Review - Upcoming game from Fantasy Flight; RuneWars: The Miniatures Game

2016-11-08T12:00:00.000-08:00

Hi friends!
Long time I´m not around, it´s been a busy and strange year. With a lot of changes, but I haven´t lost the interested in the games, what´s more, we are planning to upgrade and introduce some new stuff.
But this time I´m not here to talk about me, but about an upcoming game that will kick the table of fantasy games by the hand of Fantasy Flight Games. Let me introduce you Rune Wars: The Miniature Game (RWMG).
Awesome, that´s all I can say. Bye.

Ha, not really, I´ve got the oportunity to play some games of RWMG and it´s been so cool, for those of you who play Fantasy games, it will introduce some new magic and turn systems which are incredibly. For those of you who play X-Wing, you´ll find the turn system quite familiar, with a few changes.
What are the tops of this game:

> The miniatures, did you see them? So cool.

>The turn. The idea of plan the strategy of how you move and how you act at the same time your opponent does, it´s something new for all the fantasy players. And it deserves to try the shot if you like Fantasy Wargames.

> Magic system. I haven´t played a fantasy game in which the magic and how you use it can change turn by turn, and you have no idea how the next turn if the magic will pump your units or you have to think a backup plan to act quickly if the magic is on your opponent side.

> Terrain. This game let you use terrain a lot more than other games, even you have game stuff to improve how to use it.

Hope you have enjoyed this review. And I´ll bring you more news of this game.

Ok friends, today I`m showing you the second part of the miniatures I`m painting to a friend, the Dreadnought miniature of the Space Marines from Warhammer 40K. To paint this miniature I did it the same way I painted the Space Marines from last week.

Space Marine Terminator Squad first project.

2015-03-15T11:51:00.001-07:00

Well, today I`m bringing you a project asked by a customer/friend, who ask me to paint his Space Marines Terminators miniatures, from Warhammer 40K. As he wanted for his Space Wolves army, I decided to paint them in gray (because if you do not have the right paint color from Citadel, it´s quite dificult to make it exactly as the Space Wolves blue/gray). He asked for the basic painting I do, and besides time was not a problem, I could finish them in less than one evening.
Steps I made:

Spray white primer.
Then I mixed blue with the gray I had to made a lighter gray. And applied as the base paint.
I painted most of the details in black, and the rest of them in gold, silver and bone.
Applied a black wash to highlight miniature details, and made them look dirty (they are in a war!)
And you can add some dry brush here and there for more details.

Hope you like them!

Terrain article VI: Field of small volcanoes.

2014-06-06T11:49:00.000-07:00

Fellows! It´s been a while since I post something, I´ve been quite busy lately. Today I´m bringing you a new cheap-quick-easy to made-terrain for your Wargames. It took me like one hour to make it, total. You can use this terrain to some dark sci-fi world, or maybe a mountain field.
To make this volcanoes you need:

Black and grey paint.
Sand.
PVA glue
Some old brushes.
Cardboard where the eggs come from.
A small piece of cardboard or wood to make the base.
That´s it!

First, just cut some part of the eggs´s cardboard, the amount of volcanoes you want in your terrain. Glue them to your base, then put some PVA glue to the base and add the sand.
Print them in black (in this case, you can use other color if you want to make the volcanoes in some grass terrain), then apply some dry brush with grey. And that´s all! Yes, the terrain is finish, and you can add some red paint to make the lava and any kind of detail you want.

Hope you like it!

And here is the video, in case you want to share it.

New miniatures!... and nothing to show this week.

2014-05-09T07:35:00.003-07:00

This is a post with no terrain or miniatures to show, right now. I was very busy this week and I couldn´t finish some miniatures or terrains.
But I´m bringing you this, these are the new miniatures arrived me this week, to become part of my Circle Orboros and Khador armies! I really like Warmachine and Hordes from Privateer Press, so as soon as I can I will bring you some battle report.
Regards!

Terrain article V - Steel fence part 1

2014-05-02T10:44:00.003-07:00

Here I come with a new Terrain article, as I did with my last terrain project, I´m going to show you this in several parts, because until I could finish it will take some time. So this first part is how I started this.
Is a terrain piece for modern wargames, I don´t think futuristic, but you could use it there too.
First I cut some long-matchstick, and built them as seen on the pictures, then I cut some of
that cloth crosslinked by the measure I wanted and glue them to the matchsticks.
Second I glue all to a cardboard sheet (here you could use something else, more rigid).
Once all was dry, I primed in black and then started to paint it in grey (so the final color is starting to show up).
This terrain piece is being built, so as soon as I can I will upload more pictures, as I always say, this is an example of how I built this, is for you to take some ideas and build your own, even better. If you do this, please take some pictures and upload them so I can see them.
Hope you like it!

