A little gratitude? Anyone?

Been thinkin' about stuff lately. I look through all of the products on our website. I know what they mean to all of the folks out there who buy them and send us such nice notes about them. There are so many believers out there, but there are so many others who just need the Lord. Every now and then you find yourself looking around at some of the sadness in the world. Many have family members with addiction issues just like mine. Many others have marital issues or family violence issues. Sometimes the sadness just strikes you, you know?

So then I have to shake myself to my core and ask the questions...Am I a light? Am I a beacon? Do I comfort those who mourn? Do I pray for them? What am I doing to make it better? Do I let my sadness spill over onto them? Or do I let His light so shine? Sometimes it is just darned hard to smile, you know? But I gotta...I just gotta. It's my job as a Christian. Sometimes you just have to obey. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"(Heb.11:1)...Things NOT seen, NOT proven, NOT touchable. You just know that you know that you know, you know?

I hope you do. I'm sad today, but I am going to lift my eyes up, put my knees down, and know that there are many others with way heavier burdens than I have...and they need my support.

I don't know about you, but I love wall crosses, and I love Christmas! They are "a few of my favorite things", as the old song goes. Missing Something on that Hallway Wall? Religious Home Decor ~ And More!

Have your seen the newest idea in home decor? Is your hallway screaming at you? Of course it is!! It is the most neglected place in the house!

Ladies! Get out your family pictures and your frames! And then, get out your unused decorative crosses, because putting the two together is the newest thing! And it's awesome! Here's where you start...

First, you need a wall space and a color. Yep, you need to figure out what color you are going to paint it. You need a complementary but darker color. Make it something somewhat dramatic. Once you get that done, you need a nice decorative cross that has character. The one I am going to use has colors of green and a tad of an orange tint. It matches my brown wall perfectly! That's because my opposite wall is a greenish tan color that is the perfect complement. Here is what my cross looks like.
I wish you could see it up close because the colors just don't show up very well in the picture. It is *really* pretty.

Anyway, you put that cross in the top left corner. The layout should remind you of a piece of stationary with a crest in the top corner. You can also use a smaller one in another spot on the wall between the pictures to tie it all together. I can't wait to finish mine! Send me your pictures and I'll post mine as soon as I have it!.

Give Crosses For Christmas - The Gift That Keeps on Giving All Year Long

Few religious symbols proclaim Christianity like a cross does. The cross has become not only a symbol for Christianity, but has morphed into the secular world as popular home decor pieces, and unfortunately, even a gang symbol. A Crucifix, which is the cross with the Savior Jesus Christ dying on the cross, is a religious symbol for those of the Catholic faith around the world. In any country, if you enter into someone's home and see a crucifix in their home decor, you can probably rest assured that they are of the Catholic faith. Religious symbols are everywhere and more prevalent than ever.

Regardless of the meaning to an individual, religious symbols have been used for thousands of years to convey a message. Many Christians have crosses used in their decor, both for the beauty and the message. I have a large rusty wrought iron cross in my master bathroom that sets the tone for the theme of the room immediately. I also have a large wrought iron cross over my fireplace that is quite stunning. Inevitably when someone enters my den, the first thing that they comment on is the large cross over the fireplace. It gives me the perfect opportunity to both say thank you for the complement on my home decor, but more importantly, share my faith. There isn't a better way, in my opinion, to send a message to guests in my home than to have beautiful decorative crosses in my decor. The question I always get is "how many crosses is too many in my decor?", and the answer has everything to do with taste and preference.

Obviously if you have a cross on every wall space and in every corner the entire theme "screams" and the message gets "shouted" instead of tastefully relayed. I like a collage of crosses of different sizes on a wall all together, and I've seen it done very tastefully in many homes. I think you have to step back from your decor and look at it in total to determine if you have "too much". Everyone has a different opinion about it of course, so in the end, you have to use a light touch to tastefully display your crosses without "flooding" the house with them. Remember, the goal is to send your message softly while beautifying your home at the same time. Try giving a decorative cross to someone this Christmas and help them display it. What a fun way to spread the Good News. I think you will really love the results of both!

So much to do, so little time! Where has the year gone? OMG! It's just amazing how it could be almost October already. My goodness! I don't know about where you live, but here in Dallas, it's either rain, or high humidity and heat. They just exchange places every other day. Sheez!

Of course, one man's answer to prayer is another man's discomfort. We prayed for rain because all of our lakes were 20' low, and now they are busting at the seams and causing problems. I've been asking God if we should start building the arc! God just can't make us happy no matter what he does, can he?

I'm always amazed when I go into other Christian Friends' homes to see what neat things they have displayed or groupings that they have done. Sometimes when I see things that they have ordered from our Decor Crosses and More page, it is exciting and delightful. I just purchased the 3 Cross Candleholders set and put them in my den. I got some really neat candles that matched my colors and they look really nice on my mantle if I do say so myself!

I'm writing to you from my back porch where the birdies in the birdsnest are crying for their Mama to feed them, the Bluejay is trying to get on the birdfeeder while my cat, Jackson, barks (literally!) at him, and Mr. Squirrel competes with Mr. Bluejay for the ledge of the birdfeeder. It's a zoo out here! But, such a lovely one.

In Dallas, the end of April is the best time of year. It's not too hot, but not too cold. Just perfect. It will last about...oh..that long, and then it's gone into the blistering heat. Every year I try to add a new angel or cross to my back yard, but I have so many now that I'm thinking that I won't add another this year. I have many wonderful Garden Crosses to choose from it boggles my mind. I try to imagine you all looking at everything there is to purchase and I get overwhelmed by all of the lovely items there are. I want one of each sometimes.

