawberries, add rest of cool whip.

(To prepare in the trifle bowl, I only used about 3/4 of the cake total. I used only 1 pint of strawberries & 2 bananas. Everything else stayed the same.)

Weekend Wrap-Up Party at Tatertots & Jello

I hope you all great weekend! Ours was great, but BUSY!! Summertime is fun, but it will flat out wear a person out!! I’ve been struggling to keep up with the blog now that Parker is out of school & we have so many summer activities going on. You all will have to forgive me, but I may be a little touch & go throughout the rest of the summer!! I’m trying really hard to stick to a regular posting schedule, but its proving to be more difficult than I thought! I hope you guys understand!

I wanted to share a little makeover that I did on our front porch a few weeks ago. I had planted flowers, & our bushes were greening up & filling out….the front of our home was looking pretty all except for the porch….it was looking a little sad if I’m being completely honest.

The porch railing had fallen victim to the rain & snow over the past couple of years. The paint was starting to chip off, and it was really becoming an eyesore.

So, I decided it was time to put a fresh coat of paint on it! I borrowed my dad’s sander & sanded down all of the porch railings to remove the chipped paint & “rough up” the surfaces to help the new paint adhere.

I went to our local home improvement store & picked up a can of white exterior paint in a semi-gloss finish. I actually went with a primer/paint all in one to avoid having to prime it first. I gave the railings two coats of paint & things were looking so much better!

After I was finished painting, it was time to add a little character to the porch. Since this the first thing people see when they come to our home, I always want it to be welcoming. You know what they say about first impressions! So our front porch went from this……

Much better, right?! 

My favorite thing about the porch would have to be this little easel chalkboard. I will show you how I created it in just a bit! I will tell you, that I had a little help from Poppy Seed Projects.

And just so you know, I am very aware that June 21st was the first official day of Summer! To my defense, I finished this little chalkboard a few days before that, so technically, it was still spring at that time! If I have time, I may get around to changing it….I’m not any hurry though! I’m pretty smitten with how it looks now!

I added three pots of varying sizes to the porch & filled them with vincas. I also added a spike to the largest pot to add some more height.

So, that’s a look at porch! It’s not a very big space, but I try to make the most of it! If you want to see how I decorate it in the Fall or at Christmas time, you can check those posts out HERE and HERE.

I hope you all had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend!

A couple weeks ago I was thumbing through my mom’s cookbook, looking for some new recipes to share with you all. I came across this Chocolate Ribbon Pie Recipe and thought it sounded delicious! My mom had never made it before, so I thought that was even more reason to give it a whirl. It sounded easy enough to make & there was just a short list of ingredients…..my kind of recipe!

4 oz. cream cheese
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp milk
1-8 oz. container cool whip
1- 9 inch prepared chocolate crumb crust
2 cups cold milk
2- 4 oz packages chocolate instant pudding

Directions:
Combine cream cheese, sugar, and 1 tablespoon milk in a large mixing bowl. Beat until smooth. Then, add in 1/2 of the cool whip topping and stir well. Spread cream cheese mixture into bottom of pie crust.

Pour 2 cups of cold milk into large mixing bowl. Add in pudding mixes. Stir with wire whisk for about 2 minutes. Pudding will be thick. Then, pour pudding over the cream cheese layer. Refrigerate for 4 hours or until set.

Before serving, spread remaining cool whip topping over the pudding layer. Garnish with shaved chocolate.

I LOVE the way this pie turned out!! It really is so, so good!! If you like chocolate & cool whip (who doesn’t?), then this recipe is sure to be a winner with you & your family as well! It’s so easy to throw together too!

Blissfully Ever After

If you like italian food, especially lasagna….I’m pretty sure you’re gonna love it too!

Ingredients:
2 cups elbow macaroni
1-8oz package cream cheese (softened)
1/3 cup sour cream
1 lb. hamburger
1-24 oz jar spaghetti sauce (we like Prego)
2 cups shredded cheese

Directions:

Boil water, cook elbow macaroni until tender. Strain noodles. Add cream cheese & sour cream to macaroni. Mix thoroughly.

Place macaroni mixture in a 9×13 baking dish.

Prepare hamburger. Once cooked, combine hamburger & spaghetti sauce. Layer hamburger mixture on top of macaroni noodles.

Cover with shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Serve & enjoy!