Terrain articles IV- Ruined stone tower. Part 2

2014-04-25T12:06:00.001-07:00

Well friends, here comes the second part of the Ruined Tower I started last week (in the link you go the article part 1) this is a terrain piece which took me less than two hours in total, of course, you have to let dry the paint, etc., so it was like two days to me, but it can be done in just one.
For this part what I did was prime it in black, then paint it grey, apply some wash with the black paint I used before ( I personally had some troubles with this) and then apply a dry brush. That´s it, that´s all.
And you have a good terrain to play, it looks fine, this is the basic finished ruined tower. I will still adding some stuff, but you can do it this friday and you will have it to play all weekend.
Hope you have enjoyed it.

Terrain articles IV- Ruined stone tower. Part 1

2014-04-21T08:47:00.002-07:00

Well friends, today I´m bringing to you a new terrain piece I´m doing to my wargames battles. It´s the first part, I did not finished yet, but I want to show it to you.
It´s easy, cheap and quick to make terrain. All you have to do is to take an ice cream container, glue the cap upside down, to the top of the container with PVA glue (it´s in the images and easy to understand). Then, once it is dry, took a roll ball pen (doesn´t matter the color, I used the green one because it was what I have next to me) and mark what are going to be the bricks.
When you have all the bricks you want marked, with a knife or a cutter, cut part of the container, as if it where destroyed. Then, using a spray can paint, apply it only to the borders, it will melt the container and make a ruined effect.
As I told you, it is not finished yet, I have to paint it, but with this you have the base to start working and be creative. Hope you like it.

Protectorate of Menoth VS. Circle Orboros

2014-04-19T16:36:00.001-07:00

Today, I bring you a report of a game I had this week, it was a meeting between Warmachine Protectorate of Menoth against part of my Circle Orboros army from Hordes. I do not have a camera to film battles (still, who wants to help me in this little matter is always welcome, lol) so I have to make it with Battle Chronicler, a software I don´t still manage to achieve 100%.

I hope you see this and the strategic blunder that I made during that meeting, I trusted the inexperience of my opponent and (despite several errors I skiped as he is learning the game) and is the second time I lose that manner.

Scenario: Well, the background was very simple, basically had everything in the Terrain articles I have shown you so far. I have a little project on the way, but I have to show them how to achieve just that.

Deployment: This was the deployment, the first round, after a tie, was for my opponent.

Turn 1-Protectorate of Menoth: This is what my opponent decided to do (don´t know why in the image I could not put Circle Orboros, or why his Warcaster does not appear as a single model, but as a large trip square). He just moved and tried to get lucky with some shots of his Warjack Vanquisher.

Turn 1 - Circle Orboros: In this turn I just decided to move because I do not have shots units, or those that I have it, do not have long range.

Turn 2 - Protectorate of Menoth: He decided to move this turn, since he could not specify charges, and notice that the Paladin moved at the left of the picture, I completely forgot about the strength of those Paladin the Order of the Wall.

Turn 2 - Circle Orboros: I already having it on range I decided to make full charges, cast spells with my Warlock and leave almost no Fury Points (which reduced its armor) and well, I said, "Ok, now I wreck all his Warjacks. "

Turn 3 - Protectorate of Menoth: And here ended my smile, yeah, yeah, that happened. The Paladin of the Order of the Wall, got on my left flank, and charged, it turns out these guys are tough, and have Weapon Master, adding a dice to the damage, plus one dice for the charge, my little armor, and high rolls in his dices and well ... that ends my Warlock and the game.

Hope you like this, I have other games and reports on the way and will be showing it soon. I ask you, What would have been your strategy?

Roll ´em all!

Gamesmachine? Warmashop? What is this?

2014-02-22T10:07:00.004-08:00

I was checking the news from Games Workshop, and I´ve found this. It is just me, or they decided to put some Warjacks in Warhammer 40K? If they put some of the Khador army, it´s ok to me.
If you want to check them, go check GamesWorkshop.