Happy Easter everyone! I hope that your holiday was filled with joy and worship! Our church, Prestonwood Baptist in Plano, Tx was AMAZING as always! Prestonwood has 25,000 and some members and all of them showed up in one of the services...along with half of Dallas! It was absolutely wonderful! And the choir! Oh the Choir and Orchestra! All I can say is WOW! If you have not attended and you are at all close, please stop by and attend a service. I think the angels drop by just to join in! It's just fabulous.

I love Easter! The event that Easter represents is the foundation of the Christian faith. All other religions have prophets that lived and died, but only Jesus rose again and will come again. It is what distinguishes Christianity from all of the other religions of the world. And, it is quite profound if you think about it. How can all of these "Christian" people around the world believe in this super-natural happening that can't be definitively proven, and then wait around for thousands of years waiting for Him to come back to claim them? It sounds far-fetched doesn't it? And yet, I and thousands like me, don't have a single reservation about the truth of it. We "know that we know that we know", don't we?

So, I guess all that's left to say is that, while many speculate and prognosticate about whether it happened, couldn't possibly have happened, could seriously not ever have happened, or it's all a bunch of hooey, it doesn't really bother us Christians at all. We actually just feel a bit sorry for those that can't step out on blind faith and just believe. When He calls me, I'll be found ready and waiting, packed with heavenly passport in hand, standing on the corner waiting to be picked up. I'll see you there!

Whew! Can you believe it? 2007 is here & running at break neck speed. I hope your New Years Eve happenings were safe and fun. Whether you are the "quiet types" that stay home and happily go to bed early and get that extra sleep, or the "out on the town types" that celebrate, celebrate, celebrate, everyone in America looks into the new year wondering what it's going to bring.

So, 2007 resolutions? Is your top of the list item that weight loss program like most of the rest of us? Or, are you going to work hard and make more money? Or, better yet, are you going to spend more time with your family and work toward home harmony and love? What's it going to be?

Well, it will be interesting. I've got to find balance between work and home. I've got to do some cardio & weight training exercise and drop 20 pounds. I've got to entertain more and worry about my house less. I'm going to love and spend time with my friends and family more and still work on all the jobs I have. It can be done with the right direction. Of course, my direction will come from only one place. I will "Look up and listen". He's always talking...it's just whether I take the time to listen or not.

I wish all of you a healthy, happy, prosperous and blessed 2007. HE is so good, isn't HE?

The internet is busier than ever! Post Christmas shopping is in full swing! Shoppers anticipating after Christmas sales and really good deals are swarming the malls. I have to admit that I did go out the day after Christmas looking for shirts for my husband and to spend a giftcard I received. But as I walked around looking, I found myself wondering how many of the people I saw really had an appreciation for what the season is really all about.

I stopped at the food court and overhead kids at the next table telling their parents, "I want to get this...I want to get that...I want to go here...and there!" It all just seemed so depressing.

But then I determined that I wasn't going to let it get me down. I finished up my sandwich and walked over to their table and gave them a "I hope God blessed your Christmas. He sure blessed mine." I shook hands and wished them well. They seemed, well, confused. And I chuckled as I headed to the next store. We just spread the word one person at a time. That's what it's all about!

Have you noticed how many beautiful crosses there are to display in your home or office? I just love the simplicity of it, and yet the message it contains is simple and complex at the same time. It's simple if you are a believer, and it's very complex if you are a fence-sitter or agnostic.

I love wrought iron in my home. I have a lovely cross over my fireplace and it is a focal point that makes a statement for the room. I've noticed far more crosses in people's decor than ever before. They certainly are all the rage. But I also hope that they will serve as a reminder of what they stand for.

Standing crosses certainly are beautiful. My daughter got me an iron one that is 2 feet tall and it on my mantle along with the wrought iron cross on the wall. Makes a very nice statement if I do say so myself. Check out the picture of it.

If you have a nice setting in your home where you use crosses, send a picture. We would love to admire it!

"Wow! Where did the year go? It's November and I haven't started shopping yet!" I hear this every day from someone. The stores have all of their Christmas stuff out already. I even saw some before Halloween! What is up with this earlier and earlier Christmas shopping push by the retailers and online retailers? Well, I can tell you that we at CrossesAndChristmas.com are having some real difficulty filling some orders. Our suppliers list the products but when we post the order, they tell us that they are sold out with no backorder available. And this is happening more and more often as the days go by. No matter how often we update our website products, we can't keep up. Everyone is shopping early! We are thrilled to get the business this early, but we have had some frustrated customers along the way.

All we can tell you is that every online retailer is working like crazy to keep their sites updated with the most current stock available, but it's not an easy task. The best advice that anyone can give you is to start shopping early, especially if you are ordering online! As the internet starts to slowly take over as the preferred "retail store" instead of the mall, it's only going to get more difficult to find what you want. We doubt that you will even find better prices as Christmas looms closer. You may need to head to the brick and morter retail stores to get price deals.

If you are like me though, the thought of getting dressed and going out to a retail store at the mall or whereever makes me want to skip shopping for Christmas altogether! The crowds, the tempers, the impatience, the rudeness...it's all rather daunting, don't you think?

Well, thanks for letting me vent! I just can't get excited about Christmas before Turkey day, but my advice to you is to get on your computer and start searching for those gifts that you really want to give. I'm going to have to take my own advice at this point...I'll be right there with ya! If I want to give any coveted Christmas gifts, I have to start now.

But while you are searching and ordering, be sure to do one very important thing...remember that HE is the Reason for the Season! That seems to put everything into perspective when you are at your wits end...And what could be better than that around the Thanksgiving holiday?
