Hey guys! I'm really sorry but this post is going to have to be raw, because there is something wrong with my computer. Whenever I try to run large programs or even sync my iphone, my computer just dies!*** It happens without warning too. I thought it was my battery so I figured I'd wait until a new one shipped but it came in today and its still doing it soooo AHHH. Just try to ignore/forgive any spelling errors or long winded nonsensical rants.

***On a related note: Dear blogger pleaz and thnx make a mobile app! Not being able to update a post on my phone kinda sucks a whole bunch when stuff like this goes down...

ANYWAY. I really love this top I got on sale at target! The sleeves make me feel like a freakin' princess. I also grabbed one in black because they were under ten bucks.

When I saw the Missoni line for target, I knew it would break me. I tried to tell myself not to get heels because I just can't walk in them, but they are surprisingly comfortable and I love the simple yet powerful statement they make.

I have no idea what I was going for when I put this outfit together. At first, I wanted to try business casual but I felt so stiff and boring. I wanted to wear something FUN but structured and neat. So. Here you go I guess? I don't know why, but I'm never really completely satisfied with my outfits. There is always something more I wish I could have done! Does that ever happen to you?

The picture frame is a present for my oldest sister Lauren. I'm almost done painting it, but I have to use my computer to print a picture for it soooo....

A quick update...

I've (fingers crossed) got a place to stay in denton for next semester so no more commuting=more time for blogging, I've been modifying some vintage/using the crap out of my sewing machine and I got some mad good shoe steals at platos closet so as soon as I figure out this stupid stupid fart brained computer problem I'ma have so much to post!!! Other good things in my life include a pretty boy, great friends, an exciting semester about to start and the complete reorganization and purification of my room. Things are pretty peachy for me right now! I almost can't enjoy it because I'm just waiting for something to go wrong!

Well, I guess that should cover all of it nothing more to tal - OH HEY LOOK HOLY CRAP GUIZ I WAS FEATURED IN THIS REALLY COOL TUMBLR EDITED BY NINA GARCIA I MEAN LIKE WHAT IN THE HEY HOO.
Seriously though, I cannot even wrap my mind around that. I mean, what a great way to start the new year, right?!

Hey Hey guys I did some things to this old blog here while I was ill!

For starters, go check out my 'things I read' page. I've been updating it to include all the blogs I've started following since I last updated it in...Never.

As you may or may not know, I'm reallly upset with google for getting rid of weardrobe. It was one of my favorite ways to find new blogs to follow! Now that I find myself wading through my fellow bloggers reading lists to find new people I thought it might be more helpful if I included some more info about the blogs I'm following, so I'm going through all of them and adding some quotes from peoples 'about me's and what have you. My goal is to make it easier for everyone to navigate my reading list and find blogs that will actually appeal to them. If you see anything wrong with your about me, or you'd rather it said something else let me know and I can change it! I'd like to eventually add pictures if I can but I'm not sure how I'd go about it. Would I pick the picture? What if that isn't the one the blogger likes or thinks captures their blog? Bleh. I dunno. I'll figure it out later. Feel free to vocalize yourself on that one!

I will hopefully keep this momentum going and update my reading list on a biweekly basis ( fortnight style, not semiweekly just for clarification), so if I start following you and you don't show up right away don't be alarmed, I am probably just being very lazy.

I also changed my 'things I want' page to a 'things I buy' page in an attempt to help make me accept my shopping addiction a bit more ( its cheaper than therapy!) and maybe help control my budget. I'm also hoping it will also help my fellow shoppers, as I can go back and review items as well as include all the different outfits I wear it in ( or don't!) so if you're interested in buying it yourself you can see how it might work out.

I'm going to start this sucker off with a pair of pants I just got from Forever 21 (pictured above). They were sort of a gamble, because they're the sort of pants I like, but then never seem to know how to style. I think I great casual way to style pants like this is with a slouchy boyfriend style tee, but for some reason that looked a bit TOO tomboy on me so I opted for the floral tank. Overall I like the results, but unfortunetly I spent so much time styling it that the sun was almost down so the pictures sort of suck. Sorrz guiz!

But now that I'm NOT sick anymore, I'm hoping to get in PLENTY of posts in over break, so stick around!

