A number of restaurants and hotels are established to fascinate visitors from inside and outside the country as Pir Sohawa is one of the most pacific zones of the country.

The decision was engaged during a visit to the area by CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari.

Mr. Ahmed termed Daman-i-Koh, Pir Sohawa and adjoining areas a rare gift of God for Islamabad.

He delivered instructions to various executives to create more hotels and restaurants for sightseers in the area. He also directed them to pay special attention on cleanliness of the area besides increasing the number of cleanliness staff and installing extra boxes.

The CDA chairman said it was the duty of the municipal agency to take care of the greenery and guarantee cleanliness of the zone.

“This area has the position of a visitor purpose not only for inhabitants of the capital city but also for the whole country and in a foreign country,” he said. Giving directions to the Road Maintenance Department, he said work on fixing, matting and lane marking in Daman-i-Koh should be completed as soon as possible.

Officers of Road Maintenance, Cleanliness, Environment, Streetlights and other departments were also present.

According to official website of the CDA, the Margallas are a sequence of hills located in the north of Islamabad. These hills are an brilliant site for hiking.

The best season to hike here is the mid winter months when there is fewer rain and the days are tremendously pleasant. Motivating spaces here are Daman-i-Koh, Pir Sohawa, Gokeena, Mount Happiness and Loh-i-Dandi.

Track: 3 The oldest and most well-known Track 3 is also the hardest among all the tracks due to its inclined climb. It unevenly takes 1.5 to 2 hours to reach your final target. Somewhere in the center you will also cross a sight point from where the view of Islamabad can be seen.

Track: 4 Trail 4 serves as a connecting point between trails 3 and 5.

The glorious Sheesh Mahal “The Palace of Mirrors” is situated within the Shah Burj block in northern-western corner of Lahore Fort. It was built under the sovereignty of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1631–32. The decorative white marble dome is inlaid with complex mirror-work of the premium quality. The hall was kept for personal use by the majestic family and close supporters. It is among the 21 honors that were constructed by succeeding Mughal emperors inside Lahore Fort, and forms the "ring in the Fort. it stayed adorned as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.

The Sheesh Mahal was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan. It was constructed in the middle of Jahangir's power. Sheesh Mahal, in Urdu language, exactly means 'Crystal Palace'. Though, with its pietra dura streamers and elaborate mirror-work decorated into the white marble walls and ceilings generating shiny effect the extravagant room has come to be known as 'Palace of Mirrors', and occasionally the 'Hall of Mirrors'. Similar halls are also found in the fashionable palace of the Agra Fort, and display effect on the later accompaniments to Amber Fort.

Location

The tomb is located in Shahdara Bagh, northwest of the Walled City of Lahore. The tomb is situated diagonally the River Ravi from Lahore. History

The tomb was constructed for Emperor Jahangir, who reigned the Mughal Empire from 1605 to 1627 C.E.. The emperor deceased in the hills of Kashmir near the town of Rajouri on 28 October 1627. A burial procession moved his body from Kashmir and arrived in Lahore on Friday, 12 November 1627.The Dilkusha Garden in which he was buried was a "favorite spot" of Jahangir and his wife Nur Jahan, when they existed in Lahore. His son, the new Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, ordered that a "tomb appropriate an Emperor" should be built in his father's honour to inter his remains.

Though current historians feature construction of the tomb to Jahangir's son Shah Jahan, the tomb may have been the result of Nur Jahan's idea. Taking inspiration from her father's funeral place, she is said to have designed the tomb in 1627, and probably helped trust it. Construction started in 1627,demanding ten years for completion, and cost Rs 10 Lakh.

Repair works were started at the tomb in 1814 according to Sikh court records. The tomb complex, however, was also dishonored under Sikh rule when they were plundered by the army of Ranjit Singh, with building materials used for decoration of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The pillaged grounds were then converted for use as a private dwelling for an officer in the army of Ranjit Singh, Senior Oms, who was also known as Musa Sahib.[16][17] Ranjit Singh further desecrated the mausoleum once more when he ordered that Musa Sahib be buried on the tomb's grounds after dying from cholera in 1828. By 1880, a rumour had begun partying which suspected that the tomb once was topped by a dome or second storey that was stolen by Ranjit Singh's army, though no evidence has been found to propose that a dome or second story ever existed at the tomb.

Construction of Jangir Tomb

The tomb was built in a Mughal style inclined by Safavid-style architecture from Persia, which may have been introduced into the Mughal Court by Nur Jahan- who was of Farsi origin. The use of minarets, absent from early Mughal commands, reflects a renewed attention in Timurid architecture from Central Asia during the supremacy of Jahangir. The minarets are divided into three sections, with the tomb forming the base, upon which the body of the minaret rests, called by white marble domes. The minarets rise to a height of 100 feet (30m).

The tomb's gardens are laid out in the Persian Chahar Bagh style.

The gardens surrounding the tomb are vast, and laid out in the Persian Chahar Bagh, or Heaven garden. The garden is divided into four squares by cemented paths and two bisecting central water channels which are designed to reflect the four rivers that flow in Jannat, the Islamic concept of paradise. Each of the four squares is further divided into smaller squares with pathways, creating into 16 squares in all. The garden forms a courtyard measuring almost 500 metres on each side.

The burial chamber contains the Emperor's cenotaph.

The tomb building is separated into a series of domed compartments which are richly embellished with Mughal buon painting.

At the center of the tomb is an octangular chamber lined with carved marble in which the remains of the Mughal Emperor rest in a crypt below a cenotaph. The interior of the tomb features a white-marble monument decorated with pietra dura in botanic patterns, as well as the 99 Names of Allah, a common theme in Islamic spirituality.