Ok. Finals are over. It was ok to be largely absentee during school, but now I should be able to post more than this one lousy fuzzy faced picture, right? Lol nyyoooope.

I am currently sickly and all kinds of gross. It's like my body was holding on juuust until finals were over to completely give up. The funniest part is that other than the pain in my throat/eye, my congestion and the fact that I haven't been able to breathe through my nose for several days I feel totally fine so all this 'rest' and 'sleep' business is makin' me antsy. I've almost re-played my way through Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and I'm reorganizing all of my everything ever. I'm thinking if I start putting outfits together now, I can be supplied for the rest of break.

This outfit picture is actually from finals week, when I had a spare 4 minutes before rushing off to school to take a picture. Literally, 4 minutes. I time myself in the morning, because it takes me 45 minutes to commute to class so I can't risk getting stuck in traffic.
Getting the camera and stuff together? 2 minutes. Taking a picture? 1 minute. Catching my cat after she snuck outside? 2 minutes, making me a minute behind schedule so I literally only took one picture before I had to race to school ( ok not race. I drive like a grandma BUT I did speed through a yellow light so consider that me living on the edge.) I intended to redo it and maybe mess with the styling, but I hate that I haven't posted anything in so freakin' long and I figured this was better than nothing.

Meanwhile, I bought two dresses from F21 that I want to show you guys once I'm not all swollen and red eyed. Here's hoping that happens before Christmas...

New Years Resolutions and Knee deep thoughts

The other day I was driving with my mother when we passed a house decked to the halls in Christmas decorations. "Really?" my mom said. "It hasn't even been Thanksgiving yet!" Well mom, those guys have nothing on me because I'm already thinking about my new years resolutions.

Upon reflection, this year has been actually really good for me. I finally mentally moved on from the first guy I let have my heart, and the guy who then immediately shat all over/cheated hard on it (on a side note:Look out Zach Braff. I'm coming for you). After a really stressful spring, I accepted that I wasn't meant to be an art major and moved on to doing Technical theater which makes me waaay happier and feel more fulfilled. I got a new job that pays well and that I beyond enjoy, my grades are improving and I have way more hope in my future than I ever have before. I'm inspired and happy. Good stuff, right?

But...none of that was in my resolutions last year. In fact, out of all those resolutions I only really achieved 2. I knit now, and I wake up before 10. The go to bed before midnight part however... Well.

So I came to the conclusion, resolutions like that just aren't for me. This New Years, my Resolution list is going to be be pretty short: Do more, do it better and don't give up.

Yeah, I think I can stick to that.

So. Apparently, my camera only likes to actually work if it is in the shade and I'm in the sun because it is a diva or whatever. Once I discovered this, I was happy for a whole 5 seconds before I realized I'm just now figuring it out when I'm but a few days away from getting a new camera.

WAIT WHAT?

Yes. Yes indeed. I asked for a new camera for my birthday. "but wait" my stalkers/people who have legitimate reasons for knowing my birthday are wondering. "Your birthday was in October. It is November. Do your parents not love you or something?" No. This is not it. In fact, despite my providing them with plenty of reasons to have left me with a starving pack of wolves as a child they seem to be genuinely fond of me.

The real problem is that the camera I wanted was mysteriously discontinued so my parents are waiting on me to find another camera I like.

So here is where you can help! What kind of camera do you use for your blog? What are some accessories you find absolutely essential? I'm aiming for something at, under or around $300. The closer to $300, the better because I'd also like to treat myself to a new tripod that isn't broken and doesn't have to be held up by a force of God. I'd like something that has lots of fun lenses available so I can eventually start fancying it up with all the cash from my new job as well.

WAIT. WHAT WHAT.

Oh yeah. I have a new job! Its mainly why I haven't been posting recently, because for awhile there I was finishing off my two weeks notice at plato's and working my other job +school and stuff. I also turned 21 and that was pretty cool.

I work as a CA at Sterling Apartments on Fry St. now and if you're a student in Denton you should def come see us cause we're awesome. Once the apartments are built, we will literally be right across the street from campus. That plus we're super green and have awesome amenities... Did I mention I'm gonna be one of the people in charge of organizing fun events for the apartments? Oh yeaaaaah. Not only is this a significant pay raise for me, but it also means I'll be able to live on campus next year instead of commuting! Yay!

So I really like this blazer. Its silk, cozy and looks fantastic with a pumpkin spice latte. I think you can expect to see it more often on here!

I have to leave for my sculpture class pretty soon, so I don't have time to write very much....

I will say that as of now, I'm working on making a black swan costume for my birthday and that is coming along pretty ok. I can't wait to show you guys!
p.s. if you switch between the first two pictures in separate tabs really fast it's like I'm dancing. It is sort of beautiful, and highly entrancing.

This is probably another one of those outfits that cost under 30 for the whole thing. The boots were about 8, the tank was 3, the romper 6, shades 6, necklace 5 belt was about 2... plus tax and minus my 20% off...you get the idea.

So. My allergies have been kicking my BUTT the past few days. I'm trying to not let it slow me down though, because I've got a lot going on! I'm doing a ceramic bust of my sister in my sculpture class, working on the lion hat for my Luna costume, going Edward Scissorhands on twigs(I'll explain better later, once the idea is better fleshed out!) all while learning to crochet and studying up for my midterm exams! I'm also considering switching from Etsy to Ebay because...etsy is just too hard to figure out. I feel like I have to WAY overcharge just to ensure I don't loose all of my profit. I just feel like ebay has itself better together for someone starting out, you know? I feel like Ebay has less surprise problems than Etsy does. Hopefully I'll have it figured out by this weekend so I can start listing more things! Yay! Things!

Just so you know, a new camera is tied for number one on my list of potential wants for my birthday in October ( the big 21! Whoooo! I'm going to...maybe have a glass of wine while doing homework at home with my cats?). The other contender is a dress form.

As you may have guessed, I'm really sick of my cameras inability to adjust to different lighting. These photos were taken early morning when it was cloudy. But sometimes, for whatever reason and no matter what setting it is on, my camera decides hey guess I should FLARE UP! And then my entire picture ends up looking like a middleschoolers myspace profile ( minus glitter hearts and duck lips).

Meanwhile...

I drew a giant octopus using nothing but very tiny circles. You can see it here in this progress shot:

The pictures sort of suck because I used my phone...right now its in the finishing stages. Getting cropped, adding some interest in the background, etc etc. Pretty soon its gonna go up on etsy as well!

So I bought this hat cause what the hey I said I wanted to wear hats right? Wait, did I say that? I think I did. SO I bought this hat. And then I wore it once, which is a shame because I really like it and I spent money on it so I better frickin wear it. I also bought these pants. They fit great. Wide legs are the best, because when you walk they actually create a mini breeze inside of the legs when they flap around. Perfect for when Texas is about to break a record for longest streak of over 100 degree weather. Once again, I rarely ever wore them.

This morning as I was perusing my closet attempting to piece together an outfit I decided I needed to push the limits a bit more. "I will combine these and it will be glorious", Thought I.

Throw in a cat shirt and some funky accessories, and you have my take on the Annie Hall pants.

Curtsies and a Constant State of Panic

I'm slowly beginning to realize I have this Pavlov reaction of sheer panic every time I look at my day planner, for fear of some small but important thing unwritten and therefor not done. Did I send that email? Hem that romper? Where did I put that sketch I was supposed to upload to my website? Oh snap the litter has not been cleaned for days and the cats are rioting. Classes? Doctors appointments? No more refills on my prescription why did no one warn me- HOLY CRAP WHEN DID I LAST POST ON MY BLOG. Seriously, I need to chill. Get some froyo. Whatever. Don't worry about me though! As you can see, I've been getting plenty of retail therapy.

Meanwhile, I cannot wait for fall! In a show of rebellion to the 109 degree Texas heat ( This is not an exaggeration) I've only had eyes for soft knits and bulky, cozy sweaters. I can't get images of cat snuggling, apple cider and...well.... just going outside without dying of heat stroke... out of my head. That plus I'm a nerd and taking this much time off from school has me chomping at the bit to get some learning in my head.

Some days, I just really really really love to wear tons of color. I find that no matter how crappy my mood is, it can make me feel as chipper and cheeky as a background dancer in Hello Dolly!