Layout

The mausoleum is set in a large courtyard with gates facing each of the cardinal directions. Entry to the courtyard is via the western edge through the Akbari Sarai - a gate containing a small mosque. To the immediate west of the Akbari Sarai is the Tomb of Asif Khan - Jahangir's brother-in-law.

UNESCO Protection

The site is sheltered by the Federal Ancient times Act 1975, though requisites of the law are frequently abandoned, resultant in damage to the site and nearby area. Harappa: History of of Harappan Architecture & Town Planning

Harappa is a large village located in Punjab province of in Pakistan. The modern town is a part of and located next to the antique city. The location of Harappa is significant in that it has provided proof of not just the Indus Valley Civilization as it was in its major, but also of preceding and following cultures as well and is the only spot included in this sort. The old path of the Ravi River runs to the north of the location, which has since shifted six miles further north.

Behind us was a large circular mound, or renown, and to the west was an asymmetrical rocky height crowned with remnants of buildings, in remains of walls, with niches, after the eastern manner. The latter elevation was certainly a natural object; the former existence of earth only, was clearly an artificial one. The walls and towers of the castle are curiously high, though, from having been long deserted, they display in some parts the consequences of time and decay. Between our camp and it, (there) lengthy a deep channel, now dense with grass and plants. Custom affirms the existence here of a city, so significant that it extended to Chicha Watni, and that it was demolished by a particular visitation of Providence, brought down by the lust and crimes of the royals.

Lewis linked the city to Sangala from the age of Alexander (1300 years previous) by which he was highly mistaken in his supposition. Later in 1831 CE, an ambassador from King William IV, namely Alexander Burnes, recorded the extensive remnants at Harappa while travelling from Multan to Lahore to transport gifts of horses from the King of England to Ranjit Singh. He has also defined Harappa while on the same path:

About fifty miles eastbound of Tulumba, I passed domestic for four miles to examine the skeletons of an ancient city, called Harappa. The leftovers are widespread, and the place, which has been built of brick, is about three miles in perimeter. There is a ruined fortress on the river side of the town; but otherwise Harappa is a perfect anarchy, and has not an entire building: the bricks have been removed to build a small place of the old name heard by custom fixes the fall of Harappa at the same period as Shortkot (1300 years ago), and the people assign its ruin to the revenge of God on Harappa; its governor, who claimed certain privileges on the marriage of every couple in his city, and in the course of his sensualness, was guilty of incest…I have found coins in these ruins, both Persian and Hindu, but I cannot fix its epoch from any of them.

Though, their records were noticed by Alexander Cunningham, who visited the location in 1853 CE and 1856 CE, resulting in a small dig in 1872 CE, which then classifies the site with that of Malii, which Alexander had well-ordered to be obstructed when he occupied the subcontinent. That city was near widespread marshes and to the east or south-east of Kot Kamalia, and Harappa lies exactly in such a place on the banks of the old sequence of the Indus and 16 miles east-south-east of Kot Kamalia.

The location even at this time was used as a brick quarry by brick thieves working on the Multan Railway, in the same way that Mohenjo-Daro and Kalibangan became excavations for the Sind and Bikaner Railways separately. During his quarries, Cunningham found pottery, chert blades, and a seal. Cunningham named the cover foreign to India at that time. Also according to inhabitants, the castle hill was the plug of a major Hindu temple that was destroyed and was at the time the place of a tomb of Nur Shah. Some objects were found with this tomb. The bricks occupied from the place were more than enough to equip 100 miles of the Lahore Multan Railway, appearing to the scale of the constructions that occurred there. In spite of several quarries, Cunningham found very minor to reservation as the majority of the settlement had been exposed of bricks. Following quarries at Kalibangan, Suktagendor, and Mohenjo-Daro revealed the extent of this civilization, but it wasn't until 1922 that extensive soundings were carried out at Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa and the consistent places were painstaking as the Indus Valley Civilization.

Until a few years ago, this site characterized just another forgotten piece of history, though it ongoing to gain grip over the past few years and is now reflected one of the top one-day trip places in Punjab, especially amongst photographers, creative thinker and history-lovers.

The Katas Raj Temples hold huge significance in the Hindu mythos, as it is believed the bluish-green water of the pond, formed by the tears of Lord Shiva, which he shed following the death of his wife, wash-downs one’s sins. The remnants of a Buddhist stupa can also be seen in the area along with some newly built structures.

In many ways, Katas Raj’s history reflects Pakistan’s evolving attitude towards its Hindu heritage. After Partition, while ancient Buddhist sites were preserved, and promoted, as part of the country’s rich history, the Hindu heritage was ignored as the trauma of Partition and the quest for shaping an identity distinct from Hindu India animated the national narrative. During the wars of 1965 and 1971 with India, members of the Hindu and Sikh communities were attacked. In 1992, after the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in India, many Hindu temples in Pakistan were destroyed.

Although the dilapidating and immensely ignored temple complex is being reinstated, the heavy vegetation around the temples and the calmness of the area makes it one of the most prominent tourist attraction

The tomb is on the tentative list as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.stinations in Punjab.

Additionally, this composite of temples is one of the largest holy sites for the followers of Hindu religion in Punjab.

Visit Darbar of Hazrat Shah Rukn-E-Alam to value the construction and give your greetings to the Sufi saint. See carved red brick ornaments and blue and white mosaic tiles, which altogether create a splendid outdoor. Octangular in shape, with 4 m (13 ft) thick walls, the interior remains bare, providing a blunt distinction with the decorative frontage. From the outside, you'll notice that the tomb consists of three stories: two octagons topped by a semicircular dome. You can also see geometric floral designs, as well as calligraphy ideas.