And I was in a pretty crappy mood when I realized that the dress I wore under the skirt was NOT movement friendly. No matter which way I moved in it, something would pop out from either end. So, I added some straps from an old bra and went all criss-crossy with them, for added effect. That solved one end. The next was much easier. I grabbed my (sadly) much longer yellow skirt and threw that on top.

Now, I'm not exactly dancing in the streets or anything silly like that...But I can bend over without getting arrested for indecent exposure so that's pretty nice I guess. The rest of my day not spent avoiding flashing my cats consisted of lots of theater workings, organization and working out. Werkin eeeeet.

Heyoooo! So I'm gonna make this quick cause I maybe have to open tomorrow(or, you know. Sleep at some point maybe. Please?) I just wanted to give a proper shout out to Sevenly! My shirt came in awhile ago, and I've really been slacking off on posting it.

Basically, Sevenly designs a shirt. Its only available for seven days. And seven dollars of the purchase goes to the charity of that week. Its a pretty awesome concept, cause that way you aren't faced with the whole "But how do I choose just one?!" inner turmoil that sets off Sarah McLachlan in your head, singing about arms of angels. Even better is that its made me aware of efforts I didn't even know were being made. This weeks charity? Living water international. The shirt I'm wearing is going towards efforts to end human trafficking. It's a pretty broad spectrum of awesome.

I'm not 100% on how I styled it, but I think the shirt in itself is worthy enough of making a whole post. Maybe with different shorts.
As for my every day life...it's been pretty hectic, but I've been loving every minute of it. We're having another meeting for Huzzah this Saturday. If its as productive as our last meeting was, this theater will be up and running in no time, despite my best efforts to procrastinate it to death.

Believe it or not despite several pictures this is literally the only good one, and I'm using the word 'good' veeeryyy loosely.

The only reason I even bothered posting it right now is because A) If I tell myself I'll just take better pictures later it'll be another month before I do and B) I really like polka dots and the heart earrings make me so happy (plus I just can't deprive the world of how excited I look that the wind is messing up my hair...)

Lately, I've been spending too much. I'm actually considering putting myself through another 30X30 solely so I'll stand a better chance of convincing myself not to spend any fricking money. People doing the 30X30, remind me why this is a terrible idea again?

So my post today is less about my outfit and more about the project I was talking about last time. You know, the one I was afraid I would jinx if I said anything too soon?

Well, some time has passed and I finally feel safe in announcing the creation of Huzzah! Theater. My friends and I sort of just decided..oh why the heck not. And thus a community theater was born!

It's pretty exciting stuff, and given that my makeup class got canceled and I found out I technically don't need the figure drawing class for a minor, I've got PLENTY of spare time on my hands to dump in to this.

So I was actually hoping...not to have to post this today...not because I don't like the outfit, but because I sort of was hoping I'd have finished fixing up some more vintage bits to show off. Right now I'm taking a thrifted romper a friend gave to me and altering the neckline/back to give it a more modern cut to contrast its super 90's floral print. I removed the shoulder pads from my blazer in the last post, and I'm re-hemming like, 3 shorts because I made them just...too short. I've also got to finish the elastic part on the skirt I'm making, but I'm really scared to because I read some horror story about a girl using the wrong needle and it made it break and the needle like...flew into the corner of her eye....I reallllly like my eyes needle free. So...I need to buy some of those dorky goggles they make you wear in high school science labs just in case like.

I really want this to be a productive summer and not another sit on my butt and read harry potter/hulk hogan fan fic sort of summer. You know the feeling. I do have something pretty big in an infantile stage of development...for fear of jinxing it, I won't say what it is, but I will say if it does end up working I'm going to be super excited.

Progress- I'm getting there.

my etsy: Veiled Vintage

I finally listed something new on my etsy and I'm pretty excited. Also I'm working on some other projects including a Luna Lovegood costume for the Harry Potter Premier and a skirt using elastic to get to know my beautiful new Project Runway sewing machine. That and I'm also moving back and forth to Denton right now...Which is why currently, I don't have an actual outfit post. But I will! Soon. Eventually I'd like to show you this awesome blazer I got from Thrift Town, but until then, enjoy the teaser shot of it at the top of this post.
